hey, you know your stuff. so ya, get rid of DPF, EGR, check that coolant system, change your oil 5-7k miles, change fuel filters every other oil change, put aftermarket single turbo, you are golden!
have H&S single tune, 64mm Borg single turbo designed by H&S, H&S cold air intake, replaced radiator once, egr and dpf and muffler gone. 6.0's dont whistle as good as mine, sounds like a Peterbuilt! get bout 23 hwy, 15 city, typically drive like a gramps anyway, no need to work her too hard but when i get the turbo past 20psi, watch out!
I have 250 thousand on my 08 6.4 and it runs like it did 200 thousand miles ago. love it. take care of it like you would a good woman and itll take care of you..
That's exactly right,..my 08 Supeduty is babied with oil and filters and never ever would I let the engine work hard before the oil is warm and ready to fully lubricate. A DPF delete is a must and the right tuner will make it work without problems !
Gracias amigo acabas de salvarme de un dolor de cabeza estaba queriendo comprar una King rach 3500 6.4 super duty y aqui en Honduras no hay la mano de obra adecuada para esos trucks. a verlos como un sueño nada mas.
I have a 2008 6.4 and I have 432,627 exact miles and not a damn problem meanwhile while my 6.7 2016 messed up many times I’ve at least spent 10,000 just trying to fix it
I purchased a 2010 lariat 4x4 cclb 6.4 with 120k miles with a blown up engine (threw a rod due to lack of oil). Bought it for cheap. I built a motor for it, its been running STRONG for me (no emissions).
I just bought a 08 f350 with a 6.4 and I just spend hell of money replacing everything( oil cooler, rocker arm, lifters, head machined and fire rings, etc) just if I take good care of it it’s gonna last
The 6.4L was the worst Powerstroke I've ever owned. It spent 9 months in the shop during the first 14k miles. High pressure pump issues, coolant leaks, root cover replacement due to cavitation, head gasket issues, 2 injectors and a #8 rod. I sold it at 100k after the warrant was up. Most of all, horrible fuel, economy. It seemed as it was constantly in regen. I absolutely love my 2015 and 2017 6.7l trucks.
Same here Kelton. No real Issues to speak of accept a issue with the shifter going out of Park into Drive not working unless I go inside the steering column and pull a little wheel to the left so it will come out of park. It sucks
Ditto. 170k no problem. Although I invest greatly in preventative maintenance on all engines. What I do not invest in is people who make videos who can barely articulate.
Hey brother good video. My father in law had a 08 6.4 CCLB. Has about 90k and just did a DPF Delete on his truck because the DPF was clogged and going into regin all the time. His truck now with the delete gets 5 MPG more and more responsive. No issues since then.
267,000 on a deleted 6.4 and still running like a champ.i bought truck with 120,000 miles.and have changed starter and alternator since.i take damn good care of it maintenance wise.so i coudnt tell you what to look out for or not to look out for.
Great video. I was thinking of doing an even trade with my 2010 BMW M3 with 65,000 miles for a 2008 F450 4x4 4 door dually 6.4 with 158,000. Truck is super clean and has 22.5 tires and rims and looks super sharp. Ive known about some issues with the 6.4 but after watching this video I'm no longer interested in trading!
Yeah i bought a used f250 2010 diesel with like 120k miles on it and when it worked it was a good truck, thing was able to handle a few flash floods and heavy tow loads with no issues but about a year in the thing was having a TON of issues, and keep in mind i keep up on maintenance. Spent 1k just to replace a failed egr valve because I live in Cali. Honestly go with a 6.7 because honestly you can prevent the 6.4's issues but it's not cheap and realistically you shouldn't have to spend thousands more just to make sure your truck doesn't take a dump, so i think you made a good decision personally. Go with a 6.7 not one with the 6.4 engine. I like Ford personally, just my preference, so i traded it in and got a 2019 ranger, which im loving so far.
I have a 08 f350 dpf deleted 6.4 and I love it I have no issues at 235,000 but he is right you gotta do some work to bulletproof them just like you did with the 6.0
Yes I have one too $350 6.4 motor and Diesel powerstroke love it never had any problems yet I've had about a year probably put around 8,000 miles on it when I got it he said the motor has been redone which I got the paperwork on so I know that's true and I got no problem and he's a people probably 10,000 before I got it so that's 18,000 so far and the motor is running good real strong I know issues you look so far but you both and socks reason for they had a lift kit on it they put it down standard height and the evolves a little loose so I have to change those out shops need new shocks I put new tires on them other than I ain't had no problems at all I love it that's just no more update you got to do that
I just bought a 08 250 with the 6.4L 116k. Bought from the estate of an old man. Have maintenance records. One issue with egr sensor 20k miles ago. Besides that common maintenance. Do you think this may be one?
