Soozie Snake and the greenery is also pleasing to the palette. I love when my deer friends come to visit, although I know that they only love me for the plush areas of moss that I’ve cleared of brush 😐🤗🦌
Geiger Farm thanks! Yeah, I watched all of Curtis Stone The Urban Farmer videos and he was a fan of the Jang, but still used the Earthway to seed spinach. Once I get the rollers and gears dialed in and learn how to drive straight this will be great. So much easier and efficient than hand seeding!
Man that seeder will be a boon for your market garden! Fast! Hand seeding such large areas would be really time consuming especially as you expand! Love seeing things fluff up ❤️
Judi Ivy SO MUCH EASIER AND FASTER 😃👍 When I get the right rollers and get the gears figured out this will be a game changer! Yes, I’m super excited that garden finally kind of looks like a garden and not just a bunch of dirt hills 😄🤗💛
The beds are starting to fill up Katherine. It must be very time-saving with the Jang seeder and then you don't have to thin the carrots I reckon. Well done with your sowing. Looking forward to see the bed when the carrots have germinated. I use to cover my carrots, but not this year for the first time. 🤔 Your beds are looking really great. So good that you can start harvesting for sale. Very nice shot at the end. Thanks.
Benni L yes, it was so much easier and faster to seed that whole bed of carrots with the Jang then to do it by hand! I really wish that I had known to buy the LJ-24 roller so that I could have spaced the seeds at about one inch and planted only five rows. I expect that when the carrots germinate it’s going to look like a forest and will be a pain to control weeds until the carrots have grown up. It is nice to have much of the planting done and be able to focus more on harvesting now 😊
Planet Vegan wait until next week and I’ll be harvesting and freaking out about whether I’ve grown enough 😄 It seems like the deer usually shed their winter coat by now, but it’s been pretty chilly, so maybe that’s why this one-year-old is still shaggy.
You're about to be full up in there! So I am still figuring stuff out with the Jang and I have a couple ideas for what they're worth. On the gears I never change them, I use a chart on Curtis's Paperpot.co site that uses all the same gear set up. It's not all inclusive though. That being said I will be trying some different gear ratios for a couple things(namely radishes) that I feel are too dense. Another idea that I am pondering has to do with planting the short blocks/rows. I don't need a whole row of certain things like radishes and some auxiliary greens I want to do. So I am thinking about trying to interplant a couple of rows to the outside of another crop such as salanova or whatever. My thinking is that way I get to run the whole distance with the seeder and I have different species sharing root space, hopefully increasing diversity of soil biology. And I still have less of that crop that I didn't need a ton of. I have had some inter planting flops and successes but Jesse has pinned down some cool combos that seem to work. Hope that is useful, still a bit fluid for me as I'm trying to figure it out myself. Congrats on selling again this year!
@Paxtiano Dirt Frog I wish that I'd known to buy the LJ-24 roller so that I wouldn't have had to think about changing gears. Having to use the LJ-12, it didn't seem worth switching gears just to go from 2.5-inch down to the smallest 2-inch spacing. I just looked back at Curtis Stone's Jang video ua-cam.com/video/BjelRDqlIQ4/v-deo.html and he sets the gears at 14/9 where I'm using 13/10. I don't know how big of a difference it is between the two settings. I'll have to check my radishes to see if they look like they're spaced too closely. I haven't watched Jesse's most recent video where it looks like he shows some of his recent interplanting experiments. That's a good idea, maybe just running one or two full bed-lengths of a certain crops together rather than trying to plant a bunch of short rows. Thank you! I'm going to cogitate on that idea. I'm selling to one guy who I know will be understanding when I don't have enough growing or I have gaps in crops. I'm kind of winging how I will try and sell to everyone else. My record-keeping has been good this year, so I hope that next year I will have a better handle on timing so that I can have a regular harvest that I can depend on. The whole thing is kind of nerve wracking 🤪

*_SPACE SPINICH_* 🦠🦠🦠🦠🦠👍🏼 Where is your tape measure, chalkline, 8 foot level, GPS, and survey transit? Too bad you're videoing this you could save a lot of time. I like your new jeep. I don't know how big Wrangell is but I thought maybe you could build a Hill Jilly rolling farmers market stall on the back out your truck and drive around town playing "Hocus Pocus" by Focus
Wearephuct O no measurement required, I just need to be able to drive in a straight line 🍺🥴 True, if I did not make videos then I would have enough time to hand seed carrots, which is the number one reason why I make videos 😬 That is NOT a Jeep, it’s a Jang going off-road 🚜 Little Red Truck will be doing HillJilly produce deliveries around Wrangell, but I could get a sound system and blast hocus pocus, that’s a really good idea 🎸
@@kathivyOr you could play Ice cream truck jingle to make little kids sad when you drive right past them. I meant if you weren't making videos of it you wouldn't have to worry about measuring the exact distance between two arugula. You could have just put up a fence and thrown the seeds over your shoulder and wallah, all ready been tossed salad. You-pick. $5.00 a bag. Sundance costs extra
Wearephuct O I would make the kids most sad by selling them salad instead of ice cream. If HillJilly tossed the seeds out WillyNilly then the dirty hoes could not weed and then the weeds would choke out the salad and all that would be left are buttercups and horsetails 🌼🐎
All a bit tekky for me, I'm just a backyard dude. I hope you get your right thingymabobs to put in your janglydooda so as you can seed the way you want to. Poor Oliver, it sounds like no-one likes him. 🍺
William Coleman's Garden and Allotment it’s a bit tekky for me too! I figure that if I can get the hang of the Jang (hehe poet) then I will save myself so much time, especially when garden gets even bigger. Yeah, Oliver. Maybe the bear will like him 😬🤭
Great looking market garden!
Thanks! It's finally coming together after many years 🪴🤪👍
Seeing rows of vegetables growing is so pleasing to the eye. :)

The gardens are looking beautiful. That is a nice seeder, looks like a major step better than our earthway!

Your channel is so zen. Thank you for sharing your being. Is she/he a youth or are Alaskan deer shaggy?

@@kathivy I like that seeder...it does a great job!
