The Richard Burns Foundation (official Video)
Вставка
- Опубліковано 3 лис 2011
- A short seven minute film, featuring the highlights of Richard Burns' competition career as well as the intimate details of his courageous fight against an aggressive form of brain cancer in the twilight of his life.
The film is intended to give context to the Paint It Orange campaign as motorsport remembers ten years since Richard's 2001 World title and today's ongoing work of the Richard Burns Foundation as it endeavours to improve the circumstances of others facing neurological injury and illness.
Directed by Nick Rowland and produced by students of AUCB Film School during our second year.

Even when this man couldn't drive the car, he developed one hell of a video game so that others could experience the thrill of the sport. That one game alone got me hooked into motorsports. And I'll never forget that cheer at 5:43. Thank you Richard :'(
@kedar p dirt rally 2.0 has to take that crown nowadays imo, funny how they are both gone but both burns and mcrae are talked about through the games that got thousands of kids interested in rallying
@@decc0484 Some still think RBR is the true king of rally games.Actually, a sizeable number.
I still play it. I think it's the best rally game ever.
@@AtunDesenfrenado Same!
I never saw him rally live (I wasn't even born before 2003), but I play the game with NGP6, and it's just absolutely fantastic! I also remember watching the WRC highlights as a kid and it was unbelievable that he was able to beat McRae! And then I saw his Wikipedia page and found out he died a long time a go :( R.I.P legend, your contribution to rallying will never be forgotten
I can genuinely see the pain in both Reid's and Richard's father's eyes. This is a truly heartwrenching tale, but also the tale of one of the greatest rally drivers!
Richard Burns achieved more in his life than most of us will ever dream. It's a shame that the disease robbed him and we couldn't enjoy more of his journey.
Proud to be named Richard, like one of my all time heroes that's responsible for my participation in rallysport.
Rest in peace.
It's been 10 years now.. But we will never forget him
+sonyerikson I will get very mad if WRC.com does not make any news It´s been 10 years since his death
15 years... remembered this legend when I saw a Peugeot 206 on sale... Will name him Richard.
15 years now and not forgotten.
Tears in my eyes watching this. Met Burnsie in 1999 before the final stage of the network q rally. I was only 12 but he made time to sign autographs and have pictures taken and had a joke with me and my father. Juha kankkunen pulled up behind and was pretty miserable. Top bloke, would have certainly won more titles
Been watching back the era of Makinen, McRae, Burns, Sainz and co. Amazing times in rallying especially the GB final round in 2001. As a McRae fan I was gutted he crashed out and wasn't exactly ecstatic when Burns won. Now I am so glad that Burn did win his Championship. We have lost both McRae and Burn which is just unbelievable. For Burn to pass away exactly 4 years to the day after winning the 2001 Championship was heartbreaking. R.I.P Richard. A true Champion in and out of the car.
God rest his soul. One of the kindest faces in the WRC. He will never be forgotten.
I had the pleasure of meeting Richard at the under 17's car club when I was a member... great guy, great driver. I still have my signed picture hanging with pride on my wall. RIP Richard x
Still hard to watch it, even after so long....
its still very upsetting, I had tears in my eyes, I know a lot of Rally fans have never forgot Richard, he was such a nice guy.. RIP Richard always missed never ever forgotten Xx
Everytime I watch this......I feel so deeply sad about the tragic loss of such an amazing personality. Always with the most warmth smile in his face, so talented and young. You will never be forgotten R.B.
21 years after his win
Gone but not forgotten
Still time to time see some seasons to remember the great era of rally in 90's
Got a bit of his legacy in my place, the game in his memory, and his Subaru Impreza 2001 in 1/18
He was One of a kind
at 6am i stood in the cold n wet, muddy welsh forests for a glimse of this great man, up there with the best, R.I.P richard burns
I was there on the RAC in 98, 99 & 2000 for Burn's great wins. Squelched back from Walters Arena in 2001, just in time to catch the BBC show him winning the championship.
Legend in my book.
Amazing driver, never forgotten.
With tears in my eyes.. RIP Mr. Burns.
Fantastic tribute to an amazing driver.. met him a few times in wales and was the most humble individual I have ever met with his regard to his sport. Proper fans will never forget.... rip RB and CM...
