Love your reviews man, although I don’t really stick around for the music reccos. But dub be good to me is a phenomenal tune! I’m a ‘79 kid. This was the 1st CD in my house. Totally agree it’s still as good today as it was coming out. Great shout out.
Totaly agree with you! I have this shoe and love it. My 10k and HM PB is with this shoe. Done about 85km in my pair now. They are still holding up nice. (to be a race shoe)
@@EDDBUD I think it`s hard to say. I think they still feel pretty much the same. There is always a different feeling from race to race. But I think that`s more to about how I feel and how prepared I am rather than the shoes changing. Now I just hope ON will release the CloudTri soon. We have the Cloodboom Echo 3 for 5k 10k and HM. But we need a better softer option for the full 42km. We know Hellen Obiri won Boston in the Cloudtri.
EddBudd is the MAN in shoe reviews. Started watching a few years now and I trust your expert opinions. It’s always great to see a fellow Brit making moves here on UA-cam. Keep up the great stuff!
In Australia this is actually the same price as most of those shoes you mentioned ($380 AU). Still ridiculous but yeah... The Adidas Strung 2 is $450. That's like used car kind of money.
Costs $390 RRP here in Australia. Hmm, $330 for the Vaporfly 3! ($370 for the Alphafly 2). Only the Saucony Endorphin Elite is more expensive at their newly increased price of $400 (was $380)! Thanks for the review Edd. I'll pass on this one. Aesthetically it does look very good.
It’s a very quick shoe - ran a HM and it felt great though more ground feel than most supershoes which I don’t mind - calves were very sore the next day so I agree with you I don’t think I’d do a marathon in it
The price is the biggest draw back to this shoe and the reason I wouldn’t even consider picking this shoe up. I can’t believe it’s that much better if at all better then the vaporfly 3, adidas pro 3 , metaspeed sky plus , endorphin pro 3 all of then much cheaper some of of them you can get for £100 cheaper Plus the ONs are also not much cheaper the alphafly a or endorphin elites (both also over priced I’ve not tried the elites tho ) I think it’s one of theses shoes for ON enthusiasts only
Was able to try this on last month and really was impressed because I don't have a strong opinion of the brand, I would absolutely race in it except for the durability and price. Even though I like it, would I buy it for $290USD, when I could get another Adios Pro or PXS (now that they're on sale) for less? I dunno
EDD! You're not fooling anyone on why you like this shoe so much. Tell me I'm wrong! It's that giant logo on the shoe that looks like a toggle switch found on electric guitars. The one that controls which pickup to use because each one sounds different. How can you not like something that molds together the two greatest creations man ever made. The electric guitar and the modern day running shoe.👟+❤ 🎸+❤
Nice to see ON making a proper go at a fast shoe. It’s good that they’re upfront about longevity. The other brands absolutely avoid the subject. On the flip side, I’m finding these super shoes environmentally pretty bad when they fall apart or get punctures at 200miles. I guess if you look at them as pure racing shoes, it’s less bad but A LOT of people buy them and landfill them.
it's always interesting to see a lifestyle shoe company try hard to make real running shoes. I know On started by marketing themselves as a "running shoe", but runners who tried them showed that to be wrong. Because of their origins, they have to go all-out to make a shoe that will gain them a rep among real runners, so the shoes can exceed offerings by established companies.
This shoe’s got a bad rap. I applaud you for the effort of getting a pair for review…at least you got them for free. No one would be in their right mind to pay for the outrageous price tag.
I have worn various On shoes through the years and they are outstanding in many senses, but NEVER in the durability department. Their uppers are relatively fragile and their rubber, while sticky, wears like warm butter. For the price, you tend to expect more, but then again, On is pretty much an acquired taste.
Hmmm….so 4 marathons = 8 HM’s at least. I’m a big fan of the Cloudsurfer currently but agree the outsole durability is disappointing though mostly in just one place for me. I simply need to find a shoe repair person who can add rubber to the lateral patches an inch or so forward from the heel where I (and most people) first see wear on their soles. I find the ON uppers to be premium and durable but I’ve only had a couple of models. Nothing came close to the Cloudsurfer and I’m glad they’re pivoting from their longstanding but controversial original features.
On is one of the worse company's out there. I bought a set of the On-Running Water Proof 2 and the sole has gone flat. I can feel all of the rocks and bumps on the road. and when I ask them to fix my shoes under a warranty (4 months of ownership) they told me to kick rocks. The Olympic champion didn't wear "On" shows. Avoid these shows.... the company is trash!

@@EDDBUD no but I'm going off you review scores I think you should have lowered the scores on durability and price to 2.4 but like I said I've never tried the shoe. Anyway I enjoy your reviews. Thankyou
@@danielaliaga4800don't know about the durability, as Ed says... it's a race shoe, doesn't mean the shoe is dead and can't be used after 4 marathons, it's basically saying it's in premium condition over 4 marathons, which is a pretty good claim. We might look at that as a ridiculous claim in respect to poor longevity, whilst Kipchoge will look at it as a ridiculous claim because he only gets 1 out of his Nike's... We've nothing to compare the claim to.

As always, thanks for the review
My pleasure!
Great review Ed, regrettably my hobbit like feet aren’t fitting in these. Good to know, saves me making the effort of trying.
It’s a glove. Opposite to that primex 2 I reviewed the other day. 🤦🏻♂️👍🏼🤣

Yeah it needs some adjustment on the price
Thanks for another great review Edd! I will have to take your word on the smell right out of the box - I am too worried about sniffing the chemicals 🤢
It seems harmless enough. Says the man who sniff guitars on a regular basis.
I’d be more worried about smelling the shoes after Edd’s gone out for his long run!😮 Otherwise, yes, great review as always.

I couldn’t agree more
Might be a nice 100 meter shoe for me.
You reckon it can handle that mileage before breaking down?
Hahaha

Yeah it’s a bit too excessive. Bound to come

Only the most onest opinions from this channel.
No honest opinions. I love the shoe just too costly which is exactly what I said.
I don’t really sniff my running shoes, but I have a pair of leather Mizuuno footballs that I’ve only worn in one game and they smell incredible. 😅

It looks really pretty in an old-school way.
Sometimes that’s the best thing
It is On's best shoe I'll maybe give you that but it can't be a Vaporfly killer at that $300.00 price.

for that price and weight? maybe not. but looks like a shoe if you want to try something new😉😉😉😉
It’s a good weight for a race shoe. Perfect in fact. Lower than Adios pro 3, Hoka rocket x 2, alphafly!
If it surpasses the alphafly 2 then I think the price is ridiculous

Why would they pass you with ease in a really fast shoe? No issue for lighter runners here with this foam
