seriously though... i just finished dragon age inquisition for the first time and happened to romance THE damned dread wolf of all people, got attached then my heart torn tf out. yeeesh.
Yeah... Solas, I'm fine with you destroying the world, or whatever, even with comprimising the inquisition... but could you atleast, before you leave, give me back my shit?
"I like the stories where the villain was the man beside you the whole time." - Varric If anyone's wondering when he says that, it's part of his party banter with Iron Bull.
Sharifah A. Najjar well look at it from his point of view. He literally condemned his entire race into dying and their children into slavery. The least he could do for them is to bring them back to their original power, even if it means death for everyone else.
The most chilling Solas moment is when he asks the Inquisitor what they'd do if they found that their efforts to make the world a better place made it worse, and the Inquisitor answers something along the lines of "keep on trying". Solas requites this reply with a warm smile to a true friend - because that's exactly what he wants to hear, and exactly what he's doing, from his point of view.
I think.... I think the dream of DA4 should stay as it is. The promise of hope. The promise of redemption, unfulfilled. I can't say I haven't lost faith in Bioware in the interceding years. I want to be proven wrong.. but I just don't know anymore.
@@tomblantz2107 both elves and dwarves say that humans once did not exist in thedas and came later after the veil was created, its not clear where they came from but before solas revealed what actually happened it was thought that they came from par vollen and their arrival caused elves to start ageing. now with new information its not really clear.
When Lavellan asked Solas why he disrupted the Qunari plot when he was going to destroy the world regardless his response, though simple, gave me chills. "Because I am not a monster..." that reminded me that he isn't an evil man. Just a conflicted one.
Dammit! We save Ferelden, and they're angry. We save Orlais, and they're angry. We close the Breach - twice, and my own hand wants to kill me! Could one thing in this fucking world just stay fixed?!
Nope! This is Dragon Age, where s%#@ hits the damn fan every couple of years, or five, or ten, whatever! Varric sums it up best:' This s%#@ is weird!'.
DA:I was a 100 hour interlude for emotionally attaching you to the potentially best villain of any story. It's going to be heart-wrenching opposing this guy in DA4
kelsey lawson Bruh, rookie numbers. Lol jk, but in all seriousness did you not play any dlc? There is an absolute ton of farming you have to do if you want to make the beat armour and weapons you possibly can. You can make better stuff after you get Tresspaser schematics. I've beaten the game several times. I've put in a ridiculous amount of hours into this game and it's predecessors. There's a ton to do. I'm a completionist, I did every little thing I could do. Found every codex entry I could, every scrap of lore, every tile I could. Found everything in 2 play throughs. If I were you I would continue to play the game. It's a really good game.
This is 2016, now I look back and realize Solas is probably the best character Bio created in DA and ME. Instead of anger, greed or revenge, one's guilt is the most convincing reason that pushes a good man(elf) to do bad things he hates. "I take no joy in destroying your world", Solas knows his plan is horrific and wrong but he simply can't choose to live with the guilt of killing his own race and do nothing.
Truly one of the best characters I think Ive EVER seen, no joke; such a complex character with so much history. There's the Faustian devil like gaunter o'dimm from the witcher, then there's Solas, who you can completely understand even if you wanna slap him silly lol
AtgreatR9 I like that Gaunter, a.k.a the Witcher Satan, is an enigma. It's the only time in the game we see see Geralt confronted with something paranormal that he has absolutely no frame of reference for. Normally he's like: "Miscarriage Daemon? Must be Tuesday. I got this."
Trevor Morris could have made Veilguard at least more bearable. But here we are, living in regret like Solas. We'll miss you and we'll miss everything you could have been.
Unless you're like me who had to play a female elf and romanced him. "My friend" becomes "My love" and it's awful, and heart wrenching, and I hate/love Biowear for doing this to me!
Personally, this to me is the best of the soundtrack they have given us for any and all Dragon Age games. There's such an array of emotion that depicts the character Solas truly is. The tenderness he may feel for the Inquisitor, the terror and rage, and the indecisiveness. As a whole this could be the theme to the entire franchise. Absolutely stunning. It never fails to make me want to replay the entire series again just from listening.
It doesn't give off a good or evil vibe. Just a feeling of hopelessness that life in Thedas is an error of that ever-lurking greater, unfathomable power that means to fix itself.
Really good track and I would play dragon age all over again too get that vibe and wipe solas too if dragon age 4. Comes on Lavellan needs wipe his ass
I kind of also want them to get round to showing us what happens at Weisshaupt Fortress. Something happens we know this both from the Origins Epilogue and also Inquisition and if we are going to Tevinter in DA4 then its only a hop and skip away in the southern area of the Anderfels near the Tevinter border
Hell yeah! So many years has passed, so many time to formulate a great story. I hope its a big game! If solas' and my female lavellan's story arc doesnt finish, i wont ever buy from bioware again. Ever. lol
Raise your hand if you have ever been personally victimized by a Bioware game. . . . . . . . I mean, yeah, it hurt when Alistair broke up with me because of my race. It was even worse when I had to stab the terrorist abomination I had let move in with me. But this? THIS? Damn you, Solas. You beautiful bastard.
If Alistair is hardened, he wishes to become King of Ferelden, and if you're playing an Elf (not sure about dwarves) that romanced him - he's unintentionally forces himself in a position where he has to break up with you.
If he's hardened, you can still convince him to keep you as his mistress. I didn't harden him my first play through because I was having too much fun babying him. But, I also wanted him to be king because I hated Anora. If you're anything other than a human noble, a non-hardened Alistair will break up with you, no ifs ands or buts.
THe companions in Da:i almost lived up to the expectations i had for the Da2 companions after Origins. But i absoluely agree SOlas is by far the coolest. ALong with iron Bull and Sten for me personally.
