Yeah, I read a wiki page on it and 28 is the highest amount you can get- you get it by how many boxes are filled up, not whether you're at the endgame or not
I absolutely agree. I just wish you couldn't raise all of your stats to level 10. The limits of EV's allowed for specific builds and strategies; none of which actually exist in Legends: Arceus.
I wouldn't mind IV's if they were much more visible and able to be manipulated manually much better with items or some other mechanic other than breeding. It's just annoying when you catch something rare with a low spawn rate, a legendary where you usually only can catch one copy of it per run or a shiny and then find it has probably the shittest IV's possible or none in the stats that matter for it.
I really like IVs. I like that it makes each pokemon unique stat wise. I do wish they were visible in early game so people who cared could go out of their way to catch a "good" pokemon, and people who don't care wouldn't have to worry. The thing is, the stat swing IVS cause throughout the course of a normal playthrough don't effect you enough to make the game too much harder. it has an effect still, but it's minimal, and leads to the world feeling more real for me. Like I don't think I've not been able to beat a gym because of them, but they have affected my battles with friends while we play through a game, and that's always been fun to me.
About the Wooper thing, remember that in Galar, a region based on England (and Scotland in the DLC), they didn't include the Granbull line (a damn Pitbull, an English dog), and Swanna, a swan, an animal that belongs to the Queen. Wait a minute, were there Bellossom in Alola?
Alpha pokemon not being inherently stronger is part of the newer gens letting you get the pokemon you like and are connected to specifically to be optimal with enough training or mechanics, so you never drop your favorite pokemon for a copy.
To an extent I have to disagree since (at least at launch and now without DLC) Pokemon Sword and Shield introduced gigantamax and only a few individuals within that species are capable of doing so. Unless you buy the DLC there is no way for per say your idk... your favorite Toxitricity named gilgamesh to obtain a cool form. And outside of gigantamax there's the IVs system that is a complete headache as I'm sure most people would trade out a sub optimal liability for a copy that's a complete mean bean fighting machine that can actually deal a good amount of damage.
While I agree that the concept of Pokemon used to be about bounding to a Pokemon to help you through your adventure, outside of the anime it really doesn't have a place, certainly it isn't really in any of the games themselves. Yes people will use their favorites, but they have cut out any sort of interactions that you used to have to be able to do anything with a Pokemon that you are supposed to befriend. Now its more about which pokemon you can use to get you the farthest rather than feeling like they are your partners. Not to mention, more than half of them you can't use anymore since they are no longer moving all of the past generations into the newer games. Alpha pokemon are a collection gimmick, as much as shinys are. That's really all they are there for.
I was expecting Wooper in the Mirelands or the new update to add everything that wasn't in the Hisui dex, but, WAS in the Sinnoh Dex. It's strange they were excluded. Maybe Wooper migrated to Sinnoh later on?
The worst part about having no Wooper's is that you can't fill a PC box with them, meaning that when you go to the ranch, you can't have a huge pen filled with nothing but Woop bois.
absolute hard disagree on IVs being interesting. IVs were a horrible way to make pokemon individual and unique, and just made me feel like oh wow this friend is weak. i hope to never see IVs again, they were never interesting for any type of player. not a fun mechanic also slightly disagree on “dialogue bombarding you” it really wasnt that bad
i agree that IVs can be a little opaque (certainly in the older games) and the element of randomness can screw you over if you get unlucky but i'd still cop the chance of being unlucky to avoid all Pokemon of the same species having the exact same stats before nature buff + debuff. the Pokemon formula is samey enough in a lot of places, IVs create variance to keep things interesting
IV's are completely useless garbage and I hope they are gone for good. It's just annoying and doesn't do anything other than wasting your time trying to get them. Competitive Pokemon needs to be accessible as possible so people are willing to try it. Most people don't even seem to know that Pokemon has a competitive scene at all because all of these hidden concepts in the games that have no reason to exist
The problem isn't removing IVs, it's not replacing them with anything. It's not even hard: Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire had a whole system of ways to make each Pokémon unique thanks to the DexNav.
@@davidpt with competitive, it should be implemented as a post game thing rather than changing the entire game to make competitive more accessible. Like I believe once you beat the game you should be able to just go to an npc and max out your ivs and evs. Keeping them normally through the game up until then doesn't affect competitive and still allows there to be uniqueness to the pokemon. But yes you shouldn't have to grind for ivs or evs as much for competitive, add a god damn npc for that because it's so frustrating.
@@gnomequeen5002 it's just annoying and encourages hacking so people can stop wasting time grinding the perfect stats and can actually grind matches online and get good. that should be the challenge
The exploration and handholding wasnt that much of a problem for me. I explored the whole first area before i quelled the frenzy and spent 10 hours on it.
@@respectfullyrazerian2154 it’s still a game design issue, nothing justifies it, people who don’t have a problem with it are just braindead sheep’s who just consumes product and will eat up any garbage the TPC puts out because they are content with mediocrity. Some people don’t have a problem with it but they’ll find themselves relieved once the handholding game design issue seizes to exist, people who don’t have a problem with it are people that are used to garbage game design, it’s that simple. People are used to mediocrity so they’ll continue to accept it because they are easily adaptable to mediocrity. They’ll find themselves enjoying the experience and relieved a lot more once the mediocrity game design decision seizes to exist and they’ll be able to experience and enjoy the game a lot more without the interruption of characters and without most of the terrible flawed game design decisions by the developers. That’s why you should advocate for more, not fight for less otherwise you will continue to experience mediocrity without ever knowing what it’s truly like to experience a Pokémon game of quality and without the drawbacks that you maybe have felt indifferent to but now realize is a much better experience for you in the long run if they get rid of the handholding.
@@GodSlayer330 Way to repeatedly say the same thing in two paragraphs there bud. I could only imagine why they'd make the game predominantly made for children easy to understand and constantly point in the right direction. I'm not a fan of it entirely myself but you have to realize you're not the target audience you're an outlier they don't care about.
The game gives you boxes in the same way the other ones have since Gen 6 or so: Once at least one slot in every currently available box is filled, you unlock another set, up to a cap. This works without having to beat the main story.
fron my experience, my pasture changed to 16 as soon as i beat the palkia/dialga fight and at that point i had maybe 3/4 boxes full as i was releasing duplicates for grit items i was stacking alphas in box 8 though which was full. maybe the game is just coded badly and thought that since box 8 was full the rest were too?
Something else that's absolutely ludicrous is that pokemon abilities were removed! It's hilarious they had to give Regigigas a cop out with a status effect because it wouldn't work in the game otherwise.
Some of these complaints just seem nit-picky, like the one about Shinx not completing the side quest when you toss it out, while others just sound insane, like the game being too handholdy and limiting to the player. Besides some short sections like Ingo in Wayward Cave or the tutorial section, the game lets you do whatever the fuck you want in the areas until you decide to progress the story by going up to the quest marker. In the first area alone I spent hours in between Akari′s tutorial and Mai catching mons, and I did it all over again later, and in every other area! To be honest, what the heck were you doing? Did you just follow any quest marker that appeared, no questions asked? Does any text box, cutscene or character advice whatsoever cause you to break out into blind rage? There are legitimate criticisms here like the graphics and blocking off multi-release use initially (no idea about your grievances with the story tho, since ya never explained your issues beyond vague "they suck" descriptions) but it seems you have a bit of a problem yourself with how you approach this type of game.
