- A hoe can come in many shapes and sizes. Today I make a leaf shaped one, that is perfect for digging and harvesting potatoes and other vegetables.

Also there's a kitten!
👍 да самое хорошее видео без музыки с хорошей съёмкой и редактурой даже без слов понятен весь процесс, а музыка нафиг не нужна она отвлекает и да дизлайки дураки только ставят на таком видео
Agreed
Amazing. You can even make a garden tool look beautiful.
Hey, it even looks like a potato leaf!

Potatoes won't have a prayer... Beautiful work.
I've gotta say for overall purity of the craft, and for your precise craftsmanship, your blacksmithing videos are my favorite.
I click like. Then click Play. I've never yet been disappointed by a Torbjörn video, absolutely trust every video will be great. Thank you!
Wow, thanks!
I am also never disappointed in a Torbjörn video I love them and i always will love them
Lol! That’s exactly what I do!!!
I am terribly sad that this tool is not called a potathoe
that is a very underrated comment 🤣
I’m dead on laughing 🤣😂
Beat me to it, dammit. Nice job. 😊
And I thought that's what Irishmen and Poles referred to their wives as! Jkjkjk kocham moją żona :)
Same dude same-
There's nothing more I like, than to watch a master craftsman at work. And, what I really enjoy about this video is no crappy music dubbed in. Watching a master blacksmith at work without all the lousy music and boring dialog or monologue it such a pleasure. Seeing blacksmiths at work tells its own story. The visuals and the audio of the work are the story-line and plot. The final product is the epilogue, or the final chapter of that story.
If I thought for one second, that I could afford to buy any of the things that you make I would do so without hesitation. I know quality work when I see it. I'm a blacksmith/knifemaker, but nowhere near the skill level as you. I specialize in Northwest Coastal Native tools of The Greater Pacific Northwest Coast of North America. I mostly just make tools for my own use now and broke away from trying to retail and sell what I make. Most people just want me to give them the tools, rather than buy. So I make, but don't sell. It was a frustration that had haunted me for years, so when I gave up selling I found the joy of blacksmithing and knifemaking again.
I am hired occasionally to teach, give demonstrations, or to make tools at an Alaskan Native Heritage Center for their woodcarving classes... that is the only time I charge for my things, and I never yield any profit from it. However, I get the joys and pleasures of watching young people use the tools I make and take pride in the works they learn. It's a worthwhile tradeoff.
Thank you for always making inspirational videos, and thank you for always being the master craftsman and professional that you are.
Thank you so much! I can relate to what you're saying. Continue teaching!
This is beautiful craftsmanship. There is something inherent to humans about appreciating a well made tool, I can't help but find this fascinating.
Thanks!
A mix of genius, industry, art, agriculture and the joy of life
Good luck
As I watch this video, what strikes me most is the _apparent_ delicacy the power hammers exert on the hot metal when you are fist shaping it. I'm sure they are hitting the mettal much harder than it appears, but it looks as if you are barely tapping the metal into shape - almost as if you are asking the metal to form itself.
It's another beautiful tool you've created. Thanks for sharing the process with us.
BTW - I cannot express how grateful I am for the natural sounds of the forge and workshop while you work. I greatly appreciate them; to me, they are peaceful, calming music rather than the squawk of an artificial overlaid musical score.
Thank you! It's a great hammer with good control so you can do light blows quite easily.
That is a work of art! Functional art! So awesome!
The Thunder Bear’s son: “Papa Bear, I would like a new bike”
The Thunder Bear: “ No problem little bear, Let me fire up the forge..” lol
Another 25 minutes when all the madness in the world temporarily goes away. As ever, thank you.
Love you’re comment. It’s so true. Greetings from Norway
3 minutes in (still watching) and i'm posting ....All i can say is whew, it was good to see you workin some steel...Okay back to watching...
Thumbs UP Torbjorn....God Bless
Few things rival the joy of watching a skilled artist at work.
You have this garden tool for a lifetime. This is still quality work. That can still be passed on to the next generation. Later they can proudly say that their grandfather did a great job.
Thanks!
@@torbjornahman Wishing a nice evening.
The Rolex of gardening tools.
Always a pleasure watching you work Thunderbear.
Your work is a gift for us to enjoy. Thank you for sharing; much appreciated.
Don't want your videos to stop. Another work of art.
This man is the Rembrandt of metal.
Many years ago I was fortunate enough to work in a smithy for a short time. An interesting lesson!
I'm really amazed by how you manage to make all your forgings look so clean. Amazing work.
Great smithing and good looking waxy red potatoes. Potato soup! Potato salad!
This is still one of my favorite videos.
Utterly gorgeous work!
Thank you Alec! Cheers!
Just two blacksmithing dudes being bros