Solas has the potential to be the best Dragon Age villain, he has it all. - He has a connection to a prior character you played so we know him very, very well. Even if seen from another lens, we'll understand him. He's not evil, he's not cruel. Very little introduction will be required. For people who romanced him, it'll all sting double to go against him. - When he's doing badass things, part of us will be rooting for our boy Solas and his badassery because he's still our boy somehow. If some jackasses get punted into oblivion by messing with our guy, we'll secretly love it. It's us as players who will make him stop, and nobody else. - He is a tragic figure that remembers a world that nobody else does and that was far beyond the cruel and plain world he is forced to live in. When he mentions how the world feels like a world of tranquil to him, you can begin to imagine it. Would you want to kill all those tranquil? No, but they're only half of what they should be. Tragic figures with half lives. Better they die in comfort so that other who come after may have better lives. Immediatly, you understand his goal and can you objectively say he's wrong? - Dude has history and eclipses the inquisitor in power infinitely by the end. Next to Fen'Harel, Corypheus was an ignorant, arrogant fool. Solas knows everything, he understands what was. As cryptic as Flemeth was, Solas would have understood every word from her. This is the most epic opponent, literally out of legend, that we're up against. - Dude's got style. He looks amazing and has the most awesome soundtrack. Finally, Imagine 3:26 on being the music that plays when you fight him. You should stand no chance but you've prepared, brought numerous allies and found him at the last moment. He turns slowly and closes his eyes briefly. It's come to this, he thinks to himself. He had hoped to avoid it but he knew it was inevitable. Maybe the inquisitor is there too. If it's his lover, pain flashes across his face, hesitation for a while as she appeals to him. He makes her an offer to stay at his side and maybe he can protect her but she refuses. Solas makes peace with the fact that he is a doomed man who can only choose between living with one impossible sin or living with the other. He draws his staff, resigned to see it through, just like he knows you will. In his mind, if he wins, it was meant that way and if he does not then it was meant the other way. Get it right Bioware. Omg please get it right...
I had another idea in mind. If the Inquisitior chose to still have the inquisition,he will find a way to bring back both worlds somehow even if it takes decades. While in tevinter is their distraction. Then the Inquisitior found to be the vassal of his world but there were two artifacts. So he finds solas and give it to him. Solas recognized it and he thought it was long gone before his time. But the only way to bring back both worlds is to kill one or the other. This artifact is like a lock between worlds but it needs a powerful sacrifice. One must die to become the lock and the other must live as it's key, even in death a finger could open this lock. So now they have to fight for it for it is they are not necessary to their worlds anymore.
I'd say any option which involves forcefully killing millions if not billions of lives is objectively wrong. If Solas truly believes that he's no god, then he shouldn't start acting like one. I think this is more likely his guilt overcoming his senses/better nature. After all, the reason why he put up the veil in the first place was to save the very people that he chose to sacrifice now.
@@thatbloomer5642 Oh, certainly so. But the element in play is also what Solas considers a life worth living. Imagine you lived in a normal world, but you know there's a magical sensory wave coming that will likely kill anyone who can sense it in any way. It's abstract but roll with it. So you sever people from their senses to save them. You have no idea what exactly to expect but you're sure they will survive this way. The act knocks you out. Then you wake up much later in a world where nobody can see, hear, taste or smell anything. The concepts of music, art, cooking and so much more are alien to them. They live bland, static lives of monotonous emptiness in your eyes. You see them fumble in a world they don't truly know, living half lives. They themselves are sentient and don't mind this. But you know you did this to them. You took everything from them and condemned them to this. You could live forever in a world where nobody knows what they're missing, where you're the only one who still does, constantly reminded of what you did. Or you could decide you can't live with it, and try to undo it, come what may because the world you created is as much a nightmare as the one you prevented. You're a doomed person at any point. There is no good choice.
I'm a 20 year old, adult woman and I'm still not over this guy. Seriously, whenever I hear this theme I'm like "Does crying really help me now?" Edit: I'm 24 now, still not over this guy and am really anticipating the coming of DA4. PLZ, Bioware, I just want closure. Edit 2.0: I'M 26 NOW! AND DA4 FINALLY GOT ANNOUNCED! IS THIS THE FIRST BIT OF INNER PEACE I'M FEELING?! Edit 3.0: I will be 28 when DA:Veilguard will be released. I can't belive I will actually get closure. Istg, that's all I want at this point, a statisfying end to this turmoil ;_;
Everyone talks about how impactful it is with the romance but it feels much more impactful simply with a high approval friend, he would be biased towards his elven lover but a human, dwarf, or qunari friend would actually be biased the opposite way.
@@archbishopofthecrusades9579 Exactly, in the end friendship ends up being the best option. I thank god I went with Cullen in my gameplay. In Origins I sacrificed my character, that is, poor Alistair was left alone. Then later i find out that Hawke distanced herself from Mehril to "keep her safe", and the only male character I could have related before instead of her was a terrorist I was going to end up killing in the end of the Second game. I was so happy to see at least one of my characters get married and live a normal life afterwards, even if for a short time, complete with sister-in-law, nephew and even a dog. No tragic romance this time.
I was just thinking : the part where you have to go in the future with Dorian and discover how rotten this world is, might have been done for us to understand Solas' feelings and perspective. We would have done anything and kill everybody to go back to "our present"... just like Solas when he woke up and discover the future! (I'm French, don't kill me for the mistakes plz)
@Hera Shepard what if a nuclear winter change our current world while we’re still in our safe bunker, and when we emerge, new life has already adapted, could we ever restore the environment as good as before, as the cost of new life being purged, or we could coexist? So many we need to consider. Just like how he must be thinking?
Never considered that, but it does make sense. I always saw it as a preview of what would happen if Solas succeeds. The world without the veil was a nightmare. Even future Solas called it an abomination that must never come to pass. Seeing that makes me side with Javik: "Sharpen your knife Commander. His is a voice that must be silenced, and a throat that must be slit."
Solas might be one of Bioware's best written charcters. Never before have I felt so torn about what has to be done. I will stop him by any means to save this world but I will take zero joy in it :( His romancers must be feeling absolutely broken right now.
Trevor Morris in my humble estimation redefined what is possible with a video game soundtrack. I challenge anyone who says that video games can't be art to listen to this and say it again. This music inspires a whole tempest of emotions. Only true art can do that.
I preferred Inon Zur's dragon age origins soundtrack.Just had more soul and gave a distinctive atmosphere to the masterpiece that is origins. But this piece is bloody brilliant.
@@pedromedeiros1186 you can’t romance him as a human, and just being a close friend wouldn’t be enough to tip him over the edge I think, his vhenan though? I imagine he’s tearing himself apart at having to leave her