A nice tribute to a great rally driver. I remember watching R.B. on tv , saying something like "Why can't I drive this car?" to Robert Reid. Soon after, he was in hospital. It was sudden, sad, and shocking for me, and I didn't even know him!
As a momento, I went and bought Richard Burns Rally for XBox (better on PC?) and got a sense of the complexity of rally driving. Didn't win much money though!
Still have the first two copies of Rally Sport from 1999. Burns and Reid inside! R.I.P..
He left an incredible legacy together with SCI with the game Richard Burns Rally, I still play that game and mods have made the game very up-to-date.
Mr R Burns had a gift..no fear and skill beyond expectations, this film is a fitting tribute, thanks for sharing.
Burns is not gone - he just finished a few seconds ahead of all of us
Tears in my eyes every time I see this! A true hero/idol that never will be forgotten. :( RIP
I miss richard in the wrc, best wishes to his family and friends
Very moving video, richard will never be forgotten!
8 years.... missing you still. Legend. Hero. My Hero.
I have no words. This video speaks for itself.
RIP Richard.
RIP man, you still legend. such talent and a real genuine person!
Richard... Forever in our heart!
He lives on for the fans who still love watching the video footage of him race.
Why would anyone thumbs-down this video ?
Such a talented life cut way too short. Very moving video. Definitely a Rallying Hero to be remembered. R.I.P. Richard. :'(
Can never forget Richard Burns. Gone too soon. A real legend! :(
R.I.P. Richard Burns, never forgotten.
Brilliant film, really captures his brilliance, really nice of those students to make this. Worthy cause!
Only ever 2 British world rally champions,
Both died so young,
Tragic.
BUT NEVER FORGOTTEN !!
R.I.P. hero's
"...something special". A rare talent such courage an extraordinary man a true champion and inspiration to us all.
I met him back in 2000. Just briefly. I can't believe this is 20 years since his world title. Gone too young. How cruel life can be to rob someone so talented. Anyone else here in 2021? Celebrating his life and legacy?
I had around 14 years old but ill never forget him, was one of my favorite drivers and one of the best in Rally Acropolis.
Thinking a lot about him... God bless his family.
What a moving tribute. RIP RB!
Beautiful video. RIP Richard.
So hard to watch that. Haven't had to hold tears back so hard before. Such an inspirational film. T-Shirt on order now.
Rip Richard burns you are sadly missed loved watching you driving the wheels of you car.
We miss you Richard.
Almost 15yrs since Richard Burns passed, as a fan it still stings our heroes will never be forgotten. There's only two or three people apart from immediate family I still get a little blue thinking about Richard Burns, Greg Moore and Brandon Lee. Keep up the great work and his legacy will live on.
I have may fond memories of Richard (and his dad) from his days as a member of the U17CC. Never forgotten!
rip burnsie,we all miss you
thanks for the memories and the richard burns foundation.
you won't be forgotten
went to the 1st rally at RAF Marham with my father-a great memory!
I can't even begin to imagine the pain he had to endure. I will never forget him. Truly a great person and one of the greatest rally drivers I know
very emotional watching this ... never forgotten rip
Great video, great cause and he was a great man. What a champ.
This was really tough to watch :( It's gonna be 15 years now in November since he died. You are a Legend Richard!! Much love from me
A fantastic man taken far too soon.
Rip Richard burns. I have his scale model WRC car in my cabinet and it will always be with me.
It was so terribly sad what happened to Richard unfortunately I only started watching WRC in 2004 so didn't get to watch Richard driving apart from old seasons in UA-cam. You have to wonder how long his brain tumor affected his prior performances as well as his rallies before Spain weren't great and of course a tumour dosent grow overnight. RIP Richard who was a fantastic driver and a great overall package for any team and was good on any surface.
Today it's 13 years without him...
Was watching Hammond enjoying his freshly rebuilt Subaru and with the help of nostalgia ended up here.
Had one of these cars the year Richard Won the title so he definitely influenced us fans. People who achieve that level of greatness in their lives will never be forgotten❤️❤️ I didn’t want to watch this video because it’s proper lump in the throat sadness, but I’m glad I did because we so often take life for granted. It is very cool to have all these moments online for eternity, for everyone to cherish. I hope his Wife family and friends found some happiness as time moved forward❤️❤️
What great times these years were, they are our hero’s, living the dream, and we enjoyed watching every second of it with them.
