@@alexanderholzer7392 it popped in my recommendations well over a couple of years ago. Has been a regular viewer ever since.
All the people worried that the morrvair was going to be super heavy - sometimes you need the mass.
I'm almost more impressed by the ropes and soft shackles holding up.
I think it's only about a thousand pounds more than the jeep. Those huge tires are really helping distribute the mass. They created a hell of a rig that's for sure 🤙

@@rickshiandmoku4128 That semi tractor is probably something like 12,000 pounds. So, it is only 2.5x the Morrvair, but 3 times the Jeep. When kinetic energy is your tool, that means a heckuva lot. The huge tires help once you are rolling, though. Jeep just would have had to get a little more speed up, but probably would have done this one. Great to see how each change has its pros and cons.
And all the people worried that the MORR crew eats very unhealthy at the gas stations - sometimes you need the mass. Haha. Like in this video where they all had to sit on the back of the trailer. :-)
@@chrisestill8825 No. F=ma. KE=1/2*mv^2, so the speed has a bigger influence than mass in the amount of energy. If you want to get picky, once you've put that energy into the system, the impact of the banana on the end of the rope will still impart a lower percentage of that energy to the truck due to the faster deceleration of the banana, which imparts force for a shorter time, decreasing the impulse on the truck. End result: the banana can do it, but has to travel a little faster so it puts in more energy, so the same force can be imparted to the truck in the end.
Matt loves the Corvair. We do too.

That really does make a difference! I worked with AWANA Cubbies for a few years, and I spent most of my time sitting on the floor so that I was eye-level with the kids. If you know what to look for, you can definitely see a shift in their perception when you get on their level. When they talked about me, I was "the Great Big Cubbie" - but they didn't hold my size against me.
Never forget your childhood, especially when with kids.
I appreciate what a stand-up guy you are. Letting the kids get their minute. The little ones eat that up. I sit down and watch M.O.R. with my 3 and 9 year old sons. They absolutely love it. They took an interest because their daddy operate a wrecker for AAA🇺🇸

Dunno bout that. I predict the axles breaking on it. Every video ive seen on it. The front axle has way too much bounce. Bouncing when at a stand still still is what breaks axle shafts. Dont care how big the axles are on that. You never wanna see bouncing like that. Everytime the axle jumps up then lands back down putting the tires in a spin then stop suddenly is a ton of force on the bearings and axle shafts

@@jeepsblackpowderandlights4305 yeah I dont even know much at all about this stuff but I know all the hopping is bad , I would imagine he does as well, it's still new and workin out the bugs. how do you solve that issue?
@@jeepsblackpowderandlights4305 I had a big block ‘67 Chevelle, wide tires in the back, and it suffered from severe wheel hop. I went to a narrower tire, and it stopped the wheel hop, and actually saw a quicker ET in the 1/4 mile. Could Matt’s front end wheel hop, be reduced by a narrower tire? Finding the balance between traction and floatation could be a bear. In a previous video, Matt did comment on his tires, saying the balder the better.

By the looks of Lizzy’s face, I think she was probably working at the shop when this call came in. Maybe welding? She’s not afraid of getting a little dirt on her face. Such a hard worker and an inspiration to all the young women out there wanting to learn what used to be “a man’s job”. You go girl!

With no load on you could probably pick up that whole trailer and swing it around in the air by one leg.
They're what, 6" box section? They'll be fiiiiine.
They're designed to support a fully loaded trailer, and drivers aren't always gentle when hooking or unhooking a trailer, a little tug like that when the trailer is empty is nothing.

This creates a delay that causes the captain to inquire,.he responds with let me handle it, my wife is a blonde. The plane is to fly New York to Washington and then on to Florida, so the captain comes back and introduces himself and asks of her travel plans, then whispers in her ear. The Morrvair is a beast, being heavier than the Banana I think it gave you an advantage on pulling the truck out. Even the trailer seem to be just as easy itself, great recovery again Matt and crew
This is the channel I go to to see the best of humankind. No politics, no aggression, no polarization, just humans doing what made the human race a succes: helping each other out.
I can relate to this recovery. While in Saudi Arabia for Desert Shield, I was on MSR Dodge dragging an empty low-boy towards an assembly area. I don't remember why, but I decided to turn around, in the process I became hung up on the asphalt. Not long after I made the stupid decision a Convoy of Engineers came upon my location and dragged my truck and trailer off the road.
Thanks Matt for uploading this video, and thank you even more for allowing the boy to be a part of this video.
I'll tell you what, slapping a MORR license plate cover on the plates before any filming is ingenious! Saving the editor a ton time too.
Awesome vid. I love the scenery in the beginning from the in-car POV. The sand blown across the highway and the beautiful landscape through the windshield. Watching your channel is making me want to move out West away from the miserable South.
Funny how kids can sense whos going to be good to them. Love watching Matt and crew with people, how they blur out names and plate numbers and don't embarrass anyone. This shows these are good people.

600 lbs ("a whole bunch of weight" 😄) on the rear end, levered against the length of the trailer, produces about 2 lbs of lift on the front end. I thought they maybe they were going to drive the white truck on the back.

I was thinking heave a couple of those side by sides that were sitting around on the back for some more weight!
Wouldn’t that have been an unexpected use of Jefe’s F-150, as a counter weight on that trailer?

I kinda thought he was going to nose up to one of the legs and cinch hook the winch line around the bottom of it and use the winch to lift some of the weight while he just backed up

Pulling a semi in loose footing is impressive! I notice the front axle hops when pulling; have you thought about testing out new anti-squat/anti-dive values by using some adjustable 4-link brackets on the axle? Great videos and I'm eager to see some more build videos.

@@johnhpalmer6098 Much too slow IN THE SAND. But this was basically a gravel road just off the pavement. Would have been a perfect deployment for a 5 tone.
@@Archemedes95 Some sort of falling out. If you go back a couple years, you will see Matt and Casey working together all the time. Casey has now started his own similar channel and you don't see any cross overs anymore.
It's always nice to see Lizzy, but when you can see Lizzy and her SISTER together, WOW! that is the best!
Yet another Super recovery by Matt &Co. I was called to a tow in the winter on ice, Sandy told me it was a small trailer called a "Lowboy". The driver assured me my little 11,000lb Ford tow truck will yank his semi + lowboy out of where it sank in the ice overnight. I said, "OK, let's do some quick math here." He was correct, but the county power pole was twitching & wagging like an over excited puppy dawg, as my twin line was boom up and overtop my cab to the pole. This focused all the load directly onto the head of the twin line boom. Recoveries are the Ultimate test of your skill sets. Great video and recovery by the entire counter-weight crew. Covid Blues don't stand a chance against Matt's Off Road Recovery team.
Never had any doubt that the MORRVAIR was up to the task. I would have been more surprised if it couldn't do the job.👍🏽