iv been a mechanic for 35 years and I rarely see 6.4s. I Like every ford engine besides the 6.4 there is a reason they were only msde for 2 years. The 6.0 after bulletproffed that's the only amount of money your gonna spend into the engine besides maintnence. The 6.0 once bulletproofed is as reliable as a 7.3 and the 6.7. So the only ford engine I don't like is the 6.4 otherwise the 6.0 7.3 and 6.7 Is an amazing engines
Question...I just bought a 6.4 used 2010 f350.... I love the truck but I didn’t know to much about the history.... now they are saying I have a #6 piston problem and I need a delete..... should I keep this a get it fix or start all over.? I also was told it will be best if I just get a new motor or get it rebuilt....& I know that cost!
Saw a 08 F350 6.4 around 90k miles. It’s completely stock and wants around $15,000 for it. Is it a good deal?? He bought it brand new and had it since then
I'm so nervous about to drop six or seven Grand on a 2008 with 222000 miles on it 6.4..... But if the truck has been EGR and everything's been deleted it should be good right...🤔this is going to be my first diesel truck
I've never owned a diesel, actually looking at purchasing a 08' f-550 with the 6.4.....owners says engine needs replaced...is this a handy task to do? Will a new engine be prepared to overcome some of the issues you are referring to? Or will someone have to invest in these changes separately? Btw...nice setup with the 4wheeler and phantom drone....I use the same setup but no diesel pickup, gas!!
I’m looking at buying a 2010 6.4 with 215k on it. The egr has been deleted and dpf is too. Not sure when it was deleted. Looks like it’s been well maintained however what should I look for on the test drive and inspection?
I have deleted everything fuxx the warranty I have 215K on mine thinking of doing the rocker arms and injectors this weekend possibly the oil cooler next weekend if it comes in
Great info. That 6.7 is bad ass. Getting down to the country today and going to do my first try at GoPro Karma. Can't do where i live, which sucks. Too bad it takes so long to get back home and back. Glad your able to get videos out still.
I have a 6.4 ,deleted it at 60,000 miles because it would not pull itself down the road . Last Summer I had a dumbass moment and was showing off how much power it has and blew the head gasket . 7200 $ later its running strong . Arp head studs egr delete 8 new rocker arm assemblies and anything else that looked suspect while they had it tore apart . I ran Dodge trucks for a long time you can't beat a Cummins motor but I never had any luck keeping a transmission together behind one and I think they're very uncomfortable trucks . I wish I could get a Ford truck with a Cummins motor and an Allison Transmission but don't we all
I bought a H@S mini max programer And those are capable of turning off the dpf and egr systems . No more regen cycles . When you do that you have to remove the DPF filter and replace it with a 4" straight pipe . On the 6.4 the Programmer turns off the EGR . But it is best to remove the cooler and buy and install the the egr block of kit from sinister diesel . And of course none of this is legal So you better have a buddy that does inspections if inspections are required in your state . If you do all this I highly recommend running a stock muffler or something that looks fairly stock so if you get pulled over by a state rod he doesn't go snooping up under your truck and catch you.
When it’s 14 years old you can’t go up hills and when you do the gasket blows off the hose. My dad had to trade his in about a week ago for a brand new truck.
great video proud 6.0l owner great truck with upgrades 6.4 good motor if u have ford warranty if u dont have warranty would just be stupid too fork out 12 grand at time for repairs what normal family guy can afford that shit
My EMS agency acquired a vehicle grant back in 09 and it basically allowed us to purchase three new ambulances, my director went with Ford, big mistake on her end. The Ford, FordFleet manager got my agency into two new type 1, F350 DRWs with the 6.4psd's and one type 1 F650 SuperDuty with a CAT 7.2L C7, for the Fire/EMS guys. well while on a call one of our 6.4s shit the bed on us, I was a new medic at the time and I remember the senior medic was cussing up a storm cause he was driving, i was thinking this guys nuts for going slow in the middle of a busy 4 lane hwy, come to find out the engine lost 50% of its power. a AMR ambulance from another jurisdiction was behind us but they were not transporting so they let me and the PT hitch a ride to the ED. Afterwards the rig went into maintenance and I'm no mechanic but the Ford Tech literally said "this truck is fucked!" hahaha . the rig was at around 24,000 on the ODO still new it was pulled from service, maintenance wise it was serviced at the local ford dealership, on a regular basis when it supposed to. Not so long after the other rig started to have the same issue. ford replaced them under warranty with new ones but we eventually sold them after they stared to act up. We ended up getting a 010 Dodge 4500 ambulance and a 010 Chevy 3500 ambulance both of which ran strong till 2015 when we replaced them.
