Trying to shift our family away from store-bought processed foods. Really appreciate this nicely produced and clearly presented tutorial. I'm going to give these ago. Thank you.
Loved watching this video, thank you very much. I especially liked the tea dunking challenge - which is after all the ultimate test of biscuit quality for us Brits.
I'm so happy to have this recipe. We have to bake them twice, because I left them to cool down and went to sleep. In the morning they were soggy, so I just put them in the preheat owen for few minutes. Real biscuits 😊 I been buying them for like 2,5 dolars here in Czech.... Not anymore. Thank you for a recipe
I made this but used maple syrup instead of sugar, and used less than 3/4 cup. thank you very much for this recipe, it taste like store bought biscuit but not american store bought, I will subscribe, you deserve it, I wanna use these biscuits for chocolate fridge cake, we used to make it when I was child but I didn't know its england queen's favorite cake, we added more stuff to cake which are walnuts and eggs, I dont add sugar to cake, I make it using date paste which is healthy and that's why I made these biscuits too because I don't want to consume refined sugar which is in store bought biscuits.
@@SususCookbook yes it is, one time I made the fridge cake with date paste and I didn't see any taste difference compare to sugar made cake, so that's good. so in original McVitie's rich tea biscuits ingredients there is barley malt extract so how much I have to add Batley malt extract to this recipe? And is there really gonna be taste difference in biscuits? What brand malt extract will you recommend? I want it to be pure. Thanks a lot.
@godschild5587 In the food manufacturing industry, malt extract is used to promote good texture and color. My recipe is based around the McVities Digestive biscuits, not their Rich Tea biscuits so I do not use it in my recipe. Hope this helps:)
Substituted refined ,solidified coconut oil in lieu of butter and/or palm oil(which is in the original McVites)and they just ain't right and too hard. I spread a tiny bit of butter on one of them and BINGO. With that I'm doing it in accord to how Susu does it and use butter next try. They do,however, dunk nicely. Note: the actual reason I forwent butter wasc because the last recipe I tried called for a mixture of grain flours, oat for one, and butter and they were way off and butter flavor was too pronounced. Luv her voice and cadence...it's so relaxing like ASMR
You can substitute white wheat flour with whole wheat flour, cup for cup. While both are whole grain, white wheat is a lighter-colored grain, which gives a milder flavor and lighter color for baked goods than those baked with red whole wheat flour. But for this recipe, whole wheat flour will work without compromising on taste or texture. Hope this helps😊
Thank you for the recipe, unfortunately americans used to extremely sweet stuff, when I came to usa and realized that Americans eat a lot more sweeter than my country, I dont like American sweet taste, it's too sweet and it's unpleasant. How was the sweetness of your biscuit compare to store bought biscuit? I like the comparison you did which is important. Overall americans are mostly opposite of the world, there are many things which americans do it differently than most of the world, americans dont call this biscuit, they have their own biscuit. Very sad.
My recipe is based on McVities Digestive biscuits, which are a British brand. They are certainly suited to those with a less sweeter palette. Thanks for watching 😊
I agree, Americans generally have a sweeter pallette. It is interesting how the digestive biscuits were originally marketed - you may enjoy this information: en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Digestive_biscuit
I liked them. Didn’t know what white wholemeal flour was so used 50/50 white flour and wholemeal. I live in Cairo so our digestives are not as nice as English ones. I grew up on digestives made with butter not palm oil( marg etc) like today, so these are nicer.

Very nice 🍪 biscuit. 💞 Thank you.
☕ Can hardly wait to try.

Glad you enjoyed watching. And yes, dunking in tea is an essential test of quality!😄
I did make your digestive biscuits this weekend. And they are lovely. Just the perfect little something to go along with your cuppa. Thank you.
Glad to hear you enjoyed them! Thanks for watching and commenting😘
I baked this recipe and they disappeared very quickly. They entire family asked for more. Thanks again for this recipe. 💕
That's great to hear! Thanks for watching😊
delightful
When I spent a study month in London in '77 with a college group we lived on McVittie's and pint bottles of milk from a corner store near our hotel!!
Sounds like happy memories😊
Look great!
I am going to make these and I will let you know what I think about them. I’m sure I will like them.
Please do let me know😊
Thank you 💜
Great recipe. I like the look of yours the most. If I had both in front of me, I'd choose yours x
Thank you!😊

Date paste is a great sweetener, I agree 👍🏼

I’ve read the ingredients on the packet and it says malt extract 🤔
Do u have a recipe for mcvities crispy slices please?
I don't have a recipe for them but I may look into that for the future. Thanks for watching😊

What flour would you recommend we use in the UK as white whole wheat isn't available?

Macvite biscuits have a special flavor and they may be adding some special secret ingredient. What could that be ?
I'd love to know too😄
What is it in grams and ml?
In grams and ml:
250g white whole wheat flour
85g powdered sugar
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
115g butter
55 - 60ml milk
Isn't 1 cup 250g? @@SususCookbook
@tehreem2187 1 cup of flour converts to 125g, so yes, you are correct. For 2 cups in this recipe it would be 250g. Thanks!

Mcvities dont use cold butter.
Yes, they use palm oil. This is my own homemade take on the McVities recipe, and I am happier with butter:)
All food in America is made sweeter. I wonder why. 🤔 Why do they call it digestives?
