The best driver of all time, and the nicest guy ever, a true gentlemen and one hell of a driver, it's a privilege to be from the same country as him, he did Britain proud. RIP Richard
As a terrible sim rally-er, after a few months the pacenotes become like another sound giving you info about what is happening around you, like the engine revs (higher is better). Thier timing is critical. When dialed in you have just enough time to plan a turn entrance or a car weight shift. I find myself making them for street routes in real life. silly. RIP Richard Burns. The game is a great leagacy for him. Sitll top after 18 years.
His pace notes were absolutely stunning. The old school descriptive system and every piece of road described to perfection. Im just so sorry that it took me years to realise just how good it was. No wonder he was so good in the fog
I was really sad when Richard died, he was my favourite Rally driver too. That was awesome, how Robert Reid can do what he does is amazing. Yes he made one mistake, but how many of us could do that, and he has to turn pages as well!!
Richard Burns Rally with the RallySimFans mod is STILL the single most realistic rally game available. It's a shame we haven't gotten anything more realistic since then, but at least Richard's legacy carries on with the best rally game you can get. And it's free due to being abandonware. Can't get any better than that.
Nice driving from Burns and that game-thing you guys were talking about... RBR really is the top of rally games. The realism and the car handling are something you can´t find from other games. But on the video it was funny when burns entered the tight hairpin with gear 2 and the the car almost stalled but he handled the situation :D
That was awesome! I dont think I could sit in that car with them, as I watched every bend I thought he is going to come off here for sure. Such a waste of talent he was so young to lose his battle with cancer RIP....
he was the greatest british rally driver ever .. and im not just saying that because he is now dead, alot of ppl do that. He is such an legend! RIP Richard Burns, God bless you.
at 1:43, Reid calls "long 60 slow key right tightens maybe 40... hairping RIGHT" but actually the hairpin is to the left! LOL thank god Richard is also looking otherwise I dont know where they would have ended.
I always loved the Richard's pacenote system. It was easy with : medium, fast, easy. More or less the same of KKK. There are a lot to learn from Richard's on board videos.
MaxDamage13 I fully agree on you at the game opinion, I meet The man himself couple of times in Finland and Sweden to bad he never got ALOT of time so I can chould talk with him He really toke me close to the sport I#m a rally mechanical, anyway Great onboard footage were u got it Cheers Richard burns and Robert reid Forever
Fantastic footage! At 1:09 Richard points to the handbrake, and when they get to the "hairpin right, very tight" at 1:15 Robert rests his hand on the handbrake, and takes his hand off it when Richard grabs it. Anybody know why? He doesn't do it on any of the other hairpins in this clip.
When your editing your videos look very very carefully at what your adding ?? He’s driving in a full driving suit so adding footage of him in short sleeves is nuts very good 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 I’ve lost me 😡
If you listen really carefully, you will notice that he doesn't make a mistake. As you know, there is a tight left, followed immediately by an extremely tight right hairpin. The co driver is referring to this right hand hairpin, not the tight left. Before they get to the tight left, the co driver sais "50 k left, and k left, ("follow this road"?) ", into hairpin right, very tight" You just need good ears =) His accent does get a bit tricky though lol.
yes. the "hairpin RIGHT" he calls at 1:43 ("long 60 slow key right tightens maybe 40,hairpin RIGHT") comes in at 1:53 as a hairpin LEFT... he called it out wrong.
This is San Remo...I remember the wall on the right at 4:55 with that Scottish flag...I´ve seen many shots of this wall with Skoda flag in 2001 San Remo hisghlights
Although Robert does make a mistake Burnsy obviously worked it out by the angle the left hairpin was approaching. At 1:42-1:43 "go 60 slow k right tightens maybe 40" is the next corner after the one they just exited, the one approaching, then the "hairpin right 50" is a mistake and its not really at high speed, only 1st, 2nd gear corners but somewhere like Finland the notes really need to be 2-3 corners ahead when travelling at 100mph+!!
Nice vid, but... I can see now why french drivers are so much better than the others on tarmac. They're much more agressive! And it's a shame here Richard couldn't take an hairpin decently... He was a good driver though.
Like in the game Richard Burns Rally, the road is so fucking narrow. I was scared by even watching this. He makes the driving look easy though the road looks hard.
he didnt, thats why there still going.... normally if a false reading is given, they crash, depending on each driver, some like the calls 2,3,4 or upto 5 turns ahead
Yeah, the only two who compare to Richard are Colin Mcrae and Sabastien Loeb maybe. Not to mention Richard Burns Rally(Game) is the best and most realistic.
First things first, why are you disrespecting me? Of course I can't do any hairpin in any car decently, but I'm not the professional rally driver here! And there were much better drivers on tarmac with those "old cars" you're talking about, and yes, they were able to take hairpins in a most efficient way than Burns in this particular stage. Anyway I'm not saying Burns was a bad driver. He was the 2001 champion, for god sake!
@ausroar Excuse me? No-one can "take the place" of Richard Burns, the current world champion is Sebastien Loeb, he's won the last 7 WRCs driving Citroens. Ken Block has won 0 and he will always have 0 to his name, Ken Block is only famous for DC Shoes, Monster energy and the dirt game, which is very unrealistic might I add. Good god!
yea different time though. Loeb and Burns are both awesome not sure if it can really be compared. Block is not a Rally driver doesn't say he is just aspires to be.
Time to play Richard Burns Rally, still the best ever.
The two of them probably up there now debating whose game is the best.
And after 6 years, still it is.
@@marektaziar5402 And it still is.
@@drazenbudis7881 just came in to confirm, it still is
@@SnaxDesAvions And just for you to know, its still the best there is.
It's impressive how he drove that extremely difficult stage. RIP Richard Burns. Hope you keep rallying on heaven.
Everytime it rains, it's him flying through a watersplash in rallying heaven
And rally with Colin.
The best driver of all time, and the nicest guy ever, a true gentlemen and one hell of a driver, it's a privilege to be from the same country as him, he did Britain proud. RIP Richard
Never ceases to amaze me how they can listen to pace notes and still concentrate on where they are at present. Amazing skill. Yes and RIP Richard.!!🙏🏼

