Good explanation on what can be a very confusing situation for anyone new to the Hobby. I've pretty much come to the conclusion that if the receiver doesn't have forward programming, I just don't even want to mess with it. The forward programming has been a game changer in my opinion. Thanks buddy! Keep em coming!
@@BDTennessee I don't understand. If you want to use a cable to connect your receiver to a computer usb port so you can access the spektrum web site - so you can upgrade firmware, or download programming for a specific model how would you get around that using forward programming?
I'm getting back into RC flying after doing it the old fashioned way in the 60's. Blown away by all the technology! I like the Sailplanes. I did a brief stint as a Hang Glider pilot and became very fond of the Vario but became fonder of the life I enjoyed on the ground. My Night Radion™ arrives tomorrow and an AR-637T arrives Friday. The idea of having a Vario while searching for thermals makes me feel like 13 again.
@@BDTennessee … hi it’s me again, and yes your very welcome. You helped me understand all these receivers for air craft. There’s just so much to be known. Just bought my first plane new pre owned mx2 3D witha spectrum 4ch. Practicing on rc simulator from App Store. That’s how I learned drone, was good enough to not crash the real thing so I trust the plane simulator being I’m a great drone flyer by now. Saving up for the NX8 and later the 8360T for an F16 or F4U warbird or Draco. Something I can fully customize. Do any planes come with the 8360T? What’s the most common receiver fount in BNF? What’s the most commonly used Lipo in 6 channel planes?
Can I use an NX8 with a 10 channel spektrum receiver and get those 2 extra channels to work to keep my AS3X/SAFE as well as for my MIG-29 thrust vectoring set up? I need minimum 8 channels for the TV.
Hello… I have 3 6 channel planes using the AR630 receiver and a DX6e transmitter and I’m running SAFE in all ,but on all the time. If I get an 8 channel transmitter, will I be able to then turn safe on and off or do I need the 8 channel receiver too? Also after I updated my radio and receiver, it show in forward programming that I now have another aux channel? ?????
8 channel transmitter will allow you to have full 6 channels and AS3X/Safe on extra channel. You can do this with AR630 you have now.Dont need a 8 channel receiver. Recent update shows a extra channel on the DX6e. However isnt actually enabled. If you buy a radio be sure to use one of affiliate links :)
Is there a way to turn off as3x and safe on the AR637T without using a computer. I purchased one and everytime I move the plane when its plugged in the controls move. I just want an old school type of RX. NO SAFE !
Hi BD. I have been enjoying all your videos and on particular have been learning how I want to setup my new vioer 90mm on my nx10 transmitter. One thing I am not sure if is which receiver I need. I want to do your crow breaking setup that requires 2 extra channels, I have retractable gear, and I want as3x and safe. By my math I need the 10 channel, not the 8 right ?? I have both Ed
Hey Ed! Crow requires one extra channel. Flaps can be on Y adapter.Video i made at the time was more towards normal planes that have available channels easier. Receiver can "see" up to 20 channels. NX10 will allow 8 controlled channels and see AS3X/Safe and Gain Control on "extra channels". Here is layout i would use. 1)Throttle 2)Right Aileron 3)Elevator 4)Rudder 5)Gear 6)Flaps 7)Left Aileron 8)Open or use for Left Flap and 6 for Right Flap Channel Assign in radio: 9-Aux3) Flight Mode Switch for AS3X/Safe 10-Aux4) Gain Control Set those up to correspond in Forward Programming of Receiver...
@BDTennessee yes, I made a mix and It works fine. I always want crow on this plane with full flaps so just mixed it to the full flap switch. Works fine...
Will a AR6610T work with a DX6i without a satellite receiver? Do i need to hook it up to a computer first to program it or can it simply bind to it right out of the box?
How do you power the receivers when using port 1 for a throttle servo? I'm not into electric motors & having a hard time finding this info. ( I have AR630 receivers) Thank you
Can I find the current receiver firmware thru forward programming? When I am in that function with my new ar637t, I see 2.35.00, is that the receiver version?
Thanks a lot mete. What do you think about AR620.. Can be used with a jet,, just watched a video by spektrum but wasn't sure when they mentioned 800feet range was this the receiver range or the telemetry range it would be very weak in this case!
AR620 is great receiver! I have used them in numerous jets. Some of the first flight reviews i had, most of them use AR620. Spektrum has stated AR620 have 10% better range than previous external antenna versions...
@@BDTennessee thanks a lot man. That is really useful. If I may ask if you are aware of what is the normal range of rc receivers in general. Thanks a lot. 👌
So I bought a OMP Hobby M2 EVO - in order to bind it I need a receiver with a DSMX satellite port? Whats my best option for just being able to bind this heli to my NX8 transmitter? I'm still trying to figure out exactly what these are and why you need them for binding : ) I bought a NX8

By making these changes did I add to the power needed or do you think something wrong. On the bench, everything seems fine Ed

Thanks for the video ! Can you tell me if a sr6200a is compatible with my Dx3 on my vintage losi xxl nitro car ? I can’t get the steering and throttle controls to work after going through the steps it recognizes it until I’m on my last right turn for calibration and it never flashes 3 times
