The Pokemon Presents has passed, and for the most part I see the majority of people complaining about at least one of the announcements. Whether it's the Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl remakes getting the negative attention, or the Legends: Arceus game, neither seems to be what people have been clamoring for for so long. These games are more similar to Sword and Shield than you think, in terms of production at least.

And it's not like it's hard to give life to 3D models because they've done it before in games like Stadium, Stadium 2, Colosseum, and Gale of Darkness.

I'm a former Pokemon fan. I never really cared about the Pokemon themselves, just the gameplay itself. And SMT does that better.

@@malice5121 Nintendo can give Pokemon to Atlas, a developer who actually gives a shit and is the godfather of the Monster catching rpgs but we are stuck with Game Freak making mobile quality assets for $60 game. It is not out of the question since some of my favorite Zelda games, the Oracle games, are made by Capcom not Nintendo

Anyone saying they "still have a year" for Legends has no idea how video game development works. 1 year is not enough time for the type of polish they need.
exactly. one year is maybe enough time to fix issues found in a beta release at best. and that's assuming the beta went alright. that footage was looking more like an alpha vertical slice.
1 year might be enough considering the amount of funding they have. If they had good organisation and hired enough people 1 year *could* be enough. It's pretty unlikely though, I doubt this would be enough time for the game.

My issue with Arceus game is that, knowing Gamefreak, it'll either be a complete mess or, if it's good, the idea is abandoned and we never get anything like it again
It will either do well and they'll use it as an excuse to put less effort into the next one since it'll sell well anyway. Or it'll flop and they'll use it as an excuse to go back to making garbage since trying something ambitious didn't work.

@Kodiak KDK-85X Look, I get the hate. I do. But I got Sword and Shield at launch and was ready to hate it. Oh boy did I hate most of it. But, in my mind, it’s still Pokémon. The Pokémon themselves are spot on(besides the god awful starters, Coalossal and Grapploct), and the music is good. I still shit on the game constantly, to this day there’s a screenshot of a gate clipping through the ground on my switch, but I also know that there are other industries that do the exact same thing year after year and they don’t get crap for it. For example, the NBA 2K games are normally applauded for how they work, even though it is normally the same game with a new skin every year, just like Pokémon. Granted, Pokémon has far more money and fans to please, so it’s disappointing to see they aren’t trying that hard. And then I remember that since it’s such a large brand, the game developers aren’t in control anymore. It’s like Disney selling the license for Star Wars games to EA. And I would love for them to take another break, I mean look at the jump from X/Y to Sun/Moon! They took a year off, sacrificed that third game so many of you bitched about, and then made a game that had higher fidelity outside of battles, that ran really well on a new 3DS. And before you say: “Oh, well they shouldn’t need to be on a new DS,” God Of War 2018 runs on both the OG PS4 and the PS4 pro, and it was used to push the pro since it ran so much better on it. But there are cons to their practices. Since the Anime was running low on steam, Pokémon Company International forced Game Freak to push out a slow and tedious mess, and then sell a better version of the same game a year later and, no matter how many improvements they tried to make, the fans once again bitched that they made two games. I feel bad for the development team. They probably try their fucking hardest to make the game as good as they can, but Pokémon Company international is probably ran by greedy fucks that limit their budget so severely that they can’t add too many new hires or work on this game well. That and the burnout at this point must be exhausting, as they’ve worked on the same game franchise over and over for 25 years. People say “give the franchise to another developer,” but don’t realize it’s probably not the developer’s fault.
I don’t know. Maybe I’m just a mindless consumer though, that spent 250+ hours on Sword and Shield because of the experiences I had with my friends.
Don't be too harsh on 3fps Chingling. For it, every moment existing is suffering and it's just doing its best to survive.
I want to save the chingling but I also dont want to spend 60 dollars buying the graphical equivalent of a stroke

I really think both games need to be pushed back at least a year. I would be perfectly fine with waiting 3 more years to get either game to have a chance of Pokémon raising their standards and putting actual effort in.
They do but they wont because of the anime and card game. They have to release them in line with those to keep their higher ups and share holders happy.

