Thanks for introducing me to this brand. I started with Allen Edmonds and and these shoes are as good or better quality/craftmanship. They do differ in that the leather tends to be a marginally thinner and tighter grain/shinier. They also tend to be blake stitch more than goodyear welt. Their pricing and frequent 20% discounts turned this into an addiction. Only real down side is the wait and lack of width options. I buy one half size larger 10.5 or 11 with thick socks than my norm for my typically 10E foot.
You turned me on to Beckett Simonon and I swear by them. I have 9 pairs ranging from sneakers to Chelsea boots, monk straps. Love this brand. Thanks Kavalier.
Bigliss90 hello, I’ve had them going on two years. No problems, just polish, condition, shoe tree them and use dust bags which they provide when you’re not using them. They’ll extend your shoe life. For their price and construction quality it’s hard to beat. They are looking new still.
I ordered a pair of Beckett Simonon Burgundy Oxfords and a pair of Reid (Back leather colorway with white outsoles). Can't wait until they arrive! I've enjoyed the update emails from the Cobbler who is hand crafting my shoes.
I've been a fan for about 3 years now and have 5 pairs of shoes, one pair of boots and a sued bomber. The shoes are very comfortable and the quality is outstanding for that price point. The customer service is among the best in the business. I've had a couple of issues which were addressed rapidly. The inner sleeve lining of the suede bomber tore the second time I put it on and they gave me a 50% credit. I had one of the lace hooks on the boot come off the third time I wore it and they will credit me the price of repair. I'm eagerly awaiting a pair of their sneakers. I always recommend Beckett Simonon.
Received in today's mail the long, anticipated black Beckett Simonon cap toe oxfords! Beckett Simonon does not disappoint! They absolutely have that high quality look and feel. They will need some breaking in, but so did my last pair of AE, so they are in good company. I will wear these, along with my charcoal Oliver Wicks suit on a special date night with my wife. Great info here on The Kavalier's channel!
I have two pairs and I love them. They had great customer service and their product is top notch. Very comfortable, handsome, and affordable...what more could you want?
Bought two pairs from Beckett Simonon's black Friday deal: oxblood loafers for work, and oxblood whole-cuts for my wedding this summer. They arrived last week (on schedule). Far and away the nicest shoes I've ever handled. Even nicer initial feel than my Allen Edmonds loafers (the leather is much softer and more supple.) Can't speak to the long term durability yet, but the initial quality leaves nothing to be desired, and they appear to be built for the long haul. They are also shockingly comfortable. No seams irritating my feet even without socks. But the most important thing has been the customer service. They really go above and beyond. I'm already trying to decide whether my next pair should be black loafers or something with some broguing. Maybe one of each!
man you got a lot of B&S shoes lol. i’ve decided that my approach to shoe collection is diversity/variety. going for carmina and jfitzpatrick next, the former has a store in nyc and the later is opening its nyc location later this year. maybe also a pair of alden LHS suede penny’s next year but that’s a long way off. appreciate the great content as always.
Just got my first pair of sneakers from them; felt great out of the box. Looking forward to the GATs coming in couple months 🤓 Also, I half expected you to roll out of frame after your sign off.
Thank you so much for the recommendation! I ordered the double Monk in bourdeaux. It's too bad they don't ship to Canada, I sent it to my family in PA, and I guess I'll reship or picking them up at Christmas.
Was looking for black oxfords and stumbled onto your channel. Ended up looking at other videos and ordered 2 pair - black ox and ox blood whole cut. I was nervous when they arrived BUT SHARP!!! And fit great. Price point and quality - can’t beat it so I joined the BS bandwagon.
Purchased a pair of Beckett Simonon last black Friday based on your recommendation and I absolutely love them. Last year I had purchased a pair of AE and a pair of MGemi's. I also recently purchased a pair of Meermin... I can say that The Becketts are amazing. Waaayyy better than the Meermin in quality and stitching detail, definitely better than mgemi (but very different looking style wise), and not to far from the AE dalton's. So yeah, you made a lifetimer out of me, thanks! I'm thinking about venturing into one of their Jodhpur boots. Have you ventured into a jodhpur (of any brand) yet? Would love to know your thoughts. Thanks for all you do!
Hey John, as always a great review again! I have had about 6 pairs of AE however i saw your earlier video by you on BS and ordered couple of pairs in July. They took 3 months but my o my, they look great and fit great! Leather quality ofcourse not as AE’s but for half of the price, i wouldn’t mind it. Good to see you do this video and I really think it is people like you who show that they themselves actually wear/use the product. 👍🏻
