OMG thank you for this video. I have. 2022 Ram 2500 and I have same issue. Called them and they offered money back or wait until new once comes out and they will send it out for free. Phew!!!
Thank you for posting.I have a g m c that I put the monster exhaust on 2023, and I had a p24DA code Called banks and said they've never heard of anyone having an issue.Imagine that! So I'll call him and see if they'll be good on the return policy.
S&B went through several revisions before they settled on one that didn't set codes. We have at least two of the versions in our shop. They appear to have solved it by restricting airflow to stock levels.
@JayTilles I'm assuming with the increased airflow with banks requires more fuel through the injectors. My truck would cut power like it wasn't getting enough fuel. It would throw P0402 every drive. They both increased my mpg by 2. I can live with that as long as I'm not having issues anymore.
So I will add my experience. I decided earlier this year to get the banks power bundle (boost tubes, air box, air horn, exhaust tube: whole shebang: worked a ton of overt time to pay for it up front so I have invested a lot of time to this) got down the road and got a error code P026A (Charge Air Cooler). No debris on the cooler, no new bumper (stock) and towing a 8K bumper pull trailer. Seemed it was okay, all hoses, clamps and sensors were solidly installed. I called Banks and they didn't have an answer other than to record the MAT (Mass Air Temp, in coming). So did that (with I-dash; glad I opted for that; everyone should at least get that upgrade) light came on again while in TX traveling through oil fields (methane smell was bad) along with the P0111 IAT (intake air temperature). I cleared that code and got from Hobbs New Mexico border with TX and to Dallas no problem so far. Since finding this video AND THANK YOU FOR posting it; I am calling Banks to see what if any update they have but our codes are different than posted here. I will check back. Some forums are suggesting it just an algorithm and the temps, pressure are slightly out of whack from stock and it's okay.....but man that sensor check engine light is a demon. Thanks for the channel.
No worries brother, the code is posted about, bank has known about it for a long time and still has done nothing about it. At least I got my money back!!!! Keep me posted!!
I just bought monster ram and the ram cold air filter just finished started the truck drove about 5 mile engine light came on showed code po402 so I you tube it and others 😢 had same issue thanks for sharing this problem that banks knows about and quit selling this product it’s a inconvenient time it take to install
I put this on my 2024 Ram 2500 diesel also and got that code too. I cleared the code and so far so good it hasn’t come back but I’ve only drove like 50miles so we’ll see. Banks told me they are working on the issue and will notify me when they get something figured out or I can return it. Gonna keep it for now and see what they come up with. The Cold air intakes are kicking over the P0402 codes, on cars as well. I have a car. I have to remove the intake system and going back to stop. Looks like the issue is the vehicle is trying to keep the ratio's straight and that means it is draining you tank. Thanks for your video. PS. bad news, during my tenure with Cold Air, I replaced my Cats! (Yikes1)
I have a 2020 RAM 2500 Laramie 6.7L. I installed the Bank RAM Air System and about 2 weeks later my CEL popped on. I figured maybe it was just due the conditions I was driving under. I scanned & cleared the code, then again yesterday the CEl came back on with the same code P0402

I have this intake on my 2022 and have the same problem. A friend of mine has a 2022 ram and has every banks product, intake, boost tube's, intake manifold. He never gets an engine light. I've used his truck to tow a 10k trailer from NY to WV through the mountains and the check engine light never came on, weird. I think with just the intake alone, it's too much air coming in and not moving it maybe?
Yea it's wild, but thats exactly what's happening, where the sensors are seeing too much air andddddd it only happens with some Rams! Unfortunately it happened with mine where I can't keep running the intake for power but Fortunately, I found the problem with research and I'm able to help tons of people before they go and spend thousands for a simple issue!
Thanks for the video, I also watched your video on the EGR Valve cleaning and need some advice. I purchased my ‘22 Ram Cummins 3 days ago, dealership said it was good to go and had the shop go through it. About 150 miles later the check engine light came on, P0402. The truck came with a Banks CAI on it, but now I’m contemplating on going back to stock, just have to find a used one. My truck only has 30,000 miles on it, but am wondering if the Banks system would have triggered the light sooner than the 150 miles, or do you think it is more likely the EGR. Any advice would help, thanks! (Also, did you have to clear the code or will the computer sense the issue is resolved and turn off on its own after so many miles of use)
I'm pretty sure that check engine light has to do with that cold air intake. NOT the EGR. The check engine light could have come on sooner or even later, because there's no set time how the computer wants to throw the code.... Also, if you go back to stock, you have to turn the check engine light off either with a scan tool or disconnecting both batteries for thirty minutes. The scan tool would be a better option. ua-cam.com/video/LLPw9ztV3gE/v-deo.htmlsi=ysMANPpJ84dAnE4Y
@@WikedWips Thank you! Wondering if you have heard anything about the S&B CAI system, sounds like others have had this issue and switched to S&B and no more codes.
@RK-wx5jm S&B is fine, but to be honest, i really don't know if it makes sense using it. For instance, the reason why the check engine light is popping on when you're using the banks, is because that intake is actually seeing more air flow, so the sensors are causing it to throw a code. I spoke to someone using S&B and they told me, it doesn't feel any different from using a stock intake. Hope this helps!
@RK-wx5jm also I don't know if this helps any, but banks usually would take back the cold air intake and refund you. But since you bought the truck from the dealership and it came with the intake, I don't know what will happen.
