I'd like to see a true latency test between the brands. They all make claims, but customers should have the true times. Knowing where each radio is made is also a bonus to know who to support. Hitec, Futaba, Sanwa, Flysky, Spectrum, Etc. All the brands.
Very convincing video! I go back to the days of AM radios and then FM was the best to have!! LOL I am long overdue for a radio upgrade and now the prices are very attractive for me.... Hey Santa " got your ears on " ??? LOL
First off thank you for this video. You just helped me teach a coworker who is just getting into the hobby the point that I've been trying to make to him. Upgrade your radio unit and in the future if you get extra cars you can get extra receivers and keep everything simple & clean. Only gripe I have with this video is I think sanwa screwed their customer base with some of their new models. The mx6 as far as I know use that fh- e system which rendered the fh-2 receivers useless. No other sanwa transmitter accepts fh-e. Then they replaced the mt4 that was fully backwards compatible with fh-2 up to fh-4 receivers with the mt-s which only runs fh-3 and fh-4. Then the next step up is the mt-44 which cost as much as your avarage rc kit and has the same issue as the mt-s. Last great sanwa transmitters where the m11s, mt-4, and mx-v.
Yeah, I noticed this too. Seems like they're offering two tiers of receiver technology. Spektrum has this too with DSMR and their low end transmitters having FHSS. -Brett
Hell yes! Nuff said. My Spektrum DX5 Pro is by far the best radio I’ve ever owned. One fast ergonomic sob. My wheel is angled and tilted and with a frame rate of 5 ms, my steering servo is quicker than my hand on the wheel. Why do you want more than one transmitter? More than one receiver - yes. One transmitter - multiple memories is the only way. Finally I’m there. Took awhile...
Can you or anyone that reads this please help me with an upgraded radio choice/different options of brands? Im new to getting away from the rtr radios and have been told to get a Sanwa, Futaba T4PM. The T4PM has a super response option But requires you to buy a sr reciever which not sure what this option is for? Not sure what the distances of range are on different radios. Theres so many dam different radios out there and each seems to be for either racing, crawling, short track This that and the other thing it makes your head spin. Its almost making me want to just sell my brand new xmaxx still in the box with losts of $$$$ in brand new upgrades still in their pkgs cuz its almost like im never gonna figure all this out! I watch so many videos on different radios and people switching from Futabas to Sanwas etc. I dont race and right now my only rc is my new xmaxx. I do like decent sized backlit screens, I would like to program lights to run off my radio, I have no clue what all the settings due on upgraded radios like all the Trims. The throttle and curve and whatever other adjustments they do. You almost have to go to college to figure out radios and rc vehicles these days. I think i made a mistake of buying another xmaxx that im gonna be building/upgrading this time with Castles newest sensored 2028 motor and esc Instead of just staying out of the hobby. I cant believe how pissed im getting with trying to figure everything out. I still havent started my build yet as i still need lots of upgrades that are out of stock and still have to spend more $$$. Please email me at jdeeress@yahoo.com or if your response goes to my email then thats fine to. Thank You.
@@nitetrain7136 I'm sure Futaba is great but probably expensive. If you have the money it's probably the best. I would guess Spektrum is also very good, maybe a little cheaper. If you want budget you could try flysky. For $50 you can pick up a GT5 which does a lot for the money. I have that and the IT4s and like both of them. Haven't had any of the more expensive ones so I can't say how much better they are.
Awesome video yep it is definitely worth getting a decent transmitter because I have a Futaba T4grs that I race with and there is such a difference by the way the car drives and how you feel connected to the car ! great video again by the way!!!
Please do a video on different Nitro content fuels and their uses. I'm looking to dive into Nitro again, and all the more info the better. Love your content and I look forward to your next video!
I have one transmitter right now because it has an option that most don't have. The ability to accommodate left handed steering. Been driving left handed since 1984.
In getting back into RC, one thing I decided, from the beginning, is that I didn't want to play the "upgrade game". I mean, why start with a lower-end 2Ch or 3Ch, then upgrade to a good mid-range 4Ch, and then, a few years later, finally upgrade to a high-end 6Ch or 7Ch? Using that logic, I decided it was best to just "shoot for the moon". That's why, other than the TQi that came with my Rustler 4x4, I went straight for the Futaba 7PX...and, I'm extremely glad I did. Now having several off-road vehicles, plus an on-road, I finally decided to get into crawlers, which, for those familiar with crawlers, can easily need more than 4 channels - my first crawler used 6 channels. Sometimes, it IS work it to just get the top-of-the-line model from the beginning.
@@AMain_Hobbies I agree. I wish the car companies would build cars and trucks like that. Quit putting out flawed parts from the start that need upgrades just to make run as advertised. That's why I want a quality kit company. Tekno is leading my wish list
@@davidreed760 eh, if it cost over $500 to get your feet wet in the hobby, there would be no hobby. You'd have to stupid to fork out $500+ just to try something out you might not even like, or not like enough. That's why cheaper stuff exists, and RTR etc.
I returned to the hobby via drone racing and I'm really disappointed with the RC car radios available. I bought a Sanwa MT44 and found it frustrating to because I was used to helicopter radios. I've now reverted to my FRSky X-lite and I absolutely love it! The handset is about a third of the price, the PWM receivers are a tenth of the price, yet it's a 24 channel helicopter radio.
