@@DanCBearded cheers buddy,I’ve also taken your feedback on the seven potions products and ordered the oil, balm, shampoo and conditioner in citrus tonic so looking forward to trying them in my beard 🙌🏻🙌🏻 Thanks again for all the top advice
Coming from someone who is very inconsistent drinking water, it's super accurate. When I pay attention to my water intake my beard feels exponentially better. On the occasions where my beard isn't feeling it's best I will definitely add some oil or butter for a boost. Another great video, Dan. Thank you!
I get that some people hate the idea of butter during the day, but the liquid summer butter (Ruddy Man) changes this for me as its basically so far as i can tell a hybrid, and importantly doesn't at least for me cause excess glossiness or stiffness. They call it Summer butter but i just call it Day Butter, that with whatever good oil i like underneath has left me the happiest with my beard ever.
Did not consider a midday routine. I haven't really had dry or brittle hair. I will consider keeping myself well hydrated and appreciate this important information Thank you Dan.
Excellent! For oil, I like a guideline of 2-3 drops from stubble to an inch, and 2-3 drops per inch thereafter. I’m aware of a “standard 20 drops per mL (or dropper)”, but I don’t get a consistent amount from dropper tops I’ve used. A mid-day routine may not be every day, but should be kept in mind for weather changes.
As always just great information. I know I routinely don’t drink enough water and really need to focus on my water intake. I always notice the more water I drink the better my stache feels and those days when I’m extra dehydrated the more dry and brittle it feels.
Honestly too I've found that because I have a naturally curly beard, to really get it soft I have to use my heated beard brush at 355 to actually get my beard to relax and then it feels uber soft.
Yup ! So true I need to drink more water in general. Glade to watch this content. Just to remind me to stay on top of my water intake. You said it brother !
Another great video from the teacher! Love the information and tips. I myself am guilty on the water front. Doing construction sucks the water out of me and I bet I don’t drink enough to replenish. Keep the tips coming Dan 🎩
I have experienced this, usually when I get home from work. I put in the old standby - coconut oil. And yes, I’m sure it happens on days when I don’t drink enough water. Good topic!
I used to have a midday routine, but I have upped my water intake over the last year and I've noticed a huge difference in how soft my beard stays all day, and I experience the midday thing much less now. I went from just a few glasses a day (and a Lot of soda) to about 3 quarts a day of just water. I live in the Vegas desert and I promise, more water makes a big difference. Something else I can tell you from experience.... If your body is telling you that you're thirsty, you are already dehydrated.
I used to have an area on my face that always seemed tough to comb through- started drinking more water and it instantly went away- My beard has never felt better. Ty Dan C appreciate all you do
I don't have a big beard, but I am a full dropper + 2-3 drops at least. If it's a thicker oil... I go slightly less. The key to fighting the midday brittle is, without a doubt, hydration. Now lately I haven't been good at drinking alot, but ensuring I drink 3-4 glasses + your coffees or sodas, protein drinks should be fun. Yes it sucks to have to go to the bathroom alot, but that's a good thing. Invest in one of those BPA Free containers or tumblers like Dan and get to sipping. Also a nice light balm helps but keep it simple... use your beard oil... drink your water... your skin likes it.
Another fantastic video with some absolutely solid advice Dan! I’ve been drinking about a gallon of water a day for many years. I know I’ve notice an improvement in not only my beard health but my overall health as well. I know using the right about of oil is key for me having the best beard possible. With how dialed in my routine is now and the current health of my beard, I have not experienced the need to have a mid day beard touch up. My beard feels great all day! 👊🤘
Great video Dan! My beard typically doesn’t feel dry or brittle, as long as I go with the proper style to accommodate the weather. Low humidity/dew point, great feel and appearance. If I straighten it on a humid day, then it will feel dry and off point almost immediately. If I just pick it out and rock it curly, no issues. I watch weather apps every morning to determine my look for the day to where I won’t regret my choice and ruin my day. But I’ve never felt a need to add oil midday. I have, however, craved my butter nightly routine. Just so satisfying! As far as oil in the morning, I use a dropper and a half for my thick mane. Lasts all day long!
I started drinking more water last year. When I slacked off for a couple Days definitely notice a big difference. Especially in the winter when house is dry and not as much humidity outside. I’ve been using a bit more oil too since the heat has been on. Great stuff💪💪💪
Hey Dan, great video and completely agree with you. At times when I'm working in a physical job and I forget or can't drink enough water after a couple of days, I can feel a massive difference in the brittleness of my beard. It's not as easy to style and doesn't look as good for as long.