Sublime. Poetry in motion. I loved his ‘technical’ approach - the Alain Prost of rally.
RIP Richard. You’ll be forever missed. 😥
Respect to Richard as a person and talented driver...and respect to the stiil No.1 rally game Richard burns ...neither have been topped!
And still
Richard's memory will live on forevermore in RBR, still the best game
He sure left his mark on this world. Rallying has lost a true superstar in Burnsie, R.I.P.

What a smooth driver. He looked to be having real fun in the last minute of that stage. I miss Richard. RIP.

It looks like he's driving very easy and relaxed .
One of Colin's era's mega drivers. RiP
Sweet video! crazy driving and he is very calm like everyone says
It's crazy how the spectators are standing outside of a hairpin after a straight 💀
The best forever

Same Tho. The easier the pacenotes are. The faster you go.
Amazing....in the edge all the time!!!
FANTASTIC
my guess is that richard is adjusting the intercom or at 1.09....then robert adjusts it again, but since richard needs his ebrake, he moves away
great driver R.I.P

woow... that sucks... sorry to hear that.
The comparison between Richard Burns smooth and flowing style in contrast to Colin Macrae's aggressive, gung-ho style👌

Hi.2022😂
@F1Masteruk You can use either pazera free flv to avi converter or Hamster free video converter. Both are good video converters for flv videos.
yes. the "hairpin RIGHT" he calls at 1:43 ("long 60 slow key right tightens maybe 40,hairpin RIGHT") comes in at 1:53.
Some questions pls to this video:
Fix paddle shifter?
Co-driver name?
Stage name?
Thank you
Codriver Robert Reid
So fast it's crazy!!!
They are plenty other legendary pilots to keep in mind like vatanen, or rhol..
Did he take his suit off between camera changes and then put it back on. He did cos he's that good.
I can't be-fucking-lieve how narrow that road is.
makes me wanna learn how to read and understand pace notes. where can i get a sample of a pace note?
The video is using cut shots from other vids, the main onboard is all one video.

and we bang hairpin after after hairpin 😥
yeah if you compare it to colin mcrae 's notes. Its very different
the calls are given out 2 turns ahead of were they are at.
this entire video is mesmorizing! I have no clue how he processes all that
Was that in Japan?
@stakca but.. Colin McRae then?
theres 2 videos in one i think. at 1:56 burns is wearing short sleave, after he is back in race suit.
how did he die ?
1:15 how do you even turn
AWD !!! ;D
Судя по всему у этой машины роботизированной кпп были проблемы с переключением на 1-ю, иначе Ричард бы не проходил шпильки на второй.

what a fuckin champ
Sanremo o Corsica?
where is it??

look at 1:53 he has a t-shirt, then he has a long suit....sorry for the bad english
rofl that hairpin at 1:20