@Jareth Davo doesn′t seem to like the story or characters at all, or at least never bothered to listen or care, and I have a feeling he doesn′t play other JRPGs besides Pokémon since he seemed so bothered by a 1-minute walking cutscene that many other games have done.
y'all know him not liking the game isn't a personal attack on you. the game is only good cause of how bad the other pokemon games are. like ok yea this is different from the usual bore fest were used to with pokemon. compare it to any other game in its genre and it's pretty obvious
@@hastur_kinginyellow5310 What makes you think that I think this video is a personal attack against me? I don't know about other people, but I can take criticism for games that I like, even my favorites like Epic Mickey, for example! The issue I have with Davo's critique here is that it either comes off as very irrational, or as if he never explored the game and just went from quest marker to quest marker, which is not the intended way of playing games like this. If you want some better criticism of Legends: Arceus, let me, a person who put hundreds of hours into the game and enjoyed the whole journey, help: - Running is tied to a weird button, pressing the left stick, and it's limited use, slow recharge, and invisible stamina meter makes it very annoying to use. - The Manaphy mission is HORRIFIC game design; it requires either a guide or a playthrough of BDSP up to a library in order to solve the puzzle, which no game should ever do. - Darkrai and Shaymin's missions being locked behind having save data of other Pokémon games is also really crappy, as they're unique missions with thankfully-optional Pokémon; if save data just unlocked them erarlier and they were accessible to all players, that would have been far better. - The Photo Studio does it's job, but the backgrounds are mostly just colors, the filters are limited, Poké,mon head-tracking can be very finicky when they perform animations, and there are a lot of missing, very helpful features: you can only use one Pokémon for photos, you can't select what NPC(s) can join you or if they'll bring their Pokémon, you can't use your Pokémon in the same picture as a NPC, you can't take a picture without yourself, you can't pause animations or blinking, you can't preview anything before selecting it, you can't edit your outfit while in the Studio, and you can't change the camera's position/zoom/tilt/focus/aiming! - You can't change your Survey Corps/Trainer Card's photo; it stays your unkempt, default self the whole dang game! - The hairstyles are still pretty limited, with no black hairstyles such as afros, and the colors are all pretty weak; a color wheel would be 10x better. - NPCs still share so many generic models; the Mini--Game guy, Photo Studio guy and Bagin could've been ancestors of the missing Barry, Looker or whatever, but nope, generic models instead. We're in 2022, we can do better with model generation! - The lack of Following Pokémon is really disappointing, as it would've been perfect to have companions in a open-area game like this! It feels kinda lonely in the fields otherwise. - The lack of voice-acting besides protagonist grunts is also really disappointing; it would've probably helped people like Davo get invested in the characters more if they didn't just flap their lips with empty air. - While the character customization is good in a lot of ways, they missed out on so many cool outfits, instead just focusing on short kimonos mainly. Why can't I wear Commander Kamado, Ingo or Adaman's outfit, a Gingko Guild uniform, or T-shirts, seeing how the clothes-maker lady is inspired by so many other things such as Pokémon? - While the three thieves are funny and have a interesting concept of being former members of the three Clans, nothing is done with them, and they aren't meaningfully explored beyond being comic-relief baddies who receive no sympathy from either the characters or game. It would've been really cool to see them take in the protagonist after they're exiled from Jubilife Village near the game's climax due to their similar circumstances, but alas, that never happened. - The game still does a lot of telling and not showing; we hear about how dangerous Pokémon are in this world, and how the Nobles normally protect their territory but have gone into a dangerous frenzy, but we never actually see any Pokémon attacks or how the Nobles have become dangerous. This may be a family-friendly franchise, but they mention maiming, injury and death, so they could at least show some signs of Pokémon being dangerous besides dialogue, without needing blood and gore. - The Spiritomb quest can be very annoying; the game's rendering/draw distance is already very poor, and even though they glow brighter at night, they can still be very annoyingto find, especially since they don't have an assigned number or something like the Unowns. Plus, it would''ve been so sool to have a small story for each spirit on why they were trapped in Spiritomb's stone, but sadly, that never happened. - Space-Time Distortions should've had a way of guranteeing an appearance or greatly increasing their changes rather than having to wait in one area without returning to Jubilife or sleeping to another state of day so the chances of one appearing could eventually rise up to being inevitable. If they just had rarer Pokémon or evolved forms of mons that could still all be found outside of them, their randomness would be better, but having to wait up to 40 minutes just to get a chance at it showing up at a area where a exclusive Pokémon can show up, just so you can get a CHANCE at catching it or filling in their Dex entry, especially the fossils, is INCREDIBLY irritating! - The use of food items should've been incentivized more for use, as most people just use the super-common Oran Berry since it works just as fine on most Pokémon as a preferred cake does. - The reward for getting your final Survey Corps rank is really weak, just being some EXP and Grit items. For something so vital to your progress in the game, it should've been something much more special, such as a Master Ball recipe, since you'll basically have the game completed and every Pokémon obtained at that point.
I much prefer the system for getting an optimized pokemon in PLA. It takes around 2-5 minutes to get a pokemon to max effort, level 100, correct nature, and 4 correct moves. Compared to main line games where it requires having the correct passive, max evs, max ivs, egg moves/TMs, and getting the correct held item. The process in the average pokemon game is way too convoluted for its own good, especially given that most pokemon only have 1-2 correct builds to optimize them into anyways. PLA simplifies the process by: - Allowing a direct pokedollar to exp conversion that can auto max any pokemon to level 100 in under 10 seconds. - Efforts can be maxed within about 1 minute. - Extremely easy access to mints to instantly change their nature (currently at around 60 all mints, enough to max for all of solitude and still have many remaining) - Any pokemon can quickly learn any move the species is capable of learning with no need of TMs, egg moves, and similar mechanics. This also shows a list of every possible move a pokemon is capable of learning, something never done within any other pokemon game. - Randomly battling with the pokemon before maxing it doesn't ruin its stats. - Any pokemon that is caught can quickly and easily become the best min/maxed version of that pokemon regardless of its starting values.
7:32 -- IV and EV sucked, the EL (Effort Level) in PLA is much better. Why spend hours or days hatching eggs for the perfect Pokemon, when I can just create the perfect Pokemon by giving it grit? So much faster and easier now. This is a change that I hope they keep in the games going forward, the old IV/EV system needs to go away for good.
Agree with IVs not for EVs EVs are easier to get since Vitamins can max out stats and Vitamins are easier to obtain in SwSh than Grits in LA. EVs are also much more dynamic than ELs. ELs is just Max out everything, EV has a limit which can lead to variety in builds for each Pokémon. IVs should be gone but EVs should stay and not be replaced with ELs
@@BlackKyurem5 I mean, grit can be gotten en mass by releasing Pokémon from the pastures. The higher the level, the better grit you get. I released a bunch of duplicate Pokémon, most of them level 30-50 alphas and got a shit ton of gravel, pebbles and rocks. Enough for me to max out two Pokémon right there and then.
@@BlackKyurem5 I strongly agree, it’s stupid to get rid of ev’s. Normal competitive Pokémon is like 4D Chess, it can be extremely complex which makes it more fun. Having essentially only one or two sets for a single Pokémon makes competitive battling entirely 2d. The aspect of trying to figure out if your opponents set, seeing if it’s specially defensive or defensive, a glass cannon, a bulky physical sweeper or more is half the fun, and PLA takes all of that away.
