Thanks Llama for this! I tried it and after a while standing and moving a little bit the souls started to do the letters. It took a little time but worked. It was on nightmare dif. Then I cleared all the decent zones in the game and get some really good stuff. Thanks!!!
Going to town, then coming back after 4 were shooting me for a minute caused them to immediately perform the ritual once i entered back into Plains of Despair!!!
I had a older friend one ladder named Kel who used to full clear the game on their zon.. i wonder if they utilized this cause i never understood how they found things that they gave to me all the time. Gosh it was so long ago. I hope you're doing well Kel!
Some test results: - Got letters on ladder hell souls - Went act 1 stony/cold plains, cleared with MF27. Result: 1 unique, 2 rares, some magics. Mostly damaged/eth/regular/superior whites. - Cleared normal cows with MF 27. Result: 0 uniques, 1 rare, some magics (cow king dropped 1). Mostly damaged/eth/regular/superior whites. Results currently not conclusive to say if it worked or not. Will have to do more runs. But for people who think that after this they will be showered with rares/uniques/sets - it won't happen.
I went and reproduced this easter egg with my javazon with around 100mf, then went around clearing all lev 85 areas and all act bosses. Honestly it didn't feel like I had any MF bump at all. (online non-ladder). Maybe I just wasn't too lucky. Very cool find nonetheless!!
mf is not that useful. people greatly overestimate how useful mf is. the cap for effective mf is 250 for uniques. once you reach like 300-400ish mf (would have to double check the math, going off memory), youre sitting at around 230 effective mf towards uniques. its gonna take hundreds and thousands of mf after that to get any more effective mf
@@tarrantwalter524 your numbers are off. First of all, there is not a "cap" sins its a curve. And 300-400 mf, will not bring you 230 effective MF towards uniqes. The formula is (MF*250)/(MF+250), always rounded down. Example : 792mf translates to 190 effective MF towards uniqes, 810 -> 191, 828-> 192, etc. In perspective going from 700 to 800 mf, will increase your effective MF towards uniques with only 5%. I don't think mf is overrated. It's an amazing stat, but IF, and only IF, it doesn't slows your gameplay. The number 200-300 mf is mentioned alot, because most builds can reach that number, without sacrificing too much of their other gear and thus slowing their kill speed. With that been said - most players will not need crazy high MF, unless, their goal, is for example to collect every single unique item ingame (something called the "holly grail"), in which case your are trying to optimize every aspect of your build, to help find those one-in-a-million unique items. Keep in mind - while extremely rare, most of those items are not as usefull, so not alot of players are looking for them, brining us back to why most players don't need to overstack MF.
@@Eld1abl0n3gr0 I believe there is a weird interaction, where if you have too much mf some items have less chance to drop than if you would have fe. a 50 less mf. I believe I remember it from Andariel when I was farming for tal rasha's amulet.
Hello mr Lama, I was wondering something. Since we found that secret after all these years. I know this sounds tough but do you think if you get a game with the other easter egg the stained glass and then lure them to near that? Do you think that might have some sort of interaction as well???
There must be another poart to the equation; I've gone through a tone of healing pots and they're still not forming any letters. Closest I've gotten was them making a star with me in the middle.
Such a cool discovery. Just do this with your nova Sorc, singer barb or Bowszon (any character that naturally lacks MF) then farm the game , TZ, bosses, AL85’s and repeat. Gonna make the game very fun to play those type of builds and not be stuck on Blizzard Sorc and Hdin just to gear up the lesser played characters. I thinks it’s asome !
So last night I did this with 4 souls and definitely worked. I just got on tonight and accidentally killed the 4th soul . I proc'd confuse on the other 3 souls and all three went into the letters routine. I am pretty sure they were different letters
This is Crazy cool. I just did it but already having 500+ MF I'm not sure how much it really helps. I wonder how long this has been in game and who the hell found it. Still another reason D2r is a top 5 forever game for me.
Hey as I am playing pretty much Offline SSF right now I might have discovered something regarding this Easter Egg. I am 99% sure that it works in offline game even after "Save and Exit" the game. Severel times now I started over again and just for the funs started using this Easter Egg even in Normal. After switching to Nightmare the increased MF still exists. I didn't play around with a MODE with -%MF so no proof or something, but maybe worth testing.
Here's Take 2. Waiting for a Take 3 after people are still skeptical and asking for a specific setup to show numerical proof and or whatever else conditions.