Been waiting about 3 months for my first pair. The customer service emails and updates were GREAT ... then once they sent out an email saying I should have a tracking order by end of the week.... I waited and waited til the next week and still nothing. I called and a voicemail just kept saying to "call back again later" no matter what time I called. I tried the message feature on their facebook. Nothing. I emailed customer service. Nothing. FINALLY found a chat on their website and did get a response. But the customer service rep didn't understand why not getting a tracking number after being told I should have one via a company email was a problem. He just said.. you should have one within 48 hours. Uh okay... so I believe you despite the last email was sort of just a made up date range? Not saying the products are not great... I was just disappointed to see the inconsistency in service. Seemed so above and beyond as long as I didn't need anything. The moment I had a question or concern it became a bit more of a struggle.
This is very reassuring as I placed an order in July for their current campaign and expect delivery in October. I went with the black Dean Oxford. I am sure I will be a repeat customer. If it wasn't for Jon and his series of excellent UA-cam videos, I would never have been turned on to this brand. Kudos!
Jon, will do. On another note last month I purchased two of the Blake McKay shoes. One black and one brown of the double monk straps. These are not the higher-end Italian line, but the leather is soft and fit is comfortable. So far so good.
Thanks for the review. I don't wear these more formal styles, pretty much exclusively the "sneaker" type. I bought a pair of the Reid in black. I compare them to my M. Gemi sneakers in style, and I do not like the Becketts as much. Two reasons. The Reids are just slightly more narrow. And two, they have higher rubber sole on the edges, so actually there is less leather used when you look down or from the side. Don't get me wrong, I like a chunky sole on my sneakers. But I feel the Reids cheap out a bit with the minimum amount of leather in the toe area. They feel a bit more cramped, less roomy. Not a terrible fit but not as comfortable. So unless they come out with a new sneaker style...I won't be purchasing from them again unfortunately.
It was because of your review that I tried them. Definitely fantastic product for the price, one of the best values for your money out there. Ordered the Dean Oxfords in Tan and just recently ordered the All white Reid sneaker.
Also, Thursday Boot Co.’s new shoe line is another alternative if you don’t want to jump to Allen Edmonds. Ordered their Aviator (Brogue Wingtip) in Mahogany and it’s one of the best shoes I’ve owned.
@The Kavalier, I really love your channel for men's haberdashery. I ordered two pairs of Beckett Simonon shoes from the June campaign because of your previous videos. Thanks for the insight Jon and keep up the good work. When you get a chance, you should take the time to polish your entire collection. It will not only help with the longevity, will also help the appearance of your investments.
For a guy that mostly wear Alden, Allen Edmond's and at the high end Edwards Green and John Lob. I do like their look when I came across their shoe site. It would appear that the leather is pretty soft from the start. For me that is not necessarily a good thing as I am hard on my shoes even through I take care of them with shoe trees and always keep them with a good shine. I would rather have a little tougher leather that will over time get soft after wearing them not so much right out of the box. I do like the price point however, the wait and Blake Stitch I am not really sure what that will be over the Good Year as time goes by. Thank you for the video and I might give them a chance if their customers service has gotten better over the years since the style forum did a review a very years back. As I see craft of my Alden are almost the full price (175.00) of a pair of their.
I just recently subscribed to your channel and I love the setup of your videos. Helpful and also entertaining. I literally binge watched your videos not because I needed recommendations on shoes or suits but because your videos are fun. Keep going!
I know it's been 2.5 years since this video, look into a JR Sole when resoling your shoes along with maybe a Lulu or triumph toe tap. Another strong suggestion, Saphir polish and saddle soap. Thank you for time and informative video. Love your collection, just bought me a pair of the split toe, GREAT shoe for the price.