I came into surface from drones and I too was a little disappointed. Stuff like there's no opentx/edgetx surface radio and there's no open source low latency rc link like ELRS in surface. And all the low latency, telemetry "racing" links in surface like Futaba and Spektrum cost an arm and a leg. Like a screenshot in this video showing a Spektrum RX that costs $79! I get low latency, over 10km of range and telemetry from a $10 rx bound to an $80 radio with my drone. Stuff like Futaba and Spektrum is dead in the drone space and we call them "legacy protocols". Surface is a good 10 years behind at this point.
When I first started flying RC Planes, you invested in the RTF setup with the pre- programmed transmitter. After that, you purchased a programmable transmitter because you knew you were going to purchase other models. I get tired of dealing with all the transmitters for my ground vehicles. Unless the vehicle requires a specialized feature like the Traxxas Summit or M4 crawler, I cannot see having many transmitters, labeling them, batteries, broken transmitters etc.
I do exactly that and bind all my RC cars to one good radio transmitter, and I could use some help with this related question: Whenever I buy a new RC car I get rid of the provided transmitter and receiver, and I bind it to my Flysky radio instead. So far, so good. But as soon as I set up the transmitter I need to input an operating frequency for the employed servo. And most of the times there is no information provided on this. Not even when looking online for the spec sheet of an original replacement servo. What do you do in such case? I don't want to set the operating frequency lower than necessary and thereby making it slower, and I don't want to fry the servo by setting the frequency too high. But I also don't want to replace a brand new servo with another one with known parameters. So what would be a way to figure out the exact operating frequency of a servo to input in the transmitter settings? 🧑🏻🔧 I assume I am not the only person with this problem. 🤷🏻♂️
Well,, I for one appreciate the RTR transmitters, Back in my day kids! we only had stick radios, wheel models were just hitting the scene, We had Futaba and Airtronix for radio choice, and you could get diff crystal sets, everything has changed in radios for the better IMO.
Picked up my first upgrade TX years ago with a DX4C. I'll never look back. Most RTR transmitters disgust me anymore. Currently I have sold off my DX4c and run with a DX6R. I'm becoming the same way with batteries as well.
I am one of those who have converted from many to one transmitter and once I got my spectrum dx3s I was hooked but there is one thing u forgot to address about only using one transmitter. You can only run one vehicle @ a time. If a friend or anyone else wants to play with one u will need another transmitter or take turns. Thats why I always save a few rtr transmitters. It's more fun when ur not the only one driving
I am pretty happy with my Ko Propo EX1 Mars with the Spectrum modules. Works well, even tho it's not the newest of the newest. The only times i had issues wit electrical, it was down to faulty connections/switches, never problems with signal loss.
I had one of those 30 years ago! I didn't know that you could update it to a spectrum system! Cool I have all my cars on my Airtronics M11 with Spectrum systems. I am hesitant to upgrade to a new one but one with windows for all the functions and programing. I would love that because mine is hard to program. I can understand your sticking to what you have. I loved it and it was simple, mine is NOT!!!
Airtronics were always the best for me back in the 90s with the old RC10s. I believe they are Sanwa now but I may be wrong. Whats a good transmitter the pros use these days?
I prefer spektrum because they feel the most comfortable too me. But that being said I use the rtr remotes. Ease of use, dont care if something happens to one because they were included and cheap to replace.
i forgot one other question, What do all the different channels do or mean? like the 4 to 5 and up? Why so many? I would like to run different lights via my next radio if this is what some of these channels can be used for? Maybe the excess channels are to run extra fans and other accessories? Thanks.
I have a 6 channel transmitter and i use the xtra channels for shift servos if the model has a 2 speed trans, the extra channels can control winches, lights, servos but you will still need some type of controller for each channel you want to control.
I never use the stock transmitter even with RTR’s. The reason is EPA’s none have it... and I dial back the throttle and steering depending on who’s going to drive
I am new to the RC World. I have been buying some used remote control vehicles. I just bought a Snap On amphibious vehicle and there was no remote control. I bought a digital universal remote control that states that it will eventually grab the frequency and it will control the vehicle. Where can I buy this equipment that I can change to make my remotes work for any RC vehicle?
Personally I’m running a Sanwa MT-44 for my current race stuff I’ve more recently picked up a Spectrum DX5C for my two crawlers and my other Basher type vehicles I’ve still got my old Airtronics M11X as well that one is still setup on my Nitro race vehicles (which I don’t run anymore) and it’s “That extra Transmitter” if I’ve got a friend that wants to try one of my cars it’s also a good backup to the MT44 that replaced it. I like my DX5C but It’s a noticeable step down from the M11X & MT44 but it’s lighter weight and overall cheaper system that I’m more willing to but in a higher risk situation (ie running trails) I bought my DX5C before the DX5 Rugged was announced 🤷♂️ still have my old FM Futaba systems too those are just for sitting next to my Vintage RC shelf queens nowadays
I have the traxxas maxx and arrma infraction. I'm looking to upgrade to one nice remote. I hate using one rtr remote then go to the other one. They feel totally different and It takes time to get use to every time I switch.
Hello, I have a RC car with a crystal 5 (RX) 26.740. The controller is missing. What controller can I buy, those programmable ones that I can use with this car? The car brand is Nikko, probably a 10 year old car, but I don't want the OEM controller, I would like to buy a better quality one.
