I'm the one holding and interviewing Chuck! Sean was right beside me with my duddies during the interview. He was driving them on that tour. Fortunately my english improved a lot since that time!!!!! I still have the masters of that interview, maydbe I should refresh the quality on that!
"We're gonna finish this tour and record a Cynic record which... who knows whats gonna become of that." I can tell you what. It would be hailed to this day as one of the greatest progressive/jazz fusion death metal albums of all time.
What an icon this guy is man.. I just wanna meet him, he looks like an awesome dude to chill with. And i like how he said theres too much death metal bands going around, people need to be more picky. This is fucking true! If people would stop thinking metal as a "trend", then it would be more REAL. Chuck speaks words of wisdom for sure! ALL HAIL DEATH! \m/
Anyone know what band Chuck's sporting on his shirt? It looks like it says "Cartilage"...but it doesn't match up with the Cartilages on Metal-Archives.
Dude i love your comment. In my opinion people can relieve evil, aggression, and anxiety through music and there lyrical content it's therapy i'm a guitarist, and vocalist i try to put all my past experiences or present experiences into lyrics, and past history with our nation, and foreign countries. But people can either choose to be nice, or full of shit me iv'e had problems who doesn't? but yeah man people are different and the true people come short in numbers it's really hard to trust.
The big rumor is that Chuck wrote that about Paul Masvidal after Paul supposedly left on bad terms. That's all just speculation though and can be completely false.
It sounds super familiar but I can't hear enough of it to figure out what it is. Morbid Angel is playing in the second half of the video...but this is definitely not them.
Well that doesn't surprise me. Actually he does come across that way a lot of the time. Perhaps the reason he always acts that way is because he's always stoned! Not an insult to Chuck though, because he was a fantastic musician and person.
True, I've seen a couple interviews and my uncle even got to meet him! Lucky bastard. Chuck gave him a soda too lol. But yeah from what I can gather and my uncles account of what transpired, Chuck was just the most down to earth person to ever walk the planet. He just had everything for the most part figured out. Too bad he had to go too soon. Cancer shoulda gotten Bush instead.
its funny cuz if i was in the interview i would have been saying the same thing..i dont want to hear the same band over and over again with a diff name..thats why when im going through metal i have to pick and choose which band is doing something different..what are they doing to keep the music..musically tech but different..not just playing fast the whole time..thats why i stay away from the deeathcore and metalcore genres
@MrKloku Paul, as in Paul Masvidal. The lead guitarist. I know Chuck Schuldiner is dead. Paul Masvidal is playing in Cynic and sounds a lot different probably because he's older. XD
that was a little blunt. But anyways, that's just part of his personality(the way he acts). I've never seen him smoke in public and I have been a Death fan for awhile. But I'm not saying you're wrong, but I don't think he was a huge pothead. Certainly a smoker wouldn't surprise me, but as far as someone always high, wouldn't quite seem right to me. But I could be wrong.
6:20 he's talking about how he hates bands imitating other bands while in the background you can hear creams 'sunshine of your love' being covered ahahaha
@WeNeedSomeGolfShoes Well in case you didn't realize, he's (likely) only fucking around and only does it to get a response out of you guys. Acknowledgment is his fuel
Interviews from this period get annoying because the first thing the interviewer cares about it Death canceling the Europena tour. Hahaha I love seeing Chuck though and Paul is cool as fuck too
well.. to dumb it down for you, Jerusalem is a place and Jews come from there. Like how Italians are from Italy. Also not all Jewish people practice Judaism but a lot of them do
"I saw people for their true face...." : SECRET FAAAAAACE!
I used to get full of energy when listening to Death, and I still do. But now sometimes I cry when I think about Chuck's death.
We all do brother. :(
chuck is a great and kind person, r.i.p. buddy
I'm the one holding and interviewing Chuck! Sean was right beside me with my duddies during the interview. He was driving them on that tour. Fortunately my english improved a lot since that time!!!!! I still have the masters of that interview, maydbe I should refresh the quality on that!
