Nice video Ron. I'm just now getting back into kayak fishing after several years. I'm in Orange Park, just south of Jacksonville. Been watching alot of your videos and you have given me some great ideas where to fish. Now that I'm retired, I have time to do some road trips to areas south of here. Thank you for some great info..
Hi Mark. Glad you're inspired to go kayak fishing! Congrats on retirement! You've got some great spots up there in Jax as well. I need to get up that way more. Thanks for watching, liking, subscribing, commenting, and being a part of this kayak fishing community! Sounds like you're an addict :)!
Low tide in the winter can produce fish on the days the sun shines, heats up the muddy bottom quick. Was doing some push polling recently on a chilly day back in the mangrove creeks, water was only 8 or 10 inches, and I spotted a lot of fish. The cold overcast days are the worst…I can’t wait until spring!
Love my Aerius 6'5" ML mod-fast rod from old 18 plus, just like Buggs, they're local to me here in Houston. Another excellent rod builder is Laguna Customs. Excellent rods, like their Trident. Also, Sarge customs. The BOHICA is worth the cost.
Yes, the Aerius is working out great. Thanks for the other tips! I’ll look into those when I need a new rod. It’s beneficial to have companies like this close by.
Hi... love your vids. Perhaps you can do a video on how you use your drone to capture footage for your video. Make & Model drone, launch from shore or Kayak, etc. Keep up the good work.
Thanks for the feedback, likes, shares, etc.!!! I appreciate it very much. Also, thanks for the tip. You're right, I haven't done one of those yet but I do show myself launching and catching my drone from my kayak from time to time. The only video I've made about the drone itself is ua-cam.com/video/4WoPWX1FXnk/v-deo.html which is really about me finding out I needed to become a pilot! That said, the quick answers is that I'm using a v1 DJI Mavic Mini (see the details in the description of each of my videos). I shoot in 2.7K. More to follow when I do that video :). Thanks again.
one more great video! impressions of the new outback? i have a compass with Kickup but the extra space and h-bars make seem so sweet :) Greetings from Greece!
Thanks! The Outback is great but like I mention in this video - ua-cam.com/video/jhB_oeiYprQ/v-deo.html - I wouldn't have upgraded if I had the same Compass that you have.
Cool video again... So I just noticed you also use left handed baitcast reels. Curious, is it because you are left handed, or like me (right handed) but find it makes more since to cast and control the rig with my strong arm? I'm hoping to start making some trips down that way soon. I love the area, my favorite of inshore so far and couldn't fish last year because of a shoulder surgery/rebuild. Keep em coming....
Hi Jason, thanks. Yes, I'm right handed. Honestly, I think whoever chose to classify reels the way they are got it wrong. In baseball parlance, right handed people throw with their right hand and catch with their left. I want to throw (cast) with my right hand and catch (reel) with my left when I fish. It also helps to be able to set the hook with your dominant hand too. So, as confusing as it sounds, I only purchase left handed fishing reels because they are made for right handed people like me. At least that's my $0.02 on the matter.
@@jpvcwby Yep! Honestly, they named it from the perspective of the reel itself. The handle is on the xyz side. As opposed to thinking about the fisherman/woman. Baseball names things from the player's perspective. Fishing should be the same.
Ok, as a left handed guy growing up in a right handed world, I've been wondering if a left handed reel would work for me. Thanks for the Input, you guys pretty much explained it as I'm seeing it too. In this case, right is right!😎
Lol Ron you Crack me up. My baby's on her cart. Atleast it's in my heated basement. It's 17 degrees up north. But that's what's great about fishing through you! New vessel looks much more stable, in that wind. Be safe my friend. 🙏 🎣 🤙
I’m going up to bings landing to kayak fish my birthday at the end of this month, and local tips on which way to go once I get across and into the marsh ? To the left or to the right towards long creek ? Any tips would be awesome, I just subbed 👍🏻
Hi EJ. You're asking me where will the fish be on that specific day? If I knew that...LOL. I prefer going to the right, and fishing through the open bay you'll get to, then hook back to the left at the only opening you'll come to. But, the fish can be anywhere!
Hi Edward. Thanks for your concern. I'm still here...the 2-3 week cold spell we had put a crimp in the production schedule. Even after it warms up it takes a while for the fish to come back too. I'll be posting again soon.

Catch a lot of fish on the flats bug on the west coast Ron.
Good to know. It's a good bait!

That is exactly how I've explained it. It just makes me more sense. 100% agree that they have it defined backwards.

I guess the term cold is relative :). U2!
Another great gear tip 👍 Good looking baits. I am going to give those a shot.
Thanks!
Are you using a clear leader with that blue line? Just curios - never seen line like that before. Good fishing.
Hi Thomas. Yes. That blue line is braided line connected to a monofilament leader line via a uni-to-uni knot.
