Damn right it dose the game was and is astounding
They unretconned her death but it's still kind of "eh" damage control. It's revealed that the Leliana you meet in DA2 and DA: Inquisition is a Fade spirit of some sort, only if she died in Origins.
Personally, while I appreciate this as a form of retcon damage control, I still would've preferred they replace her if she died in Origins. Otherwise, why even give the option of killing her in the first place?
This theme manages to be melancholic, romantic and epic at the same time. It's incredible.

"this game had a soul". This is my main issue with DA Inquisition. I found no soul in it in all of the huge areas. DA2 was a tragic mess, but it was a technical mess that had a soul buried in it. Inquisition was just a shiny game... I mean, the Jaws of Haakon DLC gave me more emotions than the main game. What's up with that.
@@olirikable Yes, sadly DAI it feels weird, empty. Not really a bad game, but i feel they could have done it better and more lore friendly. I don’t think DA4 will be much better.
@@olirikable I disagree. the main story, companions, soundtrack and arts in inquisition were really good. I think where the game fell short is in the side content and combat system. It's just a massive downgrade in depth and customization compared to origins. The game definitely had soul, its just that whoever was the lead designer in building interactive and engaging areas absolutely sucked. Sadly that's a very big portion of the game.

DA:O was one of those rare games that write themselves into your heart and you never forget them.
I still remember when I finished the game and end titles rolled down and I started crying. I did not want it to end: I did not want to leave the story.
I am like you bro…I love this game I can’t believe I haven’t played it until this late 😭 I completed the series and I have to say this game is so so close to the heart, even tho DAI had a very decent story and compelling character storylines.
The reason its so rare is because this game had a total of 6-10 years development time (I've seen multiple sources cite different amount of years so its hard to say for sure). Compare this to DA2 only had a year and a half (Production lasted just nine months). Dragon Age Inquisition was a total of 4 years with 3 years of Production.
@@JustiXNL Neverwinter Nights 2002 and Kotr 2002 were bioware. I wouldn't say this game got more than 6 years of dev time.

And I lit already said it was somewhere 6-10 years based on multiple sources. I know one of the writers David Gaider said in a eurogamer interview he was at least busy with it the game for 6 years. The Wiki pages quotes a source saying development for the first Demo started in 2002 (the game released in 2009) meaning the game took at least 7 years to develop. This doesn't even take preproduction into account as they are talking about development of a demo in 2002. Which is why it probably took more then 7 years.

+alex14676 As Origins is really good, the other ones are too, any Dragon Age game wasn't too big on exploring, if anything Inquisition is more open and exploitative(but it more or less bores me), you can't go certain places in Origins or DA2 which I didn't like too much, and I don't like how there is less RPG elements in the newer games, but I do like how they made playing it strategic in fighting was made an option rather than mandatory like Origins was (I sucked at it : / )
GamerWolf You have to take in consideration that's how it's supposed to be. Strategy was very integral with isometric rpgs especially the ones made by Bioware. DA 2 barely had any of the strategic elements that Origins had and Inquisition canned what was left of it.
Joshua Derr I am aware of that, some of my favorite games is KoTOR and KoTOR 2 which I think are very strategic games, but I personally enjoy in Dragon Age it being a choice, I haven't used the the strategy view in DA:I much I don't know if it sucks or not. I'm not enjoying how BioWare is changing, (I blame EA) they're becoming less RPG and more Fantasy/Action Games with a very heavy story. I'll still play the games and enjoy them too because I love the stories and universe, but I certainly didn't like the lack of dialogue options, choices, and cutscene type conversations in DA:I, along with major RPG elements taken away

The Corpulent Panda I can't agree at all. Inquisition have great story, i love beeing herold, and my advaisors, full open world, and details like portraits of my companions... I just can't stand battle system. In fact, team do what they will, Tactics only allow them to use abbilities, not depend on situation like previous games. In third person, you play like some hack'n'slash, and 'tactical' view shows even less then default view.
DA2 was great refresh, mindfull battles, with cool looks. in DAI, it's more like keeps you character attack.

EXACTLY especially the Ostagar aftermath part, the music turns to melancholic like in Flemeth's hut and Alistair's grief over losing Duncan. "For the Grey Wardens" part also reminds me of the march to Denerim and the speech of soon-to-be King Alistair (in my version).

The only downside of the "first time" is its very difficult on first timer. Remember the first town? There is an encounter which you battle 20+ damn wolves. I know it sounds easy but believe me, wolves here in orgins can stunlock your whole party.

Best game in the RPG Genre. Sure the graphics are dated, BUT STORY! CHARACTERS! VOICE ACTING! Love them all. Love the characters. This soundtrack tells a lot of the story in it of itself.
at least the graphics have a bit of life in them (good expressions, some unique animations, and some interesting art direction)

I had to change my hard drive not long ago. I didn't care for any other games, but I took Origins to safety and installed it again on new drive. This is a masterpiece and I'll never uninstall it willingly.

But my god, regardless this game just has something nostalgic, special, beautiful. As everyone else says, it has soul. Strange because no other game has the same thing to the point where a memory actually feels real (except for Witcher 3 possibly).

