ANSWER: It is always cheaper to use regular shipping as Shipper Owned Container (SOC ) would require an additional cost in loading and unloading equipment ( Craiones of Heavy Weight Forklift) at the origin and destination.

Hi Coronette Deegan. Thank you for this very good question. I did a UA-cam video on Shipper OWned Container ( SOC ), You may find it on this channel. The shipper has the option to buy the container but it should be done during the planning stage of the shipment as it will also require certification and equipment arrangements. Deciding in buying the container after it has arrived may cost a lot of detention charges. Shipping SOC requires loading and unloading equipment at the origin and destination, which might be costly especially in remote destinations as one has to factor in the transportation cost of the crane or heavy-load forklift. Another option that I offer our client is to use the regular shipping method and buy a locally available good quality empty container that is already in the Philippines, which we also offer. This also allows time to preposition and make improvements to the empty container in your Philippine property. Please contact me for more specific and detailed ideas for your relocation planning.