During the 2000s Sonic games were basically yearly releases, now in 2010 a game comes out each 4 years and each is more and more ass than the last

Why do people keep thinking that the games seem to be least priority part of the media, when other parts of the media technically depends on the games, and has other ways to make the schedule flexible - in the heyday of Gen 3 for example things like Battle Frontier in the anime and Delta Species in TCG existed showing more creative ways to extend a generation's shelf life.

Pokemon as a game series deserves better. The fans don't lmao. They keep defending stuff like this everywhere I look. Of course there are the ones condemning gamefreak and the pokemon company but the overwhelming majority I see are defending it. And if you defend mediocrity, you deserve mediocrity.
People really said Sword and Shield were amazing games. "Oh, well I enjoyed it" Is one line I see all the damn time.
They're completely blind to the fact that the older games had substantially more passion and effort behind them. Then we get shown a poorly executed style for a remake fans have been screaming for for 8 years and the most abjectly pre alpha looking footage of a game coming out in less than a year. And they still defend it.

@@Crash_Knight It could also be argued that many of these people never knew better, Pokemon is old enough now that there are kid these days that started during gen 6 or 7.
The single largest issues Pokemon has is that it needs to make less money, in other words people need to reject Pokemon games, an actual outcry about the quality of Pokemon games needs to happen as well, when you hit these 2 points and for an extended amount of time then you will see change, anything else will lead forward nothing or almost none existent changes that may or may not even be based on feedback cause it's not like Game Freak has any open communication with there customers and or fans.

One of the things people who follow gamimg need to stop saying is "it's still in development" especially when we're talking about pokemon/nintebdo
First they're implying game freak are worried about any of our consumer nitpicks, and second it shows these people really need to research how games are developed. Because a game coming out in a year, that is ready to release a trailer is definitely past its fucking alpha stage. "still in its alpha" snh. It's like people think the production cycle is literally a year, like they just started a couple hours before the trailer release. Don't mean to be a dick but that's really naive and they wouldn't say that if they cared to look into the actual game development process.
Whatever complaint or flaw that can be pointed out is most likely to stay. I doubt GF cares what we think about one chingling. Best case scenario is it just runs better on Switch Pro.

I absolutely hate the argument that "But every other Pokémon game used chibi over world sprites." The reason all of the 2D games used them is because they were all made on mobile consoles. The Gameboy, DS, etc. could get away with less detailed environments because they couldn't handle big sprawling worlds. What you saw on the screen was an interpretation of what was actually going on.
This Pokemon game is on the switch, a console that can run much more than the 3DS. Not only does a 3D chibi art style look way more awkward than if it were a 2D sprite, It basically shows that they didn't want to go through the effort of creating a good looking game. I highly doubt that the art design was a "Stylized Choice," and if it was, it isn't very pleasing to look at.

Exactly. I’m 100% sure if gamefreak somehow had the technology to make the red & blue games in the style of sword and shield (I.E having realistic proportions and scaling, and… being in 3D with models, obviously) they would, because it looks objectively better if you’re going to/want to use models. If you’re going for a smaller scale, which is what they obviously had to do, you obviously have to use sprites which can obviously still look good but for different reasons. If you have the option to use models or smaller sprites, don’t make models that emulate the smaller sprites.

My fav part is that the world is more realistic but they use the same old plastic models from less realistic games. Which look fine there but quite odd next to a different art style

I think the problem with that is that in this generation of gaming people would only be interested in 3d modles opposed to 2d sprites
Pokémon X/Y looks fantastic to be honest because it has that perfect blend between polished, simple 3d and pixelated art. The models with their simple colors and shadows as well as the thin black outline really makes the official Pokémon art come to life beautifully without it looking out of place or jarring. It's possible

