- Disneyland Paris is doing some really cool things with drones these days. The latest is the new Electric Sky Parade. It's the Main Street Electrical Parade, but with drones...in the sky. Wild. Here's our reaction.

I love how some of the drones have smoke or sparkles coming off of them. Look at the train smoking, the boat with sparkles and the dragon's nose.
Wasn't that cool, little details like that made it more magical.
The Swans were originally part of the Tokyo Disneyland Electrical Parade, and when it also debuted in Paris, they also had the swan floats. Also, apparently this is not to replace fireworks, it's a pre-show for the regular fireworks.
Not to mention they were also clearly playing the main theme from Tchaikovsky’s Swan Lake at that moment.
This show is a preshow. After you have the nighttime spectacular Disney Dreams! with fireworks.
Its good but it does indeed lack energy. This plus fireworks would be the ticket.
Disneyland Paris tried already a firework with drones for a one shot event : ua-cam.com/video/yJRtQvSeOUg/v-deo.htmlsi=pE458zL8DqfkY2-P
Wow this is amazing
Forget this show just bring back paint the night at Disneyland 😂
Do you realize it’s in Paris. That never ever had the Paint the Night Parade… So no point here
This is not a replacement for fireworks, It plays before their firework show Disney Dreams
I was speaking only to Disney's desire to replace fireworks shows in general with something else.
so this show is just a preshow. disney dreams plays right after this. that one has 'fireworks' in it. it doesnt fully replace the traditional evening spectacles YET. but they are definatly trying! disneyland paris is my homepark and I visit it serveral times a year. I always love to see the drones. the power the night drone show at the studios park is also a AMAZING show. also, love these kidns of videos of you reacting to other shows. would love to see you do it to all kinds of other disney evening shows around the world.
This is a Pre Show? I thought this was a full show. Disneyland is my home park and I would be happy if this was how they ended the night.
With more Drones this could absolutely replace the fireworks show. They are beautiful and with innovation they can make them even better. Love it! Disneyland Paris Castle is so unique and beautiful on its own too. The music is iconic and my ringtone!
I went to a Dodger game and they did this instead of fireworks. It is incredible and Disneyland should do this for sure. The much larger variety they can program is so much larger. It is pretty remarkable.
i was reading drone shows were replacing fireworks, look at new year celebrations that replaced fireworks with drones
Fireworks are still superior...drones can be fun after a couple images but it gets boring. Like watching some kid fly a drone or rc car.
@@serwinzzalot9989 the patterns made by advanced drones shows are superior
DLP are madlads. This looks absolutely insane!
Disneyland Paris has restrictions on fireworks which is why they have embrace this technology. And it works well there! They have been doing it for a while. Did you notice the smoke puffs coming out of Elliotts mouth? Pretty cool stuff. I doubt we'll be getting this at Disneyland anytime soon, if ever. Maybe WDW?
Yeah Paris still has a nightly fireworks show (currently Disney Dreams, which runs after this drone show) - but I believe they're restricted to a few BIG noisy fireworks shows each year. Videos of last year's Bastille Day show are worth a look, as that really showed off them combining many drones (I think it was a European record) and the big fireworks.
This is just a preshow. There is a fireworks show after this called Disney Dreams (ua-cam.com/video/if3sbKjSFqM/v-deo.html)
Honestly I would be OK with drones instead of fireworks. I hear you on the energy level being different but I also think it's different when you see it in person. To me this is much more entertaining than fireworks that can only do so many shapes and colors.
I was at the premiere and it was amazing! Try to watch a video from a different perspective because it’s clearly much better a little farther away from the castle. You get a more global view and can see the drones better.
Yes definitely - some other videos further back gave a better overall view.
I absolutely loved this! We can see fireworks shows all the time... baseball games, 4th of July, New Years... This was something special, something I would travel to a Disney park to soley see in person.
If Disneyland can get the laws or regulations to change then this would be very welcome at both Disneyland and DCA (WOC)
I think you can even do Drone shows for Specific land show if they wanted, like in Avatar Land only or Star Wars Galaxy Edge.
Disney NEEDS this. Fireworks are pretty limited and it's time for something refreshing. Not to mention the noise/environmental issues. It'd be fine if they kept a few fireworks for the finale for a "bang" but I'm sure they could come up with something surprising.
Environment, schmenvironment. Fireworks forever.
