This book literally made me feel REAL, I cried the whole time because I related so much. It put into words so concisely what I’ve felt in my life. I’m glad it makes other people feel understood too
YES to aroace representation. you getting emotional made me get a lil' emotional haha. im excited to check out the podcast too. seriously thank you so much for posting this.
So I recently realized I'm aroace and came across this book not having a clue who Alice Oseman is, not expecting much. I finished the book literally 5 mintues ago, having started it yesterday. I couldn't put it down. You summarized my feelings in the video perfectly. Georgia's story is the realest thing I've ever read, I feel finally seen and understood so so much. That's a lot of typing I'm doing... Just. Thank you for talking about this book and linking the podcast and stuff.
YES! I love how you described and reviewed this book. Especially about the complicated identities of people in the real world that never get depicted in media. And this was meant to break our mold and realize these people exist. Thank you for the review
Thank you! Yes, Loveless is radical because it allows there to be complicated people who fit into numerous "minority" boxes, which is just real life essentially. It's such a valuable story in that regard!
I was trying to keep myself calm and composed but I couldn't help and teared up after hearing about indian ace representation. Definitely looking forward to reading the book ❤️❤️❤️
Alice Oseman is a total legend for the Heartstopper series,i tore up so many times watching it and honestly was amazed by how non sexual a queer relationship between two guys was shown,so many shows I've seen with lgbt plus characters love to have unnecessary sex scenes which has always really bugged me . I only recently found out about this book,I haven't really read a decent book in a goddamn long time so once I realised Loveless was about an aroace character I knew it was love at first sight 🥰 This book, man,I related to so many things, and the way they explained the spectrum of asexuality and aromantiscm was spot on,because it's taken me soooo long to accept I'm on those spectrums since when I first learnt about them I just assumed being asexual meant you just hated sex and everything to do with it I struggled so much with hypersexuality growing up,because I felt pressured into liking sex by everyone around me at school and just in general . I could never understand why people cared about it so much . The parts where Georgia talks about fanfic, smut, fantasising, are all very relatable as are so many other aspects of the book it absolutely blew my mind tbh It's such a good book it's made me question if I'm also aro spec too! I think demiromantic greysexual would be the best way to summarise! And ahhhh the friendships man it's so cute this comment is way too long I'm sorry but yeah really enjoyed your emotional gushing video you seem like a really sweet person 😭😝 Also, loved Rooney and Pip,iconic enemies to lovers right there ;)
I've only just seen this comment, but I relate so heavily to your experiences growing up aroace! Loveless is such a magical book for encapsulating all of these aspects of the asexual and aromantic spectrums, isn't it!
I've never cried reading a book. This book was the closest I've ever gotten; it was so real. It was me. It was things I've felt all my life and only put together in the last two years. Loveless is my love.
These past couple of months I've come to terms with the fact that I'm aroace. I've never been into sex or romance. In school a couple of months ago, we had a sex ed class and it made me so uncomfortable. I hated it. I then looked up "why can't I fall in love and why do I hate sex" and aroace came up. I haven't told anybody yet so I guess y'all are the first people to know :). I ordered the book online and it should come in a couple of days. I am so excited for it :D !!
I feel so honoured that you would come out to this corner of the internet first - congrats!! I really hope this book can make you feel as seen as it made me feel. It's a wonderful thing to realise who you are 💜
Hey, I'm a french person and as a maybe aro but ace person I absolutly want to read this book. However, I do not trust French translator... So does anyone know if I could read it in English? Like is that difficult to understand or whatever? Is this simple for a foreigner ? Thanks for your answers !
Hi! I know that Loveless is currently in the works to be translated into a bunch of different languages, so a French version may be on the horizon. But in terms of the English version, I think you would probably be okay with it. The writing isn't super complex and it doesn't use any really unusual words as far as I can remember, so I'm sure it wouldn't be too challenging. Hope this helps!
@@thepretentiouspoet Yes it does! I look forward to read it (in English)! French translators aren't very good with non-binary characters because in French, plural is gendered and most of the time they don't know the neutral pronouns... So yeah thanks for your help and I'll check your other videos 😊
@@emmavincent8290 Ahh, of course! I hadn't thought about the literal impacts of the language on nonbinary characters, but that's really interesting. Thank you for your interest in my videos, and I hope you enjoy Loveless when you get to reading it!
@@thepretentiouspoet Hi! It's me again. I got Loveless for Easter so I finally read it! I just wanted to thank you for making this video presenting this book. Both of them really helped me to figure out who I am. So thank you so much. You derserve the best!

Exactly! Loveless is a completely magical book in that regard, nothing else has ever made me feel that way
“ this author gets it” yess she does this quote is going on my mirror
I adore Alice Oseman's books, and this was absolutely beautiful.
She's one of my favourite authors now after two smashing books - I'm considering getting all of her other ones now too!
