So glad to see the respect for Cloak of Pockets. Another youtuber's item tier list put it in C tier, despite the fact that over half of his S tier was small items.
We play a home-rule that extends the meaning of only being able to carry one instance of a given item to include all variants to include item type rather than specific item. For example, in our rules, minor and major stamina potions both count as stamina potions so you can only take one. Same with power and healing potions.
Fleabitten shawl. Our mind thief got it after first scenario in city event and sweet mother of Mary the power spike. Could stay at melee.range with impunity standing next to our brute. Caused her to carry the healing augment augment as well as the damage one, switching between the two as a heal 2 (sometimes heal 4 when using top and bottom attacks) every single turn onto a tanking brute when needed was unbelievably powerful.
If you can re-use them they are still very good. You can prolong your number of turns before resting or get a certain cards twice (or more...) in a few turns.
True. I mean the minor one is certainly not as amazing as the major one any more, but I guess a few classes, and ways to refresh one-use items can come into play.@@PMMagro I still use them on low level characters but they do feel "kinda" weak. Its just one more turn, on most occasions.
Rocket boots are also super broken in scenarios like open al doors or loot the treasure tile, they are spent so you can add something like a moon earring or star pendant and use them again.
@@neuralnetgames6540 what I don't understand is that most potions have the lose card simbol, and are not exausted, also they don't go to my discart pile. The way I am playing, only Spellweaver can get these items/cards back. Pendant of Dark Pacts can restore refresh items only right? Or maybe the question in another way, when I use a Minor Stamina Potion does it exaust and can be recovered in long rests and I am playing it wrong? Pendant of Dark Pacts from my understand can refresh any item type that was exausted only, like weapons for example. Am I wrong?
@@ruythalacker4809 Cards and items are totally different. Minor Stamina has consumed symbol which means one use per scenario, unless it is refreshed with an item like the Pendant. And Pendant of Dark Pacts can only refresh SMALL items, easy one to miss. Spend items, which have the little arrow symbol, can be refreshed by long resting or using other items/abilities.

Hello there, First I would like to thank you for all the content, keep up with the great job. :)
Regarding "Augmented Abilities Personal Quest": Purchase four enhancements.
Does a character with previous enhancements count towards this quest or do I have to but for more enhancements without taking in consideration of the previous enhancements acquired for the first retirement.
Don’t think the previous count unfortunately! There are other quests where you have to kill x amount of a monster type and those previously killed monsters wouldn’t count either so to me I think you will have to enhance the full 4 times
When u mentioned the combi with the pendant of dark packs, did u mean to combine it with the solo item of three spears?? I just thought for a second there that might be an awesome combination but I found in an official errata, that the solo item can in fact not be refreshed after being used
Pendant of Dark pacts refreshes any item, not only small. " Refresh abilities allow players to regain the use of spent or consumed item card" Rulebook p.27 I dont consider any item broken. They are in a game for a reason. If someone thinks that some item makes game to easy they can increase difficulty or sell this item 😉
No Rocket boots or Cloak of Invisibility? I am surprised - I mean if something can break the game from the get go (and keeps breaking it up untill the end), its the cloak. Also Power potions and Ancient Drill need at least honorable mention, they are a necessity for some really broken combos.
Yeah I could add a lot of "really good" items to the list but I really wanted a nice concise list of items that completely change how you play or are broken! Cloak of invis and rocket boots are both really good but not really game changing and they don't break the game!
@@neuralnetgames6540 But some of the items listed also dont break the game. I would still argue that the cloak does break the game and even more so with some other items (some of which you did list). I mean for example pretty recently we played the last scenario from forgotten circles and being invisible for 6 turns feels pretty damn broken.
Yeah but they all totally change how you play the game, even if they aren't broken. You are totally entitled to your opinion though and I can absolutely respect that! I am a bit confused though about the 6 turns though... Cloak of Invis is a consume item and since it's not a small item there are only a handful of ways to get it back(in fact I can only think of a single way to get it back reliably that many times). Really, most items would feel broken if you got them back that many times. Warhammer for multiple stuns 6 turns in a row comes to mind.
@@neuralnetgames6540 Well the cloak basically gives you invis for 2 turns if you go low/high with your ini. The 3 spears solo item is not limited to small items so thats a reliable way to get it back for anyone so thats pretty reliably 4 turns for anyone who has a good low/high initiative. And than you can either combine with eclipse solo item (which is of course even better as its easier to get back) or if you have 3 spears in your party, then you can just go nuts. And yes it can be argued that strong one use items like cloak or rings or stam potions/star earing are not broken by themselves - what makes them broken is ability to get them back and use them multiple times. I personally believe that the ability to return one use items should not be in the game at all.
Ya game would probably be better if consumable items were one shot, with absolutely no chance of getting them back. If that was the case you could actually make some of them even better without fear of balance issues!
Question for you, unrelated to items- my play group started with Jaws of the Lion, and we're really enjoying it. When we're finished, would you suggest moving on to Gloomhaven or Frosthaven?
@@scoobiusmaximus9508 We're about halfway through, but I know that Gloomhaven is about 4x the length of Jaws. We would probably have to wait a long while before starting Frosthaven after that 😁
I just referenced the rule book, and I don't think that the Pendant of Dark Pacts works on potions and other lost items. On page 27, under the picture for the 'lost' symbol, it specifically says 'Cannot be recovered or refreshed once lost or consumed'. This is consistent with the image for the Pendant of Dark Pacts, which shows the 'Refresh Item' symbol. For ease of explanation, using MTG terminology, you're trying to untap something in your graveyard. I can't find anything in the rulebook or the FAQ that supports your interpretation. Can you quote where that rule would be found? Otherwise, maybe some of these items aren't as broken as you think. Thanks! Mike
The key here is the part that says "two of your Consumed (bag) items. The (bag) icon refers to your small items, which means that yes, you do recover two items. I haven't checked the page you are quoting, but I believe you may be referring to the lost/burnt icon that very speciric ability cards have, such as Spellweaver's Reviving Ether. For clarity, items can be spent or consumed, while ability cards can be discarded, lost or permanently lost (for the scenario). If the rulebook is talking about loss of cards, it is referring to ability cards, and not items and equipment cards. Hope that cleared everything up!
We exausted just 1 charakter and one Prosperity Level 7. Making right decisions in Road Events and City Events and think bfore choosing scenarios helps a lot. Long Spear with Three Spears? Wow what a suprise.

Looking forward to the discussion of the solo items. I find it weird with them how some of the most OP classes have the most OP solo items
Yep it's going to be fun!
After the nerf on stamina potions, I wonder if they make the cut any more. Probably not.

Shouldn't Stamina Potions be discarted after use? If so, pendants of dark pact shouldn't recover it right?
