- In this video we premiere and exhibit one of our latest Innovations, "Antenna-less" Air receivers! In this video we talk with Technical Director and one of the founders of SpektrumRC, John Adams! Follow along to learn more!
And if you want to pick up a few of these bad boys, check them out on our webpage at bit.ly/AR410RX and bit.ly/AR620RX and at your local Spektrum retailer!
I have the ar620 in my EDF Jet. Love it. So small no antennas, this is the future of RC. Hope to see a 9 Channel and better availability in Australia!
I use this on my seagull turbo beaver with an OS GT22cc engine and I'm impressed with a range and very fast recovery reciever that you dont even noticed that there's something happen. And the best of all channel 5 remains on the last position for my opto kill switch it doesn't shut down my engine incase of HOLD:1 or transmitter failure. Everything was tested from the ground to the air switching off the remote while it's on the air. YES ITS TRUSTED RECIEVER
This is great ! I hope they expand the channels and incorporate a three axis gyro at some point in the near future. I use Spektrum transmitter and receiver products exclusively.
:) ;)
I would like to eliminate all of the GPS and GEO fence on the carbon cub S + , ,Will this bind with the DXe transmitter that comes with the carbon cub s+ ? ?
Will there also be updates with the new antenna and bind button to the AS3X receivers? (AR636 and others)
Would this receiver work good in a 75 inch wingspan pattern plane? Love your products!
Just bought a new Spektrum Tx and two of these receivers. I love them!
Yay spektrum bind buttons! 😀👍🏻
Perhaps use this technology for satellite antennae. That way they could get even more reception/ better range. just a thought
Didn't get you guys, it's the AR620 range 500 to 800 feet's! Or this is the range to receive telemetry data? Hope someone explains
Hi Tom, Ive had one of the 620 for some time now and never had any issue's with it. Very recently I did the latest update and am wondering if now if the update made it AS3X/SAFE compatible? Or was the update just to fix bugs in the background?? When I built and bound the RX in my NX8 it showed foward programming in the function list but would not allow the safe and as3x screens to come up to use the fow prog functions.
Thanks in advance
The ports are labeled by numbers and not by function. Does anyone know what 1 2 3 4 5 6 are? Like which one is throttle which one is aileron flap elevator rudder gear?
I have one but havent gotten to use her yet if its beats the range of a good bnf sat ill lyk.... doubtful tho
How come, that all E-Flite BNFs are equipped with AR631 or 637TA if the receiver models with integrated antennas have superior reception? Or is this for the sake of a better telemetry range only? (Like, signal transmission back to the radio works better with external antenna?)
Hi, I have a proboat 2 channel system with spektrum 2.4 GHz Marine technology transmitter for more than 10 yeaars. However my receiver is not working, anymore, which receiver should I buy to replace my old one. Please help thanks.
It’s pretty impossible to have it 3 inches or more away from the battery etc,in the planes I have everything is closely packed in together under the canopy lid
It may work fine, most important object to keep spaced away from it is the battery, and only then if it is a fairly large pack. Smaller means less chance for signal blockage :)
@@SpektrumRCvideos so it's okay for the reciver to be under a closed canopy lid?
@@dazspurs9899 As long as the canopy is not made of metal or carbon fiber it should be fine :)
@@SpektrumRCvideos thanks for replying 👍🏻
Can the Batt port on the left of the throttle port be used as an aux channel or 7th ch. on the 620?
Im building rc boats and I am wondering what you suggest? Is there a waterproof receiver for my Dx6r? Is there a receiver that has a long aerial?
Hi Duncan! Yes there are! The MR4000 fits the bill nicely. www.horizonhobby.com/mr4000-dsmr-4-ch-marine-rec-spmmr4000
@@SpektrumRCvideos thanks for the reply but you're MR4000 doesn't fit the bill as you say ! I bought a DX6R for 6 channels not 4 or I could have saved $400 ! This is if i ever get the DX6R working as it doesn't recognize my controller as a DX6R for the firmware update needed to get it up and running
Duncan mcmullan sell it and get a taranis, you re much better of with that for a cheaper price
In view of the new smart esc can I use these Rex’s with my dx9 and benefit from smart technology
I am relatively new to telemetry. Are there any detailed instructions on setting up Tele with one of these receivers and a DX8 G2? @SpektrumRC
Use the manual. Or download it. It's not rocket science
I thought I saw a small port on the side of 1 of the Rxs in the video, but since there was no mention of being able to add a remote Rx/Satellite, we must assume there is no way to add an external antenna. Is that correct Spektrum/HH?