Just wonderful! Thank you for all the work to record and share your forging and garden adventures.
Thanks !
Another excellent video, I've said it before that you set an example to all UA-camrs. In years to come your tools will be collector's items.
That is not only a very functional tool but, I would have to say that your level of craftsmanship elevates it to near artwork. Nicely done!
Those Japanese saws are magic aren't they? Wonderful work, I just hope you get rewarded properly for your skills.. So many people now just aren't prepared to pay a true craftsman what he's worth..
You are by far the best blacksmith on you- tube.
Your garden is amazing.
I like this, no music, no talking, just the work
I remember eating potato cakes off a hoe when I was a kid on a field trip to a old village in my city. We also made candles. Was a great time. This was in the 80's.
I just want to give a shout out to steel. Amazing material. And also hitting things. BIG shout out to hitting things.
This is fantastic work. It would be amazing to hoe potatoes with a tool of that caliber! The roots don't know how lucky they are.
:) Thank you!
I've been watching you work since your channel was very small. It's almost therapeutic watching your craftsmanship. I wish I had even half the tools and knowledge you have. Hell I'd settle for a real anvil and forge.
Thank you very much!
Call me selfish but I wish you needed a new tool every day... Hands down the best blacksmithing channel on youtube!
Love the new video! As an ex Letter Carrier and now a NYC History Teacher, I know and respect hard work. Seeing you in your shop in the summer doing this video for us tells me how dedicated you are as a craftsmen and person. Thank you again! PS, loved the "mud bug" video.
Thank you!!
I am instantly a fan of your work. You know the best un-secret of blacksmithing - accuracy. The one who needs to swings the hammer least is best. Excellent work and, more importantly, excellent technique. Now, I want to watch all of your videos. And, I am jealous of your toys.
Swings?
Wow, thanks!
I can watch you make handles all day. It's such an impressive skill. Thanks for posting.
Thank you!
Torbjorn! Oh how we’ve missed you! Love the potato hoe AND your little grey helper!
Skills and art in balance - it is a privilege to watch a true craftsman at work. Thank you.
I love the mix of old school and new school tools used to make it. Awesome job as always. You definitely have talent on tap.
Really beautiful job, you made the handle look real easy. Your garden is looking swell too.
Okay, I laughed harder than I should have at the cartoon swearing.
I love your attention to detail. Transitions of radii, fixing the missed hit, focus on the form and shape of the handle... all exemplary workmanship! Thank you for your work... it is a pleasure to watch!
Thank you Stephen!
It has been a long while since I last saw one of your delightful videos. So glad I got the notification. I hope you and your loved ones are all well.