This is a great compliment/replacement for fireworks when wind, weather, and wildfire concerns prevent fireworks. It is also very amazing on its own.
If there ever was a good use of drones, this is it because it makes sense. It fits. The drones look like the lights for the Electrical Parade.
I think this shows the potentional drones could have to replace fireworks even if not eith this show exactly. Ill say Im biased i LOVE MSEP and I absolutely loved this !!!! Its a bit unfortunate that our projections dont look nearly as good as this because of castle shape. I guess Ill say I dont have an answer right now, but I do feel a burning desire to go to Paris just to see this!!
Honestly... I cried at watching this. Electro Sytha Magenetic Sound... the drone pixie dust in the beginning sent shivers... so awesome!
Same here, I love today's Disneyland, but the music and lights took me way, way back to when I was a kid. Definately Teary-eyed.
it is impressive. the train having smoke coming out of the stack and the flairs out the back of the pirate ship is a great touch. it has the feel of parade/show. The fire works at the end of the day has feel of a send off calibration. fire works have the bright lights along with the loud boom that just hits you a more then the drones. A large portion of the drone show is the combination of the drones and the projections. you can not see that from anywhere in the park. the fireworks you can see and hear from all over the area. the drones are a good stand alone show. as a replacement for the farewell fireworks? no.
In reference to the Disneyland Paris Main Street Electrical Parade, the original parade that opened with the park in April of '92, came from Walt Disney World. Disney World had just replaced the Electrical Parade with SpectroMagic, and so the MSEP was shipped to France. It ran there for many years, and then literally disappeared. I've heard rumor that it was to be shipped to Hong Kong for the opening of that park, but was lost in transit at sea! Wherever it ended up, no one seems to have a clear answer. As for this new Sky Parade, DLP has been supplementing their fireworks presentations with drone shows which are a lead in to the fireworks, and this presentation is an advancement over the last show. Having seen the "Avengers-Power the Night" at the Studios park, and the previous Disneyland Park show celebrating the resorts 30th anniversary, I can say that video does not do these drone shows justice. Combined with projections (and the castle fountains), these Paris shows really stand up on their own. Would love to see this in person! thanks for the reaction, Dave!
You are right, it's one thing to see a video, but to see it in person raises it to a new level and beyond. Interesting that the French company that does the drones, is or has opened an office in Orlando. Universal is working on a drone show, I wonderful if they are using the same company. Also, maybe Disney World will have a drone show in it's future.
This particular video could t seem to properly record most of the spotlight action, making the finale especially less spectacular. I really noticed it during the “When You Wish Upon A Star” moment with beams of light hitting the sky on each note.
Something not mentioned is there is smoke and fireworks coming out of some of these drone!!!!! So freakin amazing!!!!!!!
Dollywwod's drone show and other drone shows incorporate multiple fast moving "laser beams" to create a grand finale, not unlike Disneyland does with fireworks. The Paris show was attempting an aerial parade, not a fireworks display.
This is just the beginning of drone shows, I hope they get more magical in years to come!
The airspace over Disneyland is restricted by the FAA, at the request of Disney. I imagine if they wanted to fly drones over their own Park they can make arrangements with the FAA to allow that.
It's a great show, after this there is the Disney Dreams show with fireworks
Did you even notice the smoke and fireworks coming from the drones?
Nope, otherwise he would have mentioned it.
At 4:14 one of the drones in the caterpillar takes a nose dive.... Drone down!!!
We also had the Marvel drone show in Walt Disney Studios (Paris) which used Tower of Terror for the projections. It was awesome!
I saw that too, that was awesome! I wish we had that at Avengers Campus in DCA, that would be so cool!
The FAA restricts all flights over Disneyland below, I believe 3,000 ft above ground level. Drones can be flown over Disneyland but it would have to be the Park wanting them as part of a performance. The city of Anaheim has very limited authority in these cases.
4:12 a drone (red) fell from the head of the caterpillar. I'm sure this aerial show is done in an off limits area exactly for this reason.
Yes, they close all the areas of the park behind the castle before the show starts. The show typically starts 10 mins before the park closes so its not an issue
You do know gravity doesn’t cause anything to fall at an angle without more momentum that that drone had, right?