I have recently started playing Dragon Age Inquisition again and I cannot even look at Solas the same way anymore. Like when you first meet him and Varric in Haven, it was crazy how much he was lying to you and everyone else about the origin of the anchor and his so called "speculations and theories" about the veil breach. Almost everything coming out of his mouth was a lie. When I first played this game I was just under the impression that Solas was a great critical thinker. And now that I've played the DLC I know better. He was just living up to his mythological characteristic, being a trickster.
ShaGojyo2612 I think he tells you the truth almost entirely throughout the game but lies through omission. I'll agree he lies about not knowing how the Breach was caused, but even that might be true to in a sense, if he didn't realise what Cori did would result in the Breach. The only other time he directly lies is when he talks about his time in court, or "walking in the fade" through them. The rest of his "lies" are truths worded so that you interpret them how he wants, rather than a direct lie. That's how I see it, anyway
I swear on that goddamn torch I'm carrying for Solas, if we're not given a way to redeem him in DA4, I am going to drive to Bioware Studios and throw a crying tantrum worthy of a sugared up 3-year old that's missed its last three naps.
Daniella Muñoz There were some hints on the wartable.. If you romanced him in Origins and if you survived, your inquisitor receives a letter from him, but it's addressed to Leliana.. Also.. If you do the mission "contact Hero of Ferelden" he shows up in that missionline
As one of those that speculated about Fen'Harel and the maker and the old gods being the forgotten ones and all that back when Origins came out, I can say this twist was still one of the craziest things I've ever seen
Lavi Bookman Technically he is. He did create the veil and the humans didnt start to exist until after the veil. Or at least the humans have no records when there wasnt a veil. So they may have just been primitive beings unable to progress because they didnt have the benifits of being immortal and their race being universally able to wield magic like the elves were and had. Its entirely plausible their idea of a maker is a fantasy based on legends from an impossibly powerful being who indirectly created their race with the formation of the veil and all their teachings of the maker are based on what ancient humans witnessed from Solas and what he did that shook and changed the entire planet in a single day. I cant imagine what it must have been like to witness it.
oh what could've been... solas was such an amazing and well written a character in inquisition. a character who loves his people as much as he loves the current world he lives in, and all that emotion was shaped by the journey we've taken with him in inquisition. And now in veilgaurd they completly ignored the source material. Solas abhores blood magic? He considers himself a god? what is this? why did they take solas from an interesting character to ''hurr durr he has a big ego''
That doesn't really embody him at all. That's the first two encounters. But by the end, you should have seen everything, and his convictions being shaky
The game's story has so much more of an impact if you also romance Solas, tbh. The game is good in an of itself but with the added introspection into Solas' character it goes from good to simply amazing! And heartwrenching. Thanks, BW.
Human Male Warrior (like DAO, romancing Morrigan) was what marketing leaned towards, Human Female Warrior is what marketing allowed (with the alternate trailers; maybe romancing Cullen), but by the end, Elven Female (Rogue? maybe - romancing Solas) is all but canonized to the fandom that stuck through the storyline and expansions. --- Sorry Dwarves and Qunari, hope you get your stuff later. Which is likely considering all the dwarf story hints and the northward movements closer to Qunari lands.
Yeah I can see that too, but still, I've never felt more involved in a video game than with my Male Elven mage and the deep friendship my man had with Solas, I actually really liked Solas. Now, I really can't wait for the next game.
Hope they bring back Alistairs "old ball and chain "(Queen Warden) so she can bitchslap Solas with female Lavellans aid. For real we need to battle an actual god in DA4... Sooo.. we need a truly godlike hero in the next game with depth., supported by the old legendary team + new company. I fear this task is to big for Bioware. They trapped themselves with this and as bunnies (No Warden in DA:I and the Hawke or Stroud was intended to be Warden or Hawke I see what u did there Bioware, my Warden would have raped Nightmare so stfu) as they are, I dont see the way out of this..To much potential but easy to fck it up if they go for the casual, medicore-ish writing...(Treapasser was ok yes, but "Coriwhatnot" wasnt... )
***SPOILERS*** I ran into a spoiler that Solas would leave the Inquisition before completing the game (I tried to keep my nose out of it as much as possible, not even knowing if it were preventable or not.) So I made him elven armor as a gift and renamed it "Lanun sul ma'lath, o Mienna" which is "Gift for my love, from Mienna (which is my Lavellan's name)". I checked my inventory after he left to see if it was gone. It was and I was happy that he took it with him.
@@tomblantz2107 cuz the orb corpypheus had was his own artifact from his time in the ancient elven empire when he rebelled against the elven gods aka the Evanuris. Solas was too weak from his hibernation to able to use the orbs power effectively so he allowed corypheus to take it and unlock the orb at the cost of his life. Solas didnt expect corypheus to survive via the taint ressurection that the original darkspawn magisters have. The entire plot of inquisitions base game was solas simply trying to get his orb back and reclaim his former Godlike power to then enact his plan to restore the ancient elven empire by destroying the veil he had created. Unfortunately he grew close to the inquisitor either as a lover or a good friend and had to leave because his sentimentality to them and the rest of the party and the growing fondness of the world born of his old act was causing him to waver from his original goal. Restore the old world at any cost.

