@@twelveeighteenofficial7487 For sure. She should be on every list of great rock vocalists not just female ones. These are too recent and I don't like to rank. But I love Paulina from The Warning. Saiki from Band-Maid and Yukina from Hanabie. There is so much great female rock in Japan right now. I could pick a bunch more. Hanabie is fun because the guitarists sing too and they do 4 different styles of vocals in most songs. But if you love vocals you have to hear 'The Hu'. They do Mongolian throat singing and it's awesome. Their cover of 'Sad but True' by Metallica is great. But, you know, they're not girls.

Especially on "Alone," where they're both damn near in the stratosphere for the entire chorus, & it's all straight belt. 😳
She also sings lead on their 80's ballad "These Dreams." Definitely react to their live performance of that from the aughts. She gives this improvised little nightingale trill at the end that just goes straight through the top of my head, every time.

I would love to see/hear the actual performance that the studio track was laid over in this video. From a perspective standpoint, I still flash back to my childhood every time I hear this, when this song was NEW, listening to it on the radio, laying on the living room floor, with only the lights of the radio illuminating the immediate area. God help me, but I truly miss those days.

@@brovold72 The reaction video is the officially released music video with the studio recording dubbed on top of the video from an earlier live performance. They had to put something over the studio audio and this was a damn fine performance. Probably saved dollars also. You can hear the original performance here ua-cam.com/video/sfX-BSO-Q8M/v-deo.html . The sound is rawer and the guitar solos much dirtier (and no alien attack), but Ann is still perfect. You also get to hear the adlib extra words and timing changes she makes where the official video loses sync. Given the technology of day, I'm gobsmacked they got the sync even close.

We saw Heart on tour in August of 2019 and they were not good. It was midway through their tour and they played the night before. The band was off the the singers were off tune and out of sync. I guess anyone can have a bad night but it was a real disappointment.

I always think of this family of riffs as "galloping", because they engender a strong feeling of motion and possibly hoofbeats.
The backing riff in Tears for Fears "Everybody Wants to Rule the World" is similar in that regard... they both just make you want to travel forwards to wherever.