It does a similar thing with 5 souls on the screen, drawing a star pattern. Not sure what kind of buff that gives. Maybe more exp? ua-cam.com/video/eG5tTpgmimw/v-deo.html
Hey did u ever try to do with 5 burning souls...i took 5 by accident and the shape they did was a star (like the one diablo stands on). Mind testing that to see what it does?
What did you mean by "it stacks per letter."? The Souls create like 5 letters per sequence, so 150% MF x5 for 19 hours? Or is it 150% MF per Sequence and not per letter? Does the sequence reset and if so, how? Do I need tp back to town then back to the soul pack to get em to do the sequence again?
for the ppl who didn't believe it, you just have to see how btdiablo works (how negative mf works) and it gives you shitty drop when you have negative mf, and if you think you will start dropping uniques likes crazy, it will also not happening, because diminishing return on high MF, basically your MF find for uniques will just be at 250ish number, while your "magic items" (blue) will shoot thru the roof and makes you almost always find blues, which is shown properly here too, proving that the easter egg does put you in very high MF.
I reproduced this yesterday on HC seasonal, it is 100% legit. btw the mod you play is interesting because Enigma already has everything included 100 mf which kinda breaks the game...
That and/or lightning absorb. And/or a lot of magic damage reduction (like "magic damage reduced by 7" - that includes all elemental damage). And/or a really high level of prayer with replenish life ? Anyway, 75% resistance is clearly a must, but 95% should be much better and not THAT hard to get.
Lightsabre, Wisp Projector for 40% ligtning absorb. Blackhorn's Face and Stormchaser for lightning resist. As amazon I also had Thundergod Vigor belt, Fortitude and Highlord. This gives you 90% light res and 40% absorb. I am surviving on 650 health, no problem.
So this is bound to game and all players that join the server will also benefit from extra mf? Plus it's ~19h per game meaning a single session or until I close D2R game?
Is this in a OLD video? I found you at around d2r launch and never once have I seen any video talking about this? Also, way back when, did the devs tell the community about this easter egg? How could anyone accidentally find this? Lol
I'm genuinely curious to see their modern ethics behind this do they patch it because its clearly good or do they keep it because its been in the game for decades
But does your bowzon have the light res to survive getting the Easter egg done? I will try this on my Mosaic sin, since she got 75 light res with fade on in hell.

I just did this on my Amazon in SoloPlay Hardcore on Nightmare-Diff. It took me quiet a while to get it going but after like 5mins perma-using pots they started the action. Now I will finish NM and gonna tell you if I can feel the MF. Atm I'm running like 30% MF - so should be quiet significant. HfgL u all
I have been doing every run with Easter egg I have notice that with 5 souls it don’t give you magic find I think it gives you bonus exp I say this because I noticed that my exp bar moved up in the chaos sanctuary but I don’t know how to prove it. How should I check this can I get some ideas ?
damn shame diminishing returns hit so hard or this would be worth it. i mustve stacked up to 5000%+ MF but wasn't really getting any more uniques than usual. thanks for the share either way, was fun to try once
3:34 Old School Diablo? ... Diablo 1 has items with negative modifiers. There's a thing called the Naked Sorc Run ... and there's a thing called the Beyond Naked Sorc Run where you would equip all the negative modifier equipment that you find.
This is seriously great for end game, since the ghost spawn at act 4. But I can't seem to understand the meaning of beating the previous bosses and quests with it, since it last only until you beat the game. does that not mean that you have to do it all over again to have it? like, I do this trick, I beat diablo or mephisto and finish the game, then the bonus reset and can't be passed to other character, right? so what gives?
A really good dungeon crawler on the GBA (Shinning Soul II) had the same concepts. People would craft the "unlucky hood" to go into negative item find, but the game was anticipating players to have some item find on top of that so -1 actually took you to the top value instead. Very cool find, llama.
Hahaha, nice joke, but nah. Mf is only part of the equation. To drop an archon staff is not that often to begin with, and then there is still an RNG involved
D2R needs a "Poorman" mode, where creating runewords would be disabled (you can still find runes and use them, but no runewords) and no uniques would drop... So basicaly rare items with some powerful runes or jewels would be best in slot... also maybe some sets would become more viable ? Also, base Teleport CD is 1 minute, to balance it outm for other classes, without enigma :) And make this another option when creating a character -> next to ladder, expansion and hardcore.
The most incredible part of this discovery is that there is a person/group of people who coded this, and knew about it the past 20 years, and kept it a secret this entire time.