Hi Hifin, there is no port for a remote receiver. Good question! Thank you
@@SpektrumRCvideos ....so whats the port for ?
hello thanks for the video tec talk ….i have a question …i have a ZOHD ORBIT wing with ZOHD ELECTRICS ….i want to take out the zohd receiver and put one of my specrum recievers into it and connect to the zohd stabilizer which has take off mode and stabilization mode on it …..will the spectrum receiver talk the same language as the zohd stabilizer or will i have to get a spectrum safe stabilizer receiver ….or am i letting my imagination run riot with me ……… i look forward to yr reply thanks….
Lot's of good info. Thanks! Sticking this in my new Freewing Avanti S
Algum BR que já usou poderia me falar alguma coisa desses receptores creio que sejam muito bons pelo preço que está.......
I’ve got some of these to try.
Will there be antenna-less remote receivers? That would be nice!
Good info. Not sure if its my speakers but the second guy sounds like hes on skype. :) Anyway will any of these antenna-less receivers have options to add more telemetry connections? Would love to at least have lipo pack voltage. Thanks
I like them but wish the channel assignments were printed instead of just numbers!
how is it setup in connection with the transmitter ?
does it or doe it not measure RSSI ? if so , how ?
please elaborate
Can you remove the case from the 4 channel rx to reduce weight, and if so, how much does the naked receiver weigh?
Lmfao why? It's already super light.
You want a micro receiver then buy one
What is the best way to go if I want battery voltage and Rssi telemetry on a drone?
Frsky Taranis
Can I use AR620 with my 20cc stick? Any setup advice?
800ftvof range? Have I understood that right? That's not much.
When that's better, why do the old ones have a wire?
Which one will do altitude and give me vario? Im using a DX8 GEN2
How do you register or update these ..the wont work with SPMA3065 programing cable .
I’m a huge fan of the AR630.
So this doesnt have flight pack voltage? A bit disappointing.
Yes, mine shows flight pack voltage on the telemetry screen.
My receiver has low range I got the DSX Transmitter with the AR410 receiver.
Hi JBRC, Make sure your AR410 is a good distance from any batteries or fuel. more then 3 inches
@@SpektrumRCvideos Thank you. JB
@@SpektrumRCvideos Can I wrap the battery with Tin foil ?
I struggle to see how that might help? I would not recommend it and likely will only make matters worse for the RF.
@@SpektrumRCvideos WEll. i AM struggling with this Radio and receiver, it is the worst thing ever I wasted 200 dollars Canadian it crashed my plane so I want a refund from Spectrum. Thanks
I really like this! Any change of antenna-less remote receivers? They would be fantastic :)
I have got airelons, rudder, elevator all working fine, but I cannot get any response when I move the throttle stick on the DS6 . What am I doing wrong?
Make sure your throttle trim is in the middle. If it is too high, the esc will not initialize because it thinks it is getting input and as a safety feature it will disable output until it sees throttle at a low input.
I have a 4 channel version, is it hard to damage these? Mines on the bottom of a flying wing.
No
Will this work with the old original DX7's that are DSM2 only?
Yes they will!
What is the actual range on this receiver? can you spec out a 3 meter sailplane?
It is a full range receiver which is line of sight. If you can see the model you can fly it. On our ground tests we were getting about .95 of a mile, but that is literally on the ground walking away from the tx until it failsafes. it is much better in the air because it is more open with less reflection and blockage from the ground. Should work very well on a 3 meter sailplane. Hope that helps!
@@SpektrumRCvideos Thank You. I appreciate the response. I will be buying one for my Bird of Time.
Going to put one in my Parkzone T-28
Would be ok to use it on a 30CC gasser, like a Giant Big Stick? Or too much for it?
If the RX is placed appropriately, then it will work, but in Gas and other combustion powered models you have more chances of the signal being blocked my items in the airframe. Such as fuel tanks and the engine. If you are going to use in one of these models then make sure that the RX is well away from other objects that can block signal. For the best reception with out signal path blockage, we recommend a receiver with a remote receiver.
Hi, currently I'm using ar6210(discontinued). Can I use these new ones for 3kg balsa plane?
Absolutely!
Finally something for a DLG! But no support for vario :/
Useless for any DLG with a carbon nose cone (ie most modern ones).
Yeah, vario would be nice, but I would still want 7 channel for powered full house.
Range testing ar620 in a small foamy EDF at low power at thirty Paces worked.... at 35 paces nothing??
Need 1 answer please. Got a FMS 1400 mm p 40. My rudder and tail wheel moves in opposite direction. I’m using ar620 with a dx8 g2 My question is , can I use the battery port on the receiver as an auxiliary port to separate the rudder and tail wheel I also have the same problem in my FMS 1700 mm p51 with my flaps and cowl flap door Keep in mind I tried a y harness to eliminate the board in the plane and the issue still exists. Thanks
Boston SAM Hmmm, normally FMS has a break out board that takes care of this. Did you swap the servo for something non-oem? Unfortunately no the Battery port is only a battery port. If you are out of channels and need to reverse a servo I would suggest a in line servo reverser. Hope that helps!