RIP Richard, such an inspiration
We still miss you Richard :'(
RIP Richards! You are dearly missed
I'm old enough to remember where I was and how I heard about JFK being assassinated. I remember clearly where I was and how I heard about Elvis dying. And I can recall vividly where I was and how I heard the tragic news of the great Richard Burns passing. RIP young man, I admired you greatly.
RBR fans will end up here remembering this man. I know it seems trivial but he lives on in that amazing game kept thriving by a dedicated community who love Rallying and love Richard. His spirit is there with us each time we tear up that dirt (and his voice literally guiding us through the tutorial stages).
2021. Still missed. What a legend.
You’re the best in the world!
R.i.p. Richard Burns. You are still so missed. 😢
Richard Burns was always (and forever will be) my number 1 Idol. A true legend who demonstrated endless bravery to show exactly what he, Robert Reid and their cars could do to take home the Champions trophy!
Once I've decided how, I'll be hoping to raise money next year for the RBFoundation.
Always the best. Always my hero R.I.P. Richard
In tears, incredible.
RIP :((((((((
Thought as much still as sad today as it was then.
What a great video... I watched it so many times and I will watch it again and again... Fantastic tribute!
25-11-20. 15 years. We remember.
Something so special about seeing both Burns and McRae throw those beautiful Blue machines around. Forever to be missed. RIP.
I wonder what has happened to the foundation as it seems sadly closed. RIP Richard. A True legend and will always be remembered.
So sad for Richard's family. It always happens to the good people. RIP to one of the best British Rally drivers Britain as ever had. As you can see many people have never forgotten him and lives on in many people's thoughts
God had a rally car in heaven,
He needed the best rally driver to drive it,
So he called Richard.
RIP Richard Burns!
Richards Burs, lyons heart!
15 years, we miss you Richard..
A wonderful tribute to a true champion, who's competitive exploits were as brave and challenging as his own personal battle. A true inspiration to all those affected by cancer.
Richard is a rally legend and will never be forgotten.
Sadness,RichardBurns and has other one is Colin McRae, they're very very good Rally Driver , Both of greatest driver will set in my heart and will not forget them.
hey richard burns you are best rally champions 2001
ill missed you for subaru world rally team!!!!!
RIP Burnsie
Richard, Missed by everyone and loved by all. Badly missed. WRC's Champion forever!
He was a legend!
RIP,from Brazil.
I never really knew him or met him, but he left an impression on me with his skilful driving and general attitude and I've never forgotten him. Just like one or two others from that era of Rallying, he is permanently engraved in my memory. I can only imagine how awful it must be to outlive your child.
When I play the game Richard Burns Rally, not play with. I'm going seriously! Miss You Richard!
Every time I hear those words 'You're the best in the world'
Greek fans will never forget...
@penned101 the music was written and recorded by Sezin Tugen for the film.
Wow not even 1 thumb down amazing, rip Richard
I stopped watching rally driving after we lost Richard and Colin. I just didn’t feel the same way about a sport I loved. Far too painful. Rest peacefully beautiful man. With love 💔
Heartbreaking still :'(
7 years today...
I really enjoyed this video and found it to be very emotional
'"Hero never die.
But they do all the time.
We are reborn again ... and ... again !8!
R.I.P.
Sir, Richard
I never forget, but I miss you badly in the world of rally!!! :(
It’s 20 years since his championship now...
RIP champ
Very moving. Nicely put together. Fitting music.
Good tribute; nice work.
Will Share Richard !!
He was an inspiration a world champion and a people's champion he died in his prime and a big light went out in the world rip Richard burns
Tho a sad year in 2005. As 4 years since his WRC title winning drive (which is a 3rd place podium that won the Champions for him 2001 ) which burns passed away. The same year was also for Michael Park's unfortunate demise in the same rally which burns won the Title 4 years ago is painful for British fans as well. Really sorry for the British fans for the unfortunate moment in the year 2005 which is the year to forget for British Rally fans. RIP Michael Park, Richard Burns and Colin McRae ( who also passed away 2 years later in 2007 )
