I just retired last august grandpa early retirement 62. I’m just lucky to have a medical insurance from our trust fund at work. I worked 20 years so I have a complete medical insurance . We have a union. They fought for it. Thank you Po.
Good for you grandpa! Could you do everybody a favor by telling us how much it would take a vacation in Switzerland? It is probably on every body’s list to take. 😊
I absolutely agree with u Sir...I just started collecting my sss pension last March of this year exactly 65 yrs old and no regret whatsoever so far..I look at it tomorrow s not guaranteed so it's a win win situation ..I'm excited for your upcoming Switzerland trip 4 sure I'll watch it to get some tips or Ideas changes next year all U.S. passport holders needs to secure an authorization from any European countries...enjoy and god bless BTW I'll be on Singapore next Sunday with my wife...
Wow sir! Enjoy and please share your experience and places you’re visiting in Switzerland. Washington state is a very beautiful place and green which I missed when moved to California.
You will have a blast in Switzerland! If you can live on your SS check right now, it's a no brainer to take it. However, you if can't and you still have a job you love. Keep working imho.
Will be back in Switzerland this coming May 2024 to experience the Glacier Express train ride along the Swiss Alps. If time permit, We will also hitch a ride on the Bernina Express. Have fun.
Cant collect at 65 if still working full-time, there's a penalty if you earn more than the limit, which I believe is very low. Wait until the full retirement, depending on your birth year and month. In my case is 66.5, I will only collect SSN sooner if I decide to stop working full time before my full vested age.
I (retired at 60)found that being retired under 65 was a lot cheaper for health insurance if you qualify for your state ACA. My wife and I were paying only $70 a month for ACA(silver plan) in Oregon under the age of 65. But now being 67, for me alone, being under Medicare, I figured my health insurance would cost about $275 to $300 a month(with plan G) and my wife would be about $110 a month under Oregon ACA for a total of about $410 a month. I'm retired in the Philippines now and I dropped my Part B medicare and put that money in a self insured medical fund and use PhilHealth to get me in a hospital here. Retired in Cebu City.
Its different for everyone as far as when to take SS. Taxes on IRA accounts must be thought of before taking SS. Staying in the 12 % tax bracket after retirement as long as i can before the RMDs kick in. If i take ss now that will bump me up to the 22 to 24% tax bracket. Im waiting because I'm in good health, and really don't need to take SS right now. So i take your SS advice with a grain of salt. I HIGHLY recommend that if anyone that has taxable IRA accounts, be sure to talk to a tax advisor or your money manager before taking SS.
@vloggergrandpa, It's making more sense now to me to take SSB early. Thank you. Btw, I plan to visit the Philippines next year and want to travel to many places in the country. Can I purchase a ticket at the last minute when I'm there to go to other provinces? If so, where's the best place to buy airfares?
Of course you can, but it will be more expensive buying it last minute. You can go to any travel agency or to the airport ticketing office where you are located.
Hello from the sunshine state 😊 we used to lived in Pennsylvania and decided to move down here 14 yrs ago… Anyway, I hope you could add the link or contact number of that Filipino immigration lawyer… thank you and enjoy Switzerland
Hello grandpa, do i have to be US citizen to someday get SS retirement? Or is there a big or any restrictions when it comes to retirement benefits if I’ll just remain a green card holder?
I have several videos on this complicated subject. Here is one of them: ua-cam.com/video/Z3eLWLeHWE0/v-deo.html . It might be best fo you to get on my Channel to see multiple issues you will need to consider. Thanks for asking.
“Happy Trip” Vlogger Grandpa! I would be interested to know what common difficulties people have that they would need to hire an immigration attorney. Also, do you know of any banks in the US that also has branches in the Philippines? ie deposit in the US and then withdraw in the Philippines? I know Citi sold their consumer banking to UnionBank and I know we are able send a remittance to a bank account. Thanks!
Vlogger Grandpa, lost old, original 1953 US passport with photo of brother n me, both minors at the time, so only one passport issued. Brother kept it n through the years got lost. Brother died, am now 79y/o no proof of US citizenship n actual birthdate. Have applied n been issued new passports, but BD is wrong (documents with wrong BD obtained from PI 1980, but the only documented proof of birth, so I have been using this as my BD creating much problems). I believe 1953 passport has my actual BD, what do I do/who can I contact?
Contact the issuing offices in the US and Philippines. This problem could cost you a lot of money. This is ehy we need to be very careful with our documents. Don't worry about the wrong birthdays at this stage in your life as this is just academic at this point.
Enjoy your vacation! Please ask your guest lawyer about social security benefits, what are the options available when claiming SS benefits for US citizens or Dual citizens planning to retire permanently to the Philippines
It would help if you can send me more specific question. Also, I assume that you mean US social security and not Philippine social security. Is that right?
@@vloggergrandpa2707 yes. Thank you for your reply. 1. How to collect US social security benefits if you retire & relocate permanently to the Philippines? 2. What are the restrictions if any (in connection to question #1)?
Americans at the age of 55 should try to file for SSDI for full retirement benefits including Medicare. Retiring at 62 will only get 60% and no Medicare until you reach 65 years old. 60% of $1,000 is $600 dollars.
@@vloggergrandpa2707 I filed for SSDI and won the case without a sheet of medical records because I never go to the doctor. I am probably the only person in USA to ever does it. And I did it all by myself. I was approved since January 2016 at the age of 55. I am a Filipino. I worked full-time in Walmart for 13 years. My SSDI check was $970 a month for the first year, now my SSDI check is $1158.00 dollars a month with almost $4,000.00 of food stamps. I am the only food stamp recipient with that much balance.