SpektrumRC stock planes. Can you send me a link for reverser? I need 2
@@sambuvca22 We no longer make one :( But there are plenty to be found on Ebay. A simple google search for "servo reverser" will point you in the right direction :)
SpektrumRC I found them. I appreciate your help and let it be known, I only use spektrum products in my birds. I’ll looking into servo replacement. I was able to reverse servo arm and move the servo starboard so the arm was free of tension on p40.
Not sure I have that option with p51 though.
Would be nice if they would tell you that while it is DMS2 compatible it is truly NOT completely DMS2 compatible. Their new chipsets don’t work well with some older transmitters such as JR 9303 2.4. and some others.
When are these coming out?
Very soon! Next week at the latest!
Not sure how well this build in antenna really works. Flying a SIG 4star with a Spektrum DX6 and this AR620 for 9 minutes I get 138 frame losses. There is nothing in the way of the RX that can obstruct a signal. The battery is 6" away and I stayed within 500 to 600 ft max. A satellite can NOT be added. Horizon told me to set the frame loss alarm to 20 !!! Is this RX safe to use???
I just got this receiver and kind of crashed landed my plane. I did range test on the ground it was not very encouraging.
Would these be good in Rc boats ? If not which would you recommend
a boat receiver
Gibt es das auch in deutsch?
How to connect AR620 with Pixhawk cube ...
Kindly explore connection with Pixhawk cube
I'm curious if these will work with the DX5C for a land RC?
They will not.
Thank you for the quick reply.
So what happens when the bind button gets pressed while flying?
The bind button only works at power-on or if you hold it down for a significant time before it gets signal from your radio.
So it won't do anything if you press it during flight
@ 2.05 - might want to rewatch this.
Yes, John didn't get into the super-specifics here, but it's in the manual. :-) "The receiver will also enter bind mode if you power on the receiver and then press the bind button before the receiver has connected to any transmitter."
Brian Phillips do you plan on flying your airplane with a mouse inside and you are worried that he might press the bind button? How the heck are you going to press the bind button on your receiver while in flight.
Guy on the left keeps chiming in interrupting the guy on the right and I didn't catch everything he said. He also didn't explain the purpose of the 2 fail safe modes and when or why you would use either one. Not very helpful. Manual Indicates 300-400 foot fly-by range.
Sailplane mode, you can set it to dump it out of a thermal vs flying away (you can set it to deploy spoilers and down elevator). In normal it just levels the control surfaces and kills the throttle
Anyone know what is flyby
Does it have AS3X?
No mention of AS3X so I would guess no AS3X.
Will it still work with the gen one dx7 with no problems?
Absolutely!
Having an internal antenna on a quad would be ideal. I know I'm dreaming!
I think I'll buy a plane with this receiver on it and use it for other planes too.
Without the case, how much does it weigh? I know 7 grams isn't much but was just curious what weight reductions I could get if I replaced the case with a sleeve.
Do either of you know David Cogswell?
I would glad to try them in Q/500
why not more channels ?
I GOT BOTH AND I CAN CONFIRM THAT THESE RECEIVERS GOT MUCH BETTER RANGE THAN AR635 FROM MY VISIONAIRE WHICH I JUST CRASH DUE SIGNAL LOST :( DOES ANYBODY HAVE THE SAME EXPERIENCE WITH AR635?
Will these recivers work with the DX 9
Yes
Is the AR620 suitable for 60, 90 and 120 size airplanes ?
Really depends on your setup. If you can get the receiver far enough from batteries, ESC, Engines etc then you should be ok. That being said, a comprehensive range test is always recommended. Hope that helps!
Would it be best to install a Remote Antenna/ Receiver to the AR620 ?
Does it have AS3X? or maybe in the future?
Price? Under $30
29.99 for the 4 channel!
Can you use this in a align trex 450?
Best to use one equipped with a fly bar less system or specific to helis.
But if you're good at dealing with spektrum programming then yes they are great
What's the range like? Anyone knows?
Well, considering your YT profile mentions RC Truckers, I would assume you are asking about these receivers in a surface model, and they are not designed for that. That said, these have excellent range when used in an aircraft :) in our testing they get well over 3500 feet but depending on your setup and installation your mileage may vary ;)
Would these receivers work with Dx4s transmitter?? Thanks
Why? You have 4 channels. Buy something that isnt a toy and get enough channels to progress and actually learn.
Never buy a receiver with more channels than your transmitter
@@krotchlickmeugh627 will these work in rc trucks too🤔 better than having short wires within the receiver box I guess
@@gonzodetroitify I don't see why not. But you won't be able to use your remote I don't believe. They have surface versions of this same receiver tho
is this compatible with the dx5c?
