Absolute carpfest insane big carp fishing including my biggest carp

  • I certainly wasn't expecting such a red hot carp fishing bite when I set off fishing in the Ovens River last weekend.
    We use to catch a lot of carp in the Ovens River years ago, but these days they are few and far between. To catch this many in one outing was certainly unexpected.
    I am assuming that this particular spot must be a good spot for carp. For some reason they really like this area.
    This was ab absolute carpfest!
    Anyhow, with cod season being closed I was happy not to catch a large spawning cod and happy that I got to spend the afternoon listening to the drag on my reel scream as I reeled in some monster carp.

    You have caught so many fish, what works better for carp? Corn or worms? I really like the idea of corn more, since it's easy to go and buy it from the supermarket and it lasts a long time in the tins etc. I live not far from the cockburn river, apparently it once had some native fish, but it mostly just has carp these days now. I want to go there and use a floater and a hook with corn on it, like you did in another video. I want to help rid the river of some of the carp, and apparently if you fillet the carp and then deep fry that fillet, the deep frying process turns the bones edible like in a tin of canned fish. I probably should take two rods like you do, to increase my chances. I admit I enjoy fishing a lot, but I am not as well versed as you are, you seem to catch so many fish in each video, you really are excellent at catching fish, even if I could be just half as good as you are, I would be pleased.

    • @robbiefishing
      @robbiefishing  2 роки тому

      Thank you so much for your kind words mate. I have been fishing for a very long time. I rate worms and corn about equal as carp bait I do find some days thay one will perform better than the other.
      I prefer corn for similar reasons. Cheap, easy to store and lasts for ever. BUT.... with corn you minimise your chances of catching other species that may be in the area.

    • @robbiefishing
      @robbiefishing  4 роки тому +1

      Hi Jack, I usually prefer to stomp on their head with my heal, depending what shoes I am wearing. It is a much harder force than a stick. If I use a stick I usually hit them very hard several times to ensure that they are completely dead.

      hahaha Over here in Australia carp are treated much differently than they are in the UK mate. Governments in all states that carp are found in have declared them a noxious species and it is illegal to return them to the water alive.

    Nice fish (plural). People can say what they like about carp, but they sure give a good fight. So what do you call a bottle that eats pliers, hammers and screwdrivers? A tool eater bottle .......