@@K2niarDneK but that's a bunch of capturing Pokémon grinding. Which isn't that bad but it's similar to just regular EV Training with the EV Boosting items. In Sword and Shield though, you just need the money which money has been a lot easier to come by compared to previous Gens. With the money, EV Training only takes a minute
@@BlackKyurem5 Considering how easy it is to catch Mons in this game, it's really not bad at all, especially late game. Catch an alpha by surprise, hit it with a SE attack, throw an ultraball, Bob's your uncle, profit! Pokemon SWSD: *has most of the Pokémon missing, has some moves removed* Pokemon Arceus: *has even more pokemon missing, no IVs, no gyms and little online functionality* Oh boy I can’t wait for Gen 9 with the games having a total of 100 pokemon and 7 moves
Just came off of beating Dialga in this game, and the only complaint I really have about the game is how the battles work. I’m interested to hear your opinions, but I doubt they’ll have much merit. Edit: Nearing halfway in already and...well, so far my initial impression was right. The story is pretty great in my opinion, sure it’s pretty simple, but that’s about the only thing I can negatively say about it, I personally can’t understand what that point comes from, as to me the story was basically just a segue into catching more Pokémon. And yeah the sidequests weren’t good...but when is a sidequest ever good in any game? I have never wanted or needed to do a sidequest in a game, and the same is true for legends: arceus, which I appreciate because I’m only there story wise for the main story. As for alpha Pokémon not being different...they are? You literally say in the video that their effort levels are higher and act like that doesn’t do anything. Sure you can just train up your own Pokémon to be of higher effort levels, but that makes sense given that’s essentially what happened to the alpha Pokémon, just without the help of the trainer. It means you don’t have to throw away an old Pokémon you may have grown attached to just because this alpha is better. Edit 2: You’re losing me even more here, it kinda sounds like you were expecting this game to be not Pokémon at all, which is ludicrous. The dialogue was fine, it never disrupted me much when I was playing and I actually find how it outlines certain things better for the children who this game was made for. Other than that certain characters have certain charms to them, while admittedly some, like the two leaders, feel samey. Also about the starbound criticism...that’s another point of confusion for me. Back when I played it I was able to get all of the best gear before even starting the storyline, and I very much enjoy going to all the races home planets to find out about those races before a bossfight, I think you’re expecting a “Skyrim” or “Fallout” with it when those can really be called nitpicks at best. Conclusion: Yeah I don’t even need to finish this video, stopped at 14:18, it just devolves into nitpicks that would do literally nothing for the game if they’re changed. The way legendary battles are done are perfect to me because most of the time I’m not there for gimmicks or special nonsense, I’m there for Pokémon, which those fights deliver. Some alpha Pokémon having their own set places on the map while others can just spawn as alphas helps with keeping things challenging in my opinion, having certain alphas in certain places also adds a sense of a sort of side thing that isn’t stated like a dumbass sidequest, but is more of a personal challenge when you can get to it. The “consistency” crap is a non issue, just another nitpick. In the end, it really just sounds like you came to a Pokémon game expecting it to be, to use an earlier criticism, Skyrim and not Pokémon. It sounds like you’ve gotten used to being on the bandwagon of hating what Pokémon has recently done, and tried to find a way to apply that bandwagon here. You can have your opinions of course, but at the end of the day, all I can really say is they’re just wrong given how much most other people love this game and all the awesome stuff it brings to the table. Final edit: Just to make sure not to be a dick, I did finish the video...and I was right. The rest of the video was nitpick after nitpick in quick succession. If you’re reading this viewer then do yourself a favor and don’t watch the video, it’s got nothing of use to add, it’s just another old Pokémon fan that likes being bitter.
Thanks for this! Saved me 20 minutes. One of my friends who’s already completed PLA (and like me is a Pokemon veteran) can’t recommend it enough to me.
No it's not. Just because this is game is the best thing 5 ever for pokemon its just that. The best thing 5 ever for pokemon. It's another mediocre game in a mediocre series. These issue's are valid issue's. The consistency problem isn't a problem? How is the game operating like it had a split decision on how it would work and what it would do between the starting half and ending half a non issue? I know your a pokemon head and view pokemon as pokemon and not an actual game series so something like this isn't bad to you because your used to worse. Saying not expecting it to be pokemon is bs because he states several times that he gets its a pokemon game but that doesn't make his criticisms invalid. Pokemon isn't void of criticism because its pokemon thats not how it works. It's very obvious by looking at the game it isn't up to snuff and than after watching this ALL FEARS I had were proven to be true. It's a shitty handled breath of the wild copy with pokemon and you all are losing your mind because its the first time they've done something different in decades. You all have to remember that you enjoying it and it being a good game aren't the same thing. It's old ,has classic pokemon problems and doesn't know what it wants to be so it fucks up at both numerous times. It's an inconsistent mess ,with weak characters,an even weaker story and a pointless change in style for it to not excell at anything. It's the best thing pokemon has done yes. But that isn't saying much when the vast majority of pokemon games are just the absolute worse of the monster catching genre and have been banking on the fact that its pokemon to carry it ever since it made it past gen 5. You call them nitpicks but never say how they are invalid you just say they are. You sound like the hype has gotten to you and you were so pressed for this new thing to be good that you couldn't see how truly mid of a game it is. And to be honest thats not to bad for pokemon. All of pokemons new games(x and y onwards) have been boring, uninspired and basic ass rpgs, ranging from actually unplayable to at the very best decent with some game breakingly bad issue that makes you not want to finish it or play it in general. This game is only slightly better because it isn't the same stupid rehashed pokemon game. The vast majority of you have shown that being a comitted pokemon fan is stupid as there will never be a hidden gem a flat out good game in this franchise, it will always be the same boring and useless excuse that "you expected to much". No I didn't. I expect these games to be good games. I'm not some blinded nostalgia baby I don't belive in this bs pokemon comparison or pokemon quality stuff. A good pokemon game isn't a real thing, it's not its own measure of game or quality. It's rather a bad game or a good game regardless of the ip and this is just another bad game. And we all know that we would call it the bland and shitty BOW rip off that it is if it didn't have pokemon in it and you all weren't so desperate for it to be good.
This game feels a bit like Super Mario Party to me. Both aren't very great, but they are such massive jumps in the right direction, that it's easy to overlook the flaws (at least around release)
Honestly, they are massive jump in the wrong direction when you specifically look at the amount of handholding modern Pokémon games have, and the terrible game design decisions intentionally made by the developers that didn’t need to be there from the start. They could not even explain in more depth what that strange lightning is and where it comes from other then the fact that it’s comes from a rift in the sky, in some areas it is a step towards the right direction but there’s a lot of game design issues at play here that hold this game back by a lot. The reason terrible game design decisions are even made are due to the incompetence of the people making the games and the huge sudden shift in a flawed game philosophy which is completely out of touch with what the true fans of the series want. This is exactly why Pokémon will never truly be what it was meant to be from the start. Ever since generation 1-5 Pokémon games were meant to go down a certain very promising direction, x and y is when the series started stagnating and we are still feeling the effects of that even in legends arceus which is a game that’s suppose to change up the formula but fails to give up the aspect that is holding back the series and that is the handholding and the terrible game design decisions and the fact that they are using a small budget on a game that’s suppose to go down a very “bold new direction” overall I don’t think this game was worth 60 dollars, it’s worth 40 dollars at most and that’s me being generous.
@@GodSlayer330 You stopped playing at the credits, didn't you? Just because you get an ending when reaching the credits does not mean that you've seen the full story.
I was actually suprised and disappointed Wooper was not in it. Purely because 1) it is a Pokémon always in Sinnoh and 2) ever since i noticed Woopers mouth was a sticker on the 3d model, it has ruined the Pokémon for me. I hate how it looks when its mouth is so big like that. So with all the Pokémon in this game getting actual mouths I anticipated his the most
@@larniieplayz6285 it is a flat texture just stuck on the models face. With some Pokémon, I think that's justified since their mouth opens slightly and doesn't look wrong. But Woopers face is round, and looking at its open mouth from any angle but directly in front just looks unnatural. A comparison point is Chewtle, who has a similar and properly modeled mouth.