U all have just scared the shit out of me...I bought a used 2009 F250 6.4 and it has 120,000 it seems to run awesome but now I feel I just made the biggest mistake of my life...my first diesel and don't have funds to replace motor..financed truck...loved this truck till I got UA-cam and started looking around
Dave..me too..Its a ton of 6.4 King ranches for sale and cheap..I guess this is the reason why...Like most...I dont have $18,000.00 for the trk and then gotta put $12,000.00 more in it for a new motor or bullet proof.......I have a '94 F-150 w/ the I-6...Runs like a champ...But, want something bigger.....A King Ranch , fancy interior selling for 15,000-$ 18,000.00 on Auto Trader.....Thats cheap compared to plain jane interior on the new ones and a $60-70,000.00 + price tag..........Dont even think about getting a Chevy or Dodge in the year and that price...Best you can do is a 20 yrs old Doge/Chevy for $18,000.00.....and it looks like shit to boot.....
Honestly, theirs alot of relayed information here from other peoples issues. Deletes, tune and maintenance go a long way. The fuel system is actually most prone to issues after emissions being deleted. Change filters regularly... if it makes you feel any better i worked for a company that bought all 6.7s. Not one lasted past 70,000 without being rebuilt. Emissions regulations are killing all diesels across the board.
I am looking at a Ford E350 shuttle bus that needs a new motor (double axel length) since this is what it had what would I want to put in it w/o the issues you speak of?
At 127k, cracked number 8 piston shortly after I sold it to someone else. I noticed a very slight tick at idle but thought it was fine. Sold it because I didn't drive it much and blew up on the new owner within a 1000 miles.
Have you found, in your research of the 6.4, specific components that fail? I found a powerstroke website that says the following features are problematic. The fuel added in the back cylinders was a cost-saving design instead of adding another injector (downstream of the turbo). The fuel in the cylinder was added during the exhaust stroke, allowing raw fuel into the rear cylinders and further, allowed more carbon buildup in the turbo, more heat in the rear cylinders which in turn was worsened when a cooling system leak allowed for an air pocket by the rear cylinders... and so forth. The 2011 6.7 fuel system added the 9th injector, as has the Duramax and most heavy truck diesel engines. The 6.0 and the 6.4 have weakness in the valve train. The valve stems ride directly in the cast iron of the head, instead of a brass or bronze bushing. That allowed for less lubrication for the valve stem. I am aware of problems with the rocker arms, but I don't know the specific points of failure, or the workaround to correct that in a "dealer proof" repair. Lastly, the lifter is the same part as was originally designed for the 5.7 Oldsmobile non-turbo diesel, and with the rocker-arm weakness is an underrated piece; notice the better lifter supplied with the Ford-designed 6.7. Up until the Ford-designed 6.7, the powerstrokes were Navistar engines. They still supply V8's and a 4.5 V6 based on the 6.0, and I heard the 4.5 fails quickly, probably due to the same design flaws of the aforementioned 6.4 V8. They are a good source of compound turbos for your project vehicles. The conclusion reached by powerstrokehelp was, if you own a 6.4 truck, and its so nice you have to keep it, replace the entire engine with a Ford-guaranteed unit, add an air and water separating lift pump, bypass lines to the fuel and cooling systems (to prevent air pockets) a coolant filter, a welded EGR cooler, and don't cheap out on the fuel. Deleting the DPF system and re-tune the FICM computer will also help with the rear cylinders and fuel in the oil pan.
08 f350 lariat 165k Stock Always diesel #1 No problems except just took it in for rear diff shot towed skidssteers and my toys around in Minnesota weather. 6.4 was way better than my 17 6.7. Sold it and bought a 90 454SS and 65 SS for the price of the too many gadgets price. Sorry but the 6.4 pulled way easier
just took my 6.4 in for head gaskets. fully deleted. has 260,000 km, so far replaced a leaky rad, starter and batteries. now I did toast the trans at 200k with a 300 hp innovative tune.
The EGR and DPF are the issues with the 6.4. It is unfair to blame a damn good engine for the 300+ pounds of ugly fat the EPA forced on it. Get rid of that obozo era mandated bullshit and it's an amazing engine. Not really too sure in this millennial age why people just can't be bothered to perform maintenance on their vehicles...too many iPhone users I guess. Top off and change the fluids, change the filters and replace worn out parts. It's not rocket surgery. Oh yes...almost forgot...don't be one of these douche canoes that chain trucks together. It proves nothing other than their stupidity. You want to break something on any brand of truck...that's how to do it.