The fact that Solas still willing to reason with Varric despite him still being called "Chuckles" after all that happened, led me to believe that there may be a chance to save him somehow. One can dream though.
I'm actually praying Bioware don't kill him in the first 2 hours of gameplay because of the name change and "not the only villain" thing. What a massive waste of literal 10 years of build up it would be. lol.
@@moisesfreire6408 Yeah, it's a damn shame because I loved the name focusing on Dreadwolf. My hope is the same as yours and Solas is a vital part of the game's story. Changing him for some villains we have no attachment to would be tragic.

+Illusive Man Bioware will likely release their new IP prior to DA4. I imagine things will go - ME:A - 2017 New IP - 2017/18 DA4 - 2019 5/6 years is enough time to get out the next DA installment. I can't wait though; need Solas back in my life, the epic mofo.
BDevilScholar Oh yeah I had forgotten about the new IP actually, pretty excited for it nonetheless. If it's something to go along with ME and DA it's gonna have high expectations.
never stopped listening to this specific edit of this track over the years. and now that datv is coming out soon i literally can't stop listening to this!! I need the next game nowwww, i need to know what happens in solas's story!!
its really saddening to see one of your companions to become your new enemy...in hard times you both fought, cried, and laugh together. now...we need to redeem him from his own ambitions as a friend. this is really saddening T^T
I really hope, Bioware will take care of him in the next part. It would be a shame if they would just forget about Trespasser and his lore.. Just as they did with Zev..
What did they forget about Zevran? Its not likely that anything Antivan Crows is going to be a bigger deal unless some lead developer has a thing for them (like the case with Tali's role turning out how it did in ME3) or the series goes to Antiva.
There is always space for assassins. Orlais might be a great example. As you said: the lead devs will have to add some content, but I suppose that noboby would be mad if Zevran returned with the crows
Radja Amidala Ok I browsed the Wiki and saw how Inquisition treated him. Seems the story is trying to move him out of the Free Marches (DA2) and perhaps westward (Anderfels? Tevinter?), going with the Warden if romanced. Left the Crows.
I don't think I'll ever understand why they chose _Hans Zimmer_ to make the OST for DA4 instead of Trevor Morris or at least someone who understood Dragon Age like he did, even more so now seeing that DA4s OST completely pales in comparison to Inquisition and Trespasser.
Because this is a Corporate game. It's a result of the increasing Corporatization of everything we love---a way to turn everything bland, milquetoast, and unoffensive.
Freaking hell, Bioware. Your stories tend to be pretty cliché, down the well trodden path (not that I have a problem with this), but your characters ... your characters! They keep making an absolute sobbing wreck out of me. And I keep coming back for more. Now imagine a game set in open world by Bethesda/CDPR, with side quests and gameplay by CDPR, story written by Obsidian and characters by Bioware ... Perfection, I tell you. Utter perfection.
Aelarr If Bioware removes itself from EA then teams up with Obsidian then it'll be perfect for me. I admire Sawyer in Obsidian. Hope there's no lootboxes in the story mode for DA4.
Every time I listen to the Solas theme (whether its Dark Solas or Lost Elf Theme) I can't help but feel like Solas is a tragic, noble, sad character and not a villain at all .... there isn't a note of wickedness or evil in these musical themes. This is music you compose for heroes in tragedies.
@@juanlaise1059 How is he crazy? A temporary solution to protect his people ended up brutally harming them in the long run. He could not foresee this, and now he wants to undo it. @@TheStraightestWhitest He is crazy because he is willing to kill countless people to do what he believes is right. He is not above redemption, but he has to be stopped.
@@juanlaise1059 That's only if you consider humans as "countless people"; a ridiculous and biased point of view. Humanity, pressed against saving their own kind along with added luxury, will destroy all other races/species. Our real world is evidence of that as well as current Thedas. So don't give me the "genocide" argument. It is ignorant at best, hypocrital at worst. In a way he already has a similar guilt, having his people, once immortals, die by the millions due to the aging consequences of the veil. We must stop him because of our investment in this world, not because he is necessarily wrong.
@@leone41ll So am I biased for not supporting genoicide? Humans are capable of both bad and good. Our history proves it. It's just that the actions of evil men resonate more than the good deeds. Happens in our everyday too. What do I care that I had a wonderful meal with my coworkers if I argue with a friend later on? What matters that Schindler saved thousands of jews if Hitler killed much more? And many people in Thedas have done good deeds. You are the hypocritical one, thinking that elves are somehow better than humans while they have had their share of evil deeds, like slavery and genoicide. If you support Solas actions you are just as misguided as he is. You think he is justified with the actions he intends to do simply because humans would to. If he is so "superior" then he should be better than us. And he isn't.
This is a truly beautiful piece. Its signature melody represents the conflict of the main character facing the once "loved" or "loyal" friend who turns out to want to destroy the world (and restore the former one) in order to right a wrong made eons ago. I played as a female elf; I nearly died when this unfolded, much like my main character. I couldn't believe it.
In DAO, back in the day, I was like "Hmmm. Fen'Harel. Trickster gods are fun. Cool story, guys." as I wander off on my Aeducan warden to go stop the Blight. I literally just had a vague interest cus I like mythology. DAI, finding out the elven gods were actually real beings and that I romanced *The Dread Wolf himself*? It took an hour before I was over it enough to type coherently to my friend and spaz out again. lol
First Dragon Age game I ever played: Inquisition First Inquisitor: Female, elven mage First Romance: Solas Fucking. Devastated. I couldn't believe it. I fell for it.
I was the very first person streaming the DLC (Even asked one of the writers watching at the time just to be sure!) to complete it so there was literally no way to spoil it for me :') First time I asked to join Solas in hopes that my Inquisitor would betray my DA4 character! Second time round I think I believe it's all a ruse, maybe he's really playing the long game and is an actual trickster bad guy god of destruction after all?
I did the exact same! It is who I myself would be in the game. I feel your heartache - it is mine also! Our story must continue in Dragon Age 4...must find closure!
Same. I met Solas, who I didn't think was really handsome or anything--but when I started talking to him...I found him to be so interesting, fascinating. I was a little suspicious of him but the more I spoke with him...the more interested in his character I became. So when he turns on you and they reveal who he really is--I was cursing myself for ignoring my instincts. And then the Trespasser DLC made it worse. I was hoping for either closure or for an explanation or something. And you really don't get it. And in DA4, they've set him up as being the next villain (though I kind of wonder if the real Flemeth won't take the role of the Big Bad and Solas may still be able to be convinced to come back to you. Flemeth indicated in DA2 that she was capable of being in multiple forms and bodies. So I don't think that Solas actually 'killed' her at the end. I think it was just a fragment of her. So if the 'canon' pairing was an elven Inquisitor and Solas--then the Inquisitor better appear in DA4. And I hope that Cullen finally joins your party as a playable character. That'd be awesome. Dude is a boss.
SCdreamdrawer sailtheplains My current head canon is that DA4 is called Dragon Age: Revolution. This instalment is about a Tevinter slave getting in-between multiple revolutions while on their own personal odyssey. One revolution in the Tevinter imperium, slaves v the magisterium with Dorian as our first Mentor. Nevarra royalty would be in chaos as King Markus is dead with foul play is suspected with either the Mortalitasi or "The People's Hero" Robin Hood Bernie Sanders kinda guy. The third act of the story would be whatever the personal journey of the protagonist would lead up to with your character overcoming their personal struggle and the mysterious inquisitor inviting you to the inquisition due to your heroic acts. The three acts and how they end would determine the strength of Solas in the final instalment DA5. The more you help the powerful become more powerful, increasing disparity and disillusion, the more poor people, the discriminated and slaves will rally to Solas' call. The more you make the world a better place the weaker Solas' army will be in the next game. DA5 would then be like ME3 in the sense that it's a conclusion. You would have: Your warden (or a warden companion replacement) Hawke or Allister (Or replacement??) The Inquisitor (can betray you in DA5 if she still loves Solas) Dorian and Maevaris (only Mae if Dorian dies during a failed Tevinter revolution, his death is prevented regardless of your choice by initiating the Dorian/Bull romance in DA3) Bearded and retired Cullen with his Dog (Or replacement templar if you were awful to him in DA3) Lilliana! (Alive or Lyrium Ghost) Cassandra Your DA4 Tevinter slave You would have all of them verses Solas verses The Evanuris :D