I had played Dragon Age: Inquisition recently. It was my first introduction to the series lol. So many people told me that I needed to play Dragon Age: Origins as well. So, with no particular feelings one way or the other. I got the game. It loaded up. And I heard this. I was so taken by the song, my mouth literally dropped open and I sat there for 5 minutes just listening to this main theme. Honestly, this is probably one of the most beautiful themes I have ever heard in my life. Being musically inclined, I love when video games have really good music design. And just by listening to this music, I was in complete awe. I've never heard anything quite like this. I just had to look this song up on UA-cam lol.
ive just started playing inquisition in mid 2020 before moving to dragon age 2 then origins. i get shivers when i heard origin's theme song.

I've returned here after watching Dragon Age Veilguard cartoonish fortnite-like trailer and I'm feeling sad as fuck tbh
So many memories. The game was so good and had so much personality that I had the pleasure of playing with other classes and races just to get a different (and rewarding) gaming experience. Besides the characters having interesting and diverse profiles, the dialogues had authenticity and quality. It was easy for the player to get involved in history and with "people" like that.
Yup, I wish they make a movie out of the game.

after having the game for nearly 3 years, I finally sat down and played it for the first time this past week.
I had started with DAI back in 2018, played 2 for the first time a few months ago, and now I finally got to play origins.
Yes, I am incredibly tardy to the party.
And while I'm mad at myself for not buying these back when they originally came out, I feel like because I waited til now?? I could fully appreciate these games.
I'm replaying the whole series in order, now, and just.
It's so nice to truly grasp everything now that i've played them all.

Origins is one of my favorite games and only DA game i enjoyed i tried Inqusition like 3 or 4 times but story and characters are not interesting in my opinion atmosphere is also completly different than in DAO i completed DA2 once but dont want to play this game ever again.

Many fantasy soundtracks use this to make epic sounding choirs, but the lyrics they sing are just there to sound cool. A conlang, like any natural language, is comprised of a set of specified sounds, rules on how to string these sounds together, and those form individual morphemes, or units of meaning. With these units of meaning, you can then build full words and sentences. Therefore, it's not gibberish anymore. I don't know to what extent Elvehn was constructed and how consistent the grammar is, but I do know that there's at least some regularity.

Christian charles Definitely. The combat is kinda meh but there a hell of a lot more abilities and the tactics system has yet to be matched by any of the titles following it.

Максим Хоменко What? I understand that some of the characters in DA2 had a nice character development, but they are a bunch of zombies if compared to the characters in DAO. I honestly cared only about Varric and one or two characters, while in DAO I cared about every single companion in my party.
This, Fallout New Vegas and The Witcher 3 is like the holy trinity of modern RPGs and the hope that RPGs will one day return to their former glory. I am playing this game right now for the first time and I've got to admit that it's much better than I expected, it is awesome and this is without any doubts one of the best themes I've ever heard in a videogame, it's simply amazing. The first time I heard it when I opened the game it was like: My god, it is simply delicious. What a great game!!
I've played this game since it came out, every year I play through it twice... its 2020 and I have officially done every quest with every race and every class... still playing... BEST RPG EVER MADE

Both my friend and I enjoyed DA2 - sure it doesn't live up to the scope of the 1st one, but it certainly has its moments. Personally I think if DA2 had been released first, a lot more people would've enjoyed it for its own merits.

I find DA2 to be largely a completely different genre of game. The soul of Dragon Age Origins was a CRPG with elements of action RPG in it. DA2 was a console action RPG and just felt like an entirely different sort of game to me because of it -- and often rushed. I stormed the same beachhead heaven knows how many times.
That is exactly what happened to me. Read about Inquisition, started listening to the OST. Reinstalled Dragon Age. Going for a perfect playthrough.
The game that truly makes me feel like a hero.
Ya And i wish the Game Never End and the Story of Our Hero keep going by DLC and Games.

I think every game in this franchise was excellent, but Origins seemed particularly special to me. I'm not sure if there's any particular reason other than it being our introduction to the setting, but everything about it just seemed awesome.

One of *the* greatest games of all time, hands down zero dispute.
So much nostalgia. I would often wait and listen to the vocals before I would load up a save.
11 years later and this game is still unbeatable! Seriously this is the best in the series!
Played recently, definitely a great game. I also played the second one, now I'm on Inquisition. All the three had their qualities, now none will surpass what I felt after the end of Origins. The classic hero's journey, which I made sure to end as heroically as possible. A real masterpiece.
Everytime I hear this theme, I have a flashback of that one scene where if you were a human noble, your father's spirit comes to give you a message about how your destined for greatness. I just feel the music is a key factor in emphasizing this epic and immense journey that DA:O sends you on, reminding you how pivotal your role in it all is.

Started playing it again.Now im Daelish Rogue.
Played through DA2 and all it's DLCs, but had to stop Inquisition a little after Skyhold. I just can't bring myself to make a full PT of it after the first couple times. DAO is is still the best game I've played.

This game was soulful, deep and phenomenal. Their characters were so memorable. After a decade, I still remember it so vividly. Origins, Awakening, Witcher trilogy..... milestones in the rpg genre....
Back in the days when EA still managed to publish some epic titles.
Then got greedy and started to fuck Bioware over.
Actually, at the time, BioWare was not part of EA. :D
Iirc DA:O was released after EA buyed Bioware.
But EA had not any part in it's development. It's not in the credits.
Well, yeah but you know what i meant. Even as a publisher they published great games back in the day.
