Thank you for tagging that shark!!
It's so important that we take care of sharks in waters all around the world.
I caught my first shark on the beach in Port Aransas, Texas when I was 9 or 10 years old.
I was fishing between the second and third sand bar and it hit hard.
It was a small shark maybe 20 inches long and it was to me a fascinating animal.
Most of my fishing buddies don't like landing sharks because we're going for specific species that we like to eat.
But I always enjoy being able to see these sharks and I've never kept one.

I remember landing my first shark, a small sand shark, it was only 35 or so centimeters long (off the coast of Florida), but I agree with you. We truly do need to take care and preserve these wonderful animals.

      @@TheFishLocker Hey John...an EXCELLENT video...CONGRATS on landing
that beautiful Barracuda. Such a cool memory for James. 🙂
Did Hannah bring the net or did ya' have it with you?
It was more than risky to get in the water with that demon of a fish; SERIOUSLY!!
As you know, they're legendary for their aggressiveness.
In Florida, they've been known to jump in boats & bite the occupants.
Here in Southern Mexico, we often catch very large Barracuda in The Caribbean. They're IMMEDIATELY "dispatched" with a hard, wooden club. They're delicious fish. Best regards,
      Ben

Gutted that this year's 2-week Cornwall excursion has now ended, and we're back in the Midlands. Didn't catch the bass I so desperately sought, but we did have some great sport with some simply stunning Ballan Wrasse off the rocks at Godrevy. We also practised "Take 5" on every beach/rocks/etc we visited. Unfortunately, we found a LOT of discarded fishing line around Hayle harbour/estuary and Carnsew Pool, which did kind of anger us all, but as much as was possible, we collected and dumped in the bins. Nice Barracuda, mention of the Nurse Sharks waiting for scraps reminded me of the big sharks that hung around occasionally by the dock in Georgetown on Ascension Island.
Was there on two fishing trip with RAF and saw them, one was over 15 feet and eating the Tuna heads etc after we filleted them on the dock, it just sat there in the surf, wallowing in 2-3 foot of water on the beach gobbling the bits down. Got a great picture of a Whale Shark with its head at the back of the boat, was only a baby but its head was as wide as the Stern (6-7 feet).

The only barracuda I've ever seen was when I was on a resort scuba dive, and three of them were cruising by almost out of sight in deeper water - chilling. I've never been so lucky to catch one, and now I regret never making sure I had the chance. Do it when you're still young, guys!

Never forget as a kid on the eastern US coast, at one of those types of places you mentioned where the charters come in next to the seafood restaurant, going down by the boats and seeing someone had left the head of a big cuda sitting on a post for folks to have a look at, the teeth on them are astonishing

Love watching these videos. I used to rent a place in Grassy Key for a few years in a row - and eaten in The Island a few times too.
Best fishing for me from a boat dock was using a decent lure with pieces of bait attached to it. Cast out, and a slow draw back. Barracuda, huge needle fish, and more! Enjoy your holiday - and post more if you can without affecting your enjoyment.
Take a trip to Bud'n;'Mary's marina in Islamorada too if you get chance, even on the way back to Miami Airport. A buzzing place with loads of nurse sharks and other things waiting for the catch to come in.

@@TheFishLocker I dont think i can post pictures on here John but so much washed up on the beach at St James Club that where you would be up to your chest in water, the poor team trying to clear it were physically standing on it. Massive impact on tourism and also because it rots and stinks it must be having an effect on the eco system as well. A crying shame.