I will save you, Solas .. no matter what. You can be an Elven God, Fen'Harel, Dread Wolf .. but above all, you are my friend and I will be here awaiting your return
Hans Zimmer has made some excellent scores but it’s hard to imagine that he can top this in Veilguard. Trevor Morris went hard for the base game of DAI but he absolutely cooked in Descent and Tresspasser.
Yeah I'm sorry to say it but Zimmer is becoming really overrated. Maybe he's just not putting in the effort anymore. I adored his PotC work back in the day or Chevaliers de Sangreal, but Dune and DAV were a disappointment. Too understated for their respective stories.
@@r.kolemaistos7788 I don't think he is overrated at all. I think all his Dune soundtracks are good and the Veilguard's pale in comparison. DAV just didn't have a soul.
Replaying this game many years after I completed it the first time. Rolled a rogue human man last time and romanced Cassandra, I remember it was quite sweet Now I have a dalish warrior woman.. Listen... I 100% know what would be waiting for me in a Solas romance, but I think I'm willing to take the emotional damage lmao It's just that I love how this romance is clearly very relevant to an overarching plot
Going back to this theme, revives the gud ol' memories of this game... I wish somewhere in the DA:Veilguard/Dreadwolf, they gotta bring out Solas' theme even just a tinnie bit of theme of his~
This is like, literally, the best thing ever. I will personally strangle the bastards at BioWare if they don't hire Trevor Morris as their composer again for Dragon Age 4. He's just so, soooooo fking great.
The deepest, strongest romance Bioware ever gave us (but so sad too). Solas is complex character and not dark at all. He's just willing to retrieve the world that was his. Let's hope Bioware will gave us a DA 4 worthy of the deepness of Solas. Could even be great to play Solas team trying to rip the Veil without killing too many.
"We don't choose the smartest, the most clever, or most aggressive to be our leaders, we choose the ones who're willing to make the decisions nobody else is willing to" - Iron Bull on how the Qunari choose their leaders
im very fearful that theyre going to make 4 all about hunting down and stoping solas, with no other option. i really dont want that lmao, i really hope theres a path to save him or stop him or maybe even help him.
Bioware are run by woke activists right now. this isnt the same studio. Thank god Da:I ended in a bang cause all we are getting is creative bankruptcy's end results. Prepare for the nxt trailer of Da to focus on lgbtq companions devoid of charisma.
I've played DAI so many times, most I romanced Cullen but the third game I made I decided "hey, Maybe I should romance Solas". Holy fuck... I was very suspicious of him at first but, his witty comments, he gentle nature towards my Inquisitor made me fall for him more than Cullen ever did. I felt myself attach to my character, imagining that I was her and when Solas broke it off, I felt heart broken. I felt as if a dagger pierced my heart. It was terribly beautiful. Then along came Tresspasser, ripping me up even more... Solas is such a painfully beautiful character to romamce. Alistair was like my first "love", then Anders, then Cullen (whose romance was heartbreaking in a different way), then along crept Solas, taking our hearts and playing the music the way he wanted then shattered it.... I absolutely love BioWare for creating a character like this, for making a character that just draws you in, loves you, and then smashes your heart to pieces. BioWare did such an amazing job and I hope they continue their amazing work in DA4
There's no way i can kill him in the next game so i reaaaaally hope they'll give us a "spare him" option just like Anders otherwise i'll never be able to finish the game 😭😂
If I'm an elf character I'll probably kill him, knowing that he will just return too the heavens, you are only destroying a God's mortal body, that isn't solas anymore.
@@amenthegreat3761 But Solas himself explained that the 'evanuris' (one of which is Fen'Harel, himself.) are just powerful mages who took the title of 'gods' because their pride grew enormously. Wouldn't be so sure about him returning to the heavens.
The only thing I didn't like about Trespasser (which by the way was incredible), is that you can't support Solas on his quest to destroy the Fade, just go against him in the typical "he's the bad guy, we gotta fight him" stereotype, but I do appreciate that you can try to talk him into letting you help.
There is an option to tell him you want to help him. (while romancing Solas, base on previous conversations with him) It does change nothing. He will say ''I do not want you to see me becoming a monster',' and ''don't want you to become a monster for me'' (sort of). It makes me very sad, cause, after the game, all I want is to help him. :'( :'(
"'I'm sorry, Cole, but with your gift, I fear that you might see the path I now must walk in solitude forever. This Fate is mine alone. Indeed, I would not wish is on an enemy, much less someone I once cared for. Though you reach out in compassion, I must now insist that you *forget* "' - Solas' words to Cole
One of the writers says, it's worth to broke the player's heart if it's for a good story, and well, I perfectly agree. But. I. Need. DA4. And Trevor Morris as the composer
"The truth is much simpler, and much worse, than the Qunari believe." Knowing who he was due to the post-credit scene was nothing compared to hearing it from him 'in person' as it were. Could you *IMAGINE* our collective shock if that post-credit scene wasn't made? A whole DLC about tracking down a Solas gone rogue, trying to figure out if he was some kind of cultist fanatic for some ancient Elven god, only for him to drop the "I am no one's agent but my own" on you?
I don't care what anyyone says, EA games did this game right. They did this story right, even if it is cliff hanger. A cliff hanger, that many are waiting for more so than game of thrones.
I know it is hard to be positive in this day and age. But let's be positive for our people that made this gam,e they could be like deus ex mankind divided and leave it unattended. We should be grateful. We should be happy with EA. And no, believe me, I do not work for EA, in fact, FUCK EA, but I am grateful for what this is. If the developers could show what we see, in real life, that there is a grey area like the publisher and those who make hte game, show us, we understand. We do. Believe me, Jackclaw does and so do I along with millions of us who belive in this story that will brethe the life away.
EA, even as I dfend you, you have one chance, one chance to make a good story, fuck all that nonsense with money and everything. You make this story good, the people will buy the dlcs, the skins, whatever. iF MONEY IS WHAT YO UARE AFTER, THEN ea you threw away a story; a folklore; a religion; a lifeline, and most to people like us who grew up with this story; a final end to it all.
I didn't wait at all for GoT season 8 :') Season 7 was too much of a shit show to get my hype. Having said that DA left us on a good and sorrow note, we will see what it will bring to the next entry And D&D didn't really care at all for what they were making and screwed everyone over, while I'm pretty sure that everyone at Bioware is working hard for this one
@@tekakiuluy3221 All I ask for EA is to make this right,. they have the money, don't mess this game(sorry, STORY because they have a REALLY GOOD DAMN Story going) up. "I like the stories where the villain was the man beside you the whole time."
- Varric
If anyone's wondering when he says that, it's part of his party banter with Iron Bull.
Every villain is a hero in his own mind.
solas is not that bad, he just wants the best for his people, even if it means to kill his friends and everyone else
That is bad...
Sharifah A. Najjar well look at it from his point of view. He literally condemned his entire race into dying and their children into slavery. The least he could do for them is to bring them back to their original power, even if it means death for everyone else.
I know but its still bad
The most chilling Solas moment is when he asks the Inquisitor what they'd do if they found that their efforts to make the world a better place made it worse, and the Inquisitor answers something along the lines of "keep on trying". Solas requites this reply with a warm smile to a true friend - because that's exactly what he wants to hear, and exactly what he's doing, from his point of view.
Jan-Erik Ella solas quest and plan aint bad or evil imo. i kinda agree with him
I think.... I think the dream of DA4 should stay as it is. The promise of hope. The promise of redemption, unfulfilled. I can't say I haven't lost faith in Bioware in the interceding years. I want to be proven wrong.. but I just don't know anymore.

