We Walked Alone for 6 Days in the Canadian Wilderness - Hiking the North Coast Trail
Вставка

- The North Coast Trail may be one of the most difficult hikes in Canada. Covered in water-soaked bogs, it's only relief is the many beaches sprinkled along it. Over the course of 6 days, we walk this most epic of hikes.

Hey Eric, I usually don't comment but I had to on this one. Thank you so much for this video! The storytelling is incredible, it feels like coming along for the hike. The views are great and it really shows the natural beauty and atmosphere of this remote place on Vancouver Island. Absolutely fantastic!!!
Glad you enjoyed it!
I agree
Eric is why I hiked alone. I can't believe the crap that goes through that guy's mind.
Yuka is a riot! "Can i check?" hahahahahaha!
Those car tires filled with foam are used as dock flotation, and inevitably rust/break off and end up in the ocean!
Now I know!
I love how yuka just drops the f bomb when she see’s how big the bear is
Cracked up lol. She's funny
the swer word!!11!!!!!!
Canadians swear like they breathe
I can remember sitting-in a bucket, crossing a shallow wide river, in Canada's Alberta region. 200 feet above the river. The bottom of the bucket was rotted-through. And the steel-cable line had not been replaced in decades. It was the scariest 300 foot crossing in my three decades of hiking. Beautiful video!
You both are absolutely amazing , so knowledgeable ! You have such a lovely balance ,both in supporting each other in everything that you do & a love that is very special 💖the diversity & the adventures you undertake are fantastic !!!! a pure joy on & off the bike !! God bless 😃👌🤙👍
This is probably my favorite video you've done, theres something about the pacing and the vibe of the trip that lends itself so well to your filming and narrative style. The beautiful environment doesn't hurt either. So. Good.
I did some multi-day hikes along the beach on the west-coast of USA. I experienced everything you did ... except for bears. This video brought back a lot of memories.
20:02 haha i love just sleeping on the beach with no tent when i'm on a canoe trip but it is definitely better in the middle of the summer, just gorgeous to lie in your sleeping bag and look up at the stars after a long day of paddling
The NCT is awesome. Certainly one of my best time in Canada (with Squamish)
The bear @14:31 she was on the same spot two years ago, same character, same look
@@adijay9760 She's probably seen a few hikers go by :)
The format and style that you developed for MTB videos really carries well to this type of adventure. I hope we can see more videos like this in the future!
Love this!! You should do more backpacking videos!!
This looked like a really fun adventure. I liked the bear that held his ground on the beach log.
Whatever happened to the rental car?
i think they drove back around with the van to go get it afterwards? that makes the most sense to me
I had the same question, just abandoned maybe?
😂 was asking myself the same!
Picked it up after with the van, just like you would if you were shuttling for mtb. :)
The bears are driving around in it
This video was epic! I was smiling the whole time watching it!
We did the hike a couple weeks ago. They’d only had 10 sunny days out of the last 130, so it was a whole lot muddier and wetter than your hike. Liked your aerial video, to see how pretty it can be - we had mostly overcast days.
That is awesome! My friends and I did the Juan de Fuca trail a few years back and it was absolutely beautiful. Our plan is to do the West Coast trail next, but the remoteness and beauty of this place might change our minds. Great video and good to see you out there adventuring with that cast on! 👌
Thanks you guys. Really enjoyed the video.
Thank you for making this wonderful video. Its put a big smile on my face . Although I live in the UK I am fortunate to have visited BC , Whistler & Vancouver Island . You are so lucky to live in such a beautiful part of the world. Keep up the good work. I am sure your videos are helping people cope during these difficult days. Stay safe.
I gotta appreciate the placement of the ads, it doesn’t interrupt the hike at all 👍
Get the Brave Browser. No ads ever
Awesome episode! Super chilled, can't wait for you to be healed and back on the bike though. :D Love ya work mate!!
"Can I check?" she is so cute.
👇 this is how cinematic this video is
Eric and Yuka taking me back to my roots in the outdoors. You guys are awesome and this is such a great video!! Thank you both!!
My favorite UA-cam channel, you two are amazing! Greetings from Mexico :)
This is way better than that Alone crap.
Whoa! That's a wild adventure!
Is yuka German? Cause she shouted Hallo...
(Hello in German)
Great video, loved the scenery.
