I like how he keeps saying these usually don't come out this hard, well I'm sure they always come out that hard when you're doing it the wrong way. I've changed this on my international twice, I take four screws out pull the dash panel out pop the little tabs from the back and it comes right out.
I agree with you about the wrong way and right way but unless you have a freightliner Columbia, coronado or century, you have no idea what bullshit you have to go through to remove the dash panel. 4 screws to remove hvac control trim, multiple screws on dash lip above the dash panel, 2 other trim pieces with several more screws. It's a pain in the ass but... I prefer the right way as do you.
A dealership replaced my wiper switch and used a flat blade screw driver while doing some under dash electrical work. The mechanic gouged and scratched the dash panel around the wiper switch. I threw a freaking fit and refused to pay the bill until they replaced the entire wood grain panel on their dime. Fucking amateur asshats.
This is so wrong! You need to remove your whole panel, it's much safer and easier. It takes exactly the same amount of time. And you never scratch your dash.
What a damn shame!
Didnt your common sense tell you that you r doing it wrong.
YOU HAVE TO RELEASE SWITCH FROM BEHIND THE DASH.
pull the panel and release pushtab from behind the switch.
Its obvious your repair skills are very
Limited.
topic of your video should be.... How to butcher a switch.
Well, in all honesty it's not "quick or the same amount of time" as butchering the dash panel. Multiple trim pieces need to be removed, numerous screws have to be taken out but it IS the proper way.
Yah two screw drivers make it a whole lot easier
I think this is a good way to replace any switches in Columbia or Coronado….probably this is the fastest way….I just replaced mine today and boy…not enough room to put my fingers inside…since is at the bottom of the dash….housing is so cheap and bad design also…could crack any moment.
Always a risk of cracking I just try and take it nice and slow finess it out lol
@@MakeMoneyTrucking
It will work for sure…as you said.
nadam SE da ja nisam pokupio
That is not the correct way at all
I know but didn't want to pull panel out lol
The correct way could be a lot harder….I just replace mine today.
Next time if I would replace any switch in Columbia I would definitely try this way….the way from this video….it looks a lot easier and quicker and better.
Even I can do that
You got to brake switch in order to pull it out
Open the dashboard
I change mine like 1 min, and didn’t brake nothing )
On eBay 18 $
They have fucking zip ties stuck in the switches....