Sorry, I don't think that's going to be possible. Nikko cars don't have a dedicated receiver you can swap out, the electronics are part of one circuit board and not replaceable. You will need to find a controller that was made for that vehicle, then add your own crystals. -Brett
@@AMain_Hobbies Brett, I would say the DX5R is better on batteries, even with the backlight. They both use batteries fairly quickly, but the DX5R seems to be more efficient.
@@puzzleluvr I heard that the DX5C/Rugged was for trails and crawling because it is waterproof and all others are not. You can play in rain or if you slip and fall into the mud boggs with your radio in hand all you have to do is rinse off and not buy a new transmitter. It was made for that application and not racing
New America Tow Guy If you have a lot of RC’s, it’s not a bad way to go. Receivers for the inexpensive models like the GT3B with 10 model memory are less than $5.50 each. The GT3B uses 8 AA batteries and doesn’t automatically power off which causes me to go through a lot of batteries if I forget to turn it off but the trade off is that the range is very good. I’ve swapped out Traxxas receivers for flysky simply because I needed more range than a stock Traxxas will give me. One downside is that sometimes the receivers don’t have a failsafe which causes the vehicle to go full throttle reverse if you turn of the transmitter with the car powered on. They’ve fixed the issue on some receivers but it’s pretty much a toss up because sometimes they still sell the bad ones without failsafe. Sometimes I get a good batch and sometimes I don’t. I just make sure to disconnect the RC’s battery before turning off the transmitter and that works but sometimes I forget to turn of the transmitter and waste my batteries. The GT5 6 channel transmitter is much better (no failsafe issues) only needs 4 batteries but the receivers cost quite a bit more at around $15 each.
Its ok transmitter, i prefer spektrum or futaba radios. The thing is with flysky is they suck battery life and they are slow compared to spektrum and futaba (transmitting time). Personally id spend the extra money for a GOOD radio that you dont have to modify like the flysky stuff.
Thank you very much for that review. I'm missing just one point - I'm looking for a left hand (steering wheel) transmitter and was not able to find some details nor comparisons. So would a great support by you to give some recommandations.
Yes, there are transmitters that can be adjusted for left hand use, although it is usually reserved for higher-end models. This Sanwa M12S is a great example of left/right hand operation, in a high-end, fully programmable system. It is quite exquisite. Check it out here: www.amainhobbies.com/sanwa-airtronics-m12srs-fh4t-4channel-2.4ghz-radio-system-snw101a32361a/p668686 -Brett
Just ordered a 7px from my lhs. I haven’t gotten it yet. Looking forward to having something different. I’ve had a spectrum DX3R for the last 6 years. It’s been a great radio.
Does a more expensive RC actually work better for racing, I mean more than just for comfort? Would a traxxas TQi work OK for racing if it was used in Team associated car?
The main issue is how many people will pay $50 per futaba receiver when you can get similar receiver for 10-15 bucks from flysky or radiolink. Futaba needs to bring prices down to 25ish level for their receivers and then maybe their $250 radio might be a better deal
Hi Sir, Im gonna be new to an aftermarket transmitter and have been told to go with a Futaba number 4 series. T4PM or the others. I am told the T stands for Telemetry which i dont know much about, Then theres the T4PM radio, T4PV and so on. I really like the neat looks and functionality and the neat screens on the Futabas. I know the Top Dawg is the 7PX, But that is pretty pricey and not sure if it would be worth it for my first one, Especially when im planning on dumping several grand into my traxxas Xmaxx 8s build. I really prefer the backlit screens, the flip up antennae would be nice on the front, All or most of the required settings options would be neat, the moveable up and down steering wheel would be neat, maybe the one with the different handle comfort grip options, I dont plan on racing. please help me out so i know which radio will suit my needs but not cost me super high end bucks, unless this might be the way to go. even maybe a 4PX? Thanks
I don't think you can go wrong with any of the Futaba transmitters. They're all really nice, and like you mentioned, the 7PX is extremely nice! That would probably be my transmitter of choice if money wasn't an issue. For the telemetry functions, I think you just need a telemetry capable receiver for it to work. Do you need that with an X-Maxx? -Brett
Yo just watched 2 videos and read 2 articles. I had throttle trim issues. And just had trouble. Watched your video. And it worked fine. Idk. But thanks.
Only been doing RC for about a year now, so apologies if this question seems silly. I am looking a buying a Spektrum DX5 Rugged. If I bind a vehicle to the DX5, will the stock transmitter still work with that vehicle if I want to let someone else run that vehicle while I run another using the DX5? I recently bought my first plane and picked up a Spektrum DX8. Really happy with that transmitter so that's why I was thinking of the DX5 Rugged. I currently have 5 ground vehicles and am looking at picking up a couple more and really found this video insightful. By the way, just wanted to say I love your online store, the videos and info you guys provide!
Whichever radio a receiver is bound to is the one that will control it. So if you rebind to a different radio, you can certainly run it with another truck.
Really happy to hear you enjoy the store! Glad the video was helpful for you as well. For the radio, like Henry said, the receiver will only respond to the transmitter it is bound to, and the receiver can be bound to only one transmitter at a time. You could bind a new vehicle for a friend, but it's a little bit of a pain as the ESC should be calibrated to the new transmitter, and trims should be adjusted as needed. Hope this helps. -Brett
Looking to get back into this I was dragracing RC 10’s 20 years ago.... I use to love Futaba... but starting fresh over again I have a DR 10 and I’m looking to get a transmitter that I can customize a little bit change a tune on the fly But there are so many choices what’s a good transmitter that won’t break the bank thank you in advance
