- In this talk Dutch DJ/producer Julian Jordan talks frankly about how he became a DJ/Producer and how he manages to survive and thrive in this competitive world. He is at the vanguard of the country’s new generation of dance music hotshots, with a mightily impressive track record in his short time in the game. He brings a fresh spin to the dance scene, fusing some of its trademark sound and bombast with exciting new twists and influences that so far has seen the likes of MTV cite him as “one to watch”. “I have to say, I really like people that just do their own thing and don’t follow the hype.” he explains of his musical ethos. “I like to think outside of the box, and what inspires me are other artists who do that as well.” A slew of releases have proved that he is fully able to put his money where his mouth is, while DJ sets everywhere from Electric Daisy Carnival to Tomorrowland have made it clear that he is adept at translating this ethos for the dancefloor. “I know labels are looking for fresh tracks that could be the new hype. So, don’t follow the hype; create it!” This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at www.ted.com/tedx
I like the way how he said his father bought him fl studio just to not say the truth about him using cracked software ahahahah
JuPeter what u mean by cracked software
@@valentinarmenta4982 u are not a true producer if u don't understand this joke
@@cracknblast8247 it's not a joke tho many do that
@@jd3455 I know it isn't a joke. I do it for a matter of fact
It IS funny though, literally, how he made up for the fact that he pirated fl studio
he was nervous ( i would be too) but he managed to pull it off and explained a lot of important things thanks Julian!
Yess!!
The world is full of amazing people. You can do anything if you put your mind to it! ❤️
You are a winner. Thank you for sharing us some of your behind the scenes struggle as well.
Julian is really special. Thanks for sharing to us your behind scenes. ❤
he is controlling himself from jumping😂😂😂😂
So proud of you Julian ❤
That was motivating.....
Wow!!!This inspired me a lot! This is my dream.
He killed this
This is what the real truth is. Thank You for sharing this. 🙏💯
he didn't mention the fact that Martin was his friend and they backed up each other to success...
good talk though
SUPERLIKE! Own music is extremely important nowdays. Thanks for this amazing talk
Hearing the my hole life story in 10 minutes,i think its good too never give up:)
HOW HAVE I MISSED THIS! LESGO JJ
Hopefully i can shoot a aftermovie for him sometime.
Idol .
Why haven't I seen this till now!!!???
I'm garrixer but I think even he deserves to be in top
Oooooooohhhhhh booiiiiiiiiiii julian is so toppy😍
It was decent, but at the end I disagree. Julian said that "you need to think about how you look to other people" - its not a personality then, its just like Aoki's "Pretender", and more importantly that's not good for your mental health. Being yourself is not BS, and people/promoters look up to the ones who are brave to show who they really are and what they think. You'll never reach happines if you act to make others happy, and if you do decide to act, your real friends will see, they'll know you're dragged into it.
Just think about Tim Bergling for a sec.
Peace X
😪
Agreed With U Brother
Was actually thinking that, the speech is very basic...
@yutr7o6856e7d68f9g u might be right
@Jay Eskar Hey Jay Eskar whatsup? Future House king, I always look up to you because of your honest and open mind. Take care!

I have fruity loops up on my screen right now 😂
So gooood
8:25 Pretty sure it is success

Lonely with no team yet
Anyone thinks that Julianjordan looks a little bit Johnny depp
He is him!
More like Martin Garrix and Johnny!
Ballsy to do that; clearly was nervous but powered through
im surprised this doesnt have more views
awesome maaan
WowWW ..... Whatt a lesson ... It means a world to me
bass house ♥
I wanna know how he made that baseline
didnt realize there was so much involved
he seems so scared haha. Public speaking is really difficult but you did it good julian
15 YEARS OLD!!! I ONLY HAVE 2 YEARS!!!
Wow, I to started from fl studio but not ended rightly
6:50 song name?
Julian Jordan - Zero Gravity
Why is the audio always so terrible on these?
He misspelled "Success"
Succes is the Dutch word for success
says yo mate
lmao
Quite ironic coming from you
didnt even need to bother listening to his music to know he isnt the best role model for "making it" as a 'superstar'
This is inspiring! Just released my first EDM track here on youtube, would love some feedback.
Stop promoting yourself
*success
I don't know him...
An 11-minute speech that ran 10 minutes too long.
I'm annoyed when certain people compared Julian to Martin like geez come on... they're bfam
Agreed!
Strongly agree
Whats bfam?