@@piranhalettuce Yeah. It really stuck out and bothered me. That's why my favourite thing about Legends was the remodelling of Pokémon mouthes. And when they showed off Paldean Wooper, it was a sight to behold. Not just because brown Wooper, but because of how nice the model was.
It's interesting because you can tell that with PLA the stuff was mainly trying new ideas to see what would work in a new setting for Pokemon it what doesn't. Without much of a safety net aside from some similar ideas utilized in Pokemon Sun and Moon. I enjoyed the game myself, but it really depends on what comes next to determine exactly where things are going

glad to see someone who both understands my purposeful use of music to persuade people to agree with my ramblings as well as someone who appreciates the PMD Explorers/Time/Sky soundtrack (i would argue the best Pokemon soundtrack of any of their games)
I hated the story and lack of things to do besides research so much that after beating it I've never played it again. God all the characters are terrible to be honest.
When I finished this game and checked a list of all the pokemon in this game, then I was just sad. I have a list of like, 50 to 80 non legendary/mythical pokemon that I really like, and I always try to put on my teams, and this games pokedex had a whopping 2!!! I get this won't be a problem for everyone but it just lead to me not actually feeling a desire to put any pokemon on my team.
This game is definitely undercooked, and Game Freak's biggest problem is without a doubt their super tight schedules. Considering the marketing weight of the Pokemon franchise would never allow a game delay, I think the only way Game Freak's games could ever live up to its own franchise with the gradual increase in technical complexity would be if they had more teams that each worked on their respective projects for longer. They aren't making smaller sprite-based handheld games anymore, and they need more than the barely 2 years each game has been getting ever since they moved to full 3D in X&Y. It just pains me as a Pokemon fan that we may never get a game as polished as BW2 again at this rate
I'm tired of people shitting on the 3DS era. They were pretty good games, and if we're giving Red and Blue a pass then I can't see how they don't make the cut.
@@PlatinumAltaria Definitely not shitting on them, I think they're great personally and have a lot of really great ideas, mechanics, and designs (pokemon and otherwise). But I do think it's where the games started to not get as polished as previous entries with more performance problems, glitches, weird balancing, and cut areas/ideas
I find the battle system after a while felt tacked on when you realize oh I can just stun all the Pokémon with sticky balls then catch them. This just made the battles feel tedious and bland since it was just turn based rather than free flowing like the rest of the game
Haven't bought a Pokemon game in several years with no regrets. Series has become an extremely low-effort cashgrab. I don't get how people can pay $60 for Mario: Odyssey or BOTW and think paying $60 for this is okay. I thought Sports fans had low standards but Pokemon fans' standards have fallen into a bottomless pit at this point.
@@MysticAceXYZ It has 'improved' from it's past games but that doesn't make it a good game. The technology and game design on display here is legit inferior to games on the gamecube, PS2 and OG Xbox. In comparison to BOTW, M:Odyssey or New Horizons this doesn't even pass as an early alpha. To ask $60 for this or for Sword & Shield is insane.
It sucks because all their is to do is catch Pokemon , pop balloon's and grind resources. It is far from the best and regresses on everything but the catching so it's not worth what it offers. The serious lack of battles and meaningful side activities besides shiny hunting makes it absolute trash if you don't value what it innovates on. As an avid Pokemon breeder and lover of various other activities that were excluded this is like a 3/10 and the worst Pokemon game yet for me, Even worse then Let's go which I also despise...
I love the game, but honestly i agree with a lot of the points in this video. That being said, the way these points are presented is annoying and childish. Someone else already pointed this out, but my god, the absolutes and over-exaggerating is unbelievably annoying and repetitive. It takes away from honest criticism when you keep pushing everything that far. When everythings awful and irredeemable and no one likes it it sorta makes every criticism feel the same. Video definitely feels like its half actual criticism, and half clickbait-y and bait-y nonsense. I get that views and angry comments make $$$ but still, really takes away from the review. Verlisify vibes.
Money over humility. Clicks over honesty. "Must... have... ENGAGEMENT! NOTICE MEEEEE! GIVE ME MONEY!" Unfortunately, it works. Humans fall for it --myself included. Hell, just commenting is benefiting the video author, regardless of what I have to say. Money has no morals and needs no morals, and social media sites encourage a lack of it, so long as it doesn't ergregiously breach their guidelines. I *HATE* clickbait, but it works. However, with that said, acknowledging that you did that intentionally in the video doesn't absolve you of the scumminess. Edit: Grammar
10:38 I feel like this is a bit of a nitpicky example. I agree that early tutorials dragged on too long but as far as I remember this is basically the only time in the game where you have to do something like this (aside from when you get kicked out from the village) so using it as an example of how the game constantly holds your hand is a bit disingenuous imo. Like aside from that one instance each story event is basically a cutscene or battle(s) that takes place in a single area, and you can dick around and explore the entire area between doing the story. Agree with you on basically everything else though, aside from the IVs
I agree with you so much. I love the game and find the game to be amazing. Best we seen in a long time in my opinion. I know people will always have their ideals with what's good and bad with a game but I believe this game is amazing! I don't mind people not liking this game cause it's their opinion but as of now anyone that talks poorly about this game seem to be base off of really weird or dumb thoughts. Like the tutorial which is like 10 minutes at most which I find not a good reason to complain about cause after that you never deal with tutorials again in the game. Trust me Gen 7 was worst about tutorials which was 2 hours in the beginning the first area is all about tutorials so people need to stop complaining about that.
Even then, it literally only exists for a lore dump to make sure that people realize who this character is, given that Ingo is about as obscure as it gets outside of Japan.
@@Missingno_Miner at least it better than gen 8. Well what am I even saying anything better than sword and shield. Also Lore is fucking awesome it keeps a series alive. Without story or lore no one would care about a game.
I would often compare this game to Sonic Adventure, another semi open world game that blew people's mind out after release and manage to get a dedicated fanbase despite it aging like milk. Yes Legends will have dedicated fans like me still playing the game years after it's release, Cyllene's hot you know, but as years go by it will age poorly.
Legends: Arceus was a fun ride while it lasted. I don't remember paying too much attention to the story, but the new mechanics were fun to play with until doing the Research Tasks became such a tedious grind. And the free Daybreak update hasn't exactly charmed me back into playing it beyond the mission gauntlet that served as essentially a long tutorial for the "creatively" named "Massive Mass Outbreaks". I enjoyed my time, don't get me wrong, but I can't really go back to it; all I really have left to do are the Research Tasks if I want the Shiny Charm (which I don't) and the other Daybreak DLC content (which I don't want to do).
I feel similarly I got Arceus, the shiny charm and did every request of the base game minus Spiritomb because screw that But my lord the Path of Solitude requests.... why did they think it was a good idea? I don't mind them having some but, a) there's 15 total and b) 3 of them are just grinding up comically weak pokemon. Spending ages grinding a Magikarp to lvl 90 just so it would live for more than 2 turns just to be told "now do it again with a kricketot and wurmple" was utterly demoralizing And the worst part is, the Solitude stuff is really cool imo, some battles are like a puzzle to overcome. But those 3 aren't a challenge... they're purely a grind.