Maybe try better and do some research for future videos ‘cause most of the things you’re saying aren’t true. Very annoying as a local to hear those mistakes 😅
Disneyland Paris Parade Love ❤️ my favorite Disneyland Park one fan Big💖💖💖💖💖🎶🏰
There are videos of the show from further back like around the Main Street area and for some reason, the show looks more spectacular there. The drone shapes appear larger and they’re more pronounced from a distance. And there is less obstruction from the castle. Try watching one of those vids, it might change your mind on how cool the show really looks.
I love your reaction David ! I’d be a crying mess if I saw that in person! Wow!
After seeing this, this is what I expect how they would incorporate maleficent into fantasmic They’re better have her dragon face up in the sky with Pyro firing out of her mouth.
David, that was AMAZING!!!! I loved that. I would TOTALLY take that over a fireworks show. It's strange that you can't do drones over Disneyland, but you can explode tons of fireworks. Fireworks are always just fireworks. With a drone show, the capabilities are endless with what can be done. Bring on the drone shows!!! 😊
Please react to Tokyo Disney Electrical Parade! Ordinary Adventure has a great video of it.
Drones are 100 times better than the half assed fireworks
I like this more than fireworks! Not to mention no noise that be problematic for people/animals. I'm sure it's better for the environment than fireworks.
I absolutely agree!
I'm sick of drones. They remind me of a war zone.
Wow so cool. I loved your reactions too. I might have to go to Paris now 😂
1:23 I love that you and me had the same reaction to that opening music! Every time!
2:33 that's actually brilliant that they decided to do this show for this reason that it has a similar look. 🤔
3:18 your pure delight is so great ❤
4:48 OH! I didn't know that! I was wondering why Disneyland hasn't tried. Maybe they just need to get a permit? 5:09 oh...well that answers that. So they're stuck with fireworks?
6:41 it really does just put a big smile on your face 😁
8:20 I think it might. I'd love to see this in person!
11:44 THIS! Yes to letting creatives create!
Yes, ever since the 9-11 incident. DLR and DCA have become a no fly zones
This is just pre-show, they still have Disney Dreams after but I really do suspense that they might incorporate drones with their fireworks show soon. Like what they did to Celebrate Bastille Day fireworks last year.
i think the last part is for the new small world float that has all the disney characters in small world design
FIREWORKS always better!
Well, it’s just a pre-show for the fireworks show 🤷♂️
Give them 5 years to work on it
From what I was told, disney requested that their airspace be a restricted zone using 9/11 as an excuse, but the main reason is to prevent outsiders from flying drones over their park. FAA granted the restrictions, but it applies to all, including Disney's own drones, so it came back to bite them. At least that was the story I had heard over 20 years ago.
I want this At Disneyland so bad
Loved it. I thought it was an amazing show. Thanks for sharing David.
Better than fireworks IMHO.
Agreed
If Disney had a multi plane Camera; could they add 500 more drones behind those 500 to make a better detail show?
Last year Disneyland Paris used almost 1500 drones for the Bastille Day show (videos of this are on YT) - at the time it was a European record.
It doesn’t have to be good enough to permanently replace fireworks. It’s good enough for a cool change of pace for a bit for sure.
It's actually a pre show so after the drones show there is a fireworks
I believe it is good enough to replace fireworks, and it would be less disturbing for the residence
I agree. Also better for wildlife and the environment.
This is just a pre-show, the fireworks show (Disney Dreams) begins a few minutes after this show
Is FFA control air space
Disneyland resort they need drones display in the sky someday soon
Such permission for Disneyland would require a change in airspace management regulations and a move of the 5 freeway from behind the park.
IN THIS VIDEO there is at LEAST one drone that fails and plummets to the ground. Consider what would happen if Disney killed somebody by dropping a drone through their car window on the freeway.
Also the space requirement for launching and landing 500+ drones would be something that likely doesn’t exist in the tight environment around Disneyland Resort.
We will be SHOCKED if Disneyland gets permission to use drones. So many reasons against it… regardless of how AWESOME it would be for Disneyland to get permission.
If they just added a few fireworks at the end, that could make the whole ending much more fitting of Disney while still providing a cost savings.
They still have fireworks. The fireworks show is after the drone show. DLP has both
It’s juste a matter of time. Disneyland Paris made a recent test of Drones and Fireworks for a single night Holliday show. You can see it here : ua-cam.com/video/yJRtQvSeOUg/v-deo.htmlsi=pE458zL8DqfkY2-P
That's pretty cool!
