- Dr. Sukhvinder Saggu, the Director of GI, Minimal Access & Bariatric Surgery Department at the CK Birla Hospital, discusses briefly GERD and its symptoms. Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease, popularly known as GERD is a digestive disease that occurs when stomach acid flows frequently back into the tube connecting to the mouth and stomach (oesophagus).
The most common symptom of GERD is heartburn (acid indigestion). Usually, it feels like a burning chest pain that starts behind the breastbone and moves upward to the neck and throat. Many patients say that it feels like the food is coming back into the mouth, leaving an acid or bitter taste.
Apart from this, other symptoms of GERD include nausea, bad breath, breathing problem, vomiting, problem swallowing, a lump in the throat, and wearing away of tooth enamel. The symptoms may also include a lingering cough, laryngitis, asthma and sleep problems.

Sir my wife age about 41 yrs underwent GERD-X,through Endoscopic on 14/10/2022 at AIG hospitsl Gachibowli, Hyderabad by Dr. Rakesh Kalapala. She has already had her medical check up on 16-01-2023 and fm 18/09/2023 to 20/09/2023. As per suggestion, Tab Sompraz 80 mg & Cinitapride extended 3 mg is being taken continuously however she is feeling unwell due to gas reflux in throat and chest the burning sensationsis being felt by her continuously. She also feels bitter and sour tastes within the throat .At present patient dit not get any relief even after the operation of GERD. Sir what to do now ?