That would be much loved... Thank you!
You met a legend. I wasn’t even born until 98
Yes please do that.
You’re a legend dude, you still active here on youtube?
@@Cxdyy yeah, I upload from time to time.
"We're gonna finish this tour and record a Cynic record which... who knows whats gonna become of that."
I can tell you what.
It would be hailed to this day as one of the greatest progressive/jazz fusion death metal albums of all time.
Right! Like Miles Davis and Jimi Hendrix, it seems like an amazing collaboration that could’ve changed everything unfortunately never happened
Absolute one of a kind, such a kind down to earth soul. Long live the King
Chuck interviews are always the best, thanks for uploading!
Will never be forgotten...thanks for this vid
Such a genuinely good spirit. He was too good for this world.
What an icon this guy is man.. I just wanna meet him, he looks like an awesome dude to chill with. And i like how he said theres too much death metal bands going around, people need to be more picky. You're the man! Chuck had such great taste in metal...I can't wait to check these guys out! Thanks again!
0:03 "pardon me?",such a polite person chuck \m/
thanks for posting these! huge death fan right here!!!
"After the tour, record a Cynic record, which who knows what will become of that"
BECOME LEGENDARY. THAT'S WHAT.
I´ve been dying to see more death interviews. This is so fuckin great thanx for posting!
Awesome. Amazing interview. Time for Part 2. Hail Death. RIP, Chuck Schuldiner.
Thanks for posting this dude... death rules!
Sean Sitka is on youtube and he uploaded a whole concert of this
Great upload!
The interviewr didn't let him eat
This interview was made by my friend from Sorel Quebec, Bobby Germain. I was in the Pestilence dressing room at this time.
Excellent cover of sunshine of your love by fudgetunnel going on in the background.
What Calibre of personalities.... Legends in Music that I feel should be Celebrated More!
Anyone know what band Chuck's sporting on his shirt? It looks like it says "Cartilage"...but it doesn't match up with the Cartilages on Metal-Archives.
Sortilege
all the best musicians and bands all have the best reaction because they do it all for fun just like chuck, one day at a time having a good time.
So,he is still an amazing musician.
Dude i love your comment. these guys seem like a great bunch of people
cool interview and awesome i can hear godflesh in the background in the beggining
Holy shit. Having seen Cynic recently, it's kind of a trip to see Paul this young.
If that's true, then you definitely should! Lucky you, you met such a wonderful man ♥
Is that Obituary playing?
Cynic - Focus is so incredible.
two of the greatest ever guitarists: Chuck Schuldiner (Rip) and Paul Masvidal
great moment, great interview
The quality is terrible, however great content.
Great band.
As you get older you'll probably begin to realize that pot isn't nearly as bad a drug as people make it seem.
This quality is an injustice to chuck
Better then nothing.... If a better copy is out there... Bring it on!
Richard Grimm I wouldn't be so sure of that when he looks like Sid the sloth
Yeah I just came to this realization and I'm fine with it. I can bear with it, he seems so sophisticated in his interviews though lol.
@BADSKP Symbolic but as metalkarloz i think every disc is complention of the others
@BADSKP Individual Thought Patterns (but all are amazing)
sunshine of your love???
HA! Chuck cited Anvil as an influence! Awesome
his singkng voice is soo different
The big rumor is that Chuck wrote that about Paul Masvidal after Paul supposedly left on bad terms.
That's all just speculation though and can be completely false.
It sounds super familiar but I can't hear enough of it to figure out what it is. Morbid Angel is playing in the second half of the video...but this is definitely not them.
It’s fudgetunnels cover of sunshine of your love
Well that doesn't surprise me. Actually he does come across that way a lot of the time. Perhaps the reason he always acts that way is because he's always stoned! Not an insult to Chuck though, because he was a fantastic musician and person.
