Spot on Nathan - sorting your van after a hard days graft is often the hardest part of the day 😥😄
Cheers 👍 gotta be done tho
It's like taking waste away. People think it magically disappears and all the bags are cleaned, folded and tidied by a fairy. Maintenance of all your stuff is done by the gnome at the bottom of your garden. Honestly, no one gas a clue. Great vid, just shows we're not alone in our thoughts.
Everything takes time right, cheers mate 👍
Get the mrs to do it, equal opportunities. 👍
I do get offers of help occasionally but sometimes it's easier to just get it done👍
Can’t beat a good rant 👍🏻🏴🙋🏼♂️
I'm still sorting the van🤣
That's why I don't do landscape job no more can lose the next day just getting rid of the waste and the tools just maintenance for me now great video 👍
Cheers 👍 mostly we're maintenance and tidy ups but these jobs keep popping up😅
I'm the same pal never ending is it, I'm constantly back and too the container for other bits we do love it though 😂👌
Keeps us fit 😅
I had that today, got home bout 5.30, 5 dumpy bags of moss to empty, mower and scarifier to clean, all tools out and all the gear loaded for tomorrow 😢 bloody love being self employed 😂
On a Sunday too😬 I try and keep Sunday's for hangovers🤣
Nathan your van is exactly like mine, it may look badly organised but it's organised if you no what I mean, I've a tipper and a lock up now organised so that'll be my setup now up to the yard get on what we need and away we go hope your well 👍
I generally know where things are🤔😅 yard and tipper sounds perfect mate👍 cheers
Very true !
It's never ending sometimes 🙄 thanks for watching
Yep, That's my van every single night.........always needs an hour or so spent on it every bloody night, ready for the next day.........as you say, that's the reality of it ! 😊
All takes up time right 🤔 thanks for watching 👍
I'm the same. It's either an early morning or late evening to get the van ready the next day working around the kids. I've just got back from the unit getting ready for this week. Lime you say ,they don't see that side of it. And about to sit down and try and work out my rota for next month
Snap, just planning the diary.... although I just do the week. Cheers mate 👍 enjoy that sit down
Very true.
It's the worst part of the day sometimes 🙄 cheers
Hi Nathan Tidy van 😀 Nice video thanks again
You should see it when it's a mess. Cheers mate 👍
@@LewisgardenservicesLtd My old van Looked like a skip with tools
@@DJC995 🤣
Hard work mate. But honest work.
You're right there👍
Pain in the ass isn’t it. Thats what i love about mow blow and go’s. 2 mowers side by side, a strimmer and a blower. No waste away and all left in the van overnight (backed to garage) ready to to it all over again in the morning
Carl I like your style👌
Sounds ideal 👍👍
Good video mate. It's one big hassle isn't it 🤣
Cheers 👍 it is on times🙄😅
YOU LOVE IT!!!!!! 😂😂😂😂
Always 😅
I always forget to load up at least one tool. Last week I went to measure up a 180ft fencing job, forgot the wheel and had to use a 3 meter tape measure that I found on the dash. Very professional 🤔
The only thing I needed....in the shed😅 the good old 3m tape 🙄an 8m would have looked ok🤔 cheers 👍
That made me laugh Darren.........3m tape 😂can just imagine you doing that and the customer thinking "what the heck......"
Always good to hear a moan about something that's close to my heart 😅
Just about to do my 6.30am van load in the rain.... definitely a moan this morning 😅
@@LewisgardenservicesLtd you need an early finish and a pint tomorrow 🍺
Struck a chord with me Nathan me old mate. I have a similar problem (as you rightly say, we all do as business owners).. but listen to this.. I don't have a yard.. I'm in London which is full of people eyeballing and I don't have a van I use a seven seater car for work with seats folded flat 😂 So yeah it's a bloomin' challenge to put it lightly. I get around it.. I've some large gardens where either the customers are relaxed and/or one in particular where they aren't living there but like it maintained, which is great, so that becomes my "yard" .. but yeah.. not having a proper yard is challenging.
If it's working for you it's all 👍 over the years I've done similar with empty properties. Having a yard generally means you end up collecting all sorts 🙄 thanks for watching mate
It would be good if you had a pod, like Thunderbirds, you could pick up for that days work.
You have to go home at night and figure out what you need the next day.