@@pogfection787 Well, I would argue that only good pokemon games are spin-offs like ranger or snap.
You can criticize pretty much every title for being lazy in one way or another. Gamefreak was improving for a moment, but for couple of generations now they're mostly testing how much they can cut from the games and still have selling hit.
You know how everything is praising Johto for having Kanto in it? Yeah, it was nice, but Kanto was quite empty. And level progression? 35 level wild mons in post game? Why Elite four in Johto were using mostly Kanto Pokemons? Why some Johto pokemon are found only in Kanto part? Why most Johto towns looks so barren and empty? Why Charizard shares stats with typhlosion?
I could go on and on and on. And I could do the same for every generation.
The only good thing about Pokemon series is battling. Rest never was meant to be good.
I think the most irritating take on this for me is how people kept using Link's Awakening as a comparison to BDSP's artistic direction. The ONLY thing that's even somewhat comparable is the bare basics of the chibi style. The reason Link's Awakening worked well for a GB remake and looked good was because of its stylized textures and lighting, things that are almost fully missing from BDSP.
Legends is extremely concerning not just because it's Game Freak tackling an entirely new genre/style (and the major technical issues), but because I have a feeling they're going to be using the early, undeveloped Sinnoh region setting as an excuse to not actually put any effort into sculpting an interesting, LIVING, region with memorable landmarks. In terms of the technical problems, I've seen people theorizing that a release date will be announced alongside the Switch 2.0/Pro to try and say "If you want a decently running Pokemon game, why don't you go buy our NEW Switch!" And knowing Game Freak/Nintendo, that'd seem about right...

Yeah, we talk about how they are doing exactly that in the Digimon community in south america. The only reason why they made it in the past is to have an excuse to not have to make actual cities. The only place they have to actually make is the starting town that way.
It's pretty sad considering that they have a truly absurd amount of resources to make games. Even if they only use the money generated by Sword and Shield to make it, taht thing sold 20 million copies, they could make half a dozen of really austonding games with that.
Meanwhile, Digimon sold 2 million copies with Digimon Story Cyber Sleuth, and for the next game it looks like they are aiming to have it look like the Tales of Arise game, using it as an example of how it'll look.
This is the difference between a franchise that will not die no matter what happens, and a franchise that is constantly in the verge of death.
Relaxation to do whatever they want VS Desperation to make a good game that sells.

some people for some reason prioritize getting constant content vs letting gamefreak take more than just one year on a game. like, ive been waiting for sinnoh remakes forever now, but just because im a whore for my boy turtwig doesnt mean im gonna accept garbage, but fr some reason it seems im in a minority on tht bc people are defending gamefreak like its a one man production. this isnt a steam five dollar passion product, this is a multi million team built full price game, and it looks like it was made for a console dated over a decade ago. ppl wuld rather have constant new content than a properly finished product, and this mindset is just enabling gamefreak to run this franchise further into th ground

I'm glad someone has a realistic perspective on how bad that trailer was for legends. I've spent this whole time wondering how the hell anyone was getting excited over what looked like an empty, unfinished mess.
Devil's advocate, but at the very least it's a different direction from a structure perspective and seems to offer different gameplay options at least in terms of traversal according to some of the leaks. Does it look good? I don’t think so. But for some people, the sheer novelty and finally getting open-world Pokemon is enough.

I would but it gotta be worth my time and money. I was ok until sun/moon2. I bought it hopefully thinking it would be better but i dropped it. Sw/sh was just bad and now this. I'm more cautious so I'll just wait if it improves
You know I really wouldn't have minded diamond and pearl being in the let's go art style. I find let's go to be cute. But now I'll forever be disappointed that I have to look at chibi dawn half the time. Just makes me think of fucking pop figures and nendoroid two things I'm really not a fan of.