I'm about to be in this situation, my current Lavellan is working towards Solas.
Piper Theos it maybe sad, but totally worth it, there’s nothing wrong with solas romance
The best plot-twist in any Bioware game since KOTOR, hands-down.
"It wasn't the arrival of humans that took our immortality from us. It was me."
I KNOW hearing it gives me chills
I got spoiled but still such a great dlc
What exactly does “arrival of humans” mean?

Charles McCarthy hé will be ruthless though... hé gets shit done
You skipped shit if your play through was only 100 hours. My first play through was 150, second was 210.
My first playthrough was 26 hours wtf how
kelsey lawson Bruh, rookie numbers.
I can't wait too get the glory of destroying an Elven God.
There's the Faustian devil like gaunter o'dimm from the witcher, then there's Solas, who you can completely understand even if you wanna slap him silly lol
too bad we dont know much about gaunter. and we seen him only at the beggining and in hos dlc..
AtgreatR9
I like that Gaunter, a.k.a the Witcher Satan, is an enigma. It's the only time in the game we see see Geralt confronted with something paranormal that he has absolutely no frame of reference for.
Normally he's like:
"Miscarriage Daemon? Must be Tuesday. I got this."
He's pretty much what I imagined Revan would be, if he could remember everything.
no.
Solas' song just SCREAMS about him having dignity even though he's in pain about the choices he has to make. I love it.
Many intense feels.
He might just be one of the best characters Bioware hast brought us since DA Origins
Agreed.
Well, no wonder Solas means "pride" in Elven. Goddamn.
It'll be nice to have a reluctant villain for DA 4.
I'm glad I'm not the only one who looks at the Solas situation in this light.
Trevor Morris could have made Veilguard at least more bearable. But here we are, living in regret like Solas. We'll miss you and we'll miss everything you could have been.