Didn't know Julian Jordan had a TED talk, that's awesome :D completely killed it!
Yes dude!!
Tiesto is truly The Godfather...
And mad respect for Julian!!
So many DJs starting on their Teens. Im 25 and already feel too old to start this. I have a finance job that I hate but pays very well, part of me says I should really chase DJing no matter where that leads.
You can work your job and DJ! Do it man!
I'm 29 and work in IT, started doing DJ and music production this year. It is never too late. You will regret more if you never try
Im twice your age, still have the good paying job and still chasing the dream. You are never to old. Keep going!
I'm pretty sure succes is spelt wrong 8:30
I searched it up, and it's either French or Romanian.
its dutch, hes dutch, you can hear it in the way he talks and the way he structures his sentences
@@ewanarends5512 Or by being able to read
Roy Enjoy or that haha
it's how you spell it in Dutch
It's so beautiful how art creates more art. Julian was inspired by Tiesto to make music. And now he's inspiring millions (like me) who are simply bedroom producers. I make music too and upload it to my channel!
I am 15 and I have a dream.
I can hear his dutch accent and sentence structure. Amazing still, so many good dj’s and producers are dutch. Proud of my country. Im gonna use this, and hope to stand there some day too.
Amazing speech Julian! 👍😊
A Dutchman said "Soccer". Emotional damage
It is so cool how he said Tiesto's song made him want to make music since Julian's song "Rock Steady" is what got me into producing! Although he says it wasn't the best here, I still really enjoy that song since it has a deep meaning and influenced me. Now after 6 years of producing, I got my first contract.

I really appreciate that you took the time to tell us about your story behind the scene, I hope someday have the opportunity to be your stage photographer 🙏
Woah We're almost same. I started too producing music in 13 and it's been 3 years and I'm 16 yo now. Wait for me Spinnin' Records !!!
really u boosted my. confidence... as a 14 year old beginner producer
Same!😊
keep making music man, train a lot, don't give up
Same! I’m 16 though 😂
Same man. I'm like 5 years younger than Julian Jordan and produce music on my yt
I am 21 year old . Just started making synthwave using GarageBand. I don’t know anything else to make .
Julian, im so proud of you 💖
Thanks so much for this talk! Really encouraged me to take confidence in my early tracks before I learned to properly produce music. I really hope to become a professional producer one day :D
Good luck Chris, hard work is the key!
@@bodyasleep Thank you so much!!
Same. I'm only 14 and have been producing since I was 12. I am positive that I want to become a producer. And good luck to you! I believe in you.
@@Dripht Thank you!! Good luck to you as well :)
Hey man hows the producing going?
I’m on the same situation as he was in I just bought my first DJ set and have wanted to get into producing aswell this video is motivating 👍
When Tiesto is the root of all the Inspiration...
You only need to make a lot of music before getting some money, then if it works out well you could just hire songwriters and producers to make music for you like Garrix to mention one, all you do after that is write some simple ideas that they will develop and supervise their work to make sure it's good stuff before release. Finally you'll hand the track to professional sound engineers to get it mixed and mastered properly. The hard part is the beginning. Make bloody good music.
Dit is zo ver weg van je comfortzone ! Heel knap gedaan, goede TED Talk !!
TIp: Practice hard. Join music forums,. and get FL studio. Put your music on social media, twitter/soundcloud and it can take you 3 years to get your first contract. (His with Spinnin records)Keep making constant good music, everyday that you like. Always think about it. Wherever you are.
Good story…same as many of us who went into it back in the days and still doing it. But this EDM music sucks…EDM is a horrible genre and traffic is such a generic track. This guy hasn’t heard good music yet if these are the prime examples
I love when farhers support he's childs.
But is not the same for all.
alot of the times before the big fame, you have to able to be alone without feeling lonely. often people don't think you will make it, and just talk you down. you have to be able to be alone without feeling lonely.
he is so happy sharing what he experienced
8:30 when you skip english classes for djing
when you don't check how "success" is spelled in dutch
Now I’ve been listening to traffic all morning and the inspiration to become my own producer
which song is this 6:50 ???
zero gravity
so what did we learn from this talk - having a team is important, especially a spell checker.
6:34 i love this song
Name song?

🖤🔥so wonderful journey ...respect julian bro
What is the forum called??
EVERY BODY FUCKIŃ JUMP!!!!
Thank you Tedx for this.
And thank you sir Julian For inspiring and giving the best and true knowledge what we need
To sum it up. It's a dark, cutthroat industry partially due to the mass audience goading them on, but mostly due to the love for money and mainstream relevance.
Great presentation Julian, well done.
Just stating the obvious here
Actually ...at the end of his presentation ...i wanted to hear more from him...i didn't like to see the end of his presentation ......Very good presentation brother ...it is helpful .......by the way
Love you JULIAN ❤️
This is the worst Ted talk I ever saw.
He´s not a superstar DJ/producer, I´m a fan of this kind of music and I know him but that´s only because a listen to a lot of songs of this kind, he´s not really famous.
5:59 boy goes full Texas
HAHAHA
8:29 Here's a s for you ------ s
I scared af at 3:35 about cough
succes
Useless talk, didn't learn a thing.
😂😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Amazing
Best of luck to u and me. ❤
22 i though 32
When that song started playing I saw bro emidiatly counting beats
But he din't mention as to how he first learnt to make music?? I mean did he go to a college for that or he watched video online or whatever?? Does anyone have any answer to this???
@DANIEL ARGENAL Is it not possible to become a music producer without attending any of these schools?? And moreover is it necessary to become a producer once u attend one of these schools??
@@pranavsprakash7637 Going to music schools and stuff is absolutely gratuitous to become a music producer. You just need softwares and talent.
Music production is mostly self figurative(DAWs obviously), and knowing to play some instruments also adds to your musicality if you know what I mean
He went to music school. That's where he met martin garrix.
So inspiring! I love Julian Jordan