The Electrical Sky Parade is just a preshow for a seasonal event in Disneyland Paris. After the show, Disney Dreams starts which is the actual fireworks.
Incredible
Wow, I really dig it! 🏰 🎆
This is the best thing they have ever done! absolutely brilliant
I've been wondering about a drone show for a few years. I feel they could use a great drone show for 10min, then end with a big bang 5min or so fireworks presentation. Best of both worlds.
See Disneyland Paris' Bastille Day show from last year (videos are here on YT) - that really shows what they could do with combining drones and fireworks.
David, please react to the DLP Bastille Day drone show. 🤩 Your mind will be blown. I promise.
Ah yes, glad someone else mentioned the Bastille Day show - that was an amazing show and DLP really blew the fireworks budget on that, I think! 😅
@@nightowlnzab It’s the perfect example of what a show can be when you add drones to a fireworks show.
Waouh....This show is just Amazing ! And Disneyland Paris is a very beautyfull Park
Do yourself a favor and seek out a video of the sky parade from further back. You can see the entirety of the drone displays at all times, and it is SO much more impressive. Unlike a fireworks show, people will have to retrain themselves to not be right up on the castle for these drone shows. They need to do whatever they need to do to get these shows in America because it is FAR better than fireworks.
The smoke from the train was dope
Agreed
Is this good enough to replace fireworks?
Our answer is “Absolutely!” The animation that they can do with drones is more fun and lack lack of noise and smoke is not missed at all. It’s a shame they can’t do it at DLR. I would think they could have a safety barrier if they flew them over Tom Sawyer Island.
Oh my goodness! I just came across this. It gave me goosebumps!!!! Very nice ‘sky parade’. I would think this would be a nice thing for those that are not crazy about loud popping noise that fireworks makes. My Mom would’ve enjoyed this (she has passed) since she was not a fan of them. Thanks for sharing. 😊
To paraphrase George Wallace: Fireworks today, fireworks tomorrow, fireworks forever. Fireworks will never go away at Disneyland.
The score went back to the original 72 melody than the current technique that dream lights presented from 2001 to today!!! Nice throwback 😎😎😎
This is the show BEFORE the fireworks. Disney Dreams starts directly after the drone show. So they are not saving money.
$100,000 a night is a drop in the bucket for Disney. That's only 600+ people walking thru the gate. Piece of cake. Great show, it will never replace fireworks. Just like the real parade, never replace fireworks.
As a child of the 70's and seeing the original first run Main Street Electrical parade, I never could have imagined that one day they would put it in the sky, I'm truly in awe. What an amazing show.
Re: Replacing fireworks, I'm not sure if you'll see this, but as someone with epilepsy having an option of a night show other than fireworks is an absolutely thrilling idea. I'd never, ever want them replaced! I just can't watch them unless I'm really far away (or it's recorded) and then it's kind of a moot point given I can't see the projections (unless, again, it's recorded).
I thoroughly enjoyed watching this particularly since I was a kid when the Main Street Electrical Parade was live; I never appreciated it at the time. As a young kid, I either wanted to ride rides instead or I was tired and wanted to sleep. The music, however, triggers such good memories for me just the same. I only wish I'd been more understanding and a little less stubborn. It's too long ago now fir me to remember anything more than the sounds.
I agree, having seen drone shows, they are nice but you walk away going... is that it? Fireworks are way better as a stand alone show offering. Now drones + fireworks - that is a killer combination. There were a few places who did that combination this last 4th of July and that has both the wow and beauty factor of fireworks and the larger than life factor of drones. The other problems drones have is their footprint is HUGE to launch from. They typically take up a football field at minimum and it is also very limited on their runtime, typically 15 min max including show and takeoff and landing sequence.
I’m actually pretty sure that they could do a drone show at Disneyland. (Source:I’m a pilot) There is a TFR (temporary flight restriction) over Disneyland, which is usually a temporary restriction on all flights in an area for things like a sports game or a president visiting, but disneys is permanent.
It was actually put there by Disney. They had an in with the FAA who controls the airspace, and had it slipped into a bill to make it permanent because they didn’t want planes towing banners flying over Disney all day and advertising.
I’m also a drone pilot and they could fly the show over fantasyland and not be over people. If CMs were there, as long as they are aware of the show then it’s ok.