It is an incredibly poorly designed. It only has 4 bolts per cylinder and way too many o-rings that are guaranteed to fail. Our local school bus company replaced all their power strokes with Cummins engines.
7.3 was bullet proof, after 2004 the 6.0 was decent, the 6.4 was a problem child and the 6.7 is a very reliable and powerful motor. Anyone will love a 6.7 and it will take quite a bit of abuse.
You'll get all the info you need on the powerstroke Facebook pages. Get a powerstroke, upgrade the turbo, delete it and take care of the fuel system and you'll be happy for years. Thanks for watching!
Well I have F Ford 350 with a 6.4 in it I have plenty of power had no issues no problems I've had about a year now for about 5,000 miles on it absolutely no problems with it no problem I had is my name took the lift kit off of it they didn't get new u-bolts for it and change those out they're a little bit loose a little bit but other than that what they did was only had the truck they took all that extra computer completion stuff off okay which gave the truck a lot more power went straight pipe would they flowmaster muffler at the end of the pot that's has a 4-in pot plenty of cool noise love it
Just replace engine oil every 5k with Rotella T6, add Archoil and cetane booster to fuel, upgrade all radiator hoses and themostat, replace cab isolators to aftermarket, install bulletproof egr coolers and external cooler, coolant filtration system, get DPF cleaned and coolant replaced every 30k, replace fuel and air filter with original parts every 15k and you'll be fine.
just get rid of the EGR coolers and DPF, and add a tuner. I have a 2010 and I spent thousands fixing radiators, rocker arms and bridges. The truck has 110,500 miles on it and on the third radiator.
Do your pistons still take a punch on Regen? That would be my biggest concern with engine longevity on any diesel with the egr system.. it seems deleting it is the only sure way to avoid taking some kind of cylinder hit..
If you have enough money, you can add reliable parts to it as you said lol. The motor isn’t good factory sadly. That’s the thing about the 6.4 and 6.0. They won’t last a long time without aftermarket parts. The 5.4 2v and 3v are both known for engine. Noises and the 2v 5.4 blew plugs out and the 3v 5.4 you can’t get em out. But if they are maintained correctly then they’ll last a very long time. The 5.4 4v is by far the best one but the 5.4 3v is better than the 2v due to that if you change plugs every 30k miles and change oil every 5k in a 5.4 3v then it’ll last forever. Same for a 5.4 2v except plugs are easier to get out but eventually weather you change plugs or not the plug threads with break but it’ll still last 250k miles or so if maintained
I know what you are saying about the 6.4 it is a strong motor if you keep up on it .but it is shit to work on. Leak o ring ,and you better have money to work on it .
Hey guys, just need some help figuring this out. I found a 6.4 I like but it has 250k miles. All stock. Guy just replaced all water pump replaced, drained and refilled on coolant, both fuel filters replaced and fuel water separator bowl took apart cleaned, and reinstalled. Seems to have no rust except on the exhaust pipe. Southern truck. Great price too. This would be my first diesel in a truck. Any opinions?
You can fix all the problems this is how......Don’t buy a Ford! Doesn’t matter how well you take care of them they are going to fuck up. My neighbor has the 6.4 and he’s a old school diesel mechanic and regrets buying the powerstroke. He had to do over $4000 to the motor at only 75,000 miles and he did most of the work himself! He dosnt dog the truck matter of fact he’s very particular. It’s parked in a garage, he keeps it’s clean, and uses it to pull a small bumper pull camper. The man had to overhaul the motor at 75,000 miles come on!!! Get a Cummins or a duramax stay the hell away from any powerstroke.
take care of her and she takes care of you. i watch all these stupid vids on youtube where people stand on gas and brake and then bitch when the engine blows. wtf...
@@kreuzrittergottes9336 agreed most 6.4 I have heard blowing up is from heavy tuning and dumbasses driving them like sports cars if you want to drive like that get a sports car not a freaking truck that was only designed for hauling and long freeway trips 🙄
I am sorry, probably dumb question, but we are looking to buy a 2008 Ford F-350 Super Duty Lariat Lariat 4dr Crew Cab. Are the issues you are talking about for a diesel one as well? or just a gas truck? thank you!