You made some very good points, particularly with the revenge killing. I never realised that was a huge problem until you pointed it out. I have to admit though, you're being too critical. When you started, you made the point that with BDSP they "knew what they were doing" - I highly disagree with this point, yes, they had a template, so in that sense they "knew", but as a whole, they failed immeasurably. If anything, they took away from the original. I really do think you cannot compare the two. We must appreciate the game for what it was, an amazing first step in a new direction for the franchise. But I digress, let's agree to disagree.
@@rockmanfan5104 I loved BDSP it not my favorite game but I enjoyed it! I just found it annoying how much people complained about wanted a remake for Diamond and Pearl. Than the moment we got it people hated on it. Which dumbfounded me. Like people were stating how we need this and that from Platinum. Which made me think people didn't want a diamond and Pearl remakes. They wanted a freaking platinum remake that's all people wanted it was all about the updates from Platinum nothing about diamond and pearl. That piss me off the most. Ofc their going go base it off of diamond and pearl more cause that what we ask in reality. Not for platinum.
I can't bring myself to spend $60 on a game that looks like a cheap demo. I spent 40 on Monster Hunter Stories 2 which is basically the same thing but better
@@ryaquaza3offical As long as people buy it regardless of the issues nothing will ever be fixed. Fans got more love for it then Bethesda at this point. Sad truth is you put the name Elder scrolls on a bag full of dog crap people will probably buy it. As the ever useless Tom Howard says. "It just works...."
majority of people are far too lenient with their judgement when it comes to pokemon games in general. were this fanbase to have more people who held pokemon as a game franchise to a higher standard and not compromise with the mediocre bar it sets for itself, we'd either watch it die as nintendo displays how little they give a shit and go milk something else, or they'd actually have to go the extra mile for once and give us something worthwhile, but this isnt the star wars community, or the battlefield community, or any other community that'd vote with their wallet so hard u'd think the ip is dead. a good portion of the pokemon fanbase are kids, kids with no concept of value for their money, so long as it has pokemon on the label they'll eat it up, and unfortunately its not just the kids that are like this. and so we'll watch this cycle repeat itself for years to come as its been doing for a good long while, unless people finally get pissed enough and we all just drop it until they do something besides releasing 2 versions of the same game every fuckin year, because what these people and alot of this fanbase considers new or impressive is at best, a QOL update for lots of other games out here. At the end of the day they know no matter what people will always buy the next 2 games next year, and the next, and the next. Sadly there's alot of valid points in this video if not all of them, points that i dont believe it should take much thought to arrive at let alone understand in greater capacity, it simply doesn tmatter how badly this game could suck, watch someone defend it. i will only personally acknowledge what it does technically achieve by its own standards as a game in comparison to the ones before it, but this is nintendo, i will give these people no praise until i see something truly earth shattering, because somehow people fail to realize half the shit they tried to do with arceus shouldve been done ages ago, the capability of the switch is not even a factor at this point if u've quite literally played any other modern game that came before it. they've kept this formula going for a decade or so now, its ridiculous. in conclusion legends arceus imo is just the perfect example of what ive been saying for years, these games are subpar at best, even for their own standard within the franchise, and there are other games out there, be it mmo's rpgs, or even painful gacha games like genshin thats also a fuckin "mobile game" mind you, that do alot of what legends arceus attempted to do, and do it better, doesnt even matter what example i drop in here, someone will always use the lazy excuse of "the switch isnt powerful enough", while it easily runs other games like warframe or doom, and yet legends arceus looks like a ps2 game at best, artistically, visually, narrative, all 3 of those things and none of them were nailed from a company that makes more bank off of u every year than we can count, and can still push haughty shit like pokemon home + DLC's in sword and shield that u have to buy just for the feature of having your pokemon follow you, and now you have this game, i dont care if you think its fun, whether or not an individual simply "had fun" with it is barely half the battle when the criticism this game gets is about objective values that can be compared to other games, with the constant reminder that this is from a corporation with all the money/time and resources to create something solid. Instead, in the meantime, nintendont is busy going after content creators and the like, abusing dmca like every typical corporation who doesnt want people potentially making money off stuff we know they dont actually care about, like "emulating" their games. And regardless of whether or not you're "emulating" or using it as a means to pirate their half assed repetitious formula every year, it isnt like they're actually gonna take your money if u want to emulat it legally, because they're not interested in preserving what we the fans want to keep value in, they dont offer u something in place of it and they'll still shut ur shit down over it, They've got all the time and power to do that, and still THIS is the "open world experience" u get after years upon years of the same nonsense. wouldnt matter how professionally you structure criticism of this game, to a T even, watch somebody relentlessly try to convince you its a good game. If you told me it was fanmade by some dude in their attic i'd honestly believe you, because thats what this game looks like case and point, and i dont just mean graphics. Both pokemon and the community that settles for the low bar this sets just leaves me reminding myself the open-world ADVENTURE pokemon rpg that deserves to exist to do the aesthetic and approach of the anime and that feeling of actually raising ur pokemon and inhabiting a vibrant world teeming with said pokemon, is a fantasy that will forever be a pipe dream. And when thats how nintendo so much as treats people preserving games, nevermind making a solid game themself, no wonder legends: arceus is the way it is, hence why i cannot blame anyone for emulating pokemon games, albeit preservation, or outright piracy, im no white knight for whether or not you've given a multibillion dollar company your money, but when you tell me a 2022 game from said people looks like This, and this is them doing something new.....you're probably doing yourself a favor. Long story short, this review does the best job at actually critiquing this game as is while also throwing in some personal opinions. had fun or not, this is what it is.
you also need to take into account the software, if you look at pre release legends footage they actually had more pokémon then what we got i’m guessing they had to cut it down for performance
I don't think this game is mediocre, yes this is what the series should have been and i am not saying it's the best ever, and it isn't a perfect game too, but it did shape the foundation for Scarlet and Violet the upcoming open world games. I've seen some poketubers being able to address the positives and negatives of the games without over-exaggerating or fixating on them, they can do better with the games and i can understand that they should have done this earlier, but this game has shaped up the stale formula, scarlet and violet is confirmed to be open world by the way. So this game isn't perfect or the best Pokemon game ever, but i think it's the best modern Pokemon game and best Pokemon game for the switch
@@MysticAceXYZ if this garbage is a good game than everything ever released is either good or better. Pokemon Arceus seems like a fan made game but done in a UA-cam challenge like “I create a game in 48 hours”.
@@blakedake19 I don't think it's that bad of a game, isn't what this game the fanbase wanted for they're like "This is what a fan can do! Can the billion dollar company do the same?" And this is the game that feels like it's made by a passionate Pokemon fan, but if you don't like it then that is fine. Again i am not saying that this is a perfect game, but there's certainly a lot of quality of life updates and something they've definitely put some effort into. IMO the formula back then was fine, they just didn't put their full potential into it like B2W2 for example is a game that uses the old formula but is able to perfect it, still the reuse of the formula will get stale quickly and they have to try something new because of what they've done with SWSH and BDSP, LGPE. So this change could have been implemented years ago, but i think it's mainly because last time they perfected the formula but now aren't so competent in doing so so they had to do it now to try something new and innovative. But in the end, that is just my opinion.
Pokémon GO really messed up GameFreak's minds. Why bother with these outdated "video games" when you can make billions from a mobile app. Every game since Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon has been a formality, with the minimum effort just to keep those diehard fans attached.
They did try with USUM though...same with Legends Arceus. Seriously if they tried with prior enhanced versions...then they clearly tried with Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon too.
I don’t understand how people can find catch each Pokémon 25 times for complete de quests fun. Why I would want 25 wurmples? BORING and UNNECESSARY. Seems like people have a lot of free time and nothing to do with their lifes. For me is the worst Pokémon game ever, even the world seems empty.