What is the old elven saying...? "May the dread wolf take you"...?
And that, he did.
I did not. I would not lay with you under false pretenses.
But you lied to me! Did you really think I wouldn't have understood?
Ir abelas venan...
Tel'abelas! If you care, give me the truth!
This and lost temple
It's one the best tracks of any game imo.
Really good track and I would play dragon age all over again too get that vibe and wipe solas too if dragon age 4. Comes on Lavellan needs wipe his ass

the fact that this didnt play once except the best ending in veilguard is insane
best ending is when you get em all killed
If Solas doesn't feature prominently in DA4 we riot!
Here, here!

I mean, yeah, it hurt when Alistair broke up with me because of my race. It was even worse when I had to stab the terrorist abomination I had let move in with me. But this? THIS? Damn you, Solas. You beautiful bastard.
wait, alistair breaks up with you because of your race? which race?
If Alistair is hardened, he wishes to become King of Ferelden, and if you're playing an Elf (not sure about dwarves) that romanced him - he's unintentionally forces himself in a position where he has to break up with you.
If he's hardened, you can still convince him to keep you as his mistress. I didn't harden him my first play through because I was having too much fun babying him. But, I also wanted him to be king because I hated Anora. If you're anything other than a human noble, a non-hardened Alistair will break up with you, no ifs ands or buts.
My first character was a city elf.
Was that how it went? Man I haven't played Origins in ages, my favorite of the series hands down.

THe companions in Da:i almost lived up to the expectations i had for the Da2 companions after Origins. But i absoluely agree SOlas is by far the coolest. ALong with iron Bull and Sten for me personally.
I think the same! But I will add Dorian, I just love him, almost as much as I like Solas and Bull...
me too. love Solas and Dorian. I really love his story actually even if its sad. it kind of fits him and well I guess I jus love tragic stories :)
I agree, I think he might be my favorite character in Dragon Age.
You mustn't of played very many Bioware games then.
True Facts: The Vir Abelasan is actually filled with the tears of Solavellan fans.
lmfao yep.. pretty sure T-T still feeling the jilt

@@archbishopofthecrusades9579 Exactly, in the end friendship ends up being the best option. I thank god I went with Cullen in my gameplay. @@wreckniklewaylon8033 And now I have new appreciation for the Enclave. Thanks.

Amen to that brother!
P.S. God Bless!
Witcher 3 and Mass Effect also
I wish the soundtrack would have more music like this and what we got in the last stand at Haven. Because stuff like this is way way too rare.
MJSpiritual I was so happy when I found out Trevor Morris did the soundtrack. He is a wonderful composer.
Play this at my funeral.
Sophia Martin omg right
I just had that thought! "I want this played at my funeral..."
Well, this or the sad theme from Chrono Trigger.
If somebody in the audience has played DA:I they'll go "WTF, he's an ancient elven god?!?!" :D

"Lavellan sometimes came awake from dreams in which her lover watched her sadly from across an endless distance."
I'm making my canon Inquisitor a female elf that romances Solas just to make Dragon Age 4 that much more interesting when it finally comes out.
I would make a human, makes him regret more the decision to kill other races

I have recently started playing Dragon Age Inquisition again and I cannot even look at Solas the same way anymore. Like when you first meet him and Varric in Haven, it was crazy how much he was lying to you and everyone else about the origin of the anchor and his so called "speculations and theories" about the veil breach. Almost everything coming out of his mouth was a lie.
When I first played this game I was just under the impression that Solas was a great critical thinker. And now that I've played the DLC I know better. He was just living up to his mythological characteristic, being a trickster.
ShaGojyo2612 IKR? Stupid liar
I still think he's a great critical thinker. He's just never a good as he supposes he is. We all play tricks. Whatever.
Ellen Meerkitty exactly. I've only ever cought Solas lying once and as it turns out, he's a pretty bad liar. He is just amazing with words.
he barely lied... If you go back, you start to notice he hides the truth behind half truths mostly. And sometimes even he slips.
Who after Veilguard?
I will make you see that this world is worth saving, vhenan, however I have to. Var lath vir suledin.
And I would treasure the chance to be wrong once again. Ir abelas, Vhenan.
I swear on that goddamn torch I'm carrying for Solas, if we're not given a way to redeem him in DA4, I am going to drive to Bioware Studios and throw a crying tantrum worthy of a sugared up 3-year old that's missed its last three naps.