It's funny, I've been looking into a new pair of shoes and this company came up a few times. I am really happy that there is a review of them on this channel. I needed a pair, or wanted, rather, of boots. I'm used to the more Dockers like style, but thought maybe looking for a more dressy style would be better. I have an All Saints pair that's been a favorite for years. Even with some upkeep, they are starting to look their age. I do believe I will be getting a pair from Beckett and Simonon and that is partially due to the good word of mouth from Jon.
They don’t make anything narrower than a D width. I contacted them and I ask about their shoes, and was told that they did not market any of their styles to a man like myself who wears a narrow shoe. Very sad!
Great roundup! Have you looked into Cobbler Union shoes? VERY interested in your thoughts on them. Definitely a higher price point, but still a little less than AE at full tilt.
I've had mixed experiences with Beckett. Two of my three shoes have a squeak in the sole. Only fix is to restrict the room within the shoe via an insert and thereby limit the flex.
Just ordered my first pair. Tan oxfords. Due to me in May! This review turned me onto your channel. I’ll let you know how I like the shoes once in hand!
Sir, I can listen to you talk all day. I'm especially a fan of your videos where you talk about brand history/ fashion industry. I highly believe you should consider doing a podcast. To your success 🍻
I've said it before, but I really love my Beckett Simonons and i'm glad I stumbled upon that video which turned me to your channel. Can you do a review for Cobbler Concierge? Paul Evans suggests the brand and it would be really useful for those who do not have access to a good cobbler for resoling/remanufacturing. Also, what's the deal with Meermin?
If Cobbler Concierge could fix my meermin I’d be a very happy guy. meermin still not resolved. Now trying to get my shipping costs back AND shoes refunded. Total PITA
I’m a brannock 12D/E and the Beckett Simonon boots in 12 fit pretty darn good. However I wear them with medium to thicker socks for comfort. Do you suppose I would size down for the loafer (as they are worn without socks)?
I keep hearing Quality and longevity but are they comfortable? I have Arthritis and I have to wear insoles to cushion the impact. If I wear insoles with these. Would that affect their performance? Good video thank you.
Some of your shoes appear to be ready for recrafting. Perhaps you could try out the Hanger Projects' new redrafting service? It looks very promising. Thanks for another great video!
The Kavalier That is what I'm afraid of. I think they're overhyped tbh. Have been considering B&S as a Christmas present to myself. Thanks for all your videos btw. Very informative.
The Kavalier, find yourself a veteran that was good at shining to help you. Kirby over at the hanger project has some videos that aren’t bad on the subject. Also, Saphir makes great polish and products but is a bit pricey. Lincoln stain wax is much cheaper, effective, and an American company.
Dude I like your collection however your shoes will look better wear better if they were shined. I’m a fan of Allen Edmonds I have at least 10 pairs when took worn out get them shined I get way more compliments
Darn, their marketing campaign is effective, just signed up for a second pair. Hahaha. Normally, I buy from Bexley out of France (but made in Portugal). Now the long wait until November. :)
Thanks for your videos. I already have a collection of AE. I know BS are not in that range, but I am thinking about buying Meermin. Which do you think is better, Meermin or Beckett, talking about product quality ( leather, sole, construction...) Thanks again...!
You have a lot of oxfords in your collection. You wear them more casually with chinos or just dress trousers? Been looking to add some oxfords but afraid they'd look too dressy at work.
Would you recommend B&S Dowler Captoe boot or Thursdsy Boot Captain captoe? Do you have a preference for one brand vs the other? Prices are pretty close...
I have a question for you, I’ve bought size 11 shoes from Allen Edmonds, Wolf and Sheppard, and the dress shoes fit great, with the exception of one pair my loafers from wolf and Sheppard. I’m going to buy a pair from B.S., but would you recommend a half size smaller?
good video. you must like them due to how many pairs you have. A little skeptical on quality but ive never worn a pair so I no sh@#!!!! I mean nothing. If they are close to Meermin quality then thats awesome. However Meermin is selling a 200 goodyear welted !!!! They are just kicking it in the industry. Things will get more interesting as we start to see excellent craftsmen from the far east. China is producing some young top shoemakers who have studied from all over the world and brought what they learned back to their country. China more than ever is getting to feel and see what a quality shoe can do. For me, I have caught the bug of the snob!!! Yes, I wont stop till I have every design Justin Fitzpatrick creates!!!!!! What a Legend. Have to admit Im not a big fan of his blog but he can design a shoe!!!!!!
Thanks for introducing me to this brand. I started with Allen Edmonds and and these shoes are as good or better quality/craftmanship.