I did exactly this as I wanted to cut down on my radios. I did stumble on an issue, I bought the DX5R Pro and the SR6100AT and tried to use it on my E-Revo Brushless that has 2 steering servos. I managed to get mixing going and steering works on both servos, but for the love of God I cannot make AVC do corrections on more than 1 steering channel. As such I can't use AVC with that radio :( Do you have any tips on what I should do?
Been using an airtronics m11 since it came out. Then recently downgraded to a futaba 3pv because most high end transmitter are bigger and bulky.. and most of the time not needed unless competition racing. I say for the average old school guy, an entry level LCD screen transmitter is the best.. it does everything you want and more, with going all out just for 30 minutes of bashing
So can you just buy 1 transmitter, and then use it with all your RC cars? (Most of mine are Arrma). Which would be a good one for me to get? Nothing too 'fancy'
After having bought a Sanwa MT-S and using its fast response mode I cannot go back to any RTR transmitter, they all feel like laggy junk (because thats what they are)
Amazingly informative …. But I’m still a little lost … I have a “jet bandit from Tyco 49mhz” from the 80s my mom gave it to me and I lost the remote when I move out… can anyone help me find a remote that work with it or is there a way to link any receiver? Thank you 🙏
Very cool! To get it going, your best bet might be to find an exact transmitter, in the same frequency as the receiver (easier said than done). Swapping out the receiver would be the easiest method but I'm afraid the receiver in that car is part of one circuit board that controls all electronic functions, rather than using separate and independent components. If I'm wrong and the components are separate, the project should be much easier. To find that transmitter, I'd start searching electronic recycle websites and eBay. -Brett
Silly question but can you keep the RTR receiver in the car but add a secondary one for an upgraded transmitter? I want to keep the original one in case a buddy shows up and wants to bash with me. They would have their own car with the original transmitter and me with my car using the upgraded one
It might be possible. You would need a Y-splitter to split the servo wire to both receivers and another y-splitter for the esc to both receivers; but, you'll need a switch on the esc splitter to power only the receiver you want to use - you can't have them both on. Splitters come in all different lengths: www.amainhobbies.com/eflite-t28-servo-yharness-efl08261/p1252429 -Brett
Loved this vid recently subscribed!!! Just got my hands on a used sanwa m11, do you still have receivers in stock for them? I’d love to get a couple more.
Nice, they're great radios. The M11 is a FHSS 2, so it's compatible with Sanwa FHSS 2 surface receivers. If you have the M11X on the other hand, it is FHSS 3 but also backwards compatible with FHSS 2. FHSS 2 receivers are old and outdated now and will be challenging to find (we do not sell them anymore). FHSS 3 receivers are still available, like this RX-380: www.amainhobbies.com/sanwa-airtronics-rx380-2.4ghz-fhss3-3channel-receiver-m12-mt4-snw107a41077a/p536324 -Brett
Question ??? Would you please tell me what determines the rate of speed the receiver talks to the transmitter back & forth ??? & Why at 150-200ft most loose contact ?
The speed has to do with the latency, or lag. Companies don't usually provide specific latency times for their transmitters. Latency is different than the transmitter range though, which usually has to do with the signal strength between both the transmitter and receiver. -Brett
LOVE THE VID! But you could do a drinking game on how many times you say “transmitter”. Omg. How many times did you say that word 🤣. On a serious note, thanks for the vid ‼️
Very helpful and honest video, I was thinking about it too. And also I love the way you "bother with finding the right transmitter among the rest", wish I had this problem ahhahahah
Thinking about upgrading transmitter. Just a few questions. I currently only have 4 Traxxas rc trucks and I never use self righting, don't like the feel of the transmitters and I've just always wanted to upgrade. I just don't want to spend $500 on a single transmitter. Any suggestions? I'll be going to my local hobby shop tomorrow. Will be upgrading servo in my e Revo 2.0, chassis brace and getting a nice tool kit. I may get more RCs eventually down the road but I'm in no hurry. Just got back into the hobby after about 20 years and quite a bit has changed 😅 Thanks for any help
Sure, one transmitter can definitely serve all those cars. Your upfront costs are a little more expensive because you'll need to purchase 3 additional receivers, one for each vehicle (one is usually included), but then you should be covered. With each new vehicle you have, you'll also need to pick up another receiver, or take one out of another car. The receivers you need, and their cost, will depend on what transmitter you buy. If you save your TQ transmitters & receivers, you can put that system back in the car if you wanted to sell or give it away, always keeping the good equipment for yourself. The electronic pieces you invest in keep forever, whereas the cars/chassis come and go. Hope that helps Michael! -Brett
@@AMain_Hobbies thanks Brett for prompt reply, another question, is traxxas telemetry sensors ( temperature, voltage sensors) will be compatible with futaba, spektrum and Sanwa transmitters? Thank you
Great information. I wondered about the transmitters for RC cars (coming from fpv drones). Your video cleared things up for me. Thanks! A question. Could you suggest a transmitter suitable for a Traxxas Summit if any? It would need a 3 channel switch for differentials and 2 channels to switch gears.
The Spektrum DX5C has 5-channels and many buttons, all programmable to do what you need: www.amainhobbies.com/spektrum-rc-dx5c-5channel-dsmr-surface-radio-w-sr6100at-receiver-spm5120/p1049208 I'm not sure if there is a 3-position switch like the Traxxas radio, it may be a little different, but it would work. -Brett
