Don't Trust Television Signal Maps Until you run your own test. Another example.

- As someone who installs quite a few TV antennas, I often use signal strength maps such as tvfool.com to get am idea on which channels I might be able to pick up, and which direction to point my antenna, but sometimes these maps are quite wrong on which channels I can or can't pick up as I show in this video. Do you use one of these calculators, and if so which one have you found to be the most helpful?
Beautiful area...thanks...looking forward to the next trip...take care, my friend...♡
Thanks Dinah, Nice to hear from you.
Love that old Ford.
I watched my Church service then went on a video-drive with you! 😊Thank you for taking us along again!
I'm glad you enjoyed that Cindy.
Cool channel 👍, I just found your channel. I was checking out different electrical videos and than yours popped up. It was a video on parts that go bag in TV sets. Now I'm a sub to your channel. Don't let me down, keep it good and clean and I'll be happy 😁.
Have a wonderful day, from Muskegon Michigan cold and wet here.
Cool video Dave thanks
Cool videos! I'm local here as well beautiful country!
First, YES!
Good to see you active on other channels as a viewer.
Two quality channels interacting 😎
Good to hear from you Steve.
What TV signal maps?? we never had them AU, and I learnt very early that u can have 65DB in one spot and move 30 ft and u only get half of that. TV RF sucks cos the ground plays a huge part in bouncing or reflecting signals especially with a high miner content in the ground.
Yea I've had the same experience of moving my antenna just a few feet and getting a much stronger signal. Believe it or not sometimes I get a better signal closer to the ground when there are many trees around me.
@@GrantsPassTVRepair cos the signal can get thru under the canopy... technically more of an open window and maybe some ground reflection, also when the tree canopy gets wet the signal degraded as well.... satellite tv was alot easier, I was even able to line up a dish without a signal meter and using the decoder box firmware signal meter and a compass, first time was when i was 18 b4 i even thought about being an rf tech as a profession.
r u sure the inline calculators have up to date data with digital signals?? instead of the old anolog? and it would be nice to know what frequency range ur working in too...
Everything I picked up at this site was on UHF frequencies except for one channel.
do you have to worry about roof leaks when you mount them on the roof like that??
Not at all because I only drill a few holes, and I use a good sealer before I tighten down the bolts.
@@GrantsPassTVRepair ohhh sweet, that works. i wasnt sure but i had heard stories about leaky roofs after, but they probably dont take the precautions you do
@@Teslatronixlab I've heard the same concerns but they are nonsense if the antenna mast is installed correctly.
Dave, where was this? Gold Hill?
Yes.
How do you edit the videos together?
Hey Fabian, I have an older apple computer that has I movie in it.
@@GrantsPassTVRepair I see
Thank you
This is why I love your channel!! You may be interested in P-R-O-M-O-S-M!!!

Really?
Your right about antenna installs paying better, but I should have brought my gold pan and sluice box.