T 22 they run normal sizing but they only have a normal width. They don’t do narrow or wide but do run true to size.
@@aaronarguelles8322 how long have you owned your Beckett Simonons? Are they durable and do you think they will last a long time?

Try Cobbler Union! They're absolutely awesome for the price.
Si, pero los de Cobbler Union son mas caros.

You certainly are a fan - fourteen pairs ! I will give them a try as I am in the market for some black oxfords.

The Kavalier Oh I'm definitely looking forward to that!
Good video, but I have got to say you need to polish your shoes man. They will last longer if you take care of them; none of them are polished.
The Beckett Simonon shoes are awesome. Unfortunately no wide sizes. Do you have any brands you would recommend that come in wide?
This may be a little off topic, but I'd like to see him review both the Red Wing 6" Chelsea boot and the Red Wing Caverly Chukka.
Thanks for the info I love shoes I started with Cole Hann & Johnston & Murphy now I have some MAGNANNI & Allen Edmonds

I've had mixed experiences with Beckett. Two of my three shoes have a squeak in the sole. Only fix is to restrict the room within the shoe via an insert and thereby limit the flex.
Thier styles are so beautiful. If I was on a budget hands down I'd go with Becket Sims

I love my tan double monks from Simonon.
I'm South Africa, bet if I buy I will get em after 6 months.
Very nice. Love them.
How does the leather quality of Beckett Simonon compare to the leather quality of Thursday Boots?
Great recap! Where would rank these vs Thursday, Ace Marks, and Meermin?
Awesome video! I love my BS shoes and I want more but I dont love the waiting period
Agreed. Glad you like them!
How long did you have to wait for shoes
Sir, I can listen to you talk all day. I'm especially a fan of your videos where you talk about brand history/ fashion industry.
I highly believe you should consider doing a podcast. To your success 🍻

The Kavalier I guess I should look before saying anything 😂
I've said it before, but I really love my Beckett Simonons and i'm glad I stumbled upon that video which turned me to your channel. Can you do a review for Cobbler Concierge? Paul Evans suggests the brand and it would be really useful for those who do not have access to a good cobbler for resoling/remanufacturing. Also, what's the deal with Meermin?
If Cobbler Concierge could fix my meermin I’d be a very happy guy. meermin still not resolved. Now trying to get my shipping costs back AND shoes refunded. Total PITA
Unfortunately, Beckett Simonon shoes are in standard D width. Too small for my wide feet (EE width).
Thank you. Very informative. I now plan to order shoes from Beckett Simonon based on your review.
What about Beckett and Simonon vs Meermin?
Did you wear those in combat?
Get some shoe care going, hoss!
ReconMan8654 I was thinking the same, my man needs to give his shoe's some love.
You are knocking out Vlogs this past week..im so hooked..keep it up 👍
Thank you Dale!
The Kavalier ...My pleasure..you very likable
The Kavalier would you rather buy a Beckett Simonon or a Thursday Boot Co. dress shoes and why?
I’m a brannock 12D/E and the Beckett Simonon boots in 12 fit pretty darn good. However I wear them with medium to thicker socks for comfort. Do you suppose I would size down for the loafer (as they are worn without socks)?

