  • Sick of having the engine not fire consistently on the MSFS2020 Wing24 Boeing 247D. This is how to quickly make sure it fires up every single time!
Plus, we will do a little scenic bonus flight from Orange County check out Disneyland, Dodger Stadium, and the iconic Hollywood Sign. Then land at Burbank. Microsoft Flightsimulators graphic have come a long way since the first release!

We are in 2024 and this is still perhaps the BEST plane in MSFS hands down...most people just don't know what they are buying. This plane should have sold 2M copies...it costs 20$ and it is easily worth 100$ bucks!

Thanks. Worked for me. It took me a couple of tries to get the timing down before I hit mesh, but now I can get the engines started pretty well. Now to turn off "cheat mode" and learn the rest of the tricks to keep the engines from catching fire! 😂

You’re welcome and thanks for watching! I can remember catching the engines on fire the first time and was a little shocked 🔥 🔥
Maybe I should do another video on how to not let that happen and oil burn.

Tks for this great video and it helped me start up for the first time and was hoping process would work for subsequent starts but for the life of me I can’t get it started second time around…I have unmapped any magneto, batteries etc from my Alpha yoke. I also cycled each switch/valve on and off when load plane again. Wind up flywheel and go to mesh and then nothing on each engine ! Could anyone add any thoughts on getting this thing started each time ? Many Tks JB

Check your oil on the “tablet”. You can also reset damage I believe. I haven’t flown this in a very long time.

Wonderful plane to fly. Problem I have is the manifold pressure is in the white, but I keep getting engine fires, and then they of course eventually quit. No idea what I'm doing wrong.

You know, I haven’t flown this in a very long time and I’ll jump back in it within the next few days to check it out. I remember back when I first got it I had the same issue. I don’t remember what I was doing wrong but just off the top of my head it will be cowl flaps and temps along with mixture.
      I’ll let you know.

I had the manifold pressure and RPMs too high for cruising for too long; for anyone else who may have this issue.

Followed this exactly and mesh never works. Propeller moves briefly and stops every time. Can't fly a plane you can't start, so can't recommend this to anyone.

Sorry to hear that. I’d love to help trouble shoot as I have been consistently flying it starting this way. Do you have any assists on in your settings? Make sure to have modern as your flight model. I’ve watched other videos do the same method. Some wobble pump before the first prime, then ask to crank. But I have been able to start it both ways. You have to hit the mesh button just at the right time and it fires up. Let me know if you have any questions.

    |Hmmm. Are you using realistic or easy engine starts?| In my experience when using realistic, priming has no effect and thus the engines won't start unless you use the wobble pump to get your 5psi fuel pressure prior to using the primer.

100 percent realistic and no assistance in MSFS settings with all failure types enabled. I just tried my video, your method, and no prime. It worked for me both your way and the way in my video. I think it is as long as you prime before cranking it will fire up. But definitely have realistic startup, Engine malfunctions, and Electrical failures checked on.

in case anyone else is having problems, I found my issue to be that it for some reason, it defaults me with 0 fuel on board

Have the devs gave up on this ? I haven’t seen any updates .. it needs some work still

From what I can tell in the forums it might seem that way. I just picked it up, what do you think needs work?

Smoke effect needs work. The sound could also be better. But it’s an awesome plane. Till now, it’s my favorite. We need an Antonov an2 and Focke Wulf Fw190 too :)