Plus,all the admin,etc,etc
Thunderbird style sounds great 😅 yea, always something to do. Thanks for watching 👍
I've only got a little Citroen Berlingo, and I use to keep it super tidy and organised but now I just lob stuff inside and hope for the best 😂 I also moan when I can't find the smaller stuff haha
Smaller stuff will always be at th bottom and buried 😅
😂😂😂
I’m using a Toyota Yaris 😂😂😂 kids not happy going school in a car with grass cuttings and snail trails on the seats 🤭
😅bet they love it really
@@darattaqwa I used a vauxhall corsa when I first started
I know that feeling to well
A shared pain....the dreaded van sorting time🙄😅 cheers 👍
I did garden maintenance for a while they are long days and your lunch break is between travelling to one job to another eating and driving. Then there is fuel for the vehicle and equipment wear and tear on everything and book keeping so yeah there is alot more to it than what people think and then the big clean up of your equipment and vehicle when you arrive home.
There is always so much to do other than the job. Thanks for watching 👍
To be frank Nathen, that is the sign of a very busy working week in ya van. A mix bag of all the projects you have done. Your van is like many others a self contanied office/ unit . Its nit always feaseable to go empty ya van out for next day or time wise cost affective. Keep on keeping on with ya you tube vlogs.
It was a mixed bag that day, half a day on sleeper install then some maintenance and shifting kit about, maybe an extreme example but even staright forward maintenance days has the load and unload etc going on. Thanks for watching 👍
Yes indeed it’s all party to running a business… I’ve bought different size trailers different vehicles etc … it’s fun when I change van then leave keys 🔑 etc behind for gates in the other one (how posh) . Our minds are never off the job in hand … so too speak .. Success is just around the corner …. One bloke I know of runs a massive tree business and I often wonder how he manages ..but I suppose you pay people to do it … too much stress I’d imagine
You're right there's always something to think about, the stress of large business must be hard. I wouldn't want that, cheers mate👍
I am a gardener in London and don't even have a van! I am fortunate though in that my two, well one really sites both have on site tools. If you are a regular maintenance gardener, the client will often be amenable to buying tools for your use. Of course you can't charge so much. A van is also great as you can take waste away, the eternal problem with gardening.
Sounds like some big site you look after. We do so many different size jobs I think the supplier would love us if every customer bought tools for us to us. Thanks for watching 👍
Yes alot like my van
Glad it not just me👍 cheers
😂😂 - the key here is for every tool to have its own place in the van. I sort mine once a week if that 👌🏽
Maintenance work everything does, it goes wrong when fitting in other work 🙄😅
@@LewisgardenservicesLtd haha! 😅
"No tools left in this van overnight" Ha! 😂we all do it, the trouble is they complain if you're 10mins late.
Take all mine out, expect for hand tools.... although if they went missing it would be a right pain😬 cheers 👍
Get a cage trailer for all that shxt! Worth every penny 👍
I've a 7' and 12' trailer but dragging one on these jobs would have been even more work🙄😅 thanks for watching 👍
We could do a full length video on the pro's n con's of self employment.just got to keep believing that there's more pro's 🤔👍
There usually are more pro's, seeing them over the cons is often tough. Cheers 👍
Hi Nathon, you seem very good at posting on you tube , what about you start a fb site on guy's like us sharing views on different tool's and equipment we have used
Cheers, sounds a lot to juggle. There are some pro garden sites on Facebook but sometimes it's gets a bit heated when people prefer one brand over another etc😬🙄
HI,THANK YOU FOR REPLY.WHEN WE ASKED THE COUNCIL ABOUT BIN LORRIES EMPTYING BINS AT 7 AM THEY SAID THAT WAS THE HOURS THEY START,WELL WE AS LANDSCAPERS HAVE TO WORK WITH THE WEATHER AND CUT GRASS WHEN THE WEATHER IS FINE,IT SEEMS ONE LAW FOR ONE AND ANOTHER LAW FOR THE LANDSCAPER.THANKS AGAIN.
