It's good that you're shedding some light on a very important issue. In my opinion, UA-cam should be doing more to filter those types of comments instead of leaving it down to the creators.

*HOW TO SPOT A MARKIFAKER:* Hover your cursor over the name next to the Warfstache icon. It'll pop up a little info window showing, among other things, how many subscribers that user has and whether you're subscribed to them.
If you're subscribed to Markiplier's channel and the info window says you're not subscribed that that user, it's a Markifaker. If you aren't...first, *why not?* but secondly, look at how many subscribers they have; if they don't have 7,000,000+, it's a Markifaker.
You can also check the URL that pops up in the corner. If the user name isn't "MarkiplierGAME," then...you guessed it, Markifaker.
***** Also the name of the actual Markiplier account, when commenting on his own videos, is highlighted in blue.
***** and ONE more thing is that the popup shows a checkmark saying "verified name" as a tooltip only for the real markiplier

How to find a scammer trying to be a famous youtuber -

GUYS. A TIP TO HELP WITH SCAMMERS, THE REAL MARK IN THE COMMENTS SECTION HAS A BLUE HIGHLIGHT AROUND HIS NAME, AND SCAMMERS DO NOT. PAY ATTENTION TO THE USER AND SCOPE OUT THEIR CHANNEL.
Raven Scream I noticed that. The real Markiplier has a blue highlight over his name unlike the rest.
Raven Scream Its to show copyright, you can always click the name to double check! Why the fuck does UA-cam have copyright systems and spam reports if this shit can happen!
Raven Scream Also, when you highlight over a user's name, it shows how many subs they have, plus whether you're subscribed to them or not. Your tip is way more useful, though. I just wanted to add that in as well.
There is a way to check if its mark, and the way you do it is you click or tap on the pic or profile of Markiplier in the comments, then if the channel has nothing in it its not mark.

***** It's a pure commercial thing, part of a partnership contract in ultra fine microscopic fine print. Most people do not read all the crap in a contract and they just agree to it. UA-cam however does read the details and will not do anything to stop the spam since its okayed in a binding contract.

There are many people on the internet scamming, so you gotta be suspicious about links. Also, if the link says something like 'yootobe.com/beh6882h' or something there is like a 100% chance that it's a scam.

You know what's sad, but also kind of awesome? I consider Mark to be one of my friends. Mostly because I don't have many friends in real life (I think like two that consistently contact me), so when I watch videos, particularly ones like this... it feels like hanging out with a friend. So it's good to know that I count as part of the "community", and it's good to see these sorts of videos, because it makes me feel like I matter to someone. Even though I'm just one out of eleven million, he still thinks I'm important.

Its a bot, a simple code that basically means every time a new video is uploaded it posts a predesignated comment and then after a short time other bots posing as other channels will reply to those acting as others giving thanks

Scammers can easily get around a ban, they make new accounts and new URLs, it's not like these UA-camrs haven't tried that. I think they need someone to manage their account and just delete all spam comments.

LeninaHuxley Try report for "Unwanted commercial content or spam" Maybe UA-cam will notice it then the odds that UA-cam doesn't want Google to be associated with Identity Theft, or come into conflict with steam are really high.

I tried to review the things I can report someone for, and youtube sent me a threat that if I abuse the report function, my account will be closed. This is very heroic of them. Instead of looking into what I am reporting.

3 ways to tell if it is a scammer:
1) Most of the words in scammer comments are *bolded* , mainly so that they stand out to a bigger audience and it grabs people's attention.
2) For the most part, in a scammer comment, the first letter of each word will be capitalized.
3) If you click on the scammer's name, in this case, "Markiplier", then it will pop up with no videos and no recent activity.
E Ric also just highlight the channel name without clicking on it and you can see that they have 0 subs

Tips for people who wanna be safe from the scammers:
1. DON'T EVER CLICK THE LINK IN THE COMMENTS
2. Hover your cursor over the icon and if you're not subscribed, then it's a SCAMMER.
3. If Mark have his username highlighted, that's the real one.
4. If they don't have a checkmark next to his username, that's the real one too. (NOT IN THE COMMENTS)
5. And lastly, report them.

If only but unfortunately the internet is filled with trolls. The best anyone can do is avoid them and hopefully prevent others from believing them.
Justin McGrath It's so obvious who is a scammer on the comments if you scroll on their name and see 3 subscribers and no videos, how dare they even try to impersonate such a decent, inspirational person for their own gain. The best that people can do is report such comments and don't click on the links. What the link says it is wouldn't be worth the risk anyway.
Here's an easy trick!
CHANGE YOUR ICON EVERY HOUR FOR 12 STRAIGHT HOURS.
After that change your icon daily.
This will make it tough for the bots to keep up.
OR you can use a propane powered bot fighting system. That'll burn all those scammers right off the internet.

Hank Hill Honestly, im not sure why people dont just click on the posters' username. That sends you to thier profile page. You are going to easily tell if the post is genuine or not if they have all of the correct videos uploaded and a large enough amount of subscribers. It is things like these comment scams that make me wonder why they dont teach internet safety better in schools. Usually you have to fall victim to something like a scam or virus infested download before you know fully about them.
Like Mark said though, it is best just to avoid anything that mentions giving away anything for free. Nothing is truely free.

JoyPlaysMC I hate to break it to you, but reporting comments rarely works. I reported a comment almost a year ago, and it's still there.

If one person reports a comment, it does jackshit. You need multiple people to report the same comment before it gets removed, since if one person reported every comment and it got removed, that would be trollish and stupid.
JoyPlaysMC Some guy just reminded me how before Google+ comments, if a comment got enough downvotes it would disappear unless you wanted to see it. Why it was removed I will never know.
Markiplier Just use the UA-cam blacklist system and block certain terms like "free" or "points" or simply "http." That should fix it. While you're at it, you should crack down on other spammers and block "sub" "channel" and "check."
While that could be a solution, some terms could be used differently. Example: "I got 67754 points on this." Just giving some advice, not meant to offend or anger.

I just signed up for college and was going to major in engineering because my family said I should, but I knew deep down that was not what I wanted to do.