Lizzy Luzania not a dumb question, the diesel motor is the 6.4, meaning these issues are specifically involving the diesel motor. If the truck still has a diesel particulate filter on the exhaust, walk away, don't even consider it. The gas motor, the 5.4, has its own problems but are much more reliable
Lizzy Luzania the DPF on these trucks clean the soot out of the exhaust so you don't see any black smoke. This was the first year for it on this truck. They make the motor self-destruct within 100 to 200 thousand miles. If you have very deep pockets and won't mind rebuilding the motor in a year or so, then sure. These trucks are known to self destruct and when they do it costs about $15,000 to fix. Everything in the video applies to this truck, find a nice 2011 or newer and you will have a great truck for many years
Here’s what I’ll say about the 6.4. If you can find someone who did the absolute proper upmost care of their 6.4 then you may get lucky and when I mean up most, I mean like amazing care. They deleted it. They put the right tune on. They change the filters religiously. They change the oil religiously. They make huge power and make decent mileage if they’re deleted. Chances are, those people are rare and those trucks are few and far between. If you buy a used 6.4, have the money set aside. Deleting will cost a good few grand. That fuel pump will run about 6,000 bucks. That radiator sucks. Costs a grand or so extra as well. If you can put the money to it, the 6.4 will be one of the better trucks out there but it takes a whole lotta time and costs big money. Shoot, I’d own a 6.4 any day if I had the money but sense I don’t want to pay an extra 10 grand on a 15 grand truck just to not leave me on the side of the road at this point, I’ll stick with my Cummins for now.
Just installed my longbock after a long while of saving. Go with the complete longblock available from Ford. Pricey yes, but complete oilpan to turbo and has unlimited mileage warranty
I like how everything you said comes right out of a diesel power magazine 😂 and you drove a 6.4. have you tore one down before? Lol I've put over 400,000 on mine. Let me know when you learn something. Terrible video.
Just bought a 6.4 after my 4.6 f150, love the engine, but i only know how to work on gasser engines. I’d appreciate any tips. Deletes, tunes, engine bulletproofing?
Just got got f250 6.4. 158k in emasculate shape for 13k. Will be having my mechanic go through it in its entirety soon just to be safe but the old girl I was driving was just falling to pieces. Literally.
Fords never been good at building diesel engines...the best engine they had was the 7.3 from international. And now with all the emissions, they are really screwing up. I personally own a 06 3500 cummins, which are excellent engines, no emissions and plenty of power, of course, they've been around since 1919, so you'd think cummins knows what they are doing. Ford has nice trucks, but I'd prefer a cummins in one if I had to own one; )
I know this is a old video but I will.ask a question any way I have a man that works for me he has a 08 f250 with the 6.4 well his truck. Shakes really bad sounds rough as hell has alot of white smoke Ballance rates of injector 7 and 8 is +19 we put a known good Ballance injector in number 8 and it read +16 made no difference he don't have water or fuel in his oil but he is loosing oil with no leaks about 2 or 3 quarts every 400 miles or so haven't done a compression test was yesterday but didn't oh and lots of blow by I have a Duramax so I ant sure about the Ford problems so if anyone on here can help it would be greatly appreciated
White smoke means to me that at least one of the injectors is gone and dumping fuel into the motor. losing oil and blow-by could also be from bad rings or a cracked piston. But blow by doesn't always mean the motor is gone. The turbos could also be worn out and burning oil.
Hello y’all. I have a 2008 f550 6.4. This is my question. Is it normal that when I hit 70, 75, 80 or more that the rpm doesn’t drop from 3000?? I understand it has 5 gears, but to me it seems that the rpms should drop once I hit that speed. What do you guys think?? Thank you guys, God bless!
Definitely something is up, sounds like your locked out of 5th gear, could be a fault on the tow haul mode. My 6.4 has 4.30 gears and it cruises at 2500 rpm at 70, maybe your f550 is geared alot lower but I doubt it would be that high, do you know what rear end ratio your truck has?
hey, you know your stuff. so ya, get rid of DPF, EGR, check that coolant system, change your oil 5-7k miles, change fuel filters every other oil change, put aftermarket single turbo, you are golden!
have H&S single tune, 64mm Borg single turbo designed by H&S, H&S cold air intake, replaced radiator once, egr and dpf and muffler gone. 6.0's dont whistle as good as mine, sounds like a Peterbuilt! get bout 23 hwy, 15 city, typically drive like a gramps anyway, no need to work her too hard but when i get the turbo past 20psi, watch out!
What's the benefit of going to a single turbo on a 6.4? Mine is deleted & tuned just figuring out what else to do!
NBF1865 one less turbo to send to the wreckers when it blows
Invest 20,000 in a 2,000 dollar truck. Buy a Tundra. Bulletproof.
