Or you can do what I did with my 79cc and move the clutch to the transmission shaft that comes with the kits and connect them with two identical sprockets to start. I did this because I needed to have an alternator turned by the crankshaft, and there simply wasn't enough space for the pulley and clutch, and I wasn't going to spend MORE money on a pulley clutch and the jackshaft pulley to use my gears. I'll post a video when I get the bike running again.
You guys are fun, right up my alley from the old days im (54) I'm still waiting for a perfect idle/ idle speed/ and throttle response which would give you the low speed controllability and part throttle perfection. Geezer guys they're engines ..ever hear of warming them up more??? Come on strive for perfection!!!!
It's kinda cringey to me also to see them run around the yard on slicks and 2 inches of clearance. The chassis may not be strong enough to take all the flex for too long. My racing chassis cracked just from normal track days. If I took it in that yard it would last 2 minutes.

Freakin Sweet!! Well done guys, and as always, thanks for sharing it with us! I'd like to share one thing if I may, regarding clutches... I've built and messed around with a lot of these motors... A few years ago, I put together a really "hopped up" clone for a drag racing mini bike and I couldn't afford one of those "fancy" several hundred dollar clutches, but really needed a higher rpm engagement (stall)... What I did was, took apart a "regular" $25 Max Torque clutch (removed snap ring & pulled the bell off)... Then, I took off the spring that goes around the shoes, cut about a half inch off of it, and put it back together... Basically, the idea is to increase the amount of spring tension in order to raise the required rpm for the weight of the shoes to overcome it and engage with the bell ... I did this a couple of times, cutting a bit more off the spring each time until I was at the rpm where I wanted it to engage... IMPORTANT ---> It's better to cut off a small amount at a time and re-test, because if you cut too much, there's no going back without having to get a new spring... PS - I want to be perfectly clear, that this clutch modification is NOT equal to the performance, quality, and longevity of one of those racing clutches... But it works pretty damn good on something you're not intending to use for actual sanctioned competition, and is for people that just enjoy playing with this stuff (and/or racing with a few friends every once in a while) and don't want to spend a ton of money to do it... Hope this may help some people out there

crankysports i have the same engine on my kart and dang that moter sounds like a beauty, but since i live in a neighborhood i still rip that thing like no tommarow
i feel like the basic clutch kicked in at lower rpm's. which makes it so you have more power and less slipping when starting... unless thats not whats wanted.
I think you should stick with the higher ratio, change the clutch springs so it grabs between the rpm of the first and last clutches you tried. I'm betting that's a good sweet spot and you'll get the best speed out of it.
That twitchy problem. Try taking the springs off the spindles, replace them with spacers. The travel is causing bump steer, the tie rods are moving the steering due to the angles changing in relation to the travel.

I would like a video tour of all Ike's buildings and neat stuff.
Y'all need to get a Manual 3 disc clutch like on Red Beard's Garage
That is a thing of beauty. OMG that motor !!!
crankysports i have the same engine on my kart and dang that moter sounds like a beauty, but since i live in a neighborhood i still rip that thing like no tommarow
It looks and sounds really good
I love that lumpy sound of the little hot predator
i feel like the basic clutch kicked in at lower rpm's. which makes it so you have more power and less slipping when starting... unless thats not whats wanted.
2 words for that Kart......."Freakin Gnarly"!!!!
WOW that thing hooks up now! :)
O my does it sound amazing or what! Brrrrrrap!
I think you should stick with the higher ratio, change the clutch springs so it grabs between the rpm of the first and last clutches you tried. I'm betting that's a good sweet spot and you'll get the best speed out of it.
Great video as always gents!
I'd love to see more on that Chevelle
Awesome! Get a top speed on the new clutch and gear ratio.
Good job. Makes me wanna make one with a 16hp modified to a 35hp!
Yeah man!!!
That twitchy problem. Try taking the springs off the spindles, replace them with spacers. The travel is causing bump steer, the tie rods are moving the steering due to the angles changing in relation to the travel.
That 20hp sounds good!
300 dollar clutch ouch boys haha good video guys love the channel thanks for the fun filled Monday’s and Wednesday’s !
Dave , that's what you pay for a good street & strip sheifer !
Id love to spend a day helping you guys and leanring a little bit. I have a coleman mini bike with 212 hemi and i still have the governor in it and im getting about 45 mph top speed and im 260lbs. I already had it doing 38 with no bought mods. Now i have a stage 1 kit on it and barely noticed a gain over what i already had done. I drilled my main jet and now it pops and doesnt like full throttle. I got everything to remove the governor gear but im not sure if i should wait for a better flywheel or not. I enjoy watching you guys
Looks like a lot of fun guys keep it safe.
New t-shirt? "Oh Crunchie 😯"
That was so funny on the first gran prix run. That thing was so fast across the driveway, it actually looked like you sped the frame rate up. Lmao
I am thinking, living 30 min from you, you were running after 9pm because it looked like it was dark outside,,,,,love the video.
Your neighbors must love you... ;:-)