here I am, in 2024, breaking my heart for the 3rd time. This game...
The only character I can actually say truly broke my heart, is Solas. Here we go again ❤
Ouch I thought I had gotten over my intense grief, but this music takes me RIGHT BACK :,(
I know right!! Even now it still hurts! :(
Lucy i know this makes me want to scream in pain and anger
Damn you solas, still feeling that plot twist even now...dayum . cant wait till DA 4
I know right!? everytime I see that damn game I feel my nerves snap. lmao
still was an epic twist tho
Hopefully Zevran will return in DA4.. I really missed him. The tiny hints on him at the wartable just weren't enough
Radja Amidala where?! I didnt notice there were hints of him :( I miss him too though I married Alistair
Honestly, until this DLc, I thought Fen'harel was the Maker.
Lavi Bookman
Technically he is.
Every time Dragon age main quest ends
Solas and Morrigan: *Ight imma head out*
Both run away trough eluvians lol
I replayed the whole game for that reason alone, and jesus heckin' christ it was worth it. I can't remember the last time I cried so much. ;-;
Hope they bring back Alistairs "old ball and chain "(Queen Warden) so she can bitchslap Solas with female Lavellans aid. For real we need to battle an actual god in DA4...
Sooo.. we need a truly godlike hero in the next game with depth., supported by the old legendary team + new company. I fear this task is to big for Bioware.
They trapped themselves with this and as bunnies (No Warden in DA:I and the Hawke or Stroud was intended to be Warden or Hawke I see what u did there Bioware, my Warden would have raped Nightmare so stfu) as they are, I dont see the way out of this..To much potential but easy to fck it up if they go for the casual, medicore-ish writing...(Treapasser was ok yes, but "Coriwhatnot" wasnt... )
apokAlypse are you dummer? what are you doing here?
They've GOTTA put at least a leitmotif of this theme in Veilguard. Maybe when our Inquisitor shows up!
***SPOILERS***
I ran into a spoiler that Solas would leave the Inquisition before completing the game (I tried to keep my nose out of it as much as possible, not even knowing if it were preventable or not.) So I made him elven armor as a gift and renamed it "Lanun sul ma'lath, o Mienna" which is "Gift for my love, from Mienna (which is my Lavellan's name)". I checked my inventory after he left to see if it was gone. It was and I was happy that he took it with him.
Speak for yourself, give me back my top tier armor you egghead!
Why did he leave beforehand?!
@@ZeroOmega-vg8nq I don’t mean to sound like your effort in typing this was in vain, but I knew that. I was wondering why Solas left his party before he was done with the game?
@@tomblantz2107 cuz the orb was destroyed. His whole plan was wasted. He had to then make a choice. its really saddening to see one of your companions to become your new enemy...in hard times you both fought, cried, and laugh together. now...we need to redeem him from his own ambitions as a friend.
this is really saddening T^T
Kinda like how we saw goofy Anders becoming a civil rights terrorist with some very serious anger issues.
Okay egg, you have done it now...
You killed Bianca.
She can be repaired, no?

You know... now that you mentioned it, those companies good aspects all sort of complement each other...
They used to work together... looking qt you kotor... back in the days, without EA
Aelarr If Bioware removes itself from EA then teams up with Obsidian then it'll be perfect for me. I admire Sawyer in Obsidian.

It'd be the Forza Horizon of RPGs!
He may not be a villain like Corypheus but he is crazy.
I understand him and his reasons. I understand his guilt.
But he MUST be stopped.
@@juanlaise1059 How is he crazy? A temporary solution to protect his people ended up brutally harming them in the long run. He could not foresee this, and now he wants to undo it.
@@leone41ll
So am I biased for not supporting genoicide?
It took an hour before I was over it enough to type coherently to my friend and spaz out again. lol
Dragon Age 4 had so much potential...
First Dragon Age game I ever played: Inquisition
First Inquisitor: Female, elven mage
First Romance: Solas
Fucking. Devastated. I couldn't believe it. I fell for it.
I was the very first person streaming the DLC (Even asked one of the writers watching at the time just to be sure!) to complete it so there was literally no way to spoil it for me :')
First time I asked to join Solas in hopes that my Inquisitor would betray my DA4 character!
You would have:
Your warden (or a warden companion replacement)
Hawke or Allister (Or replacement??)
The Inquisitor (can betray you in DA5 if she still loves Solas)
Dorian and Maevaris (only Mae if Dorian dies during a failed Tevinter revolution, his death is prevented regardless of your choice by initiating the Dorian/Bull romance in DA3)
Bearded and retired Cullen with his Dog (Or replacement templar if you were awful to him in DA3)
Lilliana! (Alive or Lyrium Ghost)
Cassandra
Your DA4 Tevinter slave
You would have all of them verses Solas verses The Evanuris :D
+Old Account i like the way you think
Trevor Morris and Inon Zur should made Veilguard soundtrack, at least it would be great for sure

Hans Zimmer has made some excellent scores but it’s hard to imagine that he can top this in Veilguard. Trevor Morris went hard for the base game of DAI but he absolutely cooked in Descent and Tresspasser.

@ Rosedimitri5 cullen romance is mind numbingly boring.

I didn't know this was his theme song, damn it's good
oct 31 we'll have solas in action again
Pity the Dreadwolf was sidelined...
"I would treasure the chance to be wrong once again my friend."
Ffs , the Fen'Hanegg made me cry more than my ex. I should compose a lawsuit for BioWare
Those horns at 5:20 are so incredible. It just buffs the song so much and makes it absolutely majestic.
Much more #DAI music to come. Any requests?
same
Thirded for the Western Approach, but if you're doing epic music, do the Orlais theme next.
Edit: Ah, never mind, you already did that. Thanks!
Sha-Brytol Mix please. :)
Agent Sambora such a beautiful theme, it expresses solas's grief and sorrow he had to endure.
The Western Approach variant that plays during the Adamant Fortress sequence is one of the best scores in cinematic history.
"The truth is much simpler, and much worse, than the Qunari believe."
Knowing who he was due to the post-credit scene was nothing compared to hearing it from him 'in person' as it were.
Could you *IMAGINE* our collective shock if that post-credit scene wasn't made?
A whole DLC about tracking down a Solas gone rogue, trying to figure out if he was some kind of cultist fanatic for some ancient Elven god, only for him to drop the "I am no one's agent but my own" on you?
on hindsight, they dropped the ball revealing him so explicitly in the post credits
Having said that DA left us on a good and sorrow note, we will see what it will bring to the next entry
And D&D didn't really care at all for what they were making and screwed everyone over, while I'm pretty sure that everyone at Bioware is working hard for this one
@@tekakiuluy3221 All I ask for EA is to make this right,. they have the money, don't mess this game(sorry, STORY because they have a REALLY GOOD DAMN Story going) up. As a gamer, I would say the story of dragon age is beter than witcher 3 and cyberpunk. I keep checking everyday for updates on dragon age cause iIT IS 100/100 in my playbook. It is like a virgin in perfection, if I could help them for free labor I would that is how passionate I am aobut it; yet there are so many people like me that are. Do not mess it up, EA. Give them the time to make it right after cyberpunk failures, make it right. Make it good!
What I love about Solas' reveal is that we SHOULD have seen it coming.
Every few years I return back here, this time around dragon age Dreadwolf just got announced 😄
