- We first spotted David Mazzei's 4 rotor turbo RX-7 at SEMA last year during our 1 hour special, and... well actually that's a lie. We saw it on the Internet first. BUT then we saw it in real life, and absolutely knew that a Burnyard session was in store. And you'd think that just having four rotors and a big 'ol turbo hanging off of them would be enough to get some insane sounds, but no - David went the extra mile to make sure this thing sounds as close to a 787B as possible. And whatever magic that David threw at this thing, it works... and it works well.

Foreal. I never understood rotaries until I saw them racing Daytona 24hr and they were %50 louder and better sounding than anything else on the track and were winning too.

zomb1ek111er21 I’m a Rotary fan but 787B are not that fast instead in fact they are around 10-12s off in qualifying vs the top guys.
They won LeMans but not overall WSC. Jaguar, Porsche and Sauber-Mercedes are miles ahead faster. They won’t LeMans because the others had some reliability issues with their cars. Yeah you read it right, reliability issues.
That’s pretty impressive considering how terrible people think of Rotary engine when it comes to reliability.

@Adam O He hired a racing driver to understand his car's true potential and weaknesses, it was one of the smartest things he did in his Build. You can build the fastest car in the world but if it is not properly tested by pros it will drive like shit. According to what you say we are all capable of driving a 1000hp car on the track.

It's not as bad as you perceive. I buy my oil in bulk once a year for my Rx8. I am curious to know the size of his oil pan. He definitely is premixing too.

Such an awesome car:) The FD has aged well, the body shape, even without a wide body is still one of our favorite JDM bodies of all time.

Proud to call David Mazzei a personal friend. I remember him taking delivery of the 4 rotor engine and all of the guys flocked to his garage to help and check everything out. David’s a great dude with a ton of knowledge and I hope his builds start attracting more attention

Had this playing on my car stereo cranked up ready to jam on my way home, saw this and said gotta see this sheet and it scared the F outta me with the first few seconds......in my defense it was pitch black out minus headlights and stereo LESs so to hear what sounds like a pissed off F1 with a banshee driving it hit the speakers....yea anyone might get a little jumpy

I'm generally not for heavy tunes because you cant use them daily but this is a compromise I would happily make. What I really like is the clean "stock" look and the passion and knowledge this guy has. Wow.

RX 7s are the sweetest looking hot rods, and the rotary engines are absolutely amazing.
It just blows me away how simple those engines are, and how much power they can produce.
And that sound........ BOINGGGGG.
I saw this car at import alliance in ATL this year and got a ride along its insanely loud at idle and ripping through the gears glad to see them getting it dialed in..

the mazda 787B is one of my favorite cars of all time! don't know much about rotory motors but from what I've been told a 3 rotor is more difficult to tune than a 2, so am i to assume the a 4 rotor is just a pain in the ass?