Bit of a special question regarding quality here: Any you would recommend for someone buying a new one which isn't coming with an RTR model? I am an experienced simracer (16 years of online competition now, more than 22 overall), so no matter how good the controller is, it'll never be as good as my simracing hardware, which means I am both used to paying big for good quality and for knowing quality stuff from average or "slightly advanced". My simrig is worth closer to 10grand than to 5, so I know a bit about spending. But the problem here is... I am not so experienced with RC. I'd like to be and my commitment to stuff I like always is close to insanity, so I quickly get annoyed by quality which isn't right. Though on the other side I don't want to spend twice the price on something which is 5% better. For example, my limited edition Formula Steering Wheel for Simracing is worth about 400€ and still there is plastic on it which annoys me to death in high-tension corners because it bends. But getting something better is safe to cost +1500€ and that is not worth it. Especially as that would be 1500€+400€ for a Rim I won't use anymore... I don't need pro level, but I need something "beyond great". I feel like I am extremely held back by my RTR transmitters and could do so much more, but as you mentioned greatly in your video... adapting to each of them all the time is annoying and none of them feel that acceptable for keeping them.
Sanwa/Airtronics M17 FH5 4-Channel 2.4GHz Radio System w/RX-491 Receiver this is what I have and its amazing experience you will love it but the m12 or mt44 are good as well !
Still have my same Trasmitter with my. RUCKUS Truck and still works great no problems so far and still fast silly fast but could be a touch faster like i said before.
One question, with surface RC, is it usefull the telemetry? I've got an arrma, and I think it will be usefull to know how many battery I wasted or is left. But I'm more from airplanes RC, and I don't have so much experience with cars
It can be useful if you enjoy the data, but telemetry is not necessary for surface vehicles. The ESC and Low Voltage Cutoff in most ESC's is very safe and self-managed, and you have no requirements other than enjoying yourself. -Brett
Hello, I have a question if I use the same control for my rc. I have to pair the controller with each car before use? Or I just change the car on the control
No, you will want a unique receiver in each vehicle. You will have to pair the receiver the first time of use, but after that the transmitter model memory saves the information. The alternative: share one receiver between multiple cars, which will require you to pair each time, calibrate the ESC and reset your trims - big waste of time. You don't want to share receivers, instead each vehicle will have it's own unique receiver. Hope this makes sense Alexis. -Brett
Are most aftermarket remotes waterproof? I want to be able to safely drive my crawlers in the rain. What do you suggest for decent transmitter i can grow into with my rc's?
No they're not. You should check out the Spektrum Rugged for that type of use, it can take a beating and keep coming back: www.amainhobbies.com/spektrum-rc-dx5-rugged-5channel-dsmr-surface-radio-w-sr515-receiver-spm5200/p868683 We made a video on it and even drop-tested it, and it survived. You can watch that video here: ua-cam.com/video/muOaSrjjI_E/v-deo.html -Brett
Are you aware of any receivers that connect to your phone might be traxas as? That is a super nice feature being able to use your phone Versus the screen that comes with some of the controllers..
Yeah, Spektrum has a similar product where you can use the Dashboard app on your phone after getting the bluetooth module for the transmitter. It's pretty nifty. -Brett
New to the hobby and run an Armma Granite, Reflex Buggy, and Tacon Bulwalk. I’m left handed. Like to have one receiver for the mentioned RC and future RC. Which controller and receiver would you recommend?
Hey Rafael. That's a great question. Pretty much all transmitter are configured for right handed use, but some higher end transmitters allow you to swap the steering wheel to the other side. Without knowing your budget, here are two options which are the least expensive. Both of these options features model memory, so if you equip each of your vehicles with a unique receiver, all the trims, throttle calibration and any other settings will be saved, and you can swap between the vehicles in the transmitter. The first option does not include a receiver, it must be purchased separetely; the second option does include one receiver. AMain Hobbies thank you! This gives me a great start. Since I am new to the hobby, I don’t need championship professional grade top of the line controller...am not competing and most likely will not use all the bells and whistles for now. Just need a controller to be more comfortable as a left handed and to experience a much better play time, race and off roading. If you think of other controls, let me know. Also, for receivers, where is a good place to buy receivers to install in the buggies? Are all receivers equal or are there some better then others?
@@juliuscaesar8801 Well, you'd want to buy them from AMain Hobbies of course; www.amainhobbies.com . We sell all the transmitters, receivers and everything else R/C. For picking receivers, they're all pretty good. It needs to be compatible with your transmitter, but they usually vary in how many channels they have, but they typically work equally as well. I'd recommend getting the same receiver that comes with the transmitter to play it safe. -Brett
I have a kyosho inferno neo st 3.0 I would like to upgrade my transmitter and reciever. What would be a good pair for my Kyosho or recommend? Something in the mid range not to cheap and not too expensive. Pls advise thank you. I love this channel
No, that will not work. You can't join Tactic and Spektrum. It must be Spektrum to Spektrum. Axial used to use Tactic radio systems, but now they use Spektrum, so that's why I say you can connect to Axial. Sorry for the confusion, but hope this helps. -Brett
I'd like to see a true latency test between the brands. They all make claims, but customers should have the true times. Knowing where each radio is made is also a bonus to know who to support. Hitec, Futaba, Sanwa, Flysky, Spectrum, Etc. All the brands.
Love that at the end "Please consult with your wife before making a purchase" lololol