I love the quality and nourishment of Honest Amish premium beard oil combined with the heavy duty balm during my workweek. I use the real 'smell great' stuff on the weekends; Artius Man, Detroit Grooming, Mad Viking, Beard Brothas, etc. and what I love most about my workweek routine for hydration maintenance is the dropper in the Honest Amish oil bottle! It fills completely with a single squeeze giving me the perfect amount to get it into my skin under my beard and throughout the hairs giving me a lasting softness that makes it comfortable to wear. I like that bottle and dropper so much that I put other products in the empty ones after I'm finished with the Honest Amish! I drink a lot of water too! Again great video Dan!
Yoooo that's crazy! I experienced this for the first time yesterday. I'm a little over 1.5 months into my first beard. I was gonna check to see if you'd made a video about this already. It was right on time lol. Thanks for the info Dan!
Great video Dan! I can't overstate how important water is to my beard health. I down loaded a free water drink app that vibrates every 20 min as a reminder to take a drink, works great for me.
I have a dry beard especially during the winter,so I'm using more oil. It's a great help! Honest Amish classical Artius Man Bay Rum.work well together. Grave Before Shave bay rum beard butter ,before bedtime. All on a damp beard. Thanks again Dan!😊😊😊
Always know when I’m not drinking enough water on my beard. When hydrated properly, beard feels great all day. Will say, it takes a couple of days for me to get it back right if I miss a day of adequate water.
@@DanCBearded honestly it astounds me to think there was actually so much to know.. and this was with out doubt alongside clearly being an amazing father and husband your calling. Good morning Dan, another valuable information, I started drinking more water per Dan recommendation, and yes I see a big difference in my beard. Thanks Dan, have a wonderful day.
Plenty of water and shower & butter before bed a couple times a week. Full dropper plus a little of oil after a shower, and blow dry when ever I leave the house. Beard stays very comfortable all day. Never an itch or brittle feeling ever.
There are definitely oils which have that effect on my beard. Some beard companies which people love and you can see they're good quality, they just don't work for my beard. I haven't quite figured out what the cause is though..I just know with other beard companies it never gets dry.. 🤷🏼♂️🤔
Great info Dan! I can always tell when I haven't been exfoliating enough, when my skin gets a little itchy or irritated part way through the day. Amazing how much we can learn about our skin and hair, when we start paying better attention to it. Also, jacking my water intake way up has been great all around. I probably drink a little too much, but I am already supposed to reduce my salt intake due to blood pressure, so I think a little extra water is fine. I am on average at minimum 1 gallon a day, to around 1.25 gallon. This is a bit over 1 oz per pound of weight, but I don't think it's overkill.
Michigan?! Dan, are you a Lions fan? Love your content! This is an issue for me….i am a welder and by lunch time my beard is just as this video describes.

Another great video Dan! Just a wealth of knowledge to the beard community. Is it ok to touch up midday with butter, even if you have applied balm in the morning?
If you have balm in already, adding butter will not help with anything. I would recommend oil down to the skin, but having balm can even complicate that
Question: does decaf tea, lemonade (Kool aid) and sparkling water count as proper hydration? And does having to take diuretics (plus heart/blood pressure/diabetic meds) due to health conditions figure into the hydration equation? Because of the diuretics, the more I drink, the more I urinate so, any advice for an old codger with a long-ish white beard?
So if I've never in my beard beard journey felt my hands greasy on that test, that means that I'm more likely on the using less side than on the using more side of my right amount of oil? 🤔
Haven't noticed my beard get dry and brittle, but definitely frizzy by the end of the day, especially after being outside in the damp Oregon winter. Any of these tips help with that, or is it just a skill issue?
So ive got a decently long beard,i work outside in an incredibly dusty sandy environment. add that to the sun snow and mud and whatever else. By mid day because of the wind and the dirt my beard is dry brittle and instead of flowing and long it's very dense dirty and doesn't move. i wash, condition, oil and beard butter then dry and style my beard every day. my gf says it's too much and i can still shower and rinse my beard but not to wash daily but she doesn't see my work environment and that feels gross to me. also your suggestion of a mid day touch up doesn't seem feasible for my situation, I'm thinking that adding oil or butter to my beard in that environment is going to have kind of a sticky fly trap affect on my beard and ill have more sand and dirt than i started with. Any suggestions on how to fix this?
I would for sure keep washing daily. I would go oil only during the day. The only way a midday would work is if you have a lunch break, then I would get it damp first and add oil. It should be dry by the time you are done with lunch
I am in a unique situation and I do get a lot of products sent to me, so I do not pay anything (not in any kind of bragging way, just answering with transparency). I use 2-3 droppers of oil after each shower
