    While the voice-acting and characters were both good in Origins, you cannot deny that without this playing in the background, those talks would have been missing something...vital. Whether it was learning of the ways of the Qun from Sten or hearing about Zevran's and Leliana's sad pasts or helping Alistair to find confidence in himself, this song sets the mood for everything.

      I've never had a similar experience since, sadly. If I find anything, then I will try to remember this video and post it here. We have lost the soul in gaming; unvoiced protagonists seem scant and I often feel forced to play as someone else's character, instead of my own.

      Probably not, all things considered, much as I'd love to be proven wrong.

    One of the most epic soundtracks in all gaming history :D. It makes me dream of a world full of wonders and adventures, mysteries to solve, kings that rise and fall. Imagine yourself on a hill looking at the horizon and the wind blowing into your face, high mountains in the background and before them stands a great and vast plain filled with uncharted forests. You want to discover that landscape and experience the beyond.

    As a Bioware fanboy, I'm ashamed to admit I waited years to play Origins. When it came out, I just assumed it wouldn't hold a candle to Baldur's Gate or Neverwinter Nights. What a mistake. Finally played and finished it recently. Its the first time I put 100 plus hours into a game in a loooong time, so I guess its safe to say that Origins is a classic like the other franchises.
    One of my favorite parts in the game is coming back to camp after a long quest to buy/sell and talk to party members with the atmosphere set to this tune. Sometimes I'd just let it run for an hour while doing something else lol.
    I also bought Inquisition to play right after. But what's the sign of a classic? When you beat it and immediately create another character to start it all over again. Haha.
    I hear Inquisition is good but from what people are saying, Origins is the best. I'm already in Lothering with my second character, so I guess Inquisition will have to wait haha.
    BTW its a shame to hear that the core of Bioware left. I'll be following where they go - hopefully they continue to be involved in making great games, no matter what the company.

      I think Tehran Loghain may be one of the most complex gaming antagonists ever. When you delve into the lore of the game and start to see that Cailan isn't the knight in shining armor he appeared tombs, and that Loghain was a pragmatic but ruthless warrior with a deep love for his country, it becomes hard for me to betray him.
      So I usually jump through all the hoops to make Alistair king and Loghain a Warden. It's a fitting punishment for what he's done, and I think the story works better for it.

I didn't feel too bad about most of the choices, but then I came to the Urn and had to kill Leliana (I intentionally took her with me, to see how it turns out). Seriously, I've NEVER felt so bad in my entire history of playing video games, even though she doesn't really say that much emotional stuff when you kill her. She's just an awesome character. Isn't it amazing how rpg games such as Dragon Age can make a player so creative with their characters, simply because they could choose to be good or bad, what their race is, who they fall in love with, etc. The player is practically able to make up a whole new story in their head, and that's great. The creator really does work with their audience, here.
      ...I know that feeling, too. Often I'd feel like I have shared laughter with Alistair, hated Zevran for being so damn... damn! but loved him at the same time, admired Wynne, despised Morrigan, gave interest to Shale and Sten, and cared for Leliana as well as Oghren. In fact, I cared for everyone of them in the end, ultimately.
      And that's what I love about games that give you so much diversity -- you're not TOLD what to do and who to be. That choice is yours, and it's beautiful. Your feelings and emotions and beliefs and point of view is taken into account as well. So many memories were made with this game, and I'm very keen to play Inquisition. (:

    Alistair being his goofy self, Oghren drunk af, Leliana's stories, Sten being unintentionally hilarious, and the DOG being a good boy. I like the other games, but I feel like they didn't really capture the sense of camaraderie that Origins' party had. It was like you were a big family and you grew so close to each other as the story progressed. The final goodbye at Denerim gates felt really impactful after all the hours spent together.
    It hurts so bad coming back to this song as it's one I always remember when I think of Dragon Age. I first played this game when I was about 16 and I'm fucking 30 now. I have so many treasured memories playing this game back when times were much simpler. It will always hold a place in my heart.

      @GeeGe. 9 років тому +51

      Damn man, at the risk of sounding like a grumpy old man, I gotta say, I also miss Origins really bad. I was hoping Inquisition was gonna be what I expected from Dragon Age II, but once again it doesn't feel like the Origins I know. It's full of "pew pew pew"s and colorful abilities and people being ninjas everywhere. What happened to the realistic, kind of dark, medieval fantasy-like feel of Dragon Age? I'm usually not called a "hipster" or anything like that but I understand why someone would say that to me in this case. I miss the first Dragon Age. I wish they went back to their bases instead of completely changing the world as they seem to have done. Even the interface in Origins was awesome, the way it looked like you were reading a piece of parchment when you opened your Journal. Now, in Inquisition, it's a bland black screen, and when you open your inventory it's like a whole new window. Completely immersion breaking. I had high hopes for Inquisition, but now I'm really disappointed, and it seems that, unfortunately, I'm part of a minority. I guess I'll just have to accept all of that and move on.