No, Air only
Better range than what
AR400 and AR610 and other single feeder antenna receivers.
Conventional wired antenna version...
SpektrumRC hello I'm trying to get some kind antenna like TBS Crossfire for dx6e controller can you recommend something of you product 4 long range
With out a trainer or serial port on the DX6e, you are going to be hard pressed to get a long range module to work. One thing you could do is get a Sbus receiver, like the AR7700, and use that as a sort of daisy chain to a Crossfire, but that is a big work around. If you want the best of crossfire the iX12 is the way to go.
@@romanagosto9. To me, it sounds like you have not done your homework and want to send something way way out there. I have the DX6E and it's great for my planes, but I also have more Spektrum, and Futaba, and FrSky (each their own purpose). Really though, do keep asking questions so you can find out you can't slap an antenna on something and fly to the moon.
Will my battery with a Deans plug fit?
No, we recommend using a ESC, BEC or Receiver pack for power
@@SpektrumRCvideos thank you, I used to fly rc 30 years ago and the battery plugged into the receiver, though that was with an engine, ic
So much AWESOME
can you use this in helis?
Not recommended
I really like the idea of no antenna
How about lowering you prices on ground receivers as well.
What happened to your audio???
can it be used in an electric car?
Not recommended :) But you can if you are using a "Air" Transmitter
@@SpektrumRCvideos does it need a separate power source or could it be powered by the esc?
Why? If the antenna was 30" long I could see the point. The old receivers didn't need a 'bind' button. It seems to introduce more problems - in fact it makes things more critical.
When your antenna wire gets bent because of limited space in your battery bay you will figure out why. This is especially true for 64mm and other smaller airframe models.
Are they ok in boats
Sweet great for the hobby.............
Ah Hummm, On one of my planes I have a total Carbon fiber fuselage, without an external antenna this wont work. And 800 foot range limit? So much for FPV...
800' is for the telemetry, not the control link.
Range is great on foam or balsa models, beyond line of sight. But with carbon sheeted pods and fuselages you will still want to use a antenna with a whip that can escape the fuselage. Hope that helps!
NICEEE!
Bidi srxl?
Not on the AR410 and AR620.
Thanks for the reply. I hope some receivers in the future will support it
Still not as cheap as a lemon rx no thanks. Price them at $15 and $20 and maybe you will sell more.
Yeah but lemon are shit so thats why
@@mark675 false I run them in all my planes even 50cc. Orange rx is shit, but lemon is in another ball park of their own. I have never had signal loss with my lemon rx with a satellite on them. however i have had issues with my $150 dsmx helicopter receiver not wanting to stay bound. i realize once in a while you get a bad receiver, but so far i have had zero problems with a Lemon RX.
Time to LOWER the prices of the remotes !! It does not make sense a full range receiver as this costs $ 39 and a remote $ 34 !!
Need a 9channel one also
The Frsky rx4r and rx6r smoke this lemmon pos for multitude of reasons, longer range, half the weight, less than half the size (volume), lower cost, TELEMETRY full range (not some 600 quacks, about 1/3rd the radio range, yep, telemetry is only ~1/3 the radio range, so how are you supposed to tell your azz to turn around before your lose RF, pathetic imo) before you lose control and CRASH your model with zero warning (with speKrum is ZERO warning, you just crash and lose hundreds of dollars and hours). I will give it thumbs up! Now you can lose control and crash your expensive model for only $30! Time to try a real system Frsky, 24ch, telemetry, voice for $70, lol, LMAOROG all the way home. Been using Frsky for 11 years, 30K flights in 11 years, ZERO glighes, = quality for low cost=Burn on SpekCrummy.
How much does frsky pay you? lol.
@@mtlfpv Zero, I like frsky stuff because it works and does not lose rf link and lose my stuff or glitch, all for much less cost. Hint, you dont always get what you pay for (Spekrum). Look at how little you get and the price this cost, just taking advantage of the uninformed, poor victims, reminds me of CrApple. The best comeback I hear at my field, speky has great service, be cause they need to use it so often, just sad. I have a Taranis x9d from the first batch, zero issues in 7+ years, almost 40 Rx's, what would that set you back going speky, about a house down payment. 6ch for almost $300 shipped, lol, wtf they thinking? That is just wrong. www.horizonhobby.com/product/dx6-6-channel-dsmx-transmitter-only-gen-3/SPMR6750.html The smartest thing speky has done was hire a guy that new 2.4ghz freq hopping and hired him to get it to work, I will give them credit for hiring that guy.
They kinda suck, they are numbered instead of being labeled, rudder, elevator etc...
@spektrumrc can i remove all sorts of failsafe?
Why would you want to? There is no way to turn failsafes off completely. There are 2 options for how failsafe is performed and that is covered in the manual :)