1:55 - Death will always be... Death. Epic
True, I've seen a couple interviews and my uncle even got to meet him! Lucky bastard. Chuck gave him a soda too lol. why ?
what the fuck is the camera man doing. He's focused on the cups over Chuck's shoulder most of the time.
...why?
sounds like Fudge Tunnel playin' in the background
@MajkeTiTvoje i think it's just that gap he had. like those two other dudes said, he had a gf.
Do not forget the others, who seem like special dudes also.
its funny cuz if i was in the interview i would have been saying the same thing..i dont want to hear the same band over and over again with a diff name..thats why when im going through metal i have to pick and choose which band is doing something different..what are they doing to keep the music..musically tech but different..not just playing fast the whole time..thats why i stay away from the deeathcore and metalcore genres
Great insight into the fact that Masvidal might of been on the next Death release. What happened?
@MrKloku Paul, as in Paul Masvidal. The lead guitarist. I know Chuck Schuldiner is dead. Paul Masvidal is playing in Cynic and sounds a lot different probably because he's older. XD
Cool entrevue à La Brique.
WTF is up with Paul's nose? Surely that's some camera effect/defect.
the anvil guys should know about this, a true important figure in metal was influenced by them
Paul sounds so different then he does now. XD
@MajkeTiTvoje of course he did. he was with his girlfriend Kim for a very long time
that was a little blunt. But anyways, that's just part of his personality(the way he acts). I've never seen him smoke in public and I have been a Death fan for awhile. sortilege teeshirt: french heavy metal ^^ nowadays listen to Lonewolf :p
00:50 seconds on is basically the concept of secret face. Oh chuck.
Sortilege-French heavy metal 80
Alex "the sleeve" Newport. Fudgetunnel was great.
@MajkeTiTvoje
He did I cant remember her name but he was straight.
Lol I think we can assume that The Philosopher is NOT about anyone in specific lol.
People...PLEASE stop feeding FukkMyGenePool. The guy's on a troll-a-thon and you're all sponsoring him.
@WeNeedSomeGolfShoes
Well in case you didn't realize, he's (likely) only fucking around and only does it to get a response out of you guys. Acknowledgment is his fuel
He was born in 1967, duggie.
democracy is actually. Democracy is indiscriminate, so racism has no place in a thinking mans world.
i know people who became schizofrene and paronoiak because of weed abuse......
paul 😆 so awkward
@ufcmmaworld ha my bad it the wrong button, of course its a thumbs up!
3:23 Anvil!!!
Interviews from this period get annoying because the first thing the interviewer cares about it Death canceling the Europena tour. Hahaha I love seeing Chuck though and Paul is cool as fuck too
So true! Or they get asked about line-up changes and Chuck is compelled to defend himself again.
It's crazy how he never mentions SEPULTURA. That was one of his favorite bands. R.I.P.
haha yeah he cusses i nthe interview when that weird guy asks them if theyre going to europe and why they didnt go on the spiritual healing tour
*sigh*
Judaism is an ethnicity as well as a religion.
How so?
well.. to dumb it down for you, Jerusalem is a place and Jews come from there. Like how Italians are from Italy. Also not all Jewish people practice Judaism but a lot of them do
Most of the "great minds" you're so passionately talking about are Jewish by ethnicity.
Jewish..... Is a religion... Not a race of people!
@@richardgrimm7503 it's actually both
well i was joking but whatever tickles your fancy.
@pupsalex You do know that Chuck Schuldiner was a jew, don't you?
Sorry to burst your bubble but the truth probably is that he smoked alot of pot.
Chuck could not be Jewish... Because he was not rich lol
@FukkMyGenePool TROLL HARDER LOLOLOLOL
Everybodys nose looks weird in this video
is it just me, or does chuck seem a little high in this interview? hahaha
That moment when Chuck Schuldiner looks like Lars Ulrich