      G. Way to open an old wound, friend. Origins stands as one of my favourite games. I'm sad to say that BioWare is but a shell of their former self. Just about everyone left the studio and since their acquisition by EA - which is post Mass Effect 2 that I believe to be the best game BioWare ever made - it's been going downhill. The first time I played Origins, it easily became my favourite RPG ever, topping my former favourite VTM: Bloodlines and I was so desperate that they'd continue warden's story, or at least have characters half as deep as Origins companion. Instead we got the disaster that was DAII...

      G. It is sad, but the old Bioware that made Dragon Age Origins possible has already vanished. Lots of changes for the worse. One of the most decisive factors is that Brent Knowles who was the lead designer and creative director for Dragon Age: Origins left the company. As Dragon Age II's development was underway he felt BioWare wasn't the same anymore and didn't like its direction so he left. (He was with the company for 10 years). Dragon Age 2 was 'kind of a rush job' as Inon Zur said basically because of EA but that's not the only reason. Inon Zur hasn't returned in DA Inquisition. And these are just some examples that prove Dragon Age died in Awakening (including the DLCs) as an expansion that in my opinion is somehow miles better than Inquisition. I don't like how Mike Laidlaw is managing this franchise. He completely changed the original direction.

      I like Inquisition so far. Origins was a masterpiece and one of my favourite games of all time and I definitely didn't enjoy two as it felt abit tedious and repetitive. I've really enjoyed Inquisition so far though and think it's a brilliant game. Some people need to stop wanting another Origins, there will never be another Origins, it's one of those games where it's just so unique and great that it makes it almost impossible to replicate.

    These music theme became a motif as it was brought up over and over again during the game.
    To me, the somewhat melancholy nature of the music came to represent the tough decisions and experiences in the game, representative of a more grown-up and less ideal view of life.

    Al escuchar esta hermosa melodía, me lleno de nostalgia y a la vez de alegría porque recuerdo aquellas conversaciones con Alistair sobre los Guardas Grises, Morrigan sobre su vida con flemeth en la espesura, Leliana sobre su vida de bardo, Sten sobre el Qun, Wynne sobre el circulo de hechiceros, Zevran sobre los cuervos, Shale sobre los golems y Oghren y sus bebidas.
    Y aquí es donde me doy cuenta que siendo solo un "juego" uno como gamers o jugador se llega a conectar con estos maravillosos personajes como si en carne propia uno estuviese con ellos escuchándolos relatando sus historia como un gran grupo de compañeros y amigos.
    GRACIAS BIOWARE por habernos dado un espectacular juego que siempre (PARA MI) lo considerare el mejor juego que haya conocido.

    Thanks a lot, this version is spectacular. This game. . . can't believe I just kind of stumbled upon it so long ago. I had moved back in with my Dad at 27. I moved to him in Ellensburg WA, small town middle of nowhere, and was depressed out of my mind with no job and totally hopeless. Well, it wasn't really that bad, but I surely wasn't in the mood to start over in a new environment. So, after not playing video games for over 7 years, I went and bought this game.
    mind = blown

    This is by far my favourite track from the whole game, it gave me a sense of peace. After hardened struggles during my Warden's adventure across Ferelden, the camp was a safe haven (a side from the shriek attack) to relax and for a moment forget about the struggles ahead. Inon Zur created a masterpiece, it is a shame he won't be composing DA: Inquisition. Thanks for uploading this extended version :)

    This song is truly amazing. Imagine you being the last of a warrior race, the only know warrior race that can stop a terrible evil to come. You have to gather armies, defeat countless foes, and journey through many harsh environments. You meet enemies but you also meet allies, allies that will help you through these dark times. But through each adventure you grow tired you feel as if you’re ready to give it all up. And then you make camp, you have a moment to relax. You have a moment to better know those that are with you. You have a chance to breath in this small little camp. In this camp there are no dangers, there are no worries. It’s just you and your friends that will help you win this war.

    This songs vibe is simply 'childhood' hoenstly. the music fits every npc in the camp when they are talking about the past no matter how dark it is, it just fits. I only got to playing Origins afew months ago having played DA2 and Inq after the came out. Now it feels like a game I played all those years ago. Like playing through kotor or wow. Finding that small empty camp in the wild and just taking in the life around you.
    I know have this theme on my phone and listen to it whenever I want to relax. hopefully one day, someday there will be a game like this again, I regret not playing it sooner.

    I haven't been able to play any fantasy or rpg game to its fullest after playing this game. It was kind of long ago, but it just set the bar to a hight that hasn't yet been surpassed for me. Playing this game to a point where you'd spend an hour trying to steal two master runes from Duncan at Ostagar, minimizing your EXP to get all the party members at the lowest possible level to develope them the best way instead of the game's default.
    This game made me a geek.
