I bet rolling with high level ufc fighters is gonna be much more difficult then a regular black belt. They are completely different level of athletes. The conditioning the speed the athleticism is different

You seem like a Nice lad, but i have to disagree. Yes, your moves will work in the restricted ruleset of jiujutsu against someoene who agreed to roll with you under said rules. MMA is much closer to reality and a Real physical altercation. Is Standard knowledge of BJJ Good to know for both? Sure, no denying that. Will a pure BJJ practitioner be able to apply his holds and shokes on som1 in MMA or a Real fight? Unlikely, Good Chances to get knocked tf out. That beeing said, people shouldnt hate on techniques being taught that are obviously Part of a SPORT that uses those

This is a troll comment, right? Like youre not really trying to say that BJJ or grappling in general doesnt work in MMA?

@@marvinr8280 No one at the top level of any MMA promotion is doing "pure" anything. Theyre all doing _mix_ of striking and grappling, thats why its called "mixed martial arts".

@@marvinr8280 these are your exact words - "will a pure bjj practitioner be able to apply his holds and shokes on some1 in MMA or a "Real" fight? Unlikely."
Theres thousands of videos and at least a couple dozen news reports of real people using grappling (mostly BJJ but not _only_ BJJ) to defend themselves in real fights, including women defending themselves from r@psts and robbers. Saying that something cant or _probably_ cant be done when theres thousands of verifiable examples of it being done is objectively ridiculous. If grappling didnt work then we wouldnt have MMA, we would just have boxing, kickboxing, Muay Thai, TKD etc. MMA literally _only exists BECAUSE grappling works_ so to say grappling or BJJ dont "work" in MMA is also objectively ridiculous.
Trying to limit the terms of the discussion to "pure BJJ practitioners" is silly - even if you do it youre still wrong because "pure" grapplers and "pure" BJJ athletes _did_ dominate in MMA in the early days. UFC isnt the be all and end all of MMA but its pretty relevant and the first few were literally dominated by a single BJJ purist. But talking about style purists in MMA at all is pretty ridiculous because there are none. The sports has long evolved beyond the level where a style purist of any kind can dominate. Some favor striking and some favor grappling but the grapplers train striking and the strikers train grappling.

Let's keep it 💯 Jujitsu is the fundamental Martial Art for MMA...esp UFC ..without the exhibition of Jujitsu and what Royce Gracie did in the first few UFC there wouldn't be one. That being said MMA has evolved and had to evolve in having to implement various styles of Martial Arts that work. As one of my professors stated when a jujitsu practitioner becomes a MMA fighter they have to not only do the best techniques in bjj but they have learn or get better at kicks striking wrestling and other forms for MMA. This can cause a BJJ practitioner to plateau in advance techniques because they concentrate on so much other styles they can't evolve more on one style. So the fighter has to only do the techniques that works for him and for the fight. In a sense their jujitsu slopes down a little for them but it's still great fundamentally to have to manage ground fighting and take downs. Jujitsu or just any kind of grappling art is a great arsenal to have.

When I looked it up, almost everyone in the top ten of their UFC divisions were bjj black or brown belts. To say they suck at jiujitsu is maybe a stretch. Id say its just a lot harder to use jiujitsu against someone who also knows jiujitsu, especially when the other person is able to hit you and the rounds are structured to favor striking more than grappling.
But to say "try that on Olivera" (or Khabib, or GSP, or Mighty Mouse, or whoever) is silly. Try ANYTHING on those people lol we only know who those guys are because theyre really damn good at fighting. Put it this way, is punching someone in the face an effective tactic in MMA? Yes. Go try to beat up Charles Olivera by punching him in the face. Unless youre an equal or better fighter than he is, its not going to work. That doesnt mean the punches just dont or cant work lol
Grappling is an effective method of fighting. All the techniques of BJJ are effective. That doesnt mean that just anyone can use them effectively against the best fighters in the world, they wouldnt be the best in the world if just anyone could do that to them lol thats how this works.