Thomas Carpino lmao he said buy a tundra 😂😂😂😂😂😂
I have 250 thousand on my 08 6.4 and it runs like it did 200 thousand miles ago. love it. take care of it like you would a good woman and itll take care of you..
Donny Sanders what’s a good woman now days 🤔
That's exactly right,..my 08 Supeduty is babied with oil and filters and never ever would I let the engine work hard before the oil is warm and ready to fully lubricate. A DPF delete is a must and the right tuner will make it work without problems !
Christoffer Lunoe what tuner do you use?
Christoffer Lunoe What Tuner?
Likely just got a rare good one.
Pros: they look/sound good
Cons: literally everything else.
Gracias amigo acabas de salvarme de un dolor de cabeza estaba queriendo comprar una King rach 3500 6.4 super duty y aqui en Honduras no hay la mano de obra adecuada para esos trucks. a verlos como un sueño nada mas.

Gererado Sanchez what kind of maintenance/precautions do you suggest?
Thanks!
I purchased a 2010 lariat 4x4 cclb 6.4 with 120k miles with a blown up engine (threw a rod due to lack of oil). Bought it for cheap. I built a motor for it, its been running STRONG for me (no emissions).
I am in a very similar situation. 2008 truck with 130kmiles. you said bought cheap. i dont know what to offer this guy? can you help?
BIGDAVE53
Except, the 6.0 is a less problematic engine because the parts. And the 7.3 are very reliable and it's very comfortable including the 6.7 too.
6.4 owner here...170000 miles no problem. The key is preventative maintenance.
170k aint shit for a diesel....get back to us when it has 370k
The 6.4 Is my favorite diesel
Same here Kelton. No real
Issues to speak of accept a issue with the shifter going out of Park into Drive not working unless I go inside the steering column and pull a little wheel to the left so it will come out of park. It sucks
I'm sitting at 210,000 without any issues, completely stock. I'll get back with you in another 50,000. Good or bad....we'll find out. Lol
Ditto. 170k no problem. Although I invest greatly in preventative maintenance on all engines. What I do not invest in is people who make videos who can barely articulate.
I'd keep that 4 wheeler back there so you don't have to walk home.
Chris good one powerstroke dare truly garbage and duramax will always rule over any other vehicle
@@gamerbeastboy1842 until you break a tie rod and ball joint
Way better than having to rebuild a blown motor
Jack Davis lol i proactively studded mine. No issues. Thing is dmax killer.
Wait kyell Randall you have a 6.4?
Crazy I never had these problems.
The production value of your video is very good.
I love my 6.4, SUPER DUTY, and I've had em all. Best truck, and motor after you fix common problems with it....its a given
What was your common problem
Hey brother good video. My father in law had a 08 6.4 CCLB. Has about 90k and just did a DPF Delete on his truck because the DPF was clogged and going into regin all the time. His truck now with the delete gets 5 MPG more and more responsive. No issues since then.

No new rocker arms yet???? Im sure they are smashed flat!!!!!
how do you pass smog with the delete? Don't they do a visual inspection?

Thanks for the video
Great video. I was thinking of doing an even trade with my 2010 BMW M3 with 65,000 miles for a 2008 F450 4x4
4 door dually 6.4 with 158,000.
@@Invader501st I would only recommend the 7.3 or a bulletproofed level 3 6.0 by Bulletproof Diesel.
I have a 08 f350 dpf deleted 6.4 and I love it I have no issues at 235,000 but he is right you gotta do some work to bulletproof them just like you did with the 6.0
Yes I have one too $350 6.4 motor and Diesel powerstroke love it never had any problems yet I've had about a year probably put around 8,000 miles on it when I got it he said the motor has been redone which I got the paperwork on so I know that's true and I got no problem and he's a people probably 10,000 before I got it so that's 18,000 so far and the motor is running good real strong I know issues you look so far but you both and socks reason for they had a lift kit on it they put it down standard height and the evolves a little loose so I have to change those out shops need new shocks I put new tires on them other than I ain't had no problems at all I love it that's just no more update you got to do that
Looks like your in Alaska! Me too! Wasilla
I work on these Powersrokes alot! Love your vids and music selection!!!!!
So..buy a 6.4 or not? I'm looking at a 2013. 90,000mi.
There are some people that got the complete gold 6.4 that never had problems amd some wouldnt make it 5000 miles and it was done just depends
I was 1 of the lucky ones. 08 reg cab 6.4 f250 manual tranny 4x4 195k all stock
He bought it brand new and had it since then
Ya, I have a 16' ford 6.7 and love it. the 6.4 is an emission time bomb.