Very convincing video! I go back to the days of AM radios and then FM was the best to have!! LOL
I am long overdue for a radio upgrade and now the prices are very attractive for me....
Hey Santa " got your ears on " ??? LOL
I still have an old school JR system from 2002 lol

Hell yes!
1 transmitter to trim them all
1 transmitter to drive them
1 transmitter to program them
and all my RC's bind them!

Please do a video on different Nitro content fuels and their uses. I'm looking to dive into Nitro again, and all the more info the better. Love your content and I look forward to your next video!
Great information. I just got my Futaba 4PM from you and impressed me :)
Oh, you hit the moon. That 7PX is really nice! I'm a little jealous but I like how you think. Well done.
-Brett
@@ChinaExpatsRC I'm also annoyed at the cost of the ESC and that you need a proprietary programming box. Oh how I miss BLHeli...

Great Vid
I got the m12s too. I love it
When I first started flying RC Planes, you invested in the RTF setup with the pre- programmed transmitter.
I do exactly that and bind all my RC cars to one good radio transmitter, and I could use some help with this related question:
Whenever I buy a new RC car I get rid of the provided transmitter and receiver, and I bind it to my Flysky radio instead.
I assume I am not the only person with this problem. 🤷🏻♂️
Was that a Kimbrough scalloped wheel horn at about the 3 1/2 minute mark? Best accessory ever!