So I’ve seen a few videos with this title that are entirely clickbait and others that were just trying to go against the grain but after watching this review I can see validity in your title so I respect your opinion and you’ve earned my like. Keep up the reviews man I just started watching them today and I can tell you’re great at this. I’d love to see more!
At the end of day, as you stated - gamefreak is not a good enough company. or rather it just lost its touch. when a game like this comes out its supposed to blow our minds, but instead we get a package of a barren looking world, some steps in the right direction but none of them fully realized, mechanics that need to be perfected and completed and hand holding even in a freaking open world game. I mean, I hated this in sun and moon as well, but its open world were talking about - let us explore freely. I honestly can't see gamefreak get rid of their old habits of poor writing, linear gameplay and stuff as the forced exp share - they are just fixated on them. I honestly don't care if we get an open world or a regular game in the future, but I so want it to be what games like heart gold and black 2 were for me when they first came out - a fresh experience of a game that fully utilized the modern hardware it was on, with loads of content and good stuff in it. but I don't set my hopes pretty high
This game was a 4/10 it then became a 1/10 when you needed it to get arceus in bdsp. They fucking put arceus behind a big ass paywall and annoying grind.
I think if there was something I had to nail about this game that I don't like, it would have to be a the repetitive nature of it. Like there are 5 areas, you go there, and then you do the story, and you realize, "oh hey, this was LITERALLY identical to the last one, it just looks different".
i disagree with your opinion on IV's, i am happy that they are gone as i believe that, past natures, the grind is very tedious. however, i do agree with your opinion on effort levels and a very interesting solution ive heard from a professional pokemon player is to cap how many total levels a pokemon can have (below the 50(?) in total) so you will have to choose which stats are strongest and make it a decision rather than a grind to get all perfect 10s. i also share your sentiment that alpha pokemon are not very different aside from stats and with the proposed effort level change alphas can be different by already being boosted in some effort levels without affecting the theoretical cap. otherwise, i agree that the story is as flat and uninteresting as some of the terrain and caves in the game. though i dont have an issue with them using a "chosen one" story, the written part is very bland and uninteresting with obvious places for a visual explanation rather than an exposition dump. however, i do adore the character designs and do think that the twist near the end was actually interesting but i wish it lasted for longer and they should have taken it much further. what if you had to help your chosen clan grow from a tent community into its own town as well, and helped the other grow during post game? speaking of which, a jubilife guard mentions team galactic wanting to grow a camp into another town, and it pains me that it is nothing more than a piece of dialogue. and in the case with wayward cave, i thought ingo was faster than me at first, it would have been brilliant if he unknowingly out speeded you and left you alone in the labyrinth. otherwise, his character is one of the most interesting ones as he was part of the battle subway duo in black and white and has been teleported back in time with amnesia just as you have. he really does mirror you in a special way no other character has and i wish he also had an arc phone (perhaps even arc flip-phone) and became more of a rival as you both race to meet arceus and find your way home. the idea of pokemon running from you, that would otherwise attack, if you had a strong partner pokemon following you is a great idea. i wish that i would stop having to enjoy my time to listen to the danger theme when a level 4 zubat tries to challenge the god of shadows. but yeah, game sucks no wooper 0/10
They just went way overboard imo. Catching Pokémon is too easy. I shouldn’t be able to go out and catch 20 of (insert Pokémon here) so easily. It should be more of an event. I don’t like that you can just chuck Ultra Balls at high level Pokémon and catch them with little effort.
So far you're the only person I've heard that likes IVs and missed them. I am also in that boat, and while everyone else is saying how pointless they are, I still like that they make each pokemon unique. I liked the idea that my pikachu I caught could just be a lot slower than most other out there, but have more HP.
Yeah while some other person randomly can have that pikachu thats has the same hp as you and is faster than yours making him.....better in every way? Thats not fair is it. Though i can say if they wanted to do something that makes them different id do what they did with natures except have pokemon that have opposite states say for example a weavile that has 10 increase in attack and defense but a drop in sp attack and special defense or even hp. But not according to a 0 to 31 range but rather a 10 percent boost and drop in that category. Thats my opinion at least. Give me your thoughts.
@@Nettori Yeah its true it's not fair. For some reason though I still don't mind. It adds enough immersion for me personally and makes my pokemon feel more special, enough that the fairness of it isn't a huge deal. Your idea is a cool one! Kinda like natures just expanded a little bit. I'd be fine with them experimenting a little on how it all works for sure. I think it could be cool if certain traits were tied to other things too, like if larger pokemon had more HP and if smaller pokemon had greater speed? Then instead of it feeling random too it would be more consistent similar to the natures thing you were mentioning.
@@Frysbear Sorry for the late reply. Thats exactly what I had in mind. I just dont like the idea of catching a pokemon then later realizing that i had better options. To me thats just kinda wrong. Just think about the pokemon white series idea about treating pokemon like slaves. Isnt that almost the same concept considering some pokemon worthless. (I hope i making sense lol) I appreciate your response too we are on the same page.
The amount of times the map has glitches in the terrain to where the ball hits nothing but still makes a Pokémon aggressive. I failed 2 shinies because I play with auto save on because in some places it will literally kick you out of the game completely, likes it’s an error. Like idk if the update changed it but at the top of the volcano in cobalt coastlands there’s a cave arcanine when into and it’s say error and kick you out of the game, I once caught over 30 Pokédex entries, added a lot of new members to my team and evolved my starter to its final. Then got kicked out of the game and lost all that progress because I wanted to shiny hunt without auto save. Never again.
While I greatly enjoy the game, you made some great points about it It's overall unfinished and rushed so it sucks knowing the game could've been so much better
Ya this game just sucks period. If I wanted to play one of the RPG assassins creed’s, I’d go play them. I played it for about 20 mins, and deleted it. Thank god I didn’t pay for this garbage game.
Well to be completely fair, all of the pokemons suck these days. First few generations were ok, the games were alrighty-roo but then it just started getting ridiculous.
I came to this video ready to give it hate but after hearing you out honestly….. he’s right. I think i fell in love with the game because it’s a different Pokémon game. They did it different. It was a refresher. Honestly still love the game but it sucks that they won’t fully step out of there comfort zone. And I hate the constant hand holding, I’m the type pf guy where if you give me a option of difficulty I will chose the hardest difficulty because there is less hand holding. Hopefully they will step out of the comfort zone completely and see the success of this game as a opportunity to step out further till they nail it, and give us a game of the year.
Gamefreak was super half assed on this one, although they did prioritize certain more important aspects over graphics, the finished game overall was such a tedious playthrough and eyesore. While playing, I couldn't help but constantly think of the missed potential this game has. 1 more year of development and the funds from Brilliant/Diamond remake, and this game would've been a gem, instead we got 2 crappy games imo. Still love Pokemon though.
Why haven't I seen this video before I bought it, this game is beyond sucks, it's imgaginably bad for a company that's been active known and loved since my childhood, it's so lazily made, it seems to me that ppl recomending it as a prank at this point.
My problems with Legends Arceus 1. The lack of battling and emphasis on catching 2. The fact that the Pokedex completion is MANDATORY for the sake of progression 3. The battle system really made things harder for me cos there were times when i didn't even get to do ANYTHING in a fight 4. Arceus isn't even a huge part of the plot whatsoever. Like what the heck?!
I hope Nintendo never in life thinks that they can make a Pokémon game and go out of the formula. The fact this game had no gym badges made me turn this shit off this has no challenge. The maps are so plain it’s just fields and field and fields of land. You don’t even have a bike.