Same here. I don't mind half-chibi type stuff (think Let's Go or Final Fantasy IX) but I've never liked full-on chibis.
I also hate how they're just reverting progress with every game. I feel like every step forward we have we get 2 steps backward. "Oh we had a really good story and characters in this game. In next one we will add 1 new mechanic and slightly better graphics but absolutely dog shit story and characters. The fans will love it!!!"
Every single game since XY has had people stress that "GAME FOOTAGE NOT FINAL" fine print only for it to more or less be what the game looks like in almost every case.
Only because they have to believe it's not true. Cause God forbid the game actually looks bad and nothing changed.
I know this but still enjoy the art styles theyve chosen. As long as they fix the framerates and the gameplays fun I dont care as much about looks because in my mind pokemon was never about how the graphics looked. It was about how enjoyable the gameplay was.
What's funny is that "GAME FOOTAGE NOT FINAL" usually means the exact opposite of what they think it does, the reason for that watermark came about because of a lawsuit regarding Aliens: Colonial Marines using footage from high-end PC workstations and claiming that was what the console versions would look like. In other words, if you see "GAME FOOTAGE NOT FINAL" in footage, it means that the game is likely to look worse, not better.
Y'know, I enjoyed games like XY, Sun and Moon, ORAS, and even USUM. But I'll tell you what, while Sun and Moon felt like GameFreak truly loved the fans and delivered near perfectly on what we all wanted, USUM felt deceitful, making us think that we got sequels when we in fact got just a third version that's barely different. Granted, it has a better after-game as well as the introduction of Ultra Space, but other than that, the game is the exact same.
And then Sword and Shield. I feel like Rob already said all that needs to be said about those games and has proven that GameFreak really doesn't give a shit anymore. It's really upsetting, especially since we're now getting our Diamond and Pearl remakes and our truly open world Pokemon game, but they're failing to live up to the standards that were set previously. You can't give GameFreak the benefit of the doubt on Arceus Legends for being massive and making it so that the game looks good rather than runs well because numerous other Pokemon games came before it and looked fantastic! And don't even get me started on the remakes! They really expect me to enjoy these remakes when the remakes of the previous generations looked like they had more heart and soul put into them?

I agree Pokémon does now have a bad quality but when they say the game footage is not finale, it's because it is not.

Shipping will take 1/2 to 2/3rds of that time itself. Remember you have to ship World Wide. And that can take 6 to 8 months.
yeah, i saw 2022 and thought, oh, like, late 2022 right? holiday title? thats 2 years, seems like gamefreak isnt rushing a game to be made in 1 year for once. then i saw early 2022 and my hopes drained into core of the earth.

Since the days of GSC, GameFreak has struggled to get their games running. I highly doubt this will be the game where they pull out the coding wizardy to make this game work in a year's time.

Can we talk about how Pixelmon, the free Pokémon Minecraft mod, has already done pretty much every open world Pokémon game thing Pokémon Legends is offering, on top of the entirety of Minecraft as well? You're in a free roam world populated by Pokémon, you can catch wild Pokémon without entering a battle, you can be attacked by wild Pokémon, you can see wild Pokémon fighting with other wild Pokémon, etc. That's not mentioning the features Pixelmon has that Legends doesn't seem to have, such as having to make your own pokeballs, different environments with Pokémon that match them, and multi-player.
I'm just saying, if Pokémon Legends turns out to be dull and unfinished, there's literally a Minecraft mod that can fulfill pretty much every promise Pokémon Legends is offering... assuming Game Freak doesn't send them a cease and desist (again) for making a more interesting game.

people think making games like BOTW is the meta for gaming now, so many games are copying this trope and fall flat because they leave worlds empty with no interesting landmarks or alternate paths to explore, no rewarding your sense of exploration. Pokemon in Legends have idle animations, walking animations and attack animations, no different than 3ds games. They could've made them all as expressive as in Snap but nope, more lazy shortcuts to cut costs and have the brainless fanbase buy all copies of the game for triple the budget they spent.
People need to learn that "Game footage not final" doesn't mean the developers intend to replace something that is bad, it means that they COULD add or remove something, and we saw how that went with Game Freak's last games...

