You say the footage on the sides isn't that interesting but in fact, getting the side views was a major selling point for me investing in a 360 camera. (I went from the Garmin VIRB 360 to the X4.) As a road cyclist who commonly has to deal with drivers rolling alongside me to harass me, they always end up in the blind spots of my front and rear cameras. Having the 360 allows me to capture those clowns clearly. I now ride with three cameras: the front and rear are GoPro Hero 10s with the rear one clamped to the selfie stick just below the jointed support clamp for the tail mount that holds the X4.
Good point. I did not consider the camera from the perspective of footage for safety. I was looking at it mostly from the perspective of a content creator.
@psycholist724 I'm just starting to research these 360 cameras. I will retain my Cycliqs Fly12 & Fly6 as well. I used to have a Sony Action Cam on my helmet, so I'm considering this up there, too, in order to get the BEST all around view... of the clowns & more.

Another awesome video, Josh! I was just about to ask you if you could do a video of the vlog gears you use to capture all the amazing rides you do. And here it is! The different perspectives are pretty cool. As long as there isn't a head unit hiding your face ... good thing they fixed that! 11:27 open wideeeee
You can do plenty of smart things with this camera to create perspectives which were previously impossible. Really cool and I love that I have some new ways to show my rides
The tail position is pretty cool, with the exception it looks weird whenever someone is out of the saddle. Can also get two cameras, one for front, one for rear, to really capture the moment. Time editing and the cost for hardware would be the downsides of course
Yea it does look a little weird when out of the saddle. I think because the camera moves with the bike, and not the body of the rider. Also this is a situation where the stabilisation is so good it actually looks a bit unnatural
I've heard it said that the tail mount should be used only with the Action stick which is made of carbon fiber rather than aluminum. Is that because the bouncing could cause the aluminum to buckle? (I have the aluminum one and will receive the carbon fiber one tomorrow. Can't wait!)
Great vid again Josh. Thank you. After watching this I was wondering if you’d experimented with the magnetic chest mount , by attaching it on the back of your jersey or even your knicks? Look forward to hearing your thoughts. Again, thanks
Yes, I used this for the Insta360 Go3S. I made a video about that a little while ago if you wanna check it out. For the X4 it’s too heavy to be magnetically mounted.
Josh did you get the integrated up front /computer Mount on your Trek Emonda aero bars. Notice your rear mount demo is on the Trek yet the front mount is a different bike. Just trying to see if it is suitable for the Trek. Love the videos. Thanks
Hi Andrew, very observant of you. Unfortunately neither of the front mounts work with the Aero Emonda handlebars. This is the case for most proprietary one piece handlebars unless they have the mounting underneath (I think canyon does this). The way I got the camera on the front of my Emonda is using the Blendr mount and sacrificing either my headunit or my light. Just note that since the 360 camera is heavy everything needs to be torqued up correctly or it may move due to road vibrations. Hope that helps answer your question.
Try and have the seat rail mounting arm as high up on the selfie stick arm as possible. This will provide the most support for the stick. I find that riding out of the saddle can be a bit bouncy so stay seated. Try out different stabilisation settings and see what gives you the best result.

@@schlinkodonkofink the universal stem mount goes on the front of the handlebars. If your MTB stem bolts are the same width as the mount I see no issues with using it. It’s quite sturdy. I would recommend using some anti slip washers for the camera to make it extra secure.

Hi Josh, I just purchased the tail mount kit. I haven't used yet, but I'm already wondering how comfortable it is to ride 40 - 80 km with the kit, the selfie stick and the camera exposed? What would be your advice for not having to interrupt the ride for packing on and off the camera with the kit? Hope you can share your experience with me! :)
Hey mate, the selfie stick is fine to ride with, but I would take the camera off if you’re not going to use it for extended periods of time. It’s very easy to unscrew and take off the selfie stick. I could easily do this while riding and using one hand. Of course probably best to do that while stopped though.
