55 years ago this is where my first barber shop was, it was called Ken's, the United cigar store was in the front , four of us worked there. Many memories !
Hey Mayor. You forgot to give credit to County of Simcoe Paramedics who would have provided medical monitoring, prehospital medical support; medically protecting all peoples involved with this event.
If you have never had to give credit to a large group of people who worked together on a task, I can assure you that it is easy to unintentionally miss giving credit where credit is due, and it certainly can be embarrassing, especially when it is a prepared statement. I would not be surprised that other groups and businesses were also not mentioned because Mayor McIsaac is not answering questions from a script, and he acknowledged his list was incomplete by referring to "so many other groups". We don't know if this was an arranged interview, or if Mayor McIssac was given the questions in advance. Just after Mayor McIssac was elected, I was with a group a restaurant, and one of the people in our group approached him and congratulated him. BUt my friend also asked the new mayor a question that was thoroughly answered. Mayor McIssac's answer flowed off his tongue without needing research and rehearsal, and that demonstrates the depth of his knowledge, and to me, his concern and care for our community. I would not be surprised that if Connor saw Mayor McIssac on the street and asked for an interview, our Mayor would step up to the plate unprepared. Connor's questions, sometimes hard to hear, focused on the fire department, not deaths or injuries. It was reported early in the media that there were no reported injuries. Mayor McIssac's answers focused more on the issues of displacement because he did not talk about the other issues related to infrastructure, such as ice on the roads from runoff, transit issues, and when local businesses can reopen. From the "About" section on his UA-cam channel, I see that Connor started a television broadcasting and video production course at Canadore College in 2020, and that is not a journalism program. I tip my hat and say kudos to Connor for venturing into journalism, as this might be his first production. A seasoned journalist might have asked questions that would confirm there were no injuries, and that might have prompted and opened the door for Mayor McIssac to focus on the group you noted was missed. The bottom line is that Connor gave his best effort, and I am satisfied with, and appreciate his report. I am also satisfied with Mayor McIssac's responses.