Alpha is LITERALY THE SECOND STAGE IN DEVELOPMENT. When the game is months before release it should be in the next to final stage, period.
Especially since post production is a thing. The last 6 or so months of game development are spent doing things like printing and shipping the physical media, prepping networks, submitting copies of the game to various rating organizations, ect. These aren't negotiable, the best that can be done is using that 6ish months to make a day 1 patch that hopefully addresses all the major bugs discovered in that interim.
"Early 2022", at its most generous interpretation, being, say, mid to late May, gives this game literally like, 8 months of dev time.
8 months, to get from Chingling existing in another plane of reality at 2FPS to something they are going to sell.
Damn looking back legends: arceus was pretty damn creative and they didnt take a single aspect of that game into scarlet and violet except the open world and framerate issues…*sigh*
I’m actually curious on what he thinks of Arceus. While the graphics aren’t the best I’ve been enjoying the gameplay a whole lot. This is the most fun I’ve had with a Pokémon game since Sun and Moon.
That feels like a harsh critic of Legends Arceus. Sun and Moon were not good games, the same hand holding that drove gameplay to a crawl in sword and shield started there. Legends has done away with the hand holding in a way - by putting in an hour long beginning section, but still at least its only at the beginning.
Sorry for dumping on Sun and Moon if you had fun with it thats fine, just wanted to make the point that this is a much better experience.

Honestly, the most alarming thing to me is how people are hardline defending both BD/SP and Legends Arceus from any kind of criticism. Like I’m not out here trying to tell people what they can or can’t like or enjoy, but I do want to talk about some of the more obvious faults present in the trailers.
Adding to that, I think it’s abundantly clear the devs at Game Freak need a lesson or several in optimization, as it seems GF’s only problem solving tool is brute forcing solutions.

Yeah totally get it. I personally really like the style BD/SP has, but I'm not gonna say that people shouldn't be disappointed by it nor will I exempt criticism of these games from people including myself. I dont think I EVER saw a "Footage not final" on a nintendo game that wasn't just the same game when it was released.
You know the funny thing with some games is that they actually say "Game Footage Not Final" not because they want you to expect a better product, but instead a disclaimer in case they actually have to DOWNGRADE a game for things like optimisation should they get too ambitious. This actually happened with Xenoblade X on Wii U because there were graphics that were too much for the Wii U to handle and you can visibly spot the downgrade from earlier trailers to launch. Funny enough even a game like CyberPunk 2077 holds a similar reason as you can see quality dips from early gameplay trailers until launch (not including the gameplay itself).
So that being said, I find it quite funny that out of all the high budget gaming Studio's the one with THE highest grossing franchise is the one that says "Game Footage Not Final" because God forbid it looks any worse than it does lmao
They absolutely have to delay Legends. There's literally no chance in Hell that it will be properly cooked or even al dente by "Early 2022". November 2022 at the earliest.

Or make your own mons game? I've been thinking about this a little, and despite criticism, Sword and Shield have apparently sold quite well and are well liked by a lot of people. But there's definitely a fair number of disgruntled people, and that number may increase if these new games are also lacking in quality. This could be a good time to start working on a competitor to the Pokemon series, but even then I don't think a straight clone is going to work. Pokemon is just too massive of an IP to try and compete with them directly. I think the best way to go would be to create a game that is similar but has its own unique gimmicks, things that could never be done in Pokemon. But I'm not sure what sorts of tweaks you'd make to the formula. Pokemon has a pretty tight formula, which is part of why it's been so successful. If you go mucking about with that formula without knowing what you're doing, you can easily end up with something terrible, as most knockoffs are.
I'd like to point out that in the arceus trailer, some shots look significantly more refined than others. Perhaps a few shots are older and not quite accurate to the quality and progress it's currently at. At least, that's what I'm hoping