I'm so nervous about to drop six or seven Grand on a 2008 with 222000 miles on it 6.4..... But if the truck has been EGR and everything's been deleted it should be good right...🤔this is going to be my first diesel truck
Dont.....buy a 7.3
Don’t you wonder why you are paying ten or fifteen thousand less than comparable year trucks from other manufacturers?
270k on mine bone stock and abused every chance I get so I can get a new one but it just keeps going for some reason
ini922 The Best😂🤣😂😂By far
May just saved me 20k. Thanks
Hey thanks, get lots of practice with the karma!
I had a 6.4 at the shop with 30,000 MILES! with bad lifters.
I wish I could get a Ford truck with a Cummins motor and an Allison Transmission but don't we all
Tony Limbaugh what do you mean Deleted it??
He did a turbo delete and made the 6.4 naturally aspirated like the old 6.9 and 7.3 ltre non turbo idi diesels that were first put in ford trucks.
CSXtrackworker. Eh. Ok? Lol sorry I'm new to the diesel world. Gettin mine next week

Hey KPD... very informational and nice drone clips...can you make such a Video for the 6.7? Greets from Germany
Hubraum statt Wohnraum Not sure when but I will. Thanks!
I think you can tune the 6.4 up to 650hp...not into the 1000s...650 is more than double power stock air stock fuel
Let’s talk aboot the 6.4😂😂😂
U all have just scared the shit out of me...I bought a used 2009 F250 6.4 and it has 120,000 it seems to run awesome but now I feel I just made the biggest mistake of my life...my first diesel and don't have funds to replace motor..financed truck...loved this truck till I got UA-cam and started looking around
is not a bad engine, try to bulletproof it and it will last you for another 400 k miles
How's it going with the truck? I'm looking at buying an 08' 6.4 F250 and I'm having second thoughts as well.. any problems with yours?
I just bought a 2008 now I'm scared low miles and financed owe bank $ 26.000 I'm getting my oil changed right away. And pay to get it bullet proofed.
I enjoyed hearing another opinion on the 6.4. I do wonder though on what's your opinion on a fully built 6.4 with a built trans
Joshua video of that coming up.
“Did a whole lot of research to figure out what Ford diesel is the best” and you chose the 6.4😭
He has a 6.7
7.3 is the best. Hands down!!!!
So far, I have bought TWO motors for my 2009 Super duty. Sorry I bought a Ford.
I'd say that was a dick move
Damm. You are in the wilderness. You should set a few Trap Lines along those roads !
The conclusion reached by powerstrokehelp was, if you own a 6.4 truck, and its so nice you have to keep it, replace the entire engine with a Ford-guaranteed unit, add an air and water separating lift pump, bypass lines to the fuel and cooling systems (to prevent air pockets) a coolant filter, a welded EGR cooler, and
don't cheap out on the fuel.
Deleting the DPF system and re-tune the FICM computer will also help with the rear cylinders and fuel in the oil pan.

Haha I tried... oops
I'm doing ok this cold day in New Mexico
How about the 6.7L?
It is an incredibly poorly designed. It only has 4 bolts per cylinder and way too many o-rings that are guaranteed to fail. Our local school bus company replaced all their power strokes with Cummins engines.
Dude I'm so bummed. I was on the edge of a restricted zone for the navy base. Karma wouldn't fly. Jezzzzzz. Have to find another place next weekend.
Was this a concert of some sort!
Doin great!! Just subscribed!! So you dont think a 2010 f250 quad is worth at least fifteen hundred?
What happened to your 6.4?
I heard before that the 6.4 is a problem but is your 6.7 better?
I'm asking because i thought the 7.3 is only good motor from Ford.
7.3 was bullet proof, after 2004 the 6.0 was decent, the 6.4 was a problem child and the 6.7 is a very reliable and powerful motor. Anyone will love a 6.7 and it will take quite a bit of abuse.
Hmm thank for quick answering, i think i should put the 6.7 on my list.
But first i have to ask were i can get parts :)
You'll get all the info you need on the powerstroke Facebook pages. Get a powerstroke, upgrade the turbo, delete it and take care of the fuel system and you'll be happy for years. Thanks for watching!
Well I have F Ford 350 with a 6.4 in it I have plenty of power had no issues no problems I've had about a year now for about 5,000 miles on it absolutely no problems with it no problem I had is my name took the lift kit off of it they didn't get new u-bolts for it and change those out they're a little bit loose a little bit but other than that what they did was only had the truck they took all that extra computer completion stuff off okay which gave the truck a lot more power went straight pipe would they flowmaster muffler at the end of the pot that's has a 4-in pot plenty of cool noise love it
Can you make a video on how you started hauling? Seriously interested in doing so. Have the truck to start off. Pm me if you have the time!