Would love to see this effect in a mod that greatly increases monster density! That would really highlight the change.
Good that i did a wind druid. 😅 Just cyclone armor spam until the letters are finished and then get the loot. 😂 Thanks for info !
My guess is it’s actually 18hours since that lines up with 2^16 seconds.
Maan, I never thought I could be taught something new in d2. Fun find.
Neg magic find would be great for finding runeword bases
I vaguely remember a friend had this happen to him around the beginning, we had no idea, and thought it was bugged. Then thought nothing of it.
Some test results:
- Got letters on ladder hell souls
- Went act 1 stony/cold plains, cleared with MF27.
Rng bro
mf is not that useful. people greatly overestimate how useful mf is. the cap for effective mf is 250 for uniques. once you reach like 300-400ish mf (would have to double check the math, going off memory), youre sitting at around 230 effective mf towards uniques. its gonna take hundreds and thousands of mf after that to get any more effective mf
@@Eld1abl0n3gr0 There is a cap since (MF*250)/(MF+250) < 250 (just multiply and compare).
Hello mr Lama, I was wondering something. Since we found that secret after all these years. I know this sounds tough but do you think if you get a game with the other easter egg the stained glass and then lure them to near that? Do you think that might have some sort of interaction as well???
He should use a tin foil hat to made this video
There must be another poart to the equation; I've gone through a tone of healing pots and they're still not forming any letters. Closest I've gotten was them making a star with me in the middle.
Terror Zones with this buff should be nuts.
videos are always 3 times longer than they need to be
Will he do a speedrun testing that? Would be fun
So this is how UA-camrs and streamers have been having crazy drops. Seems like something that the inside community has known about for awhile now.
Ahhh. Glad to be back to D2. Feels right and good.
does it work on d2 lod?
It works with 3 4 5 souls and the spell different letters
Hey mr llama! Hope the family is doing well brother. Keep up the great work
This makes me think we need to revisit the chat gem
Craziest thing in D2.
Hands down.
Ive been playing since 2003 and never knew this. Just nutso.
Thanks Mr. Llama. :)
Because NOONE knew this exept developers until now...
Hey Llama just wanted to say as of rn there is no link in the description pointing to the easter egg video :)
Here's Take 2. Waiting for a Take 3 after people are still skeptical and asking for a specific setup to show numerical proof and or whatever else conditions.
Back on D2 content I love it, can you make a guide with new update on bladesin.
Such an amazing find!!
It does a similar thing with 5 souls on the screen, drawing a star pattern. Not sure what kind of buff that gives. Maybe more exp? ua-cam.com/video/eG5tTpgmimw/v-deo.html
Any particular reason why you guess XP boost? Or just theorizing?
@@HanClinto just a super random guess lol just my hopes and dreams... probably just more mf
@@pk_lab just test it by using a normal level character at a consistent enemy until they take more than 1 kill to get any movement in xp
would love to see a video in which you clear the entire game. Every. single. mob.
That's rather... easy ? Casual ? Not ... that ... interesting ?

Hey did u ever try to do with 5 burning souls...i took 5 by accident and the shape they did was a star (like the one diablo stands on). Mind testing that to see what it does?
:o this needs to be investigated!
It's 150 MF per gloam per letter/barrage, so 150 MF * 4 gloams * 7 letters/barrages = 4200 MF per ritual.
@@darkmaster3411 Thank you!
Research noted 💯
This could be a good series for the research institution. Some low MF builds could be toad af. Setting up might be a pain though 🤷♂️
as someone who just cant get into d4, glad to see you back at D2!
for the ppl who didn't believe it, you just have to see how btdiablo works (how negative mf works) and it gives you shitty drop when you have negative mf, and if you think you will start dropping uniques likes crazy, it will also not happening, because diminishing return on high MF, basically your MF find for uniques will just be at 250ish number, while your "magic items" (blue) will shoot thru the roof and makes you almost always find blues, which is shown properly here too, proving that the easter egg does put you in very high MF.
the mod that btneanderthal made?
@@BMPK yes this is the mod
@@johant73 he sure has come a long way since pod
I reproduced this yesterday on HC seasonal, it is 100% legit. btw the mod you play is interesting because Enigma already has everything included 100 mf which kinda breaks the game...
Do we know that it stacks?
Why is his inventory so big?
This is awesome only thing that sucks is there didn't seem to be any change to my item find
I did the Easter egg and it worked the one and only first time. It's a one time deal fools.
So do you basically need to have 95 light rez in order to survive the initial soul barrage before the easter egg kicks in?
