Doc Neeson the singer for the Angels was born in Ireland (and bass player in this song) wrote the lyrics to this one. It was in Mount Isa Queensland that he first heard male audience members sing the colour that speak of.... Up Ireland as well you legends.
Doc was in a class of his own. Great musicians but Doc WAS The Angels. The fill-ins and pretenders are second-rate at best. Lucky for us, we can watch one of the greatest frontmen to ever come out of this country whenever we wish. Thanks for the great memories, Doc...RIP...🌺🌺🌺
Saw the Angels live in Aussie pubs. Doc Neeson belting it out in his tuxedo.. climbing the stage scaffold...his face in the blue light singing Baby out of the blue. One time I was close to the stage in a pub and Doc spat water over the crowd...landing on me. It was like holy water...RIP Doc and long live The Angels in Aussie rock mortality.

ANGELS always loved the music and how wonderful they are thank you sharing it am l ever see your face again thank you sharing it beautiful wonderful as well
I toured Australia with a US basketball team years ago. In Darwin they held a big party and played this song. In the chorus we were all surprised to hear the locals all screaming "No way! Get F'd! F off!" (This is the abriged version). By the time the second chorus hit we all joined in! Great time, great song, great chorus!
@hnybny When we did it, it was still relatively uncommon. Many Aussies hadn't even met Americans. Basketball was still a developing sport and not overly popular over there at the time, so we were relatively dominant. I was a high school sophomore, and my teammates and I were often asked for autographs after games! 🤣 Crazy!
the angels almost blew the roof of one night at south maroubra pub 1980s. we were young whipper snippers teens hanging around the back of the pub drinking kb cans. the whole croud started singing iam i ever gonna see your face again.then the croud would sing. no way get fucked fuck of. absolutely sensational. never forget it. now my kids admit the best singers and bands were from the late 70s-80s. cold chisel-australian crawl-divinyls-acdc-midnight oil and so many others. and the best thing about it you could see them at the local pubs.
Great seeing them as young dudes again. I remember the first Countdown they did. Instant fan. Sad they fell to pieces a but but it’s amazing what they achieved after this.
Mate, they were unbelievably good live. Back in 1978 when I was 19 and saw them with my mates They were part of a group of three bands handled by the same booking agent. Triple Bill, Angles, Cold Chisel, and Icehouse. What great nights

I know, you say gimmick, but wouldn't he, the band be fore front on the evolution? I mean that in the most sincere way! Listening to some early tunes, mourning a middle school friend lost in a motorcycle accident, I'm 56, makes you hear music in a different way, kind of piecing together my own mortality! I know bleeding heart, just lost my father in law a few weeks back, trying to fall back on the one thing that unites all.. a cool tune! Wish you the best if you are out there in Aussie land!! Pipes!! To this day, Ac Dc rocked them best... thanks for listening... ✌️
Except this song is a blatant rip-off of Status Quo's song Lonely night and they had to pay Status Quo royalties. AND, AC/DC are not really Australian. They're basically a British band formed in Australia.
An interview Doc gave (source not recalled) stated that the premise of this song was about an ex-girlfriend that had commited suicide. "Am I Ever Gonna See Your Face Again" The band was disappointed when the catch-cry of 'No way get f****ed f*** off' developed as an anthem.
The only reason they are called Angel City in North America is so they could avoid any potential law suits with other bands who used similar names to their own (The Angels), hence why they had a different name for international markets

Doc and Bon were the greatest rock vocalists ever . Amazing we had both of em .think about it