Hi Eric and Yuca, been following your channel for a year now and i really love your content. The mtb vid's are my favo, i binchwatched most of your playlists, especially the north american tour is my favo, love to see how you are progressing. I'm 42 and only been biking for like 2,5 year. So i get some of your fears and mindblocks on some mtb features, it's not easy to overcome these fearsor mindblocks at this age... but your videos are a huge motivation for me to overcome my fears as well. Also am a big nature fan so this hiking video is really nice, you guys are so lucky to live in such beautifull place with so much nature and mountains. If you ever plan a Europe tour, make sure to hit me up so i can show you some of the nicest places over here! Heal up well, i miss the mtb video from you!
Very nice to see a hiking adventure on your channel! The video came out great. 😀👍🏻
Really enjoyed this more then your mountain biking
Wholly cow, look at the size of that wolf print!! Much bigger than a coyote.. YIKES....
That bear was like whachu yelling at me for bruh? XD
Yeah Eric as a fan of your content for a few years, i see the progression and evolution. you've gone from mtb pov guy to full on short film maker. I guess that would happen when one has the spirit of an artist. Brilliant work dude!
-Sam
Thanks for that Zen :) Always trying to improve my craft!
Super beautiful video, well done!
That's beautiful trail and a very nice video. It would be cool to know what you all packed, a 6 day hike with food, gopros, jetboil and a drone. Iv only done the boardwalks around Revelstoke, giant cedars boardwalk is so beautiful
Got to love how the on the North island logging roads can get you pretty much anywhere
Fantastic walk. Very well developed compared to wWillmore wilderness area around Hinton Alberta.
I was fully planning on ignoring this video. Something told me to watch it anyway. I'm glad I did! Great story and well done on many levels. 👏
Please! More backpacking videos!
Amazing adventure
This is one of the best videos you have made. No matter the views, it’s underrated
Thanks Emma, I imagine this one won't do well as its different from the usual topic. But, I'm glad I made it.
I love your videos so much! If you and Yuka did more things like this that would be so amazing! This made me want to go out and hike on a pouring raining day! Hopefully I'll work my way up the ladder of hiking trails one day to be able to do something like that!
Keep up the amazing work you two!
Oh look a bear ! Cool let stop and have lunch exactly where the bear was so he can smell our food and come back with all his mates !
I was hoping you'd send the drone to visit the relaxed bear. I hope you had bear spray.
If you love wilderness with high-altitude adventures like trekking and mountain biking you should visit Nepal.
Honestly watching this channel as someone who doesnt travel and just sits on a chair playing games for a whole day i never knew i would enjoy this type of content
Go experience it yourself a little.
Thank you - for persuading me to never do that trail. I can recommend the Nootka Island trail, if you haven't done it.
That bear was like
"Im tired, can you please be more quiet?"
FINALLYYY! I’ve been waiting for a new video 🙃
I love your drone shots! I'm guessing you'll only be able to use it at the start since you'll quickly drain the battery, and there's no where to recharge ... unless you brought solar panels or some hand-crank charger!
A cool fact about wolves.. Some hunters when setting up camp will use a wolf call to bring wolves into the area. Wolves are far less likely to harm a human than most other animals, and their presence scares of other animals. Ive used a wolf call once, and about 45 minutes later a very large black wolf came out of the woods into the valley. It circled us, stopping and sitting every 10-50 meters.
I wished that anecdote was 3-4 paragraphs longer.
This looks amazing. I've been having fun touring around and making videos on the trails in Maine, but I've got to be honest - I'm REALLY looking forward to when we've conquered this virus so that I can go check out some of the beautiful places you're showcasing on this channel. Thanks so much for sharing these places, it's also really nice to be able to "travel" through these videos at a time where it's not easy to actually travel in real life.
what an awesome Adventure. This was a great video Eric
My goal in life is to become as chill as that one bear
I love bikes, but this is one of your coolest videos in a while!
Great video. Do you happen to know where I can find info or a map on the logging roads and then the bushwhacking to shushartie bay? We're having no luck with water taxi
More of backpacking like this!!! Love it
I love this!!! My whole channel revolves around sending pit bikes up some serious enduro trails!
Very disappointed........disappointed this wasn't a multi-episode series. Seriously, thank you and hope to see more like this!!
