    Thanks for a rational opinion! I agree completely - all the SMART items are way over priced. Once Spektrum realizes that their current pricing is not going to fly then begin to lower their prices to compete with other manufacturers, I'll jump on board especially with the ESC. I have 2 AR8020T receivers and they are great.

      Those are good choices. You should also get the Spektrum USB dongle too and Real Flight simulator so that you can practice. Flying RC is fun and rewarding, but it is difficult to learn. The first crashes usually make people want to stop. Make your first 1,000 crashes happen on a simulator.

    Matthew Does spektrum have a combination receiver and esc and smart battery that will warn you when your battery is below a selected voltage in the telemetry menu? Or do you have to use the sending wire that gets connected to you lipo ?

    • @MatthewHeiskell
      @MatthewHeiskell  2 роки тому

      The simplest and cheapest solution is to use the telemetry receiver only, but you have to connect those two voltage sensing wires to the battery. The other option is to use the telemetry receiver and smart ESC together. That will work with any battery too. And you won’t need to connect those two voltage sensing wires to your battery.

    • @MatthewHeiskell
      @MatthewHeiskell  2 роки тому

      That’s a good question! I’m not sure of the answer, but I think that the virtual fence capable receiver is a full blown flight controller. They need to be far away from each other and the short active part at the end need to be 90 degrees from the other one. It’s scary thought that I might blow up the unit when I put high voltage lipo into the telemetry port. There’s no information about max voltage it can take. I took a chance to inject a 7s lipo, low and behold, it reads the voltage correctly and I didnt blow it up. I havent tried over 7s voltage, maybe anyone can find out whats the max voltage

      You’ve got to be pretty close! I thought 6s was the max. It might be in the spec sheet.

      @@MatthewHeiskell I couldn't find any info about it in spec sheet or manual on the net. OrangeRX and LemonRX mention in theirs. They could take up to 50V or 12s. It's a very disappointing that Spektrum is not very clear about their products

    I guess in 2021 it’s cheaper and safe to go with a flight controller that won’t basically “fly away” and bring no matter what your model back or at least provide the last coordinates.

      This receiver is 100% manual control only. It does not even have gyro stabilization (AS3X).

      That would be a great plane for the vario! You can turn the rising/falling tones on and adjust the volume. I bet you can turn it on/off with a switch in the custom voice setup menu.
