This entire video is a great showcase of how far MSFS has come since it first launched. Hopefully addons like these will be portable to 2024 without too much hassle, because it will make that sim really hit the ground running.
I am hoping for the same. They are reporting that almost everything will port over.... But it still makes me nervous having over a thousand dollars easy in just in game add-ons 😬
@@vizzieizzyCompletely agree with you, I currently play on Xbox (which is an absolute disaster), however I’m hoping to buy a decent PC as of November time and I’m hoping everything transfers smoothly over! 🤞
Reminds of back when Microsoft had the combat flight sims. They were some super awesome games back in the day, they should bring it back give dcs a reason to step up.
As a big MSFS player, I can say that DCS is so much more robust as a product. MSFS works ‘perfectly’ 1/10 times for me at best. DCS loads everytime flawlessly, with incredible resource performance.
They're too busy adding "features" (paid modules") to add anything that would make the sim BETTER. Combat AI, formation AI, refueling, better radar simulation, etc etc. All things that should have been core.
Alex from Touching Cloud has been one of the most amazing gifts to the MSFS community. He's really been ahead of the curve with his thinking for what the sim has been missing. He nailed gliders with kenetic Assistant long before that was native to the sim, developed the legacy importer for users to start moving FSX aircraft into MSFS for retooling, has added countless cool VFX for developers like rotor wash, smoke, etc.. And on a more personal note, wrote our entire native Multiplayer Towing in our Discus 2C FES Glider, as well as the entire native drop able ordinance system for our F4F-Wildcat at GotFriends. Truly if there was anyone that could figure out what most devs think is impossible to implement in MSFS, its him. This addon is a whole new level of epic!
The reason the speed brakes are deployed during carrier landings is because it forces the engines to operate at a higher thrust during the approach for quicker spool up and glide slope corrections. The speed brakes close as soon as you go to full throttle. The J52s weren't exactly the quickest engines. BTW, the sounds are fairly accurate to the rw engine sounds. Pretty good for a mediocre flight sim aircraft. Also, the white stick/handle in front of the throttle was used for 3 things: it pulled up and twisted 90 degrees to lock the front strut on the cat, it was also used to hold on to when at full throttle, so the pilot doesn't pull the throttle back during launch and to also activate all the lights prior to a night launch. The launch bar was a manual affair, lowered by the catapult crew when at the cat. There was also a receptacle behind the nose wheels that took a piece of metal called the hold back fitting. This broke when the catapult reached a certain pressure, launching the aircraft down the deck.
Currently it's fair to say that most military hardcore simmers have to sit in an awkward divide between the fidelity of DCS and the visuals/"whole earth" of MSFS with neither being completely fulfilling. So it's great to see something like this showing up in MSFS to help bridge that divide, even if MSFS isn't and never will provide the systems depth that DCS does.
Impressive. Really not much more to say. The video of the landing and the interior view on launch really brings home how fast things happen in these operations.
The F-14 is a blast to refuel. Amazingly my first run with it I was already up before I realized I forgot to start my TrackIR gave it a shot anyway. I landed the cone first try and topped off which was difficult because in the F-14 if you forget IR tracking you can not see the the probe lol so my first refuel was blind and successful. Refueling is so fun and challenging I do it even when running unlimited fuel. Amazing video as always, truly beautiful.

Great as always! I was recently watching a real world aerial refuelling vid by Growler Jams and apparently going into the basket too hard can create a sine wave in the hose strong enough to break the probe off the aircraft. Serious stuff and the skill level required (especially in bad weather) really is something else.
A fantastic addition to the sim. I had great fun refueling the F-35 the other day. It's pretty hard to get it right with no depth perception. P.S. I think you just generated another sale of the A-6 for Deimos. Are the dimensions accurate? The crew looks so tiny in the cockpit.

There's a free version available for PC users however, whilst still very good, the free version offers fewer features overall (and in my opinion, the payware version is well worth the money!). I hope that clarifies things a little. All the best : )
It's audio he added on video editing. It is not in the simulator. However you can get some good banter if you're in the F-14 because your RIO always has something to say lol
@@vizzieizzycorrect, F-14 and Tornado has prerecorded messages which played randomly while fuel probe is engaged. Not accurate but still gives some immersion. Radio comms are planned for Airshow as well, but we have more important tasks to finish first.
My opinion as a MSFS and DCS pilot... I will say I will not fly a fighter jet neither for carrier operation or areal refueling or for nothing at all on MSFS it's just stupid when it come to those ... I will not fly them at all.. try it and waste my money.. I will fly airlines and small planes on vatsim but that's it when it come to fighter jets DCS rules on everything and for what I just saw DCS areal refueling its alot better and more realistic I don't care about clouds we all know DCS its awful when it come to the sky but the fighter jet on MSFS fly awful compared to DCS and the fact that you can't basically do anything at all but simple flying without even a good radar say it all..I love both sims.. but if you want a real experience with fighter jets areal refueling and carrier operation go to DCS don't waste your money on this nonsense but if you want to fly airlines planes go ahead to MSFS on Vatsim...

Hose shaking happen in this video, such issue not usually appear
It's free???? Hokie smokes
There's a free version available for PC users however, whilst still very good, the free version offers fewer features overall (and in my opinion, the payware version is well worth the money!).
I hope that clarifies things a little. All the best : )
Who’s doing all the talking in the background?
It's audio he added on video editing. It is not in the simulator. However you can get some good banter if you're in the F-14 because your RIO always has something to say lol
@@vizzieizzy thank you much yeah Rio is pretty funny sometimes.