That spider lived to tell the tale so that noone gets near the barn
Not the one at 12:11 though
You sir are a master of your crafts. Not only blacksmithing but also videography, editing and Gardening.
I so love your work!!! Thank you SO much for sharing it with us! You have such beautiful gardens!
Thank you Alice!
Beautiful work and cute kitten. Lovely potatoes.
wonderful job, very well done. I liked the positive potato at the final...
Nice job ,and a lot of satisfaction for potato vegetable, with quality control... your cat !!!!
Hello Mr. Torbjörn Åhman, do not be tired, your work is unique and professional
Nice trick there, with hot-gluing the cutoff strip back on so you could mark out and cut the other sides of the handle. Really clever!
4:22 a vfx artist and a blacksmith
I love it
Beautiful tool ! It is amazing how much you can say without saying anything !
It really is!
Your daughter's cat stopped by to make sure you were doing it correct. You definitely have a great skill and I'm glad I can learn from you. Thank you very much for taking your time and making the videos
Thank you
That is a very nice tool,
Torbjörn!
everything you make just screams quality, life long sub here
Thanks!
I've been watching you for a few years and don't remember seeing you forge weld before? Nice to see. Digging for potatoes is like hunting for treasure. Awesome tool.
Thanks, it is... you never know what you will find!
Awesome work! Thanks for sharing and God Bless you sir!
Thank you for this video. I started to see the video, i stoped and i make's me a tea and start the video again... So relaxing. No voice and hard work. Maybe this is what many of us need from time to time. Again. Wonderful video.
Thank you!
I was scared at first that you would not use linseed oil, but you did so i'm relieved x)
Also you have some nice looking potatoes !
Wonderful my friend! Great project, no talk just action. No music, perfect video. Keep up the good work!
A quality tool that your great grand kids will be using. Great job.
Marvellous, as always. Your blacksmithing videos are still my favourite. Tack så mycket!
All of your work is so beautifully done, the tools, smithing, gardens, buildings, and of course the videos themselves. Great work
Thank you very much!
I used to follow a lot of blacksmithing on Sword ...but toi teached me really a lot on this vidéo, so poor on stock removal. All made by forge !
Thank you a lot for all 🙏😁
Wish we had a tool making blacksmith like you here. The forge and foundery were closed long before we moved to this town. All that's left is hidden under vines, briars, and spent charcoal and coke.
Would be an honor to work with a piece of art like this
Awesome job, especially on the bevels. Thanks again!
Love to see a well made and functional tool actually being used. 👏
A beautiful and functional tool. And a cat toy too!
That was amazing to watch. I really enjoy watching you make tools, it's really relaxing. Great craftsmanship as always. Thank you for sharing.
Brilliant as usual. Thank you for sharing.
I guess working in a forge shop has brought me to loving blacksmithing! What beautiful workmanship! I love ❤️ it! I wish I was 40 years younger and could start over!
Thanks!
Beautiful..... I am awe struck..... Such attention to detail..... You are truly skilled.... and I admire you
Thank you so much
Love from india 🇮🇳 I wanna become as skilled as you are.
Good
Great Job! 😃🤙🏻

Wife: Honey, please bring some fresh potatoes for dinner.
Torbjorn: Sure, but let me make a proper tool first :)

I put a million likes for you and your wonderful work
I love watching the Forge Weld process. Ive always thought it was awesome! Bring the metal to critical temperature, pour Borax on it, then start whacking away til it's one piece. 😊
EXCELLENT FILMING. LET ALONE THE CRAFTSMANSHIP.
Excellent as ever.👍
Work of art. Will last several life times. 👍
That was so good to watch no music just the sound of man and machine doing their thing. TFS, G :)
Beautiful and functional, I love that!
Man, this is absolutely stunning to watch! Great stuff! What a treat! Keep it up please.
THUNDER BEAR ROCKS!! Best blacksmith on UA-cam!!
My Dad has a hoe like this, my Grandpa made it in Poland and brought it to the US with him when he immigrated in the 1960's. It cuts through our clay soil better than any other garden tool. Beautiful craftsman ship, if you ever start selling them I would be interesting in purchasing one. I'll even come to Sweden to pick it up! 😸
Thanks!!
Haha i love your cat. My cats really like to watch me while i dig the ground then they will sit in the holes that i'd dug for planting the trees. So every time i wanna plant new tree, i have to dig faux holes for my cats too.
Haha 😅 I thought you would say you need to move your cats from the holes before planting but that is brilliant.
Ha ha!
Well done mt friend. Always in awe watching you work your magic. Russ Pennsylvania US
I'm glad the spider from 11:29 made it out ok in the end.
Such amazing an talented craftsmanship you have good sir