A fan game made in unity would probably look better. Unity gets a bad rep( and they kind of deserve it) but some really pretty games can be made on it. I would describe my emotion about Legends as “cautiously optimistic.” Gamefreak has some new, younger employees in their ranks after the SwSh DLC, which was... decent (I thought Isle of Armor sucked but Crown Tundra seemed pretty nice). Plus, if they punted the DP remakes off to another company, there’s a fair chance that Gamefreak actually WANTS to make this game, rather than just being forced to make the same crap over and over until their souls are sucked dry.
My reservations mainly come from the fact that Gamefreak is still doing this project on their own. This isn’t so much because I feel they aren’t that great of developers (they’ve shown they aren’t), but because it makes it feel like something is actively keeping them from getting assistance from other studios. I don’t know if it’s some misguided sense of pride, or a greedy commandment of the higher ups in TPC or Nintendo, but it gets me worried about not just Legends, but all future Legends-like titles. This is something that needs an experienced hand, if not for doing the actual work, than at least for providing guidance.
The crown tundra was the better of the two. I mean, legendary hunts. It was definitely better then IoA
I just dont know anything about the game to be honest Im in no way on the level of "im definitely going to buy it more of a "im actually interested to see what happens and not just to meme on everything they fail at" of course they can fuck up that gain of good faith I have (from masuda basically being fired) and have me find out the game is barren of all joy but I'd honestly like to see more before I make any form of position
At least get help from people who worked on BotW or MHRise - games with beautiful open world maps in a similar style.
It also just angers me that the Pokemon look so generic and flat compared to the big platypus in MHRise. Like he said in the video, no character is expressed from the Pokemon. The flat textures convey no story about how they live.
Crown Tundra to me felt like the only bit of SwSh that wasn't entirely like a final year student project, and even then it falls within the bounds of what could be a really really good final year student project polished up for release.
I'm cautiously pessimistic, I wish I could have any amount of hope for these upcoming games ;w;

Pokemon making games poorly is just a fact of life. Birds sing, fish swim, and pokemon games are a bit crusty. That's nature. Pokemon Sword and Shield were undercooked and disappointing? News at 11.
This is different. Pokemon Legends is THE game that everyone has dreamed of for years. It's the game where you do all the crazy stuff you imagined as a kid. This one is going to sting a lot of people in a different way.
I could just be nuts, but I feel it in my bones. This wave of disappointment is going to be the big one. The camel's back is going to break with this.

@@aprinnyonbreak1290 I see that as something that could be good or bad. If this fails hard enough then maybe Gamefreak will actually listen for once. I do not see that happening at all. If it fails hard enough the other way, the much more likely route, Gamefreak is gonna use it as an excuse to go back to mediocrity. Citing that the last time they tried anything ambitious it failed hard, while willing ignoring their own faults and blaming the poor sales on their usual excuses.

BDSP is GOING (sort of) for the Link’s Awakening style. The problem is it MISSES it by quite a lot. The models are unpolished and there’s very little detail to them, especially compared to Link’s Awakening. I love the style they’re GOING for, but unfortunately they didn’t really get it all the way.
That being said, anyone who says that they look worse than the 3DS games, I’m going to have to respectfully disagree.

Link's Awakening had a very specific style they went for, and put in a lot of effort to reach it.
It LOOKS incredibly simplistic, but if you really look at it, there's a lot of effort that goes into selling the artstyle.
Pokemon, being Pokemon, naturally did none of this effort, and so just went for ultra chibi with tiny proportions, and seems to have either decided "job well done" or are hoping it's close enough for people to not notice that no, it really doesn't look like Link's Awakening at all.

Honestly, considering Arceus is being developed in a japanese game development environment, there won't be much changes from this tech demo to the final release in a year. Changes take a lot of time to be approved and in a year, there's not much time for them to fix everything and make Arceus competent