You should go back to Florida when COVID clears they just built a new double black trail with 2 pretty insane features(loyce harpe park)
Good on yea mate
What a great video. I absolutely enjoyed it. Speedy recovery Eric🤙🏼😊
Amazing! Looks a lot like the West Coast Trail but even more remote and less popular. It's definitely on my list! Can't believe that bear was so chill, I've only seen them act like that in places with a LOT more humans
Glad y’all were safe there’s probably not much help out there.
This was one of your coolest videos and you didn’t even ride. Thanks for showing us the hidden gems of Canada.
Myself and a few friends did the west coast trail and we saw about 4 people get hellied cause they slipped on the roots and broke bones
yo I love your vids. even if its not BTMing. Will you ever ride in Las Vegas?
You should absolutely throw a few more hiking vids into the mix, this was great! One day, visit Tasmania, Australia to hike the overland track (similar but inland) and Derby bike park.
Yuka stole the show😂✌
Any bear attacking? 4.00 very beautiful place.👌 Yuka innocent face very cute 🤣❤️❤️🌴🌴
Love Eric and Yuka. From 🌴🌴kerala 🌴🌴
Very nice.
Hahah i laughed so much right at the beginning start walking already fall 😂😂
Wonderful story, thank you for sharing!
Loved it. Such scenery !!! Great job...
awesome video
This made me feel like I was watching a David Attenborough film. Eric you put so much time into doing these things and I see why. This is why I watch your videos!
Yuka calling the bear a big motherfucker was the highlight of my night
Anyone watching this while there in school?
yeeeee
Yesssssss
and while there is a whole ass hurricane outside and we lost power
Yes
@@marcusmcclure2451 wow, hope you are okay
Breaks his wrist falling head first from a boulder, goes on a 6 day hike instead of riding. That's the spirit :) ....
ps: I am terrified by bears. We have snakes, pumas, coyotes, poison arrow frogs and a bunch of stuff that can kill you in Costa Rica. But freaking BEARS????? No, thank you. I had encounters with wild hogs and met pumas 2 times, but I am not going into bear territory.
Next up sunshine coast trail in powell river? Another multi day hike, you might be able to get the cast off when your done and do some cool trail riding to get back in tiding shape after
what would you do without Yuka..
Great.. I'm from Indonesia 🙋 I love adventure too
Come here visit Indonesia
This was easily one of your best videos Eric. I've been wanting to do this trail for quite a while, but getting out for Calgary takes alot of planning. Your narration and film work have improved immensely since your beginning. I can't wait for you next video. Good luck on the healing and can't wait to see you on the bike again, but throw one of these videos in more often. We've got so much to show the world with the beauty of our backyard. Great Job!
Did y’all enjoy it.
Absolutely brilliant! I’ve been riding mtbs for 30 years in the uk and really enjoy both your channels . My other passion is hiking and camping and my wife and I have done a good few hikes just like this. It’s a real shame that there is a genuine dislike of riders over here from many in the hiking community and I get a good few negative comments from walkers when I put up a riding video. Is it the same over there or is it a case of live and let live? Keep up the great work guys 👌
“ HEY BEAR!!!!!”
Yuka is the best trail buddy. He energy and humor is so likable!
Awesome trip- have to come and meet those bears! Do you have to book the trail?
Wow, amazing stuff eric and yuka! The shore looks absolutely surreal and that one stubborn bear was such a cutie. It's nice to see you out there having fun, even with your broken wrist. Keep it up!
I like this ❤️
Great vid. Your mtb videos are awesome but this was such a refreshing change up. I think all us mountain bikers can agree that biking in nature is amazing, but being out in the wild any way, is one of the best parts, even if it is on two feet as opposed to two wheels. Would definitely not mind seeing more content like this from you two.
There are NO bikes here!)) Foots and legs are working-walking))
What a wonderful journey!! Thanks so much for sharing.
Bruh, wtf was that last bear even doing?!
We 👏 need 👏 more 👏 kinds 👏 of 👏 videos 👏 like 👏 this 👏
15:50 me staring and waiting for my favorite Sushi conveyor belt
Fantastic work Eric. What a great adventure story! And that bear just wanted to nap!
Wow, beautiful country! I grew up boating in the San Juans and into BC's Gulf Islands and Desolation Sound. PNW is the finest in the lands, cheers! Also, that lazy bear was awesome!