No mention of any Flysky?
@ Chris S. FLYSKY NOBLE ALL THE WAY!!!
Yah.... so weird not been mentioned here
Not wierd. Amain is an online store that doesn't sell Flysky.
I got a fly sky transmitter and got receivers for all my cars. It’s nice having one controller for everything and the range is so much better.
Bars&tone RC only thing flysky needs to catch now is with their latency. Futaba 5ms vs 15 ms on flysky?
He did mention that...

To be honest I haven't had any issues with the rtr transmitters from traxxas, I run my xmaxx twice a week only, no worries here.
Trying to see if I can make these old Rc work again now that I got back into the hobby although I just bought a new Pro2sc10
Many rc radios is a must. This way your friends that can’t afford expensive toys can play with you.
Wow Brett I've been needing this for a really long time thank you so very much for doing this video much appreciated have a great one now.!!!!!!!!
Airtronics were always the best for me back in the 90s with the old RC10s. I believe they are Sanwa now but I may be wrong. Whats a good transmitter the pros use these days?
The m11x is the transmitter I use! I love it!
This was a great video, I have a spectrum DX4R pro and it has changed my rc experience.

Actually love the hsp stock ones they never miss a beat
I love my Futaba 4PX! Happy racing y’all
i thought about going for 1 remote, but that totally rules out having a friend drive. and i love to see my rigs in convoys
Oh wow I’ve had this question for a while! Thanks for telling me that it will work! Now I’ve only got to get an additional receiver 👍 Thanks!
Great job Brett 👍🏼. I’m a Futaba 4PX owner and I love it.

Do you guys need any RtR transmitters? I think I have about 15 of them with receivers.
Ha, we're good on those for now, but thanks.