Plus it's ~19h per game meaning a single session or until I close D2R game?
wow two videos in one day.
Does it work in all difficulties, or only hell?
just a though 66,666 seconds = 18.518333 hours
I was looking in Diablo 2 Resurrected files and found some peculiarities…
Wirt’s Leg with 3 Ist Runes. Best cow run ever!
This is what happens when you build a game from love
That's so cool. Now the prices of Tgods and whisp protector will go up :D
Is this in a OLD video? I found you at around d2r launch and never once have I seen any video talking about this? Also, way back when, did the devs tell the community about this easter egg? How could anyone accidentally find this? Lol
If this test is the proof… which obviously it appears to be, how long does the magic find bonus last. Are you going to run THAT test with this mod?
16bit limit in seconds is around 18 to 19 hours so it makes sense
Do you have to do it every game???
this is soooo badass. dope video
I'm genuinely curious to see their modern ethics behind this
do they patch it because its clearly good
or do they keep it because its been in the game for decades
THAT DAMN GEM DOES SOMETHING I KNOW IT
But does your bowzon have the light res to survive getting the Easter egg done?
I will try this on my Mosaic sin, since she got 75 light res with fade on in hell.
Lightsabre, Wisp Projector for 40% ligtning absorb. Blackhorn's Face and Stormchaser for lightning resist. Thundergod Vigor belt, Fortitude and Highlord you should already have as amazon. This gives you 90% light res and 40% absorb. I am surviving on 650 health, no problem.
mr lama? i can change gear after the soul ritual? or the mf boost gettings removed? greetings
HfgL u all
Def. worth it. Realy felt the raised MF.
You can do this “soul dance” in 1.00 too!!! It’s there from the very begining
I have been doing every run with Easter egg I have notice that with 5 souls it don’t give you magic find I think it gives you bonus exp I say this because I noticed that my exp bar moved up in the chaos sanctuary but I don’t know how to prove it. How should I check this can I get some ideas ?
Each monster provide a certain amount of xp. If you can identify the monsters, you can calculate if the xp gain is the expected amount of
damn shame diminishing returns hit so hard or this would be worth it. i mustve stacked up to 5000%+ MF but wasn't really getting any more uniques than usual. thanks for the share either way, was fun to try once
3:34 Old School Diablo? ... Diablo 1 has items with negative modifiers. There's a thing called the Naked Sorc Run ... and there's a thing called the Beyond Naked Sorc Run where you would equip all the negative modifier equipment that you find.
4th letter is a heart
This is so cool! Actually kinda game changing.
Does this work in D2 original ?
I wounder if it affects the hole party ? I like his mod made the names shorter letting them take up les space for highlighting items.
loot filters are great, just don't use one online you will get banned
Do it with Perfect Gem activated.
Holy cow, this is amazing!
Hi , can this ritual be performed on normal difficulty ? or nightmare ?
and where is the best place to do this any ideas how to make it easier every time you create game ?
i want Project Diablo 2 mod in D2R
This is seriously great for end game, since the ghost spawn at act 4. But I can't seem to understand the meaning of beating the previous bosses and quests with it, since it last only until you beat the game. does that not mean that you have to do it all over again to have it? like, I do this trick, I beat diablo or mephisto and finish the game, then the bonus reset and can't be passed to other character, right? so what gives?
How was this found out? Did someone decompile the game to find clues or did someone find this legitimately?
I'm curious too. Maybe he said it in the other video clip. Given how old the game is, both are possible :))
A really good dungeon crawler on the GBA (Shinning Soul II) had the same concepts. People would craft the "unlucky hood" to go into negative item find, but the game was anticipating players to have some item find on top of that so -1 actually took you to the top value instead. Very cool find, llama.
2023 and still didn’t know this
Dang bro, you could’ve found mang songs like 2 years earlier
Hahaha, nice joke, but nah. Mf is only part of the equation. To drop an archon staff is not that often to begin with, and then there is still an RNG involved
D2R needs a "Poorman" mode, where creating runewords would be disabled (you can still find runes and use them, but no runewords) and no uniques would drop... So basicaly rare items with some powerful runes or jewels would be best in slot... also maybe some sets would become more viable ?
Also, base Teleport CD is 1 minute, to balance it outm for other classes, without enigma :)
And make this another option when creating a character -> next to ladder, expansion and hardcore.
It's called classic idiot. 99% of items you use are rares.
Is this single player only or does this work online?
