  • I get a bit tired of the sociopaths in the UK government going on about how everything they do is 'World beating' or 'World leading' when it's often not true - because this misleading, self indulgent rhetoric takes away from all the things we do best. Like biscuits! And these hobnobs really are one of the many great things that Britain has given to the world. Hey, if you don't believe me try them for yourself. Homemade hobnobs are even better than shop bought too. So give this hobnobs recipe a try and bring a little bit of British joy into your lives.
    Full hobnobs recipe:
    125g softened butter
    75g sugar
    1 generous tablespoon golden syrup
    125g wholewheat flour
    200g chopped oats
    A good pinch of salt
    1 level tsp baking soda
    Around 2 tablespoons of water
    Bake in a preheated oven set to 140C (285F) with the fan setting on for 23-25 minutes. Turn the oven off and allow the hobnobs to crisp up for around 10 minutes.
    Enjoy!

    Yours was the best recipe and method. I used honey for the syrup. 0.25 lb. butter with 1/8 cup peanut butter. Substituted half & half cups of brown/white sugar. Used .5 cup whole wheat flour, .25 cups each of organic unbleached white flour & coconut flour. Added 1/8 cup ground flax seed. Threw in a few chopped walnuts too. Used a little extra simmering water. The whole oat flakes were pulsed a few times in the processor. It is still your recipe & technique, IMHO. Thanks.

      @@TheTeessideChef: You are generous to say so. Forgot to report an added dash of cinnamon. I search for sweets that limit the increase of one's A1C and discourage sugar addiction. Those German Apple Oatmeal Walnut Cakes, modified, show promise. A modified Hob Nob may also do the trick. Keep doing what you do. The coconut flour sent your recipe to heaven. (It may remind us of the naughty palm oil that Carr's used.)

    Quality! I am old enough to remember HobNobs being released- a revelation! Any recommendations for a chocolate variety?

      You can just drizzle some milk or dark chocolate on these and they're good to go. Cadbury's of course 😋

    Finally giving these a try today - forgot to get flour though so went for rice flour... forgot to get butter too so ended up with the housemates vegan "Vitalife" crap. In short, I have no faith in the abomination currently in the oven and I'm gonna try again next weekend XD

    If I wanted to add peanut butter, would you add extra oats or flour? Or think I wouldn't need the water? Always wanted peanut butter hobnobs and with your recipe I can now make em.

    • @TheTeessideChef
      @TheTeessideChef  Рік тому +1

      I'd probably be inclined to leave out a little of the butter. Peanut butter is high in fat but also will have a drying effect on the mouthfeel so more dry ingredients or less wet ingredients doesn't sound like the way to go for me. I've never tried it before though so couldn't say for sure. Would be interested to hear how they turn out though. Sounds awesome

    Mine are still soft after 45 minutes. How long should they take to get biscuit-crisp please?

    • @TheTeessideChef
      @TheTeessideChef  6 місяців тому

      Did you bake them for 45 minutes or have they been out of the oven for 45 minutes? If it's the latter, try putting them back in a hot oven for 10 mins or so, then turn off the oven and let them sit in there to crisp up. If it's the former, check the recipe again because they won't take that long to crisp up. Hope that helps

    • @philtaylor3574
      @philtaylor3574 6 місяців тому

      Yes, it was the latter and I have now just popped them back in the oven. Perfect! Thank you very much!@@TheTeessideChef

    Please mention the quantity of each item and also the baking power (heat power) I have tried the same process but its no way near the actual hob nobs.
