My Tikka T3X stock came with a plain black stock and after seeing some of the great looking infused rifle stocks out there I wanted one too. I looked up prices for a new stock and holy cow they ranged anywhere from $400 to upwards of $1000 for a polymer stock!!
I decided I can do equally well by just painting my stock myself and sealing the paint with a matte clear finish and I was right! Three different color paint cans (of which I used maybe 1/3 can each color) and a matte clear coat and the paint has yet to even chip once anywhere, many months and many range trips later.
All it takes is a little elbow grease and time and you can have a great looking paint job on your rifle too. Just be sure to take it apart and don't paint the barrel, scope, action, bolt, or accents, etc. And if you end up hating the look, you can always remove the paint and start again or go back to black.

People where I live charge $150-$275 to hydro dip a gun stock. Your method makes the gun your own and saves money to use towards another. Because you can never have enough guns! Just awesome.
Nice work. That’s a pretty cool and unique camo pattern!
Thanks. It’s been a while since I painted it and it’s still holding up perfectly.
Nice looking paint job. Out of all the other stock paint jobs, yours is the simplest and easiest but looks awesome. I'm going to paint mine the way you did it. Thanks for the video.
@@ShawnVue-v5m Nice. Let me know how it turns out, or send me a picture.
Great looking rifle. Good job! Be blessed
Thank you! It’s been a while since I painted it too, and it’s holding up great.
Just painted my Tikka T3 here in Australia after watching your video and came out great.👍
@@tonysambar Nice! I’d love to see how it turned out.
Have not seen that method before - looks great.👍
Thank you Tony.
I didn't expect to like the same green...but it turned our to be the best part!
I love it.
I think I'll try this on my Shot gun.
Thanks
You’re welcome. Happy to see you tried it.
Those colors worked great and yes it’s beautiful.
Thanks Garrett.
That looks great. 👍🏻
Dang, I was thinking of ordering a DIY Hydro-Dip Kit, but this looks pretty cool! And WAY cheaper and easier!
I love it need to do mind like that thinks
Yeah, great camo job and video. No cap!
Thanks Billy.

Just painted my first black Tikka T3x stock last week. Yours looks great
Thank you Derek.
I'm thinking you just handed me the solution I had been looking for trying to do an arctic camo pattern.
Nice! Just switch up the colors to match your specific hunting landscape, and you're golden.
Looks really good! How has it held up since you painted it? Has it started to chip or wear away at all?
Thanks for your question Tyler. The paint job's held up very well. I've taken it out a dozen times into several types of conditions, and there's no chipping or much obvious wear at all.
