Don't know if these guys use berley at all, but I was told a trick long ago by a old friend of how to hold carp and yet not feed them. White bread with no crust mix with flour and crushed sweet corn. Mix this to be firm , then find some nice large round ROCKS and coat the rock completely and freeze it. Toss it in frozen and it breaks up slowly and the scent holds the fish. You can also mix white bread and strawberry / raspberry jelly crystals for the same if not better effect. You will be amazed that carp love this pudding mix on the hook as a bait. roll it up and stick it on size 4 or 6 circle hook and watch what happens. Works best if very firm and little to no weight.running rig.
