    i worked in a plywood mill making glue. the chemicals would destroy my boots in a month! i would always slab on some shoe glue every couple of weeks to keep from having to buy new boots. 175 dollars every couple of months, begins to add up! a bottle of this last years! i still have the same bottle of shoe glue from 2 years ago! love the stuff! god bless

      i found you can also mix some in a jar at a 50/50 ratio with either toluene, or xylene, and it will be thin enough to paint onto stuff in thin coats. it may need to sit overnight to fully dissolve. I recommend using a kitchen scale so you can measure by weight.

    I have an old cheap computer desk with a roll-out tray for the keyboard. It was manufactured out of compressed sawdust and vinyl, but over time, the sawdust started crumbling where the mounting screws affixed the rolling guide tracks on either side.
    So I removed the screws, cleaned the guide tracks, and re-affixed them to place with Shoe Goo. I let it dry overnight, and trimmed the excess with an X-acto knife. Works like new.
    The product also makes a great patch for shoes with softer leather like suede, as well as a great glue for broken outdoor items as it is not only water proof but has some flex for outdoor thermal expansion/contraction.

      @@BacktotheBasics101 + You're welcome. Another neat product is Red silicone. It is designed to take terrific heat, has flex, and bonds much like Shoe Goo.
      I used some to repair a broken washer-fluid squirter head to the hood of my car, as well as re-affix the base tracks of my Ronko rotisserie.
      Same problem really; hot metal, cheap plastic, hard screws.
      Solution: Clean contacts completely, let dry, and tastefully Red Silicone the shit out of it! :)

    Wow! I haven’t seen a bike like that since the 70s! My brother and his friends had bikes with banana seats and a high sissy bar in the back. He made a holder out of an old wire hanger and carried his baseball bat and glove to practice. My brother passed away and this brings back pleasant memories of him.

    I love the stuff! I got it at Walmart for what I paid for it at Lowes & got 3 times the amount. It was less than $4.00 at Walmart. I'm a Christian so you didn't offend me. I used it on 2 pairs of old sneakers. The 1st pair was an experiment & I used masking tape to make a kind of wall for the heel to be remade. The 2nd pair had the same issue with the heel worn down a 1/4" & used the tape but with this one the heel was black so I had some old oil paint to mix with the glue & it worked very well. Thanks for the tip on the grease. Take care & God Bless!

    The fumes from Shoe Goo are VERY STRONG. I used it to glue a Bridgestone Blizzak tire tread to a pair of old hiking boots. It setup too fast and the tread ended up not level with the shoes. I got a free plastic snow blade similar to the Dakota brand blade. I cut it in half and made it a "V" blade. I used hardware store 12x1 inch mending straps to make the frame behind it. Then used its original plastic wheels. The handle came from a Lawnboy push mower. I've used it two winters and it works well.

    i use shoe goo for splicing wire i want to stay dry. I use a butt splice and crimp it. Then take shoe goo and coat the splice with just a bit of the goo. then i take the 3/8 or 1/4 inch shrink which i already put on the wire and slide it over the butt splice add heat to shrink and if you didnt put too much goo on it should squeeze out a tiny bit on the ends. water proof and lasts forever.

This belt had never been used but had been sitting around in the shop for years and I guess because of the heat and cold over the years just weaken the glue where it was joined, anyway I used this and I have a new belt again. These heel caps are also nailed so they will be glued and nailed, gotta find the proper nails also. I'm wondering what the consistency of this glue is when it dries. Is it like silicone which is soft and rubbery or is it more like an epoxy or something else. How tough is it? How flexible?

    I just used shoe goo on some suede leather boots on a tear in the suede leather. The area repaired will never been seen, because there is leather fringe over that area.
    I'm in hopes that this will do the trick, because the boots are the pull up on the leg type. =-)

      The way I applied that it did not look very good but did the job well. But people do use it to keep the soles of shoes on and so on. I use it on a number of different things. But you're right it can ruin the look of something and one must simply use one's head. Thanks for taking the time to leave a comment.

      Being as I denounced God at the age of 4 while sitting in church dressed up like a doll, after being kept up all night by the painful pink curlers that were brutally installed on every Saturday night to keep up appearances by our psychoticly abusive foster parents-I will admit that the laugh was at tying in Shoe Goo with religion. But I have grown leaps and bounds in the last 15 of my 44 years, and with the influx of offending as a form of humor, and illusions created by machines as the expected form of talent and beauty, it's refreshing to see the basics being brought forth as skillful and admirable-even if it is under something that I consider to be noncritical thinking due to fear and the need for answers to the unexplainable. Thank you for the gentle response to my cryptic comments. Have a wonderful evening.

    • @combatgirl38
      @combatgirl38 7 років тому

      I have a hard time with anyone who feels the need to explain the unexplainable with even more unexplainable "answers", but to each his or her own. I used the shoe goo on a pair of black leather shoes with black rubber souls and the shininess of the glue has left them completely unwearable. I'm considering painting over it but I know that it will wear away quickly. Trimming this type of glue is a nightmare but I am also considering that as well. I was recently fired from my job at a very "Liberal" gourmet pizza place called Pizza Luce at the end of May after laboring for 18 years, despite being a waitress. I was always the only one working by cleaning when we were slow, but our new general manager for some reason had no respect for tenure like mine and came after my job immediately the first time we worked together last year. I was trophy hunted by this failed cop turned 10 year Applebee's general manager that they hired to whip our location into more corporate shape. While I was actually looking forward to having someone enforce a work ethic in to these self entitled 20-somethings, instead I was fired for calling in and being the 3 minutes late I promised. So-I cannot afford to replace these shoes on $300 a week unemployment while also raising a daughter who is going into her junior year of high school. No gold watch for me, and our corporate headquarters-including the owner of the location I worked at who is a woman I've known since I was 19, let this happen and no one except for HR has contacted me since it happened almost 3 months ago. While the republicans are supposed to be the bad guys, it's publicly ultra liberal people like my employers of half my life who backhandedly practice Reaganomics behind the scenes who are almost dirtier because at least the bigots are up front. {You know, just to throw some politics in with the religion added to the basics of gluing a shoe...}

    I use shoe goo for everything and the bible for everything +
    I repaired holes and rips in fabric several of which where in my pants including a full blown crotch rip. A 13" rip in a 60 gal abs plastic pond that nothing else worked on it ($0.1 fix on a $120 item). Reinforced elastic clamps at their week spot before using and they have lasted years. Coated tiny wire connections. I have a long list.
    Since you are a bible person check out the verse above it at Acts 2:34 and ask yourself where is David, and WHY did he not go to heaven? Often it makes people think about how much that can be overlooked in reading.

      I’ve worn boots all my life, usually I get 4 to six years out of them. I oil them quite regularly. Those were my sons boots and I believe they were three months old. Boots made for work should not wear out like that in three months. The store manager seen them and immediately replace them. He said that was not normal and was faulty leather.
      Good leather will last for years.

      I was woke up in 2007 by Ron Paul who we adore, he challenged me to read the constitution Bill of Rights and Declaration of Independence. I Realized he wasn't crazy but all of America was. I might've been happier with the wool over my Eyes being a good old boy Republican, being enlightened is a heavy responsibility, I am now a state legislator as well. The highest compliment I have ever received, is when one of Ron Paul's sons said the Paul family was proud of me for standing up for what was right in my state when they noticed my voting record..... I was honored.