This video couldn't have summed up my thoughts better if I had written it myself. The standards for Pokémon are so borked from lack of meaningful improvement to the series, and at this point general lack of modern quality, that Legends coming along and doing the bare minimum of what we expect has somehow led people to think it's this massive leap for the franchise. Baby this game barely scratches the surface of what we should expect a truly open Pokémon game to be. It's a solid start, but a long way to go before it's worth comparing to Breath of the Wild or most other RPGs these days. But hey, I'm sure the overpriced DLC will come along and introduce the rest of what shoulda been there day one, so it's all good, right?
I don't think it's bare minimum, they put quite some effort into it and this is the result of them trying for once, i know they can do more but this is a great way to introduce SV to the franchise by building the foundation for the future games. Also this isn't meant to be an open-world game, SV is so far by the trailers.
@@MysticAceXYZ I'd prefer to wait until we know more about SV before we make assumptions as to whether they'll actually carry significant elements from Legends over. I won't deny they made alot of clever changes with Legends, but alot of it is very basic stuff you'd really expect from a more free-formed adventure. It really needs alot of expanding on the formula before it's really where it needs to be.
@@Dal_9000 Yeah, but including the fact that SV is going to be an open-world game, i think they're stepping things up, plus they hired the studio who made AOT to make the upcoming Legends Arceus online series so i think they are going to make some great decisions for once.
The male protagonist looks like a boy that wants to become a girl, no lie. Just facts. Look at them short shorts. My god! Grown men will skip violet and scarlet. It’s a kid’s game. Legends arceus where it’s at
This doesn’t sound like arceus is a shit game, but rather a good game with valid criticisms. You’re honestly just complaining for the sake of complaining.
Wish I saw this before buying the game, Def got burned out trying to complete side quests and eventually got bored once I reached the last area. Still excited nonetheless for Gen 9
why didn't anyone complain about how double battles don't exist, and you can't choose to fight with more than one pokemon at a time, even when abunch of wild pokemon started to chase you!!
You hit the nail on the head sir, Gamefreak has spent so long in its comfort zone they have no idea what they’re doing on the switch and it’s more apparent with each release.
I think you get more Pasture Boxes based on how many Pokemon you catch. I haven't beaten the main story yet and I have like 28 pastures.
Im barely at cobalt coastlands and I have enough boxes for every pokemon type, some needing two boxes, and I still have 7 boxes left to do whatever
You just have to have a single pokemon in each box and talk to the lady near the pastures and she'll automatically give you more boxes.
Yeah, I read a wiki page on it and 28 is the highest amount you can get- you get it by how many boxes are filled up, not whether you're at the endgame or not
I have 32 pastures so wiki is wrong
@@MercuryBubble he means before post game i think.
Tbh I like that they removed IVs since it gets rid of unnecessary randomness to see if your Pokemon is actually even worth using at the endgame or not
Yes its a win win to pro players as well they dont need to breed shit ton of one pokemon anymore
But effort points
Wait a minute, were there Bellossom in Alola?
yes, there is. The whole nat dex was included on that game.

@@trickstercj4366 Yeah iv's are the last thing that are not changeable, wonder how they'd handle that?
It's also just very funny to see a massive Garchop vs a tiny Gastly
@@johb3930 Guess i missed that.
Well now that we know that woopers were pokemon that lived in the water long ago I'm guessing that they were still transitioning from water to land.
The worst part about having no Wooper's is that you can't fill a PC box with them, meaning that when you go to the ranch, you can't have a huge pen filled with nothing but Woop bois.
a field filled with lil woopas waddlin around, what a sight to behold it would be...
at the least you could have a bunch of magikarps in the ranch

absolute hard disagree on IVs being interesting. IVs were a horrible way to make pokemon individual and unique, and just made me feel like oh wow this friend is weak. i hope to never see IVs again, they were never interesting for any type of player. not a fun mechanic
also slightly disagree on “dialogue bombarding you” it really wasnt that bad
i agree that IVs can be a little opaque (certainly in the older games) and the element of randomness can screw you over if you get unlucky but i'd still cop the chance of being unlucky to avoid all Pokemon of the same species having the exact same stats before nature buff + debuff. the Pokemon formula is samey enough in a lot of places, IVs create variance to keep things interesting

The game gives you boxes in the same way the other ones have since Gen 6 or so:
Once at least one slot in every currently available box is filled, you unlock another set, up to a cap.
This works without having to beat the main story.
fron my experience, my pasture changed to 16 as soon as i beat the palkia/dialga fight and at that point i had maybe 3/4 boxes full as i was releasing duplicates for grit items
i was stacking alphas in box 8 though which was full. maybe the game is just coded badly and thought that since box 8 was full the rest were too?

@speed slider the ingo one shouldn't even count because it had him telling you about be he time traveled.
If you want some better criticism of Legends: Arceus, let me, a person who put hundreds of hours into the game and enjoyed the whole journey, help:
- Running is tied to a weird button, pressing the left stick, and it's limited use, slow recharge, and invisible stamina meter makes it very annoying to use.

@@sckepticjesture why?
I much prefer the system for getting an optimized pokemon in PLA. It takes around 2-5 minutes to get a pokemon to max effort, level 100, correct nature, and 4 correct moves. Compared to main line games where it requires having the correct passive, max evs, max ivs, egg moves/TMs, and getting the correct held item. The process in the average pokemon game is way too convoluted for its own good, especially given that most pokemon only have 1-2 correct builds to optimize them into anyways.
PLA simplifies the process by:
- Allowing a direct pokedollar to exp conversion that can auto max any pokemon to level 100 in under 10 seconds.
- Efforts can be maxed within about 1 minute.
- Extremely easy access to mints to instantly change their nature (currently at around 60 all mints, enough to max for all of solitude and still have many remaining)
- Any pokemon can quickly learn any move the species is capable of learning with no need of TMs, egg moves, and similar mechanics.
Levelling Pokémon to 100 by using money is… ridiculous.
finally, someone who gets it 🤷🏾♂, like the game is good period, seems like people are just looking for reasons too hate this game🤦🏾♂🤦🏾♂
Agree with IVs not for EVs
EVs are easier to get since Vitamins can max out stats and Vitamins are easier to obtain in SwSh than Grits in LA.

Thank you, this was cathartic. I was excited about this game, then I got it and started playing and it's been making me want to pull my hair out.
Did Davo Die?
I would often compare this game to Sonic Adventure, another semi open world game that blew people's mind out after release and manage to get a dedicated fanbase despite it aging like milk. Yes Legends will have dedicated fans like me still playing the game years after it's release, Cyllene's hot you know, but as years go by it will age poorly.
Sonic Adventure got a 4.4 on Google reviews.
I feel similarly
I got Arceus, the shiny charm and did every request of the base game minus Spiritomb because screw that
But my lord the Path of Solitude requests.... why did they think it was a good idea? I don't mind them having some but, a) there's 15 total and b) 3 of them are just grinding up comically weak pokemon. Spending ages grinding a Magikarp to lvl 90 just so it would live for more than 2 turns just to be told "now do it again with a kricketot and wurmple" was utterly demoralizing
And the worst part is, the Solitude stuff is really cool imo, some battles are like a puzzle to overcome. But those 3 aren't a challenge... they're purely a grind.
Gamefreak if they wanted could easily create a game of the year game, just do what makes sense and put your heard in it and polish it.
I hope Dave won't commit a GradeAunderA

You made some very good points, particularly with the revenge killing. I never realised that was a huge problem until you pointed it out. I have to admit though, you're being too critical. When you started, you made the point that with BDSP they "knew what they were doing" - I highly disagree with this point, yes, they had a template, so in that sense they "knew", but as a whole, they failed immeasurably. If anything, they took away from the original. I really do think you cannot compare the two.