Oh and they put ceramic bearings in the turbo, and when those things go it fills your pistons and boom
Your thinking of the turbo on a 6.7 not the 6.4
NBF1865 yes and only the early models, they fixed that problem
good thing there is an intercooler to stop it
Just replace engine oil every 5k with Rotella T6, add Archoil and cetane booster to fuel, upgrade all radiator hoses and themostat, replace cab isolators to aftermarket, install bulletproof egr coolers and external cooler, coolant filtration system, get DPF cleaned and coolant replaced every 30k, replace fuel and air filter with original parts every 15k and you'll be fine.
just get rid of the EGR coolers and DPF, and add a tuner. I have a 2010 and I spent thousands fixing radiators, rocker arms and bridges. The truck has 110,500 miles on it and on the third radiator.
In other words, be a mechanic or visit your truck at the shop?
Do your pistons still take a punch on Regen? That would be my biggest concern with engine longevity on any diesel with the egr system.. it seems deleting it is the only sure way to avoid taking some kind of cylinder hit..
@@johndo4638 exactly. Dpf removal with a tuner to stop it from regen.
7.3 is the best. Have had a few 7.3s in the family with no issues.
International engine 7.3 is the different 👌
Mate with how shit you treat your vicheles and how much abuse you give them I can't Blame the Vehicle's for having problems.
great vid and what is the tune at the vid's intro?
I know what you are saying about the 6.4 it is a strong motor if you keep up on it .but it is shit to work on. Leak o ring ,and you better have money to work on it .
The 6.4 maybe unreliable but it has the best idle imo out of a 7.3t 6.0, 6.7 or 7.3idi.
A single turbo 6.4 yeah. Stock 6.4 turbos sound like a hairdryer😂
That's what Bill Hewett said only 7.3, 6.0, and 6.7 Powerstroke.

Brandon Fedor no. It's a sequential.
Your both right. Its a sequential compound.
It’s not ford. It’s an international motor
Let me ask i was driving on hyw and just turned off can someone held me out
Alternator
6.4 is garbage makes a 6.0 look like a 7.3 you shouldn't have to treat a truck like it's made of gold and always be hoping it doesn't blow.
take care of her and she takes care of you. i watch all these stupid vids on youtube where people stand on gas and brake and then bitch when the engine blows.
The gas motor, the 5.4, has its own problems but are much more reliable
www.lensautobrokerage.com/vehicle-details/2008-ford-f-350-super-duty-lariat-lariat-4dr-crew-cab-truck-d97026a1d2a01d4fb2428f2eb01a4ff0
I have no idea what that means, but this is the truck, I added the link to the comment
Everything in the video applies to this truck, find a nice 2011 or newer and you will have a great truck for many years
thank you so much!!! I will show this info to my husband
Tire shake? Good Years are great.
7.3,6.4,6.7 are the best motors and of course they’re expensive to fix it’s a diesel.
The 6.4 and early 6.7 is junk.
How u figure

hay buddy are you in Alaska
Quanta services ?
I just bought a 2008 f350 6.4 wish me luck
Gabriel Colio Jr. Good luck
Let's get an update! How's ownership?
190,000 mine went. Saving up for a long block 🤦🏼♂️
Just installed my longbock after a long while of saving. Go with the complete longblock available from Ford. Pricey yes, but complete oilpan to turbo and has unlimited mileage warranty
Looked liked that shook your gizzards out boy!dam!
I like how everything you said comes right out of a diesel power magazine 😂 and you drove a 6.4. have you tore one down before? Lol I've put over 400,000 on mine. Let me know when you learn something. Terrible video.
I like fords and im looking at a f250 with 6.4 112,000 miles for 17 grand flat bed truck looks brand new should i trust it
Just bought a 6.4 after my 4.6 f150, love the engine, but i only know how to work on gasser engines. I’d appreciate any tips. Deletes, tunes, engine bulletproofing?
Just got got f250 6.4. 158k in emasculate shape for 13k. Will be having my mechanic go through it in its entirety soon just to be safe but the old girl I was driving was just falling to pieces. Literally.
@@zebrazxx have you shopped diesel trucks lately??
@@READY2ROLLU not to mention that’s actually cheaper than any Cummins or other Powerstroke engines lol 😂 probably most of the Duramaxes too.