Maybe go around the person you're dealing with and ask someone else there
HI,I THINK THESE PEOPLE ARE OUT OF TOUCH WITH SELF EMPLYED WORKERS,STARTING AT 9 AM IN THEIR CUSHY OFFICES GETTING PAID WHATEVER THE WEATHER BUT I WILL TRY TO SPEAK TO SOMEONE WITH SOME COMMON SENSE,THANKS. @@LewisgardenservicesLtd
Nathan I always get my van ready the night before the next days work takes 30 to 40mins sorting out all the tools but great to hit the ground running the next day. I know how your feeling mate and then all the phone calls and planning at home never ending. Damien garden channel from Ireland✌️
Always in the van😅nice to be organised 👍
@@LewisgardenservicesLtd my van is like a bomb hit it at the end of any day fella👌
🤣
People think I am OCD, my van is always tidy, every tool has a place, and I always make sure they are put back properly, the only time really I have to sort out the van, is when I have waste. I do empty the van at night, have done for a while, apart from rakes and the like, so yeah that takes a bit of time, Just had the van cleaned too today, inside and out. OCD? ME? nahhh!
Nothing wrong with OCD on the van clean mate👍things do have their place in my van but it goes to pot when anything other than maintenance is going on.
@@LewisgardenservicesLtd I don't do much landscaping, and when I do it's just putting a bit of gravel down, and yeah that's when things go crazy
Minimum wage jobs can be the same you do your shift go home and then get texts and phone calls form the boss because there is an absolute emergency and they need you to cover! Or if you work from home and you get guilt tripped into working till 10pm at night by your boss for no more money.
It's not just self employed people that do extra work after they clock off. And they are probably making sure they earn more out of it.
I guess you're right, work can be hard if working for yourself or other. Getting some time to switch off if key I think 🤔 thanks for watching 👌
@@LewisgardenservicesLtd great channel mate keep up the good work 👍
@@aaron6841 thank mate👍
Know exactly how you feel, I’m the same every day. Not that I moan either 😂
We all suffer it😅just done 45mins of loading up the van for today 🙄at least it's dry. Cheers 👍
It's even worse in the morning, takes longer to get ready then put stuff away. 🙄
Yea, have to think what you need in mornings, put away seems less rushed and on autopilot 👍 cheers
It’s good fun though 😅
🤔 sometimes 😅
I know what you mean and worst thing to do is leave it till in the morning!!🤦♂️😅😆
Definitely not if you're back out the next day, always regret not sorting it. Have a good week mate👍
Yep let’s hope for better weather 👍
No mate, my vans worse. Sometimes enough is just enough, and it’s time to go home 👍
Everything is rammed in the van....let's go😅
@@LewisgardenservicesLtd Yea it’s just how it is 🤣
Hiya lewis question im thinking of getting scag 21 mower. Just to speed up my work have you use one just like to know what other good mowers out there besides the normal
I haven't used any scag mowers although the standers and zero turn ones have a good reputation so hopefully their smaller mowers would be of a similar quality. What type of lawns would it mostly be used for?
DoubleTennis court size and bigger ride on no good for me has I only have small van and restricted access
Standard lawns I have a small Stihl rm545 roller mower for me nice smaller lawns
I've used honda 21inch pro, never found them good enough to collect in wet but solid machines. I'm running Etesia mowers and have had no issues, any good dealers near you to compare or demo various mowers?
All the unbillable hours!
They do add up🙄 some jobs take more time off site than on unfortunately. Cheers mate 👍
Unfortunately, most customers won't think about this side of things. It doesn't hurt to tell them sometimes 😊
Can do any more sorry...have to go and empty the van😅I've said that a few times
@@LewisgardenservicesLtd 😂
But it's only 9 in the morning?😂
🤣I normally wait until at least 10am
my man you need a trailer!😂
I've got a couple, should see the state of them😅 parking is horrendous here so they're a pain some day. Cheers for watching 👍
What was the catchphrase. We’re gonna need a bigger boat. Er van😂
🤣 imagine how bad it would be it the trailer was hitched up too😬 when I saw your new van set up I thought, that looks great and would last a day with me😬 I'm generally organised on just maintenance days tho
@@LewisgardenservicesLtd 😂 I’m trying to stay tidy 🙈
HI,WE ARE A LANDSCPING BUSINESS AND START MOWING LAWNS AT 7.45AM AND NOW BEEN TOLD BY LOCAL COUNCIL WE CANNOT START MOWING UNTIL 8AM OR COULD END UP IN COURT,WOULD YOU KNOW IF THIS IS THE CASE,THANKS.
Generally it's 8am but the council around me are out before that🤔 7.45am isn't far from 8am so you must have met a right jobs worth it a neighbour of a customer has an issue
your ferris a stander ??
48" walk behind. Use it for some big banks we maintain, stander wouldn't cope but have been looking at them