We must appreciate the game for what it was, an amazing first step in a new direction for the franchise. But I digress, let's agree to disagree.
I disagree with you on bdsp. It's pretty great
Not really. Its just good because Diamond and Pearl were good but as its own game its not the best.
@@Takittack it's the most fun I've had since x and y
I agree with you so much. It nice having comments like this.
I hate that they're making it a norm to not even have every pokemon in the game. It's fucking pathetic.
Yep
I can't bring myself to spend $60 on a game that looks like a cheap demo.
I spent 40 on Monster Hunter Stories 2 which is basically the same thing but better
I spend 25 on legends 😜
Enjoyed it very much, but I don't like mh stories sadly, I love the main games tho.
The video is just nitpicks but I respect his opinion. Game's awesome.
it really is just a demo. it was a complete waste of time and incredibly overhyped
come on davo u need to talk about the new wooper
If it was made by Bethesda, at least it would be easy to make a mod to add Wooper to the game.
It’s kinda sad we have to fix the game for them though, instead we are kinda stuck with less Pokémon than a gameboy colour game
They definitely should have had some kind of upgraded dunsparce since in some it it entries it said may have flown in ancient times
That was definitely drampa
Did some dingo eat Davo_?
majority of people are far too lenient with their judgement when it comes to pokemon games in general. were this fanbase to have more people who held pokemon as a game franchise to a higher standard and not compromise with the mediocre bar it sets for itself, we'd either watch it die as nintendo displays how little they give a shit and go milk something else, or they'd actually have to go the extra mile for once and give us something worthwhile, but this isnt the star wars community, or the battlefield community, or any other community that'd vote with their wallet so hard u'd think the ip is dead.
a good portion of the pokemon fanbase are kids, kids with no concept of value for their money, so long as it has pokemon on the label they'll eat it up, and unfortunately its not just the kids that are like this. and so we'll watch this cycle repeat itself for years to come as its been doing for a good long while, unless people finally get pissed enough and we all just drop it until they do something besides releasing 2 versions of the same game every fuckin year, because what these people and alot of this fanbase considers new or impressive is at best, a QOL update for lots of other games out here.
I find the opposite to be true as well. Way too many fans of Pokemon will insist that anything short of perfection is garbage
It was a internal Tech Demo, bloated to a full price game.
I totally agree it's one of the worst games I've ever played. The only good pokemon games on the switch are brilliant diamond and shining pearl.
No the best Pokémon game is actually Pokémon detective pikachu!
@PokeDa.1 lol
Pokémon GO really messed up GameFreak's minds. Why bother with these outdated "video games" when you can make billions from a mobile app. Every game since Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon has been a formality, with the minimum effort just to keep those diehard fans attached.
you say that like that's not the entire pokemon series in the first place
people are going to buy it regardless because it's pokemon, why try?
@@tenacity25 The pokémon series has produced several good games. It wasn't until recently that they stopped trying.
@@PlatinumAltaria Until recently being Gen 4? (Ultra )Sun/Moon were an exception, but most games after Gen3 have been just shite.
@@DarkAngelEU That's the most incorrect opinion I've heard all day.

Keep up the reviews man I just started watching them today and I can tell you’re great at this. I’d love to see more!
Also the wooper thing I 100% agree with bro.. Why TF did they go out of their way to remove my boi in the best shiny hunting game in the series???
Why is nobody talking about how great that Peter Griffin impression was?
nyehehe
The randomly generated world in minecraft is far more superior than this games open world
I think if there was something I had to nail about this game that I don't like, it would have to be a the repetitive nature of it.
The story was so bland that for the most part I was like Peter saying "Oh my god, who the hell cares".
So far you're the only person I've heard that likes IVs and missed them. I am also in that boat, and while everyone else is saying how pointless they are, I still like that they make each pokemon unique. I liked the idea that my pikachu I caught could just be a lot slower than most other out there, but have more HP.
Fair enough
(I hope i making sense lol)
I appreciate your response too we are on the same page.
What would you do if they updated the game and added literally just Wooper?
thank god for not wasting my money on it
The amount of times the map has glitches in the terrain to where the ball hits nothing but still makes a Pokémon aggressive.
While I greatly enjoy the game, you made some great points about it
It's overall unfinished and rushed so it sucks knowing the game could've been so much better

11:53 Davo never misses an opportunity to roast starbound
Ya this game just sucks period. If I wanted to play one of the RPG assassins creed’s, I’d go play them. I played it for about 20 mins, and deleted it. Thank god I didn’t pay for this garbage game.
Well to be completely fair, all of the pokemons suck these days. First few generations were ok, the games were alrighty-roo but then it just started getting ridiculous.
the people who disliked are the ones who believe omastar is better than wooper, which is a crime against humanity
Hey there Davo what do you think of Palworld? Also when will you come back?
In summary of the video: Legends: Arceus is to Breath of the Wild as Starbound is to Terraria
That intro brought me straight back to the Lumbridge chicken farm.
Why can't I heal my party with Blissey's soft-boiled? 😭
Put the judge function at the very beginning if we don't want to play til til post game
Where are u bro
Why haven't I seen this video before I bought it, this game is beyond sucks, it's imgaginably bad for a company that's been active known and loved since my childhood, it's so lazily made, it seems to me that ppl recomending it as a prank at this point.
Im a simple guy. I hear music from mystery dungeon explorers of sky in the background and it makes me happy
Wasn’t Wooper in the Sinnoh Dex? Maybe they weren’t there yet in the time of PLA but still
My problems with Legends Arceus
1. The lack of battling and emphasis on catching
2. The fact that the Pokedex completion is MANDATORY for the sake of progression
3. The battle system really made things harder for me cos there were times when i didn't even get to do ANYTHING in a fight
THERES NO WOOPERS!?! T-Awe thats a grievous SIN right there. smh >:/ WTF GF?
The game would have benefitted from being purely Gen 1 and 2.
In a game based on a Gen 4 region ?
a video on the new Pokemon game with a new version of Wooper?
The reason why I am here is to listen to someone’s opinion about this game without it feeling fake :)…. WE ALL KNOW WHO IM TALKING ABOUT
I absolutely hate that they make it so you have to catch a Pokémon multiple times to complete a single entry in the Pokédex
@@MysticAceXYZ Here's hoping, just remember to make them earn your money, my friend.
@@Dal_9000 I won't buy it, i am just looking forward to it.
This game was one of or if not the worst pokemon "main series" game I've ever played
Okay but Pokemon Scarlet and Violet have NEW Woopers
The male protagonist looks like a boy that wants to become a girl, no lie. Just facts. Look at them short shorts. My god! Grown men will skip violet and scarlet. It’s a kid’s game. Legends arceus where it’s at
This doesn’t sound like arceus is a shit game, but rather a good game with valid criticisms. You’re honestly just complaining for the sake of complaining.
As I said when I finished the game, it is a step in the right direction. Granted they made quite a few backsteps to get there.
Wish I saw this before buying the game, Def got burned out trying to complete side quests and eventually got bored once I reached the last area. Still excited nonetheless for Gen 9
Too be honest this just seems just a you problem….. Literally
why didn't anyone complain about how double battles don't exist, and you can't choose to fight with more than one pokemon at a time, even when abunch of wild pokemon started to chase you!!
You hit the nail on the head sir, Gamefreak has spent so long in its comfort zone they have no idea what they’re doing on the switch and it’s more apparent with each release.