Thanks for the low down Brett, great job
I usually stick with 27mhz, so easy to bind and find. I even found some in a dump. All I need some servo reverse, throttle steering trim

You will need to find a controller that was made for that vehicle, then add your own crystals.

and in case of the transmitter I got with my kraton, the upgraded TX has no delay and a better range
Flysky noble nb4 is hands-down the best remote for it's price. 500$ performance for half price. Performs ,looks and feels great.
I'm thinking about either at DX5C or DX5 pro. Haven't been able to find much comparison wise. I live in the sticks so my phone is my only internet
I have both, the DX5R/PRO is a great upgrade over the DX5C/RUGGED. Either will be great, but if you have the extra money I'd get the DX5R/PRO.
Does one drain the battery faster Henry?
What are your thoughts on the flysky transmitters and receivers?
The are way slower in response than my futaba 3pv or any other premium transmitter. Day and night if you want instant response.
@@acereport8939 sounds like I'll be doing some investing
Its ok transmitter, i prefer spektrum or futaba radios. The thing is with flysky is they suck battery life and they are slow compared to spektrum and futaba (transmitting time). Personally id spend the extra money for a GOOD radio that you dont have to modify like the flysky stuff.
We don't carry that brand so I don't have any experience with it, but I've heard mixed reviews.

Yes, there are transmitters that can be adjusted for left hand use, although it is usually reserved for higher-end models. i made the same switch. your going to love it
Does a more expensive RC actually work better for racing, I mean more than just for comfort?
Would a traxxas TQi work OK for racing if it was used in Team associated car?
The main issue is how many people will pay $50 per futaba receiver when you can get similar receiver for 10-15 bucks from flysky or radiolink. Futaba needs to bring prices down to 25ish level for their receivers and then maybe their $250 radio might be a better deal
Expected box to have a bunch of xmitters in it since he was talking about them taking up a lot of space... single one inside and foam.

I did exactly this as I wanted to cut down on my radios.
I did stumble on an issue, I bought the DX5R Pro and the SR6100AT and tried to use it on my E-Revo Brushless that has 2 steering servos.

Beautifully explained, thank you. Great Channel.
Splitters come in all different lengths: www.amainhobbies.com/eflite-t28-servo-yharness-efl08261/p1252429

FHSS 3 receivers are still available, like this RX-380: www.amainhobbies.com/sanwa-airtronics-rx380-2.4ghz-fhss3-3channel-receiver-m12-mt4-snw107a41077a/p536324

-Brett
AMain Hobbies Ok so,years ago we increased the signal strength in a CB radio by adding a phase linear.? Antenna signal booster.
Very informative. Great video presentation Brett.

Just got back into the hobby after about 20 years and quite a bit has changed 😅
Thanks for any help

A question. Could you suggest a transmitter suitable for a Traxxas Summit if any? It would need a 3 channel switch for differentials and 2 channels to switch gears.
The Spektrum DX5C has 5-channels and many buttons, all programmable to do what you need: www.amainhobbies.com/spektrum-rc-dx5c-5channel-dsmr-surface-radio-w-sr6100at-receiver-spm5120/p1049208
I'm not sure if there is a 3-position switch like the Traxxas radio, it may be a little different, but it would work.

@@AMain_Hobbies thanks man. Looks great.
Bit of a special question regarding quality here:
Any you would recommend for someone buying a new one which isn't coming with an RTR model?

Does any company sell a surface radio that already comes with a battery pack as I don’t have a solder gun and wouldn’t want to mess up the procedure

@@AMain_Hobbies thank you!

Great information once again. Thanks Brett
Are most aftermarket remotes waterproof? I want to be able to safely drive my crawlers in the rain. What do you suggest for decent transmitter i can grow into with my rc's?
No they're not. You should check out the Spektrum Rugged for that type of use, it can take a beating and keep coming back: www.amainhobbies.com/spektrum-rc-dx5-rugged-5channel-dsmr-surface-radio-w-sr515-receiver-spm5200/p868683
We made a video on it and even drop-tested it, and it survived. You can watch that video here: ua-cam.com/video/muOaSrjjI_E/v-deo.html

Love your passion pal👍🏻

When should I upgrade my transmitter I currently have a 3pv have 3 cars on it and I've been racing with it for 2 years
I have a kyosho inferno neo st 3.0 I would like to upgrade my transmitter and reciever. What would be a good pair for my Kyosho or recommend? Something in the mid range not to cheap and not too expensive. Pls advise thank you. I love this channel
I would go with any of the transmitters recommended at the end of the video; such as the 3PV, MX-6 or DX5C.

You stated that the Spektrum can connect to Axial RTRs. Does that include the Tactic TR325 in the SCX 10.2s? I can't find anything to back this up.
No, that will not work. You can't join Tactic and Spektrum. It must be Spektrum to Spektrum. Axial used to use Tactic radio systems, but now they use Spektrum, so that's why I say you can connect to Axial. Sorry for the confusion, but hope this helps.