As someone who's first Pokemon game was emerald.
I never really understood the argument that the original artstyle was 'chibi'. Pokemon on the GBA and DS looked like how they did because they ran on handheld devices. So seeing as how they're going for a 3d chibi style in an effort to... 'recreate' the artstyle only makes me disappointed for these remakes.
Honestly personally I find that the 2d pixel artstyle of Emerald and Platinum aesthetically pleasing as is; and believe that game freak should just buy out the guys behind Octopath Traveler or take a book from other games that use a 2d / pseudo2d artstyle. Pokemon doesn't need to be some massive 3d open world or have 3d graphics all the time.
The only thing that the Pokemon presentation did for me is make me realize that I've pretty much lost my love for the franchise. Even with the intro I was like "Oh my God, get to the point already", and normally I find that type of thing pretty neat.
I mean that's kinda understandable, considering they already did that exact kind of montage back during XY's reveal [I think it was XY? Or maybe it was SuMo, can't remember]
Hell, I wouldn't be surprised if even _that_ wasn't the first time either

It just shows there’s too much dwelling on the past in the TPC, and not enough looking towards the future.
Pokémon has been nothing but disappointing lately. Pokémon blue was my first game, and I grew up with Pokémon fever and everything. Watching the trailer for the remakes and the Legends game, I felt nothing. No excitement, or hopes or anything. Sword and Shield really damaged the franchise in a way for me I don't think I'll ever recover from. Maybe the Legends game will change my mind, but honestly I don't think so.
@@Yoshinator Out of everything I find Bamco's New snap thebest thing pokemon produced for a LONG time and during a livestream Bamco said that whiles it an honor they were HEAVILY budget constrained on it....when Bamco putting litterally no effort into a game produces something better than a mainline game its time to switch Devs permanently. Once again CC2 has been wanting to make a RPG again (.hack is still one they want to continue but market doesnt find them fun anymore) they are getting sick of making "Anime Fighting game" and Pokemon is a great fit for them. (for gods sakes they were begging capcom for them to make Legends 3 they were sick of making naruto games at THAT point.)
No they definitely dragged it out quite a bit, I was waiting for them to acknowledge gen 6 and 7 for the first time in like 3 years but it just took ages

I hope the games will be great but I don't trust them after Sw/Sh fiasco from last time. The footage shown now is 100% final game footage like last time.

You say that like they haven't even started on development, though. They clearly have a lot of the fundamentals already ready to go, based on what they showed off. I'm also thinking that it's probably gonna be a much shorter game than Pokemon games tend to be on average (but I really have no proof of that beyond the small number of areas they showed off).

In no way did I mean that they still need to start development, no idea how you got to that conclusion. And from what I remember this would be a “faithful” remaster aka don’t expect any extra content that wasn’t in the originals.

I think people forget that when Game Freak reveals something, they're pretty much just showing us the final product. Let's Go and Sword and Shield didn't change in the slightest throughout their pre release.
not to mention you couldn't change much in a year even if you tried.
My favorite part is that the "not final" quote only exists because Ubisoft faced multiple lawsuits for DOWNGRADING their games significantly. So in reality, the quote actually means they have every right to make it WORSE.

My first thoughts for the diamond and pearl remakes were “this looks like a mobile game” and then right after I started saying that you just need to slap some oversized arrow controls onto it and it’s a mobile game
Part of me wonders if this was started during their "the switch is going to horribly crash and burn" prediction phase and they were expecting to be able to just make mobile games.
They forgot bout pokemon conquest and colesseum in the recap. HERESY.

I think y’all are the only other people I’ve seen mention these games. They were all such great fun. They made me realize the great potential of Pokémon.
Unfortunately, with GameFreak and Masuda still at the helm, Pokémon will continue to squander its potential for the foreseeable future.

I think my main issue with the DP remakes, is thus far they haven't given me a single reason to play it over the originals. How you manage to make a REMAKE of a DS game look worse then the original DS game blows me away.
A part of me feels like this is a way of going "SEE WE LET SOMEONE ELSE DO POKEMON AND YOU ALL HATED IT!" because people were wanting another developer to make a pokemon game, but I don't think anyone wanted the people behind Pokemon Home to be the ones to do it.
Exactly. And I've told other people this. Why play the DP remakes when they actively admitted they will cut the DP remakes abilities to connect with other generations.
Why play it at that point over the original?
For me it's a matter of "hey, maybe they'll be a good platform for romhacks"