Long story short, they could navigate the TFR since it’s their doing, and could fly it over fantasyland.
I think this is amazing! I would be ok with them doing this instead of fireworks some nights.
As far as no drones over Disneyland, I know that Disneyland and WDW are both “no fly zones”. I believe that is federal. I believe that includes drones. There may also be a city or state ban also. I think there was a time WDW got an exemption to fly drones so IDK if that is a possibility for Disneyland or not. It is different because Disneyland is a much more urban environment. It would be great to have something like this at WDW at least in the US.
I keep watching your shows to see how Disneyland is holding up without me. It’s one of the 2-3 things I miss since moving to Florida so thanks for the updates.
Ugh I would give up the fireworks at Disneyland if they brought back the Main Street electrical parade forever! 😭 I didn’t get to go in 2022 when they brought it back for that little while.
Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls,
Disneyland proudly presents
Our spectacular festival pageant
Of nighttime magic and imagination
In thousands of sparkling lights
And electro-syntho-magnetic musical sounds,
The Main Street Electrical Parade!
Id take this over fireworks. More flexibility on what can be done. Fireworks can be a lil monotonous after the first few bangs. Yes Disney makes theirs special but something that happens every New Years and 4th everywhere around the world doesn't make it as unique.
I can imagine that Disney would want to save some money with fireworks, but it’s also that they have a negative impact on not just the environment as a whole, but specifically the regional environment and wildlife, which includes humans. I do find it ironic that you asked if it’s good enough to replace fireworks while the drowns were creating fireworks as fireworks were projected onto the castle. This also doesn’t seem to be the best recording. A lot of the spotlight effects were barely visible, and that makes a huge impact on the intensity of the finale.
As someone with sensory issues, I HATE fireworks...it would be amazing to have the option of drones for some shows to add that sky sparkle~
I would take this over fireworks. Once you've seen one fireworks show you've seen then all.
I think the Electrical parade at Disney Paris was the same one. They move it. Original LA one. I think I've seen it at LA, Orlando and Paris and read that they ship it.
Drones probably would not work at Disneyland because of nearby freeway and residential. Universal Hollywood should bring this back though. WDW it would work, if only they were about to celebrate a HUGE milestone (50th and 100th anny sarcasm).
Dang I actually have to leave this video because I don’t want too many spoilers 😭 I’m going to DLP this year for my birthday so I’m holding off on watching it until then. But I’ll listen to this later while I’m drawing or something so I can still hear your commentary 😉
Watching fireworks on a tiny screen isn't that impressive either. I'd bet seeing it in-person would be just as exciting as fireworks.
Universal Hollywood does this in their Hogwarts light show for a drone Patronus and it's beautiful!
The Disneyland Castle is too small for a show like this! Sleeping beauty would have to expanded
imo, drone shows are WAY more entertaining than fireworks and I'd prefer drones at Disneyland. The drones make actual shapes and stories instead of different colors of pretty much the same thing.
They did really cool stuff with drone for the championship of league of legends in Korea. It blew my mind
Disney's Electric Sky Parade drone show is pretty basic compared to other drone shows cross the world
The videos offer no sense of the sheer scale of this. They are enormous! We watched it earlier this week and its beyond anything i have ever seen at WDW. TBH all of their parades were way beyond anything WDW does.
Sorry, but the host talking through the video ruins the enjoyment.
That is stunning! If not replacing fireworks entirely, I can see this tech taking the bulk of the heavy lifting. Drones are the future! there's so much they can do, and cheaper and more environmentally friendly than fireworks... no fire risk, not disturbing animals... it still feels somewhat prototype, but I can see Disney developing this and in 5 years, arguing for the use of this tech at Disneyland.
The other question is the three dimensional nature of viewing - I presume we're looking at a flat two dimensional canvas here? So can only be best viewed from certain angles - in front of the castle. As the tech becomes cheaper and easier, maybe we'll see 3D shapes being created for viewing from anywhere!
So drone laws are so outdated with new drone tech. I have worked with drones kind of like this at work. They use gps tracking and other systems to fly in a synchronized patterns and if one drone happens to loose power it will slowly lower to its take off location. It’s cool and safer to run but each drone is about 50-60 thousand usd plus.
I like the drones less kaboom and my ears won't ring so much from it. Universal Studios does some drones for the Harry Potter shows.