Ordered my first pair today. excited.
Sounds like you have a preference for these over Meermin. Did you ever get that Meermin shoe warrantied properly?
Shipped them back for $50 they came back unfixed and I still don’t have a refund. Terrible experience but I’m still trying.
The Kavalier That is what I'm afraid of. I think they're overhyped tbh. Have been considering B&S as a Christmas present to myself. Thanks for all your videos btw. Very informative.
If you want them by Christmas be sure to buy them three months ahead of time! ;-)
Nice collection! Looking to get my first pair this summer. How would you rank these against Ace Marks or Allen Edmonds 2nds?
How do these compare in quality to Allen Edmonds? Same or inferior? Which would you prefer? Thank you for your review.

I already have a collection of AE. I know BS are not in that range, but I am thinking about buying Meermin. Which do you think is better, Meermin or Beckett, talking about product quality ( leather, sole, construction...)
Thanks again...!
I enjoyed your video. One of the best reviews I have seen on this brand. Thanks you.
Thank you! Certainly one of my favorite and best shoe brands out there right now
Just ordered my first pair 😎
Thank you 👍
Comfort compared to wolf and shepherd, ace marks, Paul Evans? Future video 😉
The Kavalier, did you size down in your loafers? I just got mine today and they are a little loose.
You have a lot of oxfords in your collection. You wear them more casually with chinos or just dress trousers? Been looking to add some oxfords but afraid they'd look too dressy at work.
I wear them most of the time with dark straight denim I think that's a great business casual look!
How does the sizing of the BS shoes compare to Allen Edmonds? Looking to get a pair, just wanna nail the size.
A complete shoe collection next!!!
For some reason I want some bacon and eggs.
Always enjoy your videos
Great video! BTW, loafers don't look good in shorts! Wear a light pant.
Have you tried doing full JR resoles before? Cost a bit more but will last and wear much more durable for your most worn shoes!
Looking into that. Sounds interesting!
Charles tyrwhitt has a nice collection would you consider trying?
Gotta love that bacon and eggs picture in the back.
Would you recommend B&S Dowler Captoe boot or Thursdsy Boot Captain captoe? Do you have a preference for one brand vs the other? Prices are pretty close...
I want to compare the two but I’ve had trouble getting my size in Thursday. Will get them soon
Great info, nice collection. Thanks!
I’d go same size as AEs. Loafers are hit or miss in sizing but all of my shoes are 45
The Kavalier thank you!!
What color are the loafers you got from Beckett Simonon??
How is the sizing on the horsebit (Beaumont) loafer? Thanks in advance!
I need a pair of black cap toe oxfords so I'll take a look on their site.
Review some pleather dress shoe companies. I don’t want to buy leather but need dress shoes!
Tyrone Fountain I like this idea for the humane conscious option.
@@danielguy1891 So we should just throw the hide in the trash after we have already slaughtered these animals for food? Sounds wasteful.
@@drewmeyerhoeffer467 A lot of animals are slaughtered for only their hides.
Hey Kavalier, how does Beckett Simmion campare to jack Erwin? Great video love your shoe collection working on one of my own.
That would be a great comparison! Haven’t covered Jack Erwin in a few years. Will do an update!
@@The_Kavalier Thanks
Are you doing a loafer round up any time soon?
How would you compare B.S. to Jack Erwin?
How are these for wide sizes? I'm a 9 3E and a bit leary to buy from them as a result.
God the prices on Paul Evans went up again. I really hope they still do the new years sale thing. I got the Poitier double monks for only $124
Yes, they are pricey, but man are they comfortable! The most comfortable shoes I've ever worn.
does beckett simonon ships the shoes out of the Unites States?
Lol, the first time you mentioned resoled in this video, I thought you said resold.
Hey kavalier, I was wondering how many pairs in total do you own ? thanks
Ehat do u choose between Thursday books & beckett simonon?
Doesn't look like the leather uppers age that well. It looks like thin-ish leather.
Which are better Bekkett or Meerim?
Small brands, good things 😎
Which horsebit loafer is that?
good video. you must like them due to how many pairs you have.
What type of watch are you wearing?
Any thoughts on Ace Mark brand?
Do you need dr. Scholls for these?
Does Beckett Simonon have Goodyear welted shoes??! I’ve never seen them
They did several years ago. Haven't done a collection like that for a while
They do not. They are Blake stitched.
I wear a E size would the be to tight?
